Nothing beats hissing and roaring at people while you chase them, especially when you land your shred from a mile away

I wish we had more non-human killers like him 😔

clown is in the next tome along with Jake if dbdleaks is corrrect which they usually are

That's not the point, of course Clown will receive his lore sooner or later, but it doesn't make sense to feature him in a Tome without giving him lore at the same time (and the Clown was just an example, they did the same thing for Oni, Claudette, Adam and in this tome with Zarina and Trapper)

how is the guy who started playing yesterday going to understand why there are Clown-related challenges in Tome V?

... people are not this dumb.

They'll see the challenge and go "oh, there's challenges for other killers" and move on

They'll see the challenge and go "oh, there's challenges for other killers" and move on

The majority of people of course, but still, can you say that no one would try and think about a reason for those challenges to be there?

    It makes sense.

A few Tomes ago, they had Lore for 4 Characters, they stepped back from this. Probably because they dont want to run out of Lore Content too quickly.

But also, the Lore Entries take time to read/listen to (especially listening). So with less Lore Content, it is more likely that people actually consume it.

And why it makes sense - in the first Tome, there were only Trapper-Challenges as Killer-specific Challenges. This resulted in a lot of Trapper-games, because basically everyone had to play him. With 2 Killers, they at least have more diversity and you dont go against Plagues (in this Tome) on a constant basis, because people will also have to play Trapper.

A few Tomes ago, they had Lore for 4 Characters, they stepped back from this. Probably because they dont want to run out of Lore Content too quickly.

I don't know how fast they can run out of lore considering that there are currently 48 total characters in dbd and they add usually 2 more once every 3 months, which is more or less the same time they release a new Tome, making it impossible to cover all killer and survivors at least once (nothing is preventing them to EXPAND on the lore of a character who was already featured in a previous Tome)

in the first Tome, there were only Trapper-Challenges as Killer-specific Challenges. This resulted in a lot of Trapper-games, because basically everyone had to play him.

There were 4 challenges across the whole Tome I that forced you to play Trapper.

We already have 3 challenges that force you to play Plague in the current Tome, and the last level is not unlocked yet (and 2 of them were concentrated in the same level of the Tome, which only made it so that in that period you were a lot more likely to face Plague).

What they could do is add master challenges related to generic killer perks, like they did for the first Tome, or add generic master challenges instead of tying them to characters unrelated to the Tome.

    OR

They could backtrack on the decision of limiting the lore to 2 characters per Tome as I said earlier, maybe 4 is too many, ok, what about 3?

Just a note: the thing that is pissing me off about the most recent archives is that it looks like they had planned to add the lore of the "extra" characters in the Tome, they prepared the outfits and challenges that tied to that lore, and then simply removed the lore pieces from the Tome because reasons.

Take Clown's outfit from the Rift which came out with Tome V

    image.png

IDK, but this screams LORE to me, and I would have liked to know what was going on in Clown's territory while unlocking this.

Just asking, I thought this Tome was about the Plague and Bill, right?

Because "recently" they started adding challenges that don't make sense to the Tomes

The first one was during the halloween "event", when they added challenges for Clown and Adam even tho they had nothing related to them in the Tome.

Yes, both Clown and Adam had skins in the Rift, but aren't Rifts and Tomes two different things? The Tomes are going to always be available for completion to unlock characters' lore, while the Rift is time-limited.

    @Aven_Fallen said:

Those Characters get Lore. But other Characters (Zarina and Trapper) also get Challenges. They also have Cosmetics in the Rift.

It doesn't make sense to create the challenges based on the content of the Rift because how is the guy who started playing yesterday going to understand why there are Clown-related challenges in Tome V?

I had an ephinay the other day about how to balance keys so they match up with Mori's, while likely still being more useful. Don't let them open hatches anymore, they only open for the last survivor in the match no matter what. And instead focus on reading the killer's aura. No need to do animations, no need to use that as an excuse anymore. Just remove the detrimental and overpowered part, and still leave something for the keys to do. Let me know what you all think

The "detrimental and overpowered part", as you called it, is only the fact that 3 survivors can escape when there is still 1 gen left to do.

An easier and better fix for that would be to have the hatch spawn only when either 5 gens are done or only 1 survivor is alive.

If you want, you can toss in a 3 seconds animation to open the hatch with a key as well, but that would be only the cherry on the cake

  • @Sup3rCatTree said:

I don't DC all the time but when I do it's because I'm either really mad or just want to get out of the game. I have had killer games where the game lasts for more than 20 minutes and I just want to DC and get into another game. You cant exit the game like survivors can. So you just take the penalty or stand in the corner of the map and go AFK.

Then on survivor, I get tunneled and slugged for 5 minutes and I can't do anything, I don't want to be forced to stay in a game because of a penalty. And sometimes I just want to rage quit and just go into another game, I don't mind getting punished for rage quitting, but it gets really annoying and needs to be changed

Please either remove it or make it better so it doesn't punish people that much for DC'ing

    What about this:

Having a teammate disconnecting for whatever reason is the most annoying thing ever

Yes, being tunneled isn't pleasant, but if you're actually being tunneled you're going to finish the game in less than 5 minutes, which is the first DC penalty you'll get, so DCing is not going to solve anything.

You know how many times I was in a game in which we were pumping out gens because the killer was tunneling only one survivor, then the survivor gets pissed off, DCs and we suddenly lose because now we're in a 3v1?

    Now for the killer part

It's frustrating, yes, but unless survivors are taking the game hostage (which is annoying, but very rare) and you don't feel like playing anymore just chase the survivors without putting in effort, take some hits, break some gens, practice your power, and as soon as 5 gens are done open the gates and voilà, now you can go afk 2 minutes and go on with your life

If you don't mind getting punished for rage quitting you should understand that 5 minutes is what you need to cool down after a ######### match, and if your penalty is ramping up... well, maybe you need more than 5 minutes to calm down

  • That's..not good

Contact BHVR's support and see if they can help in any way

Are you sure you're not logging off Stadia BEFORE the game saves?

But I'm pretty sure this is bait, sooo..

  • It's a strong combo, no doubt

And it's what you would expect from combining two ultra-rare addons, nothing wrong with it imo

    1. Remove ONE perk tier (removing all perk tiers would be too much right now imo)
    2. Bonus bloodpoints are ALWAYS awarded post-trial (yeah there's no point of using bp add ons on killer if I'm going to max out Deviousness anyway)
    3. Allow players to sell addons, offerings and items for a fraction of what they paid them (I swear to god everytime I want to prestige I see all the freaking addons I CAN'T use because I have no items left and cry a little thinking about the bloodpoints I wasted)

It's intended that For the People doesn't count towards the challenge

Survivors taking the game hostage, while not common, has happened a few times and is very annoying

    And that's why it's a bannable offense.

If you realize, even mid match, that survivors are taking the game hostage, start recording, look for them for at least 10-15 minutes and when you are CERTAIN they are not doing anything to progress the game, DC and report them submitting the recording you made.

It's an annoying but rare occurence, and implementing a timer on ALL matches would only aggravate the "gens take too short time to complete" problem since you can bet your ass survivors would do ANYTHING to complete gens in the shorter time possible if they had a timer

  • Completely agree on this, the stylized version of the characters are much better than the "realistic" ones

No, see, Second Wind is actually a stroke of genius. Because you have No Mither, you're already broken, so the killer can't see your status icon coming off the hook and tell that you have Second Wind! They'll never see it coming.

For some reason it does not count as healing a Survivor for a health state which it should because it is labeled as healing in the tool tip. Not a big deal there are many other ways just wanted to let the devs know this does not seem to be working. I healed 3 people with the perk in one game on haddonfield as Laurie and got no progress for the quest.

    PC

    It's intended afaik

When a challenge is stated as "Heal a total of X health states" instead of "Finish healing X health states" you have to actively do the heal action for the progess to count

For the people changes the status of the other survivor in an instant, so it doesn't count

The best choice perks for that challenge are autodidact, botany knowledge, desperate measures and sometimes we're gonna live forever

I reached 1.184.000 bps and I'm doing the same things like before. I'm trying out some other things right now. If sth changes I'm gonna post it here.

As @NomiNomad said, bloodpoints gifted via codes or login bonuses do not count towards the cap, se the fact that you have more than 1M bloodpoints means that you still didn't use all your "gifted bloodpoints"

The cap is still there and you'll reach it sooner or later, and once you do you'll notice that even if you spend bloodpoints you won't be able to gain any more until you go below the 1M cap again

  • Healing yourself with Inner Strenght is different from healing someone else or healing yourself with a medkit

It's just something that happens because of a perk, not something you actively do

  • I'm pretty good for my expectations

All challenges done, I'm at tier 18 or something like that

Tip for the challenge you are trying to do: as long as you hit people while you are undetectable you are good to go, so on top of Dark Devotion you can use other perks that give you undetectable like Tinkerer or Beast of Prey to make it easier to do

  • @Orion said:

It's normal to read descriptions to understand how things work. The fact that this challenge works like this is either an error in its description, or a bug in the challenge conditions.

The fact that this challenge works like this is either an error in its description, or a bug in the challenge conditions.

Well the challenge says "while using the perk Dark Devotion", it doesn't say that you have to hit people while dark devotion is active, so it's not a bug

It's always been the case for older challenges as well, like for the "Kill 1 survivor by your hand while using Rancor" you could just use a mori with rancor equipped and you were good to go

  • Pretty sure mine stay equipped after a match if I still have some..maybe open a bug report?

  • The challenges you are talking about unlock the lore of those characters, it makes sense that you need those characters to do them

Plus there should always be a way around them, so you don't need them to progress in the tome (oh and be aware that character required for a tome are usually discounted, and their perks appear in the shrine of secrets right before the rift opens)

  • Yep, rift completion got a lot better, my only hope is that they don't use it as an excuse to lower the quality of the rewards that we'll get from it

So far so good, the skins in this rift are not bad at all, and the last improvement they have to do to the tome is giving the possibility of selecting a killer and a survivor challenge at the same time imo

  • @Killmaster said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2151190#Comment_2151190

The Legendary Outfit system could work, just have a set for "Classic survivor/killer". It's up to BHVR if they want to implement it or not but it wouldn't interfere with anything like trying to have old medkit or generator models in the game would.

    I don't know

I think that they are updating the models to keep the graphic engine updated to a certain level, and maybe keeping the old models available for use might throw a wrench in their plans

Or maybe not and they could keep just the very basic cosmetic without issue, IDK

  • Highly doubt there will be the possibility of choosing between the old and new model

I mean, they never gave the option to keep the old models for other things like gens and lockers (or even nurse and clown) so why would it be different for survivor models?

  • What the ######### are you standing at an open hatch for? JUMP IN!

  • Why not

Mind you, they would still be relatively easy to get since the tomes don't have an "expiry date" like the rifts do but I think they would be nice to have nonetheless

  • Uhm

Distortion not only helps you discover the killer's perks, but it counters them as well

OOO (especially if you're the obsession) is a much "riskier" version of it

I personally prefer Distortion as is, and if they were to buff it so that you can gain tokens during the match that would be amazing

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/241593/should-there-be-a-bleed-out-button

    Now for my serious response.

Slugging is a legitimate pressure tool required against strong survivors at high level play. In a lot of instances the killer DOES intend to come back and hook slugs.

A “bleed out”/“surrender” button would be abused to deny killers hooks that a killer does intend to do shortly after slugging.

If a survivor WANTS to minimise the amount of time they are left on the ground so that the killer DOESN’T lose the slugged survivor, they should either:

    a) stay right where they are, or

    b) if they choose to crawl away for strategical reasons, but it becomes apparent the killer has won and the slug cannot be rescued and cannot find Hatch, they should STOP crawling so that the AFK crows start showing up so they killer can find them.

It’s a double standard for survivors to complain about being left on the ground for long periods of time if the survivor is doing what they can on the ground to make being found by the killer really difficult.

What about if the "Bleed out" button is available only if the survivor had had 3 crows on top of their head for at least 30 seconds or so?

I mean if you have been slugged for that long it's pretty clear that the killer has NO INTENTION of hooking you since the crows are giving him constant notifications on your position as well

  • That's basically what the MMR system will have..it should have a "base" level shared between killers, and a "killer specific" level that depends on how well you can play that specific killer

  • It includes only bloodpoints gained from matches

That includes bonus bloodpoints gained post-match like BBQ, WGLF and offerings so the quickest way to complete the challenge is play a killer match with BBQ, and throw in a survivor pudding for that sweet 100% bloodpoints bonus

That way if you get a perfect match you gain 32k from the match, 32k from BBQ and 32k from the pudding: 96k in a single game if no survivor brings a bloody party streamers

  • @Mr_K said:

What are they doing about hook suicides?

During second phase, instead of button mashing to keep you alive you have to do skill checks, and if you fail one you don't automatically die, but the hook timer will decrease a bit

You can still technically suicide on hook by failing all skill checks intentionally, but it will take longer 😉

    And it's a shame.

The ice capped jeans were ported from mobile and mobile uses the default pants for the set.

Making the buckle look like it was made of ice or adding a couple of icicles to the belt would have been enough to make them different but apparently it was not worth doing it

I understand why the DC penalty is in the game, but it should not exceed more than an hour or a couple of hours. It also shouldn’t carry over into the next day and so on. My penalty is continually adding up day after day. People also still DC regardless even it’s not as often. I don’t wanna get into DCing too much, but I’ll just say that I don’t like DCing, because I obviously get the penalty and have to wait for another game, but I can’t stand the toxicity in this community. That goes for survivors and killers. Also matchmaking needs to be fixed!! It’s gotten worse!! I shouldn’t be a rank 16 killer going against red rank survivors every game and I shouldn’t be a rank 12 survivor going against a rank 1 killer. I loved this game and still have love for it, but I can’t enjoy it for more than a match or 2 on most days, because of terrible matchmaking or toxic players. It’s essentially impossible to fix the toxicity issue, but matchmaking has so much potential for growth even if it’s never perfect. That alone would make the game bearable and fun again. It’s fine if you want to come at me in the comments I can take it, but I don’t wanna argue. This is just how I feel and you don’t have to agree with it by any means. You’re completely entitled to your own opinion. Thank you for reading tho

Just pointing out that unless you DC multiple times in a short period of time your DC penalty shouldn't go over 10 minutes, so if your DC penalty is over an hour is on you

Noone will say that going against much more skilled players than you is fine, but DCing from the match doesn't solve anything, so you should probably stop that

  • Best solution in this case is to stop playing for a while (like a week or so) until you are sure that you solved your internet problem

Fod the future, don't keep playing if you keep getting disconnected, so the timer won't go as high

  • Stop playing for a long period of time

I'm talking like a whole week without playing DBD, you should be able to lower the dc penalty that way

  • Yes please

The Stranger Things dlc is the only one I bought right off the bat because of that exact reason, and I hoped until the last day that the xenomorph was going to be added for the 4th year anniversary

Demo's screams are so satisfying to hear every time, I want more killer like him 😍

So heres the deal I'm currently a high rank player but I'm not having any fun playing right now and was wondering if I could just kill myself to get back into purple or green ranks without any consequences. I really want to try out new builds that just aren't viable at high rank matches so it's not as if I'm going back to troll newer players I'm doing it for my enjoyment and the builds I'm going to use aren't the one I'm skilled with so killer has a chance.

I am also not the best looper in the world so by doing this it won't break anything fairness wise I would just be where I belong instead of being pushed into a rank I can't play with.

As long as you're not sandbagging, staying afk or working with the killer it's not bannable, but it would suck for the other survivor in your match

Why don't you try playing normally at high ranks with the builds you want to try? That way you can both try the new build (even if it's sometimes against sweaty killers) and probably depip in the process, while not completely throwing the matches for the other survivors

One thing that really annoys me about rift tasks is as a Killer you can always, every time 100% guarantee that if you let the Survivors know you want to farm they'll get the message and let you complete your rift task.

Personally, I'm more than happy to see more and more people represented in the game

It would be sad tho to see that the LGBT community is represented in DbD with a character which has nothing special about them, apart from the fact of being part of the LGBT community

Like, we have Claudette who devoted her life to studying plants and sharing her knowledge with as many people as possible on her forum

We have Jake who went against his family will to live life as he wanted, refusing to surrender to social pressure at all costs

We have Yui who basically founded a ######### support group for women's right all by herself by overcoming sexism in street racing

There is no apparent need to keep survivor portraits vertical, they took way too much space compared to the old UI and the health bars for hooked/slugged survivors is too small

From a survivor point of view, the fact that if you don't have an item you have a big hole at the bottom left is annoying, because everything could be shifted lower
