  • "Parasite Eve" was quite creative in it's design, and I loved the sheer variety of enemies in those game!

I like the concepts, and the idea of turning survivor on survivor is rather fun to cause some chaos!

  • It's whatever you decide. The devs have deliberately not defined it so people can make their own objectives each game.

Mine is simplistically: pip for win; black pip for draw; depip for loss. It doesn't matter how anyone else defines it, or attempts to force their opinion of a win on to you.

Enjoy the game as you like to.

That perk makes it worse since they don’t appear on walls

I never found it worse. If anything, having the scratch marks closer together made it much easier to follow, due to the intensity.

  • Silent Hill was my dream license, so am very glad it came out with a strong killer and Cheryl with also decent perks. The map was beautiful aesthetically (even if awkward in terms of gameplay) and it just was very nostalgic to remember those early games and the thrill I got from them when I first discovered Silent Hill.

Ghost Face was my least favourite, mainly because of the lack of anything other than a killer (a paragraph, dressed up as a chapter), and was disappointed Sydney Prescott didn't make it (big Neve Campbell fan here).

  • Also, why did Dr. Otto Stamper become simply Mr. Stamper? I mean, that would make him a surgeon (or even a non-medical individual) and not a doctor. It is an interesting alteration.

  • If you're having problems with them, the Wraith's "Predator" perk can help understand the pathing more. When you're used to it they'll be easier to follow.

The problem is that the scratch marks can't be too obvious, otherwise it'll be almost impossible to get the killer off your case. They need to be balanced to show where survivors have run to, yet also give some counterplay.

  • No. Perks give an advantage, but ultimately it's down to skill. You could have a meta against others who have no perks, but if they're more skillful than you then those perks will not win it for you.

I've beaten meta builds on both sides with few or no perks, and likewise had decent builds which failed against people who were not on meta.

Ultimately, it's how you use perks and their synchronicity to your playstyle which can help, but it's your skill and ability which plays the main role - at least from my own experience of the game.

  • One thing about that mine: When I watched it from the position of the killer and it went off, I think the gen then needed to be kicked again to actually regress it. So that mine seemed to stun the killer, and even then not start regression.

    Is that intentional?

  • Michael Myers, because at least he doesn't just target kids. In some respects, Freddy is little more than a deadly bully. Myers will take anyone on, so I'll back him.

However, Freddy does have a much cooler power of traversing and attacking in dreams.

  • It's not as bad as it appears, unless you face those who take it very seriously.

However, there would be some issues in removing comms:

#1. The most obvious is how you would prove it. It's equally as possible 4 solo players can play well enough to give the impression they're on comms.

#2. Switching off comms ingame can't stop it. Various apps will allow teams to bypass it. This is also impossible to prove.

#3. A fair number of players would leave, which would render the game in trouble.

#4. Most swf are really not that bad honestly. They're given a bad wrap because of the ultra rare top teams. I've faced swf who have been really friendly and positive, and those who are very competitive help me learn new techniques or experiment to get better.

Overall, I empathise. However, it's something that is here to stay, but it's really not huge groupings of death-squads. Even then, if you win (according to what you define as a win) then that will leave a better sense of accomplishment than squashing 4 beginners.

  • Most of my answers were "I don't care", bar a couple of them.

I had a few at 675 at the top: Hag, Trapper, Clown, Doctor, Spirit.

  • If it's based in canon and not gameplay, then I'd put Pyramid Head at the top. He's the only one who seems to hurt the Entity with his power, agreed to join the trials (rather than made to or brought into the world), and with the exception of Myers can bypass sacrifices from the Entity.

The fact the cage of atonement also robs the Entity of a sacrifice, alongside the wounds Pyramid inflicts within the realms, makes me wonder whether Silent Hill's God is attempting to invade.

In all honesty, I don't think the Entity would be too upset about more Silent Hill stuff - all that suffering would be like a Christmas dinner to it!

  • It may not work with existing licensed characters like Pyramid Head, Myers, Bill or Ash, for example. However, on original characters it could definitely be a thing! Crypt TV has worked, and if they wanted to play with more experimental characters (like Scooby Doo) it would be possible.

  • There's quite a few suggestions about the main characters, but I reckon there's a lot to be said for legendary outfits for other original characters:

    Dwight - Brad Vickers

    Elodie - Sheva

    Felix - Ethan Winters

    Yui - Ada Wong

    David - Barry Burton

    Kate - Rachel Foley

    Meg - Claire Redfield

    Feng - Rebecca Chambers

    Ace - Albert Wesker

Also, the original killers could have some options:

    The Blight - Hunter Alpha

    The Hillbilly - Dr. Salvador

The Nurse - Lady Dimitrescu's daughters

    The Plague - Lady Dimitrescu

The Hag - Crimson Head Zombie

  • It hit in with the idea of recalling those slasher movies and allowing people to actuqlly play out those scenarios. That was a big thing that's kept with it.

On top of that, various streamers and YouTubers helped build its popularity. Moreover, the adding of licences greatly helped. You can now have a full video game-themed survivor group of Bill, Cheryl, Leon and Jill vs a legendary movie slasher like Myers.

Nowadays, it's established itself as the leader of this type of gameplay and the annual plans and such has guaranteed its future for quite a while yet. At some point it'll lose the sparkle, as any franchise would, but there's nothing stopping it for now.

  • You can find Playstation numbers on gamestat.com, but it's not nearly as detailed as the Steam charts. Also, I have not found anywhere that shows any other platforms, but here's hoping I just overlooked.

  • If we could, I'd love the rare occassion they appear! Unfortunately, I'm under the impression that they were over-written.

  • "Rule of Honour" sounds like some medieval strategy game from the late 90s!

There is no rule of honour for either side. Play how you want to play. Ultimately, if they want to escape then they need to play well enough (or be sneaky enough) that they can escape.

If a killer decides to allow an escape, that's purely down to the killer's personal choice and should never be expected (although survivors of course can appeal to a killer's nicer nature during the trial with offering their items, etc..).

Just keep playing as you'd like. Also, welcome to the trials!

  • Pyramid Head is a strong killer that has decent balance, strong powers with counterplay and a genuinely daunting appearance. Also, he's not at Spirit level, but his strength makes him very viable at higher levels.

I don't believe he needs any changes. He can be beaten, but against a good one you can consider you played well if you escaped.

    Yes! His streams are wholesome.

When I got the notification from a stream I was like: meh I'm to tired to watch a streamer now. But then I saw that it was panda, and had to watch it.

It was good to see he was still as entertaining to watch, as well as his mate Gibbs featuring ("Stop whipping the tentacle!!"). I also missed his shrine watch and how he'd use those perks in a match.

Hybrid Panda (yes, he´s back!), Rowby and MrGimms

It's great to see HybridPanda back! He was one of the positive, upbeat players who introduced me to this game.

Really happy he's back and hope he's doing well after what he's had to deal with in his personal life.

  • My preferences are:

    Dwight Fairfield - Leader

Meg Thomas - Quick & Quiet

    Claudette Morel - Empathy

    Jake Park - Iron Will

    Nea Karlsson - Urban Evasion

    Laurie Strode - Decisive Strike

Ace Visconti - Ace In The Hole

    William Overbeck - Borrowed Time

    Feng Min - Alert

David King - We're Gonna Live Forever

    Quentin Smith - Vigil

    David Tapp - Detective's Hunch

Kate Denson - Dance With Me

    Adam Francis - Autodidact

    Jeff Johansen - Aftercare

    Jane Romero - Head On

Ashley J. Williams - Buckle Up

    Nancy Wheeler - Better Together

    Steve Harrington - Second Wind

    Yui Kimura - Breakout

    Zarina Kassir - Red Herring

    Cheryl Mason - Soul Guard

    Felix Richter - Desperate Measures

    Élodie Rakoto - Deception

    Yun-Jin Lee - Smash Hit

Leon S. Kennedy - Bite The Bullet

    Jill Valentine - Blast Mine

  • They did miss a trick by not adding breakable walls to at least some of the shacks.

It's still odd that at Badham they actually sealed 2 of the entrances up in such a way as for it to not even need to be kicked down by the killer! It still feels like a strange decision to make.

  • It's like they're refusing to admit they lost by disconnecting; pretending that they weren't sacrificed so it doesn't count in their heads as a loss.

  • Survivors have the ability to switch characters last minute, including the object they carry, so that gives them some sneakiness to catch the killer off-guard (e.g.: switching from toolbox to key).

If survivors knew the killer, then there would be builds being put in to deliberately mess that specific one up, people lobby-dodging and would be imbalanced in-so-that survivors would have a very strong advantage against the killer's power.

It's much better that the killer is not known to survivors until confronted during the trial (or spawned within the Huntress terror radius, as happened to me 2 nights ago!).

  • I play in character, so each survivor or killer I approach differently.

For example: I see the Wraith as an angry character, but who is also ethical and knows when deeds are done well. If I notice a survivor risking themself for others, and we're the last 2, I'll let them escape. I'll also act as a predator; taking wide arcs to circle, encompass and panic my prey.

However, as Hillbilly I play him as an absolute madman, chainsawing everything and anything, and taking very risky routes to get surprise downs. He does not do subtlety. If people survive, it's never down to the Hillbilly showing pity - always that they outplayed him.

On the survivor side, if I'm Dwight I'll always seek cooperation and teamwork. He doesn't like being alone or confrontational and hates dealing with chases. On the other hand, Meg is more hard-hitting and prefers chases and skillful plays. She's not affraid of being chased, and is much more gutsy.

Every character has a unique way I play and communicate post-match. It's just more fun for me.

  • From what I've seen, Nemesis seems to be a better killer in terms of chasing, due to his tentacle strike and range around loops, with minimal penalties for a missed hit. Also, his zombie pals can cause some real pressure for survivors.

Demogorgon is a better map-navigator; able to use portals and the accompanying oblivious status to catch survivors off-guard. Its shred is also powerful at closing the distance, and I think it has a longer range than the tentacle, but a missed hit punishes it more.

So it depends on how you play, rather than which is stronger. Demogorgon prefers players who like to sneak up on survivors at gens, or cause chaos across the map, whilst Nemesis is a stronger pursuer (which suits, considering how relentless he was in-game!).

  • I think they're a creation by the Entity, but the Entity has developed an understanding of the T-virus and has utilised it to compliment Nemesis' mutations.

R.P.D is the only map I can think of off the top of my head which has evidence of those blight-postuled flowers within it, and I'm wondering whether their presence as mingled with the T-Virus to provide this added help for Nemesis.

  • Firstly, this an awesome post! Anywhizz, mine would be:-

    For Survivor:

#1. Calm Spirit. I get on far better with animals than humans, and often end up befriending random pets and creatures as I go out and about.

#2. Babysitter. I'm good at defending others by turning the antagoniser's focus on to me and the direction of action or subject matter I'm choosing.

#3. Desperate Measures. I tend to be very good and focused in dire situations, but in lesser scenarios I'm not as effective and don't take it as seriously.

#4. Smash Hit. I can capitalise very quickly on others mistakes, whether it's a game, work, debate, etc..

    For Killer:

#1. Insidious. People have commented that I just seem to appear out of nowhere. Especially at work, where I've been blamed for many accidental jump-scares.

#2. Beast Of Prey. When really into something I hyperfocus; blocking everything out and often lose track of time and what's around me.

#3. Whispers. My gut instinct is normally very reliable. If something doesn't feel right it's often not. I can also tell by someone's atmosphere if something is amise.

#4. Blood Warden. If a task is finished but there's something that's been skipped or not looked into, I'll ensure people resolve it before we consider it truely completed.

I did say they 'may' fix the issues in the end. I don't doubt they can do such a thing, learning from past experience. The issue on hand, though, is actual banning. How many accounts may/will be banned before the devs shut the system down to work on it, and how many players will actually get their accounts back after the dust clears?

It's one thing to be banned for a few hours due to dcing, real or not, it's another to have longer, if not perma bans, because of a faulty system. That is what I'm afraid of. Some snotty swf that mass reports me for not letting them bully me, or a few of the new charm users that claim I did such and such because of their charms, or any other banning excuse that can be used; I'll get the ban, and then fall through the cracks when the devs attempt to fix the issue.

An auto ban system if ripe for abuse. The devs track record make it even scarier.

I suppose that's where my hope lies: in that when it's initially set up it will have human input before any decision for the ban is made. Certainly at the start that's where they need to be.

Here's also hoping that it's going to be more than just hitting a button to truely trigger it. I can't imagine anyone tedious enough to file a ticket for every minor grievance, but then I've come across some of the silliest people (putting it politely!).

But until then I'll wait for further details to be revealed, and if it does throw up more concerns I'll be voicing them just as much as anyone else would.

  • It would be odd that during a game where the killer has several things on the go, that they'd take time to target a very small charm.

Unless someone explicitly makes a homophobic comment, then nothing can happen. Indeed, without evidence, claims of such prejudice actually could constitute heterophobia and be treated as seriously as homophobia.

Basically, I wouldn't worry about it. Yet, if someone does make homophobic comments, they should be reported without fail and it acted upon with zero tolerance.

  • @HollowsGrief said:

Knowing this dev team yes I absolutely do think people should be freaking out. Don't you remember the MMR system when it first launched? An auto ban feature is a bad idea, there is nothing good about it other than their people who moderate those reports having an easier time, which I honestly don't give two shits about. No no no no no, bad idea, just stop.

    @Rivyn said:

Remember MMR, and how bad both attempts were? Or the dc penalty system, and how many times it had to be disabled due to hacking? Or the current chat censor system?

Every time the devs input a system like this, it fails. Sure, they may fix the issues in the end, but how long does that take? How many players will be affected by the ban system, vs how many will get their accounts back due to bad reports?

I do remember the problems with MMR and the dc system, and understand why these don't exactly instill much in the way of faith in this upcoming autoban feature with people

I suppose the thing which may work in BHVR's favour is their experience with issues in these systems and how much they learnt from it. Tru3Talent's hack ban he received whilst streaming was a big indicator of an issue, but recently I'm not aware of any hacks with this system. So if they are learning to perfect systems and succeeding in doing so, then it's possible they'll be more capable and wary when adding new features.

They could follow how Rainbow 6 Siege dealt with their autoban feature by having the feature initially pick up on issues, but the final decision was to be made manually. Currently, we have no information on what will be happening, but I believe they will be more cautious, especially knowing they'll have more people coming into the game.

Again, I'll reiterate: it's important to make them aware of concerns, but at the same time doomsaying (not saying you are by the way; I'm more refering to some of the reactions) isn't productive and it's best to wait until more information comes through to make a better assessment and press them with questions that arise thereafter.

  • I'm not that fussed, but yeah the old one was better designed in my eyes.

  • No idea why they removed the skulls! It doesn't look inspired. Only the background colouring is good. Otherwise, it's not a good change, and appears rather bland and uninteresting.

It's not a major thing for me, but they have taken something that was distinctive and removed everything that made it representative. It'll be nice if they revert it.

  • If it's against those acting that way then that's fine. You give as good as you get and treat people as they treated you.

So long as you don't then start acting this way with survivors who are playing fairly and keeping the way you play appropriate with who you're facing, then it seems fair.

Personally, I've annoyed more of those morons by ignoring and not reacting to them. They make mistakes, then get hooked and ignored. Yet I think I see where you're coming from amd so long as it's against those who deserve it, then go for it!

  • This is a fine thread to make and a very positive message. Kudos on putting this forward.

May those who tunnel you purely because of the badge suffer from a dc that was out of their control and suffer the penalty.😁

  • It's a warning which reduces the amount of posts someone can make. The warning comes from breaching forum guidelines, such as making separate accounts, trolling, etc., but all details are in the forum guidelines.

  • The Oni would be absolutely terrifying!

All the killers would probably grow huge and continue to mutate into giant, grotesque forms. Pyramid Head may be the exception, since he's basically a creation of guilt and therefore exempt. Spirit will also get a pass since she's a spirit. All the others would just become bigger, uglier and more deadly.

  • If I could pick the next 6 licences, they would be:

    #1. Alien

    • Survivor - Ellen Ripley

    • Killer - Xenomorph

    • Map - Nostromo

    #2. Alan Wake:

    • Survivor - Alan Wake

    • Killer - Mr. Scratch

    • Map - Bright Falls/ Cabin at Cauldron Lake

    #3. Slumberparty Massacre 2:

    • Survivor - Courtney Bates

    • Killer - The Driller Killer

    • Map - The Condominium

    #4. Eternal Darkness (Sanity's Requiem):

    • Survivor - Alexandra Roivas

    • Killer - Pious Augustus

    • Map - The Forbidden City

    #5. Haunting Ground:

    • Survivor - Fiona Belli (with AI Hewie)

    • Killer - Daniella

    • Map - Belli Castle

    #6. Persona 3:

    • Survivors - Makoto Yuki; Aigis

    • Killer - Takaya Sakaki

    • Map - Tartarus

  • Considering survivors have no idea what they'll be facing at all, it's fair. It's not something I do, but that's because I randomize my character. There's nothing wrong with it to me.

  • Dwight was my first survivor and I remember the team being decimated by an aggressive Wraith. However, he gave me the hatch in pure pity and thus I made my first escape. Absolutely trashed, but alive.

  • I had a rather gruesome one where I was in some rundown 1950s-style industrial complex in Dungeness. It's a really alien part of the UK. To give you an idea:

    221880431_c79330ee53_b.jpg

I didn't know why I was there, but there were generators and I felt they needed to be repaired so I could escape. There was this killer after me: a giant, humanoid creature made entirely of dark water. Very bulky, and within its body there were a number of vortex that seemed to lead to some dimension much worse than this one. Not an ideal creature for someone who was both aquaphobic and trypophobic!

I don't remember much other than that, but it moved like a wild animal on 2 feet and was fast for its bulky size.

  • It feels like you become a walking battery for Nemesis, and currently his power isn't such that you'd feel the need to vaccinate against the virus.

Really, it needs to actually put the survivors into a position whereby they need to get rid of it, even if it takes 10 minutes to raise to the full potential. Have it so that once a timer is up, the survivor dies and replaces one of the zombies.

It can either be that the timer is shorter, but vaccines respawn. Or there remains a limited supply, but the timer is much longer.

  • The announcement of The Ghost Face Chapter had me excited for a "Scream-themed" one. However, it ended up to be a Paragraph with a killer designed to be used by teabaggers, gave no map nor survivor and ultimately a relatively weak stealth killer. The perks were the only redeeming feature. This was by far the weakest example of a chapter and was a great disappointment for the false promise it gave.

Probably the only time I've really been unhappy at the team, but with Stranger Things and their change since they've more than made up for it.

  • @MintberryCrunch said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2221258#Comment_2221258

That's quite the over generalisation in my view, do you only play killer?

I sense a lot of sarcasm in their post. Don't mind them - you'll get used to the sarcasm and see the humour in it.😁

  • It's a shame some people are like that. If somebody has a bad game the best thing to do is move on. Even if someone does feel hard done by, at the absolute most, they should say nothing, report if you feel there's a geniune issue to report, and then take a break.

Also, it's important to realise people aren't rude or toxic because they're a survivor/ killer main - they're that way because of the attitude towards life those people harbour. Some people just need to realise playing a particular role does not make you a bad sport, but a crappy attitude to life does.

  • The only exception that would make me annoyed would be if they were using exploits to achieve a speedrun record or highest score, and then claim it as a world record.

Otherwise, a single player game can be played however you'd like to.

  • I'm all for similar AI in future for some killers, but presently - with perhaps the exception of Pyramid Head and the Silent Hill Nurses, I think adding them (or equivalent) to every killer would lose its appeal.

If anything, I'd rather future killers have even more variety beyond this use of AI. Maybe one killer has 1 AI animal pet that hunts, or perhaps another has vines that can be attached to anything that lash out with some reach (Poison Ivy killer?).

But at the moment, Nemesis has a lot of appeal with this unique feature, so I hope it remains rare for killers presently. Besides, a great Spirit killer with a couple of phantasm sidekicks .. I'm not sure that would be welcome.

However, I do hope for similar zombie-like ideas in future. Just different.

  • Just remind yourself that the chat lobotomy party you saw is just a very vocal minority, compared to all those who will play the game because it's a game.

Most people are decent, so you have exceedingly little to worry about in regards. Anybody dumb enough to pick on you and then say it was because of the Pride tag just requires a simple report with evidence of that to boot them.

Don't let the zombies get you down. And by that, I apologise to the RE zombies - they're much more worth it than those other types.
