You know you can just predrop filler pallets and play windows, maze tiles, shack, path pallets and buildings, right? There's literally nothing forcing you to give control of the pallet to the killer, and to be perfectly honest there's no way a wraith can hit you at a thrown pallet unless it's naturally very unsafe or you severely misplay. Otherwise, at your normal unsafe pallet, he has to play it like an m1 killer because if he cloaks and goes for a lunge you can just rotate around the loop to avoid it.
-
Plague, because she's such a complex, micromanaging killer and so difficult to play well, but so damn rewarding.
-
Oh, that's just beautiful. Messing with flashlights is the new Nerf Pig.
-
They shouldn't, and based on me having to run into a crossmap chainsaw to save my... Less-than-skilled dead-on-hook teammate, Billy's Chainsaw definitely doesn't reveal Devour Hope.
However, it's a lot more complex that yes or no, because for a while there certian powers were bugged and revealed the Hex totems while others didn't, and if I'm being perfectly honest I'm extremely paranoid that not all of the killers have been fixed.
But I do run Devour Hope a lot (I never take it off) on Huntress and people don't seem to panic until I've just Mori'd a survivor, so...
-
Legions power is to strip away defences and isolate survivors with Feral Frenzy, then down them with good M1 skills. Perks like Ruin and Thanatapbobia synergise well with their power, as do perks that help in an M1 chase.

Can we talk about the crutch killer build? Corrupt, ruin,pop,tinkerer/bbq. When it works it stalls the game with corrupt. Then you have 2 gen regression perks which ones guaranteed to get value. In a match were this works the killer gets so much leeway the survivors cant come back from. Then throw it on a good killer that already opperates fine like blight nurse or spirit its very overkill.
To be perfectly fair, there's a difference between a strong build and a second chance build.
-
This is the very first thing I thought of when I saw the OoO rework and I still haven't bothered to try it because I automatically equip No Mither, which as fun as it is kind of makes the entire secondary effect of MoM completely bloody useless.

I'm fairly certain that's the entire point of these challenges.

When I played her after 20+ matches I found that with a decent set of headphones and either no iron will on a survivor or strider it's pretty much an easy game in respect to chases. The only time I struggled with her was if it was a team who split up and slammed gens as fast as they could.
I see my joke has not stuck the landing.
-
@Kirkylad said:
I played her when she first came out but after a while not enjoying going against her because of how broken she is I stopped because it felt kinda hypocritical to still play her if I hate going against her.
I don't find it hypocritical to play a killer you don't like to go against, if anything it lends weight to your opinion.
Personally I play all killers to find their counterplay, which is actually extremely helpful when I'm going against a bad Spirit because then I just copy what survivors do to me.

Whaaat? You can't just play a couple games of a new killer, do awfully as him, refuse to change up your strategy and improve from game to game, and use your losses not as a way to learn, but as a lazy way to justify having a misguided opinion you've already decided that you're not gonna change? Hmmm...
We love the popular opinion. We love echo chambers.
Trickster is definitely the biggest example of this that I've seen.

Honestly completely agree with this. I've played this game for something around 3200 now and if one of my high hour friends picks her up unironically I kinda lose some respect for them since they knowingly pick something that makes others feel miserable.
Nearly every killer makes a large portion of the playerbase feel miserable. I don't really see the problem with someone wanting to play Spirit when I've had my life threatened multiple times for playing Plague, Blight or Legion.

Oof! This thread will get heated pretty fast, I reckon.
Anyway, I don't really hate her. I think she has a very nice design aesthetically, with a fundamentally flawed power that BHVR won't address because of their usual sunk-cost fallacy.
Remember when they said the new hud was going through because of 'months of work'? Same with Spirit's status. They spent 30k on her development. So, I figure she's pretty much untouchable at this point.
I only play as her for dailies with a machine gun build: stbfl, unrelenting, corrupt and bbq. I go for jumpscare hits.
The standstill mInDgAmE? I honestly do it, because in reality it's not a 50/50. I mean, it's a coin flip for the survivor to guess if a phase is happening or not. But the thing is, it's irrelevant if they guess right or not. Even if they guess correctly that you're phasing, you just track them. It's really that simple. When the bug caused the phasing sound in terror radius, you could play just fine, exactly for that reason.
Other than that, I'm really not interested. Spirit is a tracking killer with a guaranteed hit. People who talk about prediction are playing incorrectly, that's when they find her hard. The only real 50/50s are at god pallets/windows, which just take a few more seconds to be dealt with. Heck, they even shadow buffed her recently when they made grunts from slow vaulting louder (you could already hear them during phasing).
P.S. forgot about passive phasing. Why is that even a thing,? Or, rather, I should say passive mINDgAmINg. She's the qUeeN oF mINDgAmINg, after all.
I've never heard someone call Spirit a "tracking killer" before, normally that's reserved for killers with a tracking power. But I guess the fact that she can essentially drop chase at will to get sounds back is more than enough of a tracking tool when your power is basically the strongest form of in-chase stealth that DbD has ever had.

I like putting on trash perks on her. It's fun getting to use dumb ######### but I still feel bad because there's nothing they can do in the 1v1.
Before Undying was changed I had a fun Hex build (Haunted Grounds, Devour Hope, TOTH, Retribution) but I couldn't resist swapping Retribution for Undying and now I hate myself.
-
If they're looping around a rock you play it like Huntress would: hold W after them and m1.
Or you could learn to time your knives and pelt them.

Proud Spirit hater here.
I haven't played her in a while, but I now choose not to use perks on here. If I do want to use perks on her, then I'd probably just use Shadowborn and BBQ. No add-ons as her base-kit is already pretty damn powerful.
I feel like her passive phasing add-ons are a pretty nice extra to throw on and play M1 Spirit with
-
Removing holding m1 and replacing it with item fetching to force potential interactions.
-
If you want to play a killer, go ahead. But it's clear you're feeling insecure about it since you're coming onto the forums and implying that survivors are just crybabies.
-
I have a very different experience to most. I've been watching DbD content ever since the game came out in 2016, so I guess I have two first impressions. When I first saw the game I thought "wow, how would the killers ever lose? How would SWF ever help, all those people talking is such a huge nerf!"
Then I actually started playing a bit before Ghostface came out and my impression was that everyone else sucked because I was always the only one doing gens and also Spirit was really fun but really weak.
-
Yes, everyone should always spawn together. If they spawn spread out, that's 3 gens gone that the killer has no say in whatsoever. If they all spawn together they have to waste time spreading out themselves or doing 1 gen extremely inefficiently
-
That could be a thing. It seems really powerful but it's mostly just decent due to it not being instadowns and laceration decay.
-
Yeah, that's a thing. A bit of advice I can give is to not try and track the survivor, but to use your lunge and their 360 to beat them to a pallet or window so you can bodyblock them.

Not sure if it was hacking or glitching. It was a console user. And nothing throughout the match was questionable.
That was hacking. Losing collision, massive speed boost, no discernable lag and crouching the whole time?
You may not hav been able to spot the hacks throughout the trial, but they were there. The scariest things that have happened to me in DbD were the hacks I only caught wind of due to attentiveness and/or perk effects. I had a trial where my Tinkerer was proccing right before gens would be finished, and even then I almost wrote if off as a glitch til the last one went from nearly 0 to done in 10 seconds with only 1 survivor. A few times I've had people use exhaustion perks multiple times in a chase.
-
I trust they could pull it of thematically speaking. After Trickster, they have my confidence on that front.

It's not near as complicated as you make it seem for blight. There's a lot of tiles where the answer is not even using your power and just chasing them down as a 4.6 because you can.
Where as that same tile nurse can be cucked by LOS. And literally can't chase them down because she literally moves slower then the survivor and HAS to use her power to get a hit
Actually, it is that complicated for Blight, because in order to achieve the same level of sheer uncounterable-ness as a Nurse the Blight has to know how to play every maze tile, main building, shack and most filler pallets, all of which requires the Blight to formulate plans and paths without ever being able to see the destination.
Nurse has to blink to where she lost LoS and not be an idiot trying to predict everything.

Thank you.
Yes, red ranks tend to be more sweaty, but it isn't something that's very noticable, because players in the lower ranks sweat to get to red ranks. This is my experience, of course, so take it with a grain of salt.
Also, that sounded like I was being incredibly patronising but I'm not kidding. You're game sense is better than mine.

I don't think it can. Even if it can, which I highly doubt, I'm not smart enough to do it. Nothing was "off".
I never tunnel. I hate people who do. You see, you shouldn't play to make the other side have fun. That's their job. However, being an ######### is wrong, and that's what tunneling is, since it isn't necessary to win.
Rank doesn't mean anything. Every good player knows this. Even the devs have said that it doesn't correlate directly to skill, on Twitter I think. Anyways, if you think that rank means skill, the only thing I can tell you is: Get good.
For proof that nothing is "off", I'm going to ask another veteran player to verify it for me. If you won't take my word for it, you should definitely take theirs.
Does this look like I'm hacking?
https://youtu.be/bEjBP30yo1E
I need another experienced player to verify this for me if you don't mind.
I haven't watched the whole thing, but from what I saw you simply have good fundementals. Well done.
Although I would say that rank matters, not in terms of actual skill, but sweatiness. Rank 1 is a cesspit of people doing everything they can to win, not that that makes them very good or even very effective.

I fail to see how servers come into play. However, I also know that you're really good, so I won't immediately insult your skill 😂
So can you explain to me how servers dictate how good a player is?
Different cultures breed different playstyles. I'm not sure entirely how it works, but I do know that AU has a rather small playerbase comparitively, and a higher concentration of veteran survivors that are teaching newer survivors to absolutely slam gens by proxy (people take ques from those around them, after all).
On EU I've been told that evenings actually chill the trials out quite a bit. It has the highest number of VPNers out of the servers I have experience with (NA/EU/AU and I actually think NA might be split into NA east and NA west, because I sometimes chill on LA servers but when I SWF with people from NA east it's a fair bit more intense and the killers do less hardcore camping and tunnelling and more actually trying to win. I've heard NA players talking about the difference as well).
None of this is actually reflective of player skill, though - I'd argue that AU has the worst collection of loopers out of all of them, it's just that people down here are really, really sweaty.

I disagree and think you diminish the skill nurse takes. And over value the skill blight actually takes. But that's fine. We all have our opinions.
I really don't, Nurse is propped up on a pedestal by this community because of her punishing skill curve. People love to ignore that it drops off pretty damn quickly, leaving a Nurse with a dozen hours shredding through teams with hundreds, if not thousands, on survivor.
Whereas Blight, to achieve a similar level of strength, needs to know exactly how to play every tile to remove any potential counterplay a la Nurse.
-
@Northener1907 said:
Is learning hard? I wanna try him but also i scared. Nurse is already hard and takes my time
He's much harder than Nurse to play effectively. She just needs accurate blinks and basic knowledge of how to use them - other than that, she travels in straight lines and requires little thought.
Blight, on the other hand, requires a lot of practice to learn how to play tiles, and what tiles to play as an m1 killer. By extension he also requires good m1 skills. Mostly, however, you need to be able to take in a whole lot of information, sort it instantly, discard what's useless, and unlike Nurse he has to focus on much more than just the location of the survivor.

But ISP's have nothing to do with DbD servers. At all. In any way. It's the DbD servers that are the issue. Bringing up ISP's is like me complaining about a crappy sandwich and you saying I should have ordered a different drink to go with it.

Based on what I learned, it sometimes depends on your preferences. Personally for me, yes because of the bloodweb benefit.
There's effectively no bloodweb benefit. People have noted down every bloodweb they get from 0 to all perks and found so little increase in rare items that they ended up with maybe 2-3 extra pinks or purples. Overall, not 2-3 extra of each pink or purple item/add-on/offerring.

There's more then one internet provider in an area.
If not then it's still on them, and still I don't believe getting kicked from a match once a day is going to give you an hour ban unless their also quitting their match as well.
Okay, first of all, there are plenty of locations in which there is only one provider, and/or in which the best provider still sucks. In fact, I'd say that's the majority of locations.
Second of all, why are you focusing on someone's ISP when the scenario I opened up with is an individual with the best possible internet connection in the world? Do you even understand the concept of poor server-side management or distance-based connection issues? None of these have anything to do with someones ISP, stop bringing it up.

So I guess Coal Tower is a lie, Shelter Woods simply doesn't exist, Wreckers Yard? Whats that? The Chapel? Oh I guess that never happened and the list goes on, these are just the ones I can think out of the top of my head
Also if you can't get a down on Hawkins after a bit, that's not the game bud, sorry to break it to ya.
Yes there are more survivor favored maps than killer ones. But don't act like killers don't have their fair share of maps that are strong for them
It's because killers have different powers and therefore different maps that work for them. Shelter Woods, for example, is an absolute nightmare as any m1 killer because the W key exists and is extremely powerful on large maps like that.
Also, wreckers yard and chapel got some hefty buffs with the reworks. Chapel went from being similar to coal tower to being just awful, and wreckers yard has that giant X-shape of chained tiles around the shack and it's extremely dark.
-
The maps broadly fall into either being survivor sided or relatively balanced (aka, rng dependant/miserable for everyone/Coal Tower). The only exception to this is Azarovs, and perhaps Sanctum of Wrath (inherent 3-to-4-gen scenarios and bottlenecks).
This is mostly just holdover from the older version of the game, when people were much worse and much less efficient.

Your wish is not possible with current technology. There is no way for the game to know that one DC is due to steam going down, or an ISP going down, or a storm, or someone pulling the plug, or pressing alt-F4, or whatever.
All the game sees is that someone quit, and punishes. It can't infer motive and emotions.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2204503#Comment_2204503
Also, this is insanely wrong to the point of being a deliberate lie. The punishment system works on a ratio of disconnects to completed games. if you're getting punished with 'hours long' bans, it's because you disconnect more than you complete games.
Last year I had a week where this happened due to work being done on my street and I think I got up to a day-long ban at the end of it after disconnecting less than once per 24 hour period.
The Devs might have fixed it so that doesn't happen any more, but I wouldn't know because they never tell.

SA servers late at night are terrifying, at least in my experience. That is when the sweaty lords come out to play.
Oh gods, do you folks get the 3-4 minute gen time average as well? I think it might be a southern hemisphere thing, even when I play survivor it's a coin toss as to whether my team will be average players, or absolutely slamming those gens.
Edit: then I have some free time at lunch and I load up to play a very, very different game.
-
Survivors can't get 5 gens done in 2 minutes, but they can polish off 4 and be halfway through the 5th, and if you factor in travel time that 5th gen will still be finished.
And that's assuming the survivors did absolutely nothing until the first person was hooked.
-
@CoalTower said:
If you can't handle red ranks, then derank, or just get good and don't complain. Yes, there is an occasional sweat squad, but it's not difficult to win most games, because the average red rank survivor is hot trash.
Actually, that really does depend on the servers and time of day. Mornings on EU are absolutely terrifying, as are evenings on AU. NA is kind of bad in the evenings but never reaches those heights in my experience.
