Yeah, achieving 100 double pips is not hard at all, even if you're rank 1
And you could, as @Pulsar said, play a killer with which double pipping is easier and prestige every survivor without ever touching a survivor
The fact that you have a chance of getting a token event if you simply pip makes thing even worse, basically you just play a lot (pipping is not hard, especially if you play a lot) and you end up with a bunch of tokens
-
A 2 man SWF usually makes things bearable. Usually.
If I don't have a friend to play with I'll play killer to complete my challenges, or play survivor only if I have "easy" challenges like "Gain x amount of bloodpoints", so I'm not worried too much about my teammates screwing things up

I mean sea of theives has a crossplatform ptb but thats a microsoft owned property
afaik that's a completely different version of the game and is always available, isn't it? It wouldbe like having 2 DBDs games always available, one with the Live version, one with the PTB version, but it wouldn't really make sense for a game like DBD since 90% of the time the PTB version would be the same as the live one

Packet loss, it means that somewhere between the server and your computer some bit of information is lost
Directly quoted from the patch notes in which it was implemented:
- Improved Feature: HUD Connection Indicators The in-game connection indicator has been improved to show more detailed information during connection issues stemming from ping and packet loss
- Ping is represented by a vertical bar icon
- Yellow = Ping over 100ms
- Red = Ping over 200ms
- Packet Loss is represented by a double-diamond icon
- Yellow = 2%-5% packet loss
- Red = More than 5% packet loss
- Your own Ping / Packet Loss icons are displayed above the Survivor List
- Players are notified when another player is experiencing severe connection issues (Red for Ping / Packet Loss)For Killer issues: A unique red icon appears above the Survivor List for Survivors
- For Survivor issues: A red bar appears next to their name on the Survivor List
- Improved Feature: HUD Connection Indicators The in-game connection indicator has been improved to show more detailed information during connection issues stemming from ping and packet loss

It means that if you had a character that was level 50 BEFORE update 6.1.0 dropped, you'll gain 2 additional prestige levels for some reason.
Except if that character was P3, in that case you can go suck your thumb because you're not worhty of BHVR's attention.

Countless flans and cakes were sacrifieced to get +2 bonus levels to get all perks unlocked and here we are with +2 levels anyway. I can't understand why didn't they warn us about that. I know I made a decigion to sacrifice those offerings and items but if I could get SAME result without doing so why would I prestige and sacrifice?
You know what's more interesting? My P3-50 Felix got +2 levels too. He's 17 prestige live and 19 prestige PTB. I thought it may be intended as compensation for promised P11, but now I understand it's bug and will be fixed, lol.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3210776#Comment_3210776
Before the update we were promised to get bonus for being P3 AND having perk tiers. Then they removed part of those bonuses by capping prestiges on level 9 and lowered this reward even more by making every prestige counts as two. So there was no difference betwen P3-lvl1 and P3-lvl50-plus-all-possible-perks although you can see the difference in spent time and BPs clearly.
I have only one super-main survivor, Felix was only one P3-lvl-50 with all perks but after the update he wasn't any different from any other survivour even though I spent much more BPs into him. If there was no cap will all same rules, P3-lvl1 would be P9 and P3-all-perks would be P15 (P3 into P9 and all perks into additional 6 prestiges).
Yes, there wasn't P4, but yes, it would be good to get a proper prestige equivalent for this "level of dedication" or whatever they call it. It's kinda sad they ignore "true" dedication. P15 is nice reward for P3-all-perks, even despite the fact I, for example, spent millions BPs above perks limit. And it's not THAT high, 15/100 is super low number still. But nope. All of us with P3-50 mains were scratched out once before with P9 cap and again with no additional levels of prestige. I'm not super angry but looks kinda crappy and not so "catch-y up" as they claimed, if you ask me :/
This
100% this
Let's do some math
People who had a Character P0 level 50 (all perks) before the update:
0 bonus prestige levels because they were P0
6 bonus prestige levels because they had all perks
Prestige level after update: 6
Prestige level after the second catch-up mechanic: P8
People who had a Character to P1 level 50 (all perks) before the update:
2 bonus prestige levels because they were P1
6 bonus prestige levels because they had all perks
Prestige level after update: 9
Prestige level after the second catch-up mechanic: P11
People who had a Character to P2 level 50 (all perks) before the update:
4 bonus prestige levels because they were P2
6 bonus prestige levels because they had all perks
Prestige level after update: 9 (prestige was capped to 9 for some reason, so 3 prestige levels were ignored here)
Prestige level after the second catch-up mechanic: P11
People who had a Character to P3 level 50 (all perks) before the update:
6 bonus prestige levels because they were P2
6 bonus prestige levels because they had all perks
Prestige level after update: 9 (prestige was capped to 9 for some reason, so 6 prestige levels were ignored here)
Prestige level after the second catch-up mechanic: P9
In conclusion:
P0 level 50 all perks? Prestige 8
P1 level 50 all perks? Prestige 11
P2 level 50 all perks? Prestige 11
P3 level 50 all perks? Prestige 9
Nothing wrong here, right?

You did get the bonus for being P3. The maximum prestige before the update was 3. If you were P3L50 before the update, you got the bonus for each of your prestige levels, 1, 2 and 3. There wasn't a bonus for being P4 - there wasn't a P4 before the update. So it doesn't make sense why you would get a retroactive extra bonus now, for being P3 LVL50. ie. nearly P4 before the update. There was no P4 before the update, and no bonus for being P4!
And people who were P1 level 50 already got their 2 bonus prestige levels when the update dropped.
Why would they get 2 more now? They didn't prestige before the update losing all the items, addons and perks in the process. That's what the bonus levels were for.
Don't argue that the update treaded people who were P3 level 50 correctly, because it did nothing BUT that. I can list you the reasons if you want, this add only salts to the pre-existing wound.
-
@oporopolist said:
"They even SPECIFICALLY left out people who had their character to P3 level 50."
You are missing the point I think. Why would their be a boost for P3L50? You already got P9 for them. The whole point was +2 bonus P for each of the *****old 3 levels***** of prestige!
The maximum level of prestige is 100 though, why wouldn't I like to have a boost like everyone else?
What's the point of NOT giving the bonus level to people who were P3?
-
Wow, BHVR is not even trying to hide the fact that they want people who prestiged before the update feel like idiots at this point.
They even SPECIFICALLY left out people who had their character to P3 level 50.
Thanks BHVR, you really appreciate your most dedicated players 😂

It blows my mind how many random things they're breaking with this bizarre desire to make cypress moris mandatory.
I mean, if they made Cypress memento mori basekit and made it so that you are teleported to a certain spot of the map, that would have achieved a very similar outcome to this solution but no, we have to say goodbye to slug races, giving the last survivor hatch, realizing that you went too hard on a survivor team and giving them another chance, and I hope the last mori counts as a sacrifice AND hook state, because all other "Sacrifice X survivors" or "Hook survivors X times" challenges will become a bit more tedious all of a sudden otherwise
-
@kisfenkin said:
The crawling out of the hatch challenge will also need a rework.
Mmm I can't remember that, in which Tome was it?
-
Whoever thought about hte conditions tied to the offerings needs to reevaluate their thinking process.
To gain the Ebony mori bonus bloodpoints you need to put in MORE effort than to gain the bonus bloodpoints of the Ivory and Cypress?
What?
Just remove the prerequisite of killing X survivors in order to gain the bonus and leave the Finisher Mori requirement for all 3 offerings
EDIT: Thinking more of it, 20k bloodpoints (or nothing) for an IRIDESCENT offering? What the #########? A pudding gives up to 40k (and even if it goes bad you always get something out of it) and that is a YELLOW offering. They need to bump up the bonus to 30k AT LEAST

Prestige portraits shouldn't be exclusive TBH. Make them a P50 or P100 reward. I think both people who got them early and those who missed out would be fine with that.
I think both people who got them early and those who missed out would be fine with that.
Nope, not at all.
The whole situation was handled worse than badly by BHVR, making the "amazing" and EXCLUSIVE reward obtainable by everyone would put the last ######### nail in the coffin.
Although, knowing this community, BHVR could get away with doing that somehow.

I don't think DBD has a cheating situation that is particularly worse than other games, you only notice it because of Otz who has 10K viewers and having a streamer this big compared to the playerbase size is quite unique. But how often do you see cheaters in your game? Personally it's like one per month and I assume it's the same for others so in the end the game is still perfectly playable for 95% of the playerbase. The fact Otz is affected that much I would say that it is then more a stream sniper problem than a cheating problem.
The anti-cheats are bypassed in months because the hackers nowadays are companies with multiple hackers hired full-time and with years of experience. It still doesn't mean the anti cheat is not good. It is imo extremely good, but it can't do miracles, as I said, the anticheat cannot take ownership of the hacker's CPU, while the hacker can.
I don't get the EAC issues you mention personally, but I don't doubt you have them, there's no miracle. Most anticheat methods have performance downsides, because they rely on scanning some part of the memory to make sure they haven't changed, or intercepting important system functions and adding checks, etc. When that happens it makes your game slower of course. But it's not because the AntiCheat is poorly coded, it's because the method itself needs resources. So if EAC makes your game slower, it means it's likely better than other anticheats at detecting cheats.
Blatant cheaters? Yeah, once a month or something like that. Subtle cheaters? Not sure, but it happens often to find one or two "suspicious" players in a game, so I can't really tell.
The issue is not only "How often do you find cheaters", but how the problem is dealt with as well, we can disagree on the effectivity of EAC, but the least that BHVR could do is make it easier to report someone, and speed up the ticket review process to ban cheaters faster.
-
@ImNotBobDylan said:

Name one game that does not have a cheat problem? I've read on hacking forums the list of the techniques EAC uses and it is very long. It would take even a skilled software engineer literal years to write a code that bypasses them all. I don't think there is an anti-cheat that is "better", they all probably share the same techniques, but the only difference is how intrusive they want to be
I never said that other games don't have issues with cheaters, of course they do, it's a constant arms race between anticheats and (proper) hackers.
EAC is not one of the best anticheats out there, simply going by how often it gives some kind of issue ("EAC could not be instantiated" anyone?) or how it affects in certain cases the performances of the games in which is used (see all the stuttering and freezing issues that Elden Ring had, those magically disappear if you launch the game without EAC)
Sure, the techinques will be similar between one anticheat and the other, but you can't deny that some games have a way more rampant cheater issue than others, even if they have roughly the same amount of players.
And say what you want, apparently the "years" that you claim it would take a software engineer to bypass the EAC rules are bypassed in a matter of months, so those don't matter that much at this point.
-
@ImNotBobDylan said:
Answer is painful: there's no communication because there's no good news to communicate (and there won't ever be).
People who say things like "just stop cheaters" or "improve the anti-cheat" are completely delusional and unaware of how IT works. The game already uses EAC which likely has a whole company behind it and thousands of detection methods, the fact that is not enough should make you realize it's never easy to "just stop cheaters".
The reality is, hackers are just too difficult/expensive to fight. Its a never-ending game of cat and mouse where the hackers are always favored, because as long as the game will be in the form of a program that runs on their CPU, someone who knows what they're doing can always inject/read from that program, it's their CPU, not BHVR's. No Anti Cheat can fight that unless they become ridiculously intrusive like Valorant.
TBF, Easy AntiCheat is not at all one of the best anticheat system out there
Still, that doesn't mean it's an easy task to "stop cheaters", but saying that EAC is a good enough product is delusional as well
Because remember, we're not talking about proper hackers. We're talking about kids that buy cheats off of youtube/twitch.

I understand the whole "PrImE GaMiNg Is FrEe" argument, but FFS, compare what DBD rewards look like to the rewards you get for other games and try defending them again.
Defending BHVR on this is only self-sabotage, giving them the green light to reduce EVEN MORE the quality of the rewards in the future. What's next? 5k bloodpoints? A brown offering? A thank you PNG that you can't use in game?
Jesus Christ..

You'd be surprised by how easy it is to recharge Distortion tokens
Plus, 10 seconds of no scratch marks should be enough to find a locker to hide in to avoid losing the second token at the beginning of the match
But other than that I agree with you, it's dumb that it takes away 2 tokens otherwise

Or start the 3 seconds at the same time the survivor can begin moving, not before.
This is the main issue with DS
Sure, the killer is stunned for 3 seconds, but the survivor is locked in animation for around half a second, so that leaves them with 2.5 seconds of time to run away
Pretty useless in most cases and definitely not worth the perk slot, especially when you can use the perk only ONCE during two very specific timeframes.

I hope it's not an intended change
But I fear that BHVR, through a twisted af reasoning, decided that it was for the best and removed it with the plan of adding it in a slightly different way in 6 months time

Yeah, especially yesterday I noticed something curious
I was in a match as killer, and there was one dwight that was lagging nearly exactly at my same time

I don’t see a downside to having an auto-buy option. On the other hand it’s not THAT big a deal, after how often do you spend hundreds of thousands or millions of bloodwebs at once? Once every three or four months when a new character comes out? It’s not a frequent thing.
It happens every time you reach the cap. Which doesn't take that much honestly (around every 80 matches or so if you say you gain an average of 25k per match)

My favourite thing is how in German ever killer is "Der/Die/Das [Name]" based on of the name is masc/fem/neut, except for Nemesis. Nemesis is literally just "Nemesis". Not even Demogorgon gets that treatment- it's "Der Demogorgon"- but Nemesis is literally just Nemesis. And nobody I've spoken to knows why.
Maybe whoever translated the name in German thought that was his proper name? Like, it would be weird to call The Trapper "Der Evan McMillan"
(Of course I know Nemesis is not his name, but maybe the person translating it to German wasn't aware of that?)

This one wasn't really bad cause you only had to finish it. Admittedly easier before the killer buffs in the last patch, but run Dark Sense, Bond, Prove Thyself and gen rushing toolbox and hop on gens with someone else when you can just to finish it. Even if you only work on it for 2 seconds it counts as long as you finish it
Sure, but as soon as the killer finds you you can say goodbye to the challenge
If you're not in a SWF someone else is going to finish at least 2 gens

I do think prestige levels should be hidden from the killer though, just not from other survivors. Nah, it should be hidden for everyone
Just like rank wasn't tied to skill, prestige is exactly the same and shouldn't be shown to anyone.
It's funny though seeing that BHVR repeats every time the same "mistakes" when there is a chance
