MATCHMAKING IS DEAD

Plain charms in the free tiers, charms that do something to the game in the premium
charms that do something to the game in the premium
Can you please explain what you mean by that? Animated charms? Or charms that actually have an effect on the game?

I just hate the fact you get nothing for like 3/4 levels on the free track. I mean, is it so terrible to put in a few bloodpoints or shards for everyone to enjoy?
You're not supposed to enjoy the free track. You're supposed to get frustrated and spend money.

I like how they clearly ran out of ideas even before the first battlepass release.
It had a charm that is a purple arcade cabinet. Why is it purple? Why an arcade cabinet? It would have been so easy to make it not look completely awful by just adding a different texture for the screen, or change the "body" of the cabinet to have stickers or graffiti or something on it. But nah, giant purple blob it is.
@Zozzy said:
But what ever will they fill the track with to keep the grind just as heavy but also trigger the psychology of getting a new shiny?
"You unlocked 1 new reward!" You click it. You see it's another ugly charm that no one will ever use or remember that it even exists. But the next level has a cosmetic! And it costs only 100 Auric Cells to unlock it immediately!
That's the reason the charms exist, like you said. It's manipulative and designed to be as scummy as possible to get people to spend money.

I can finish the entire battle pass of apex legends when I do the entire season NOTHING but start playing 1 week before it ends. Try that with dbd. Oh Wait, you telling me I have to play EVERYDAY multiple hours (not even considering lobby times) and I don't even get that great stuff compared to the battle pass of apex? Oh damn.
But it's okay because you can buy the cosmetics eventually! Except for the fact that the first battlepass ended over 7 months ago and you still can't buy the items nor are there news when that will become possible.

Hopefully the new MMR is going to more accurately reveal the issues in high level (in terms of skill) games. Rank never meant anything so it was difficult for the devs to look at matches with high level players because how would you distinguish those matches from others?
The new MMR should be very useful for that.

sounds have been bugged forever for killers. Can't hear gens properly when they are one level above or below you, can't always hear survivors breathing or running, can't always hear survivors when they are on the ground. I experienced a pretty rare bug the other day where all my sounds were reversed, left was right and forward was backward.
Most of the issues are killer sided, so if you don't play a lot of killer, you probably won't notice them. The devs are usually pretty good at keeping survivor bugs to a minimum.
Survivor bugs are a lot easier to notice though. There are always four survivors, while there is only one killer and not every game will have the same killer. Survivor bugs that affect specific characters are rare.
-
@Almo Are there any updates regarding Plague being bugged?

The only time I've had it in the last week was when a Survivor brought the offering for Midwich. dunno

And what about the issues regarding her aim? Why is such a glaring issue not being addressed?
It's not in the patch notes because it's not fixed yet, but I have no idea why no one is confirming if whether it's a bug or intentional.

Even just an acknowledgement as to whether it's intended or a bug would be nice. I need to know if this is something we have to get used to.

The sickness sound bug should be fixed this upcoming 4.1.1 hot fix. There might still be a little bit of issue where they only start coughing a few seconds in, but we're already looking into that. If the sound is still completely broken then, feel free to open a separate thread for this.
Cheers.
I don't know why this wasn't listed in the patch notes though.

I guess there wont be and Summer event and may not even a winter event..
But why? I really love these event and the atmostphare they had. Why wont they return?
Last year the excuse was that due to working on dedicated servers there was no time to do the event. Even though the offerings, hook models, generator models and even summer themed skins were all available (the skins were sold in the store instead).
This year there probably won't even be any attempt at an explanation and by next year no one will remember or care that the event once existed.

There is a bug report with status "ACKNOWLEDGED", so it's probably a bug and not intentional:
@tlehky said:
I assume that the vomiting is some interpolation of parabola; something like p = -k*x^2. (^2 == squared) where x is Real etc.
The angle at which plague vomits has changed drastically, it has increased; its insanely annoying and I cannot get over it and play her like this.
At this point when you spawn and puke, you throw up high into air (" parabola " going through maximum and then falling off down; Now it literally feels like an artillery kekw.
Before current patch; when you spawned and puked with the same camera angle, the result would look something like the same parabola, but it wouldnt puke through the maximum, it would be falling off straight from the begining. It felt as if the origin of the vomit was the maximum point of parabola [her mouth];
(in my mind, the point where the height of vomit either stops increasing or starts decreasing/decaying is the maximum of p)
At the current patch, playing plague and puking directly on people is impossible for me, because you literally have to watch into the ground to vomit at them - at this point you cant even see them properly lol.
Found this by manually going through the Bug Reports subforum as the search is still broken for me.
-
@PassarinoT said:
All I know is that I am a wreck with that new angle and can't play her unless it's permanent and I have to get used to it.
can't play her unless it's permanent and I have to get used to it.
This is the same issue I have. With the new angle you essentially have to re-learn how to aim but doing so is a waste of time if it's not intentional and will be fixed.

Plague remains unplayable, neat.

Is there any chance a notification could be set up that would give feedback on successful reports? I've seen a lot of sites implement updates to users only when a report is found to have merit, and the community became a lot more active in reporting negative behavior, believed more in the efficiency of moderation, and had a more clear understanding of what was considered over-the-line. Every site I've seen this happen on, it's seemed to be nothing but a positive thing.
Steam itself has a system like this. If you report a profile and they act on your report you get a message saying that something was done about a profile you reported (but without telling you which profile it was). If you report multiple profiles you get a generic "action has been taken against multiple profiles you reported messages". I believe they are also sent out much longer after they acted on the reports so you can't identify which profile it was.
-
@Almo said:
I can confirm, your MMR will not start at a default if you've already been playing, since MMR has already been running in the background though it's not been used to create matches.
If you have a new account, it will start at a default, and it settles after about 10 games.
Do PTBs factor in this at all? Will the MMR update based on PTB games?
-
@mottigedel said:
the MMR will never ever ever everrr be shown because dbd players always find a way to abuse a system.
Imagine the forums with visible MMR. Every single discussion would be derailed with "My MMR is higher than yours, so your opinion doesn't matter." and then multiple people start arguing until the thread gets closed.

Also the outfits will eventually be available in the store so right now it's just free things until it releases, at which point you'll be able to purchase it at a discount since you already own a piece.
If you don't want to buy the pass you don't have to. The only thing that's exclusive there as far as we know are charms.
Emphasis on eventually. Eventually can be ten years from now. The stuff from the first battlepass still hasn't been released and there are no news either.

Another solution: Go to Looking for Games here, or join official dbd discord. Ask "can someone help me with this challenge?" Someone is bound to say yes, work with them.

I was about to say I'd prefer the "in a single trial" variant because then you'd only have to do it once, but then a question occurred to me.
For clarity's sake, do you get credit towards the challenge as long as even a single survivor escapes before you, or do you need to play three games where everyone makes it out.
I'd initially read it as the latter, but now I realize that may not be so. If, in game 1, a single Survivor makes it out before you do, do you still get credit for 1 escape? Or if two people leave, you leave, and the last person gets out, does that count for two points towards the challenge or zero, because only two people left before you.
If you don't need all three other survivors to get out before you, then that makes the challenge much more manageable, if also requiring more games to complete.
You need 3 progress.
You get +1 progress when another survivor escapes while you are alive.
You do not lose progress if you die. You can get it one game if all three other survivors escape while you are alive. You can do it over the course of multiple games. You can get +1 progress in one game and then +2 progress in another game. Or you can get +1 in three separate games.

I'm telling you, I just watched 3 people walk out of gates while I was struggling on the hook, and was then greeted with 0/3. I can tell you for a fact that you do not get points if you don't survive despite the ambiguous wording of the challenge.

I got +2 progress yesterday even though I died, if you didn't get progress there might be a bug if you get all the progress in one game.
The description does not say that you need to escape either. The way the challenge is written it does not matter if you escape or not. It would say something like "... and then escape.". Consider making a bug report here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs

No, you do not. My second attempt I took the killer away from the gates and went on my second hook as all 3 left, still 0/3. You do have to escape as well.
I got +2 progress yesterday even though I died, if you didn't get progress there might be a bug if you get all the progress in one game.

That tome is just a long winded way of saying "get hatch."
Can get hatch while 3 others escape probably once a day, I havent gotten to that one, but just run a end game hatch build? and grind until you get it.
You don't have to do it in one game. Any time someone escapes while you are alive you get +1 progress. Doesn't matter how. Doesn't matter if you then die.
If you are on the hook and everyone else escapes because the killer has NOED for example you would get progress for every survivor that escapes.

You're getting part of it wrong when you say "each time a survivor leaves the trial before you die/escape", because you yourself also have to escape in order to get credit.
because you yourself also have to escape in order to get credit.
You do not. You get credit every time someone escapes, while you are alive. If you then die you do not lose your progress.

Yep, and people wonder why their "reports" never get a response, because people are reporting stuff like this as if it is actually griefing.
Is there even one match where one survivor doesnt get the killer kited near them? THis is every single match.
To be fair the report system is awful, there is no feedback system that tells you that your reports are invalid. So people keep making them. As long as you are making the reports in good faith, i.e. not creating obviously false reports, then you won't be banned.

Working with the opposite team to gain an advantage or grief teammates
This is not that as being in a chase is a normal part of the game and the survivor and killer are not working together.
Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience
It can be that but only if it happens over multiple games. With the information given here it does not sound like someone is being targeted.
Shaking off the killer onto another survivor when you are injured is a valid strategy, it gives you time to either heal yourself or find someone who can heal you.

Hearthstone Battlegrounds has a similar system, it looks like this:
