  • I think it's intended

You can wear that mask on any Legion character, so it's not like you can have the crown only if you play as Frank

I assumed Victor would have AI functions before Twins hit the PTB. As I was reading the notes, that's the vibe I got.

I can see this AI being purely an addition, and not an overhaul of how they work. Switching between bodies will still be a thing, and it's possible that they'll give AI functions to both Victor and Charlotte when the other is controlled. Having them do something on their own, even if it's clunky, I think is better than nothing.

I'm actually very excited for this, if the theory holds up. A part of me likes to think that BHVR want's to redeem themselves with The Twins, because they are well aware that they weren't well received.

And it would potentially remove their boring, annoying campy playstyle while promoting different tactics, which is amazing

I'll be curious to see how kicking Victor while not being controlled would work, if that's not going to be a thing anymore they should definitely increase the cooldown of his respawn

  • OR

You could keep adding small pieces to it until you have a whole golden frisbee floating above your head

  • As a survivor, if you escape while "sparkling", you get the crown

As a killer, you just need to interact with it and finish the match

However, even if everyone is able to interact with a crown and sparkle, only original characters are able to actually unlock it for customization.

    Maybe that is your problem?

    https://twitter.com/PaulieEsther1/status/1410305634948599809

PaulieEsther made a list that makes it clear which character can unlock the crown and which can't, hope this help!

  • Same thing for the Flashlight

On one side, great, now I don't have to worry about finding a way to giving a 4th year anniversary flashlight to my P3 jake

On the other side, dang it, I wanted a new item skin 😞

  • That's only because there is currently no DC penalty, otherwise they'd get a minimum 5 minutes penalty

And BTW, this has nothing to do with the struggle change, which objectively made it harder for survivors to give some one else hatch

Seriously, how many people you think died on hook because their finger slipped? If you relied on that to kill people you're playing at low ranks, and low rank survivors are very likely to miss one of the smaller skill checks during the struggle phase, which speeds up the sacrifice progress (BTW, people used to set up macros as well for the struggle phase, which is not possible anymore)

So, if you want to see it as a "Buff/nerf" thing instead of a QoL change like it was, it should be considered a "small buff" to killers

    "Huge buff" 🤦‍♂️

    That should be illegal 😂

    It's like a curse

"Heal other survivors for a total of 10 health states, ok"

    *first match happens*

"6 out of 10, not bad, I should be able to finish it next match"

    *second match*

    "9½ out of 10, FFS, I hate everything"😂

(Yes, I want an in-game counter for this kind of challenges)

I think the why of this is honestly quite simple. The tutorial unequips all your perks and cosmetics. It probably applies this to all your characters. Therefore everyone on that side is “blank slated”. I’d presume if one were to only do the survivor tutorial, their killers would be fine.

I doubt they’d implement this intentionally for the purpose of removing glitched cosmetics. They want to deny that game-wide. Why limit it to such a specific thing the player can just not do? I understand the pessisimism, but that’s just madness.

I’d presume if one were to only do the survivor tutorial, their killers would be fine.

Nope, I only did "Survive with bots" and it reset EVERY character, not only survivors.

    Skins, perks, charms and items/offerings

I died a little trying to remember all the combinations I had

The T-Virus effect applies a splatter shader on survivors, and it works fine with every character model and outfit. Blood could be done the same way - though it probably wouldn't look quite as good as the bloody cosmetics are now, because that's deliberately painted on and has room for more detail.

Mmm yeah you're right, tho I don't know the level of detail they were able to achieve with that effect

Maybe it's an on-the-way feature, it could be a good question for their next Q&A

  • Entity crowns, yes

Blood prestige on ANY cosmetic they already said that it would take too many resources, because they would have to design both the normal and the prestige version of each outfit for every character, every time they release a new outfit

It would be nice to have, but it probably won't happen

  • I mean..1020 ping..that's the definition of lagging..

  • Pretty sure the "Play with bots" part of the tutorial is a test to see how the ai behaves, so that they will be able to replace a player who dcs with one of them in the future

Next step: bots in KYF maybe? That would be cool as well

I thought you knew something but meh. What is so hard about BHVR saying "License holders don't want us to mess with the cosmetics of their characters"?

You do understand that this is a public forum, and phrasing something like that is like saying "Don't blame me! It's THEIR fault! They are the bad guys!" pointing a finger towards license holders, right? The very same license holders which could say "Yeah, we feel like our characters don't belong to DBD anymore, so we won't renew your license again, sorry 🤷🏻‍♂️"

Do you think that would be the best way to keep a good relationship between the two companies?

Can you share the link of Mandy's post? I think they only said they want to keep the image of the license characters. bhvr want that not others.

If you have other post please share it.

That is exactly the answer I was talking about

Keeping the image of a licensed character = License holders don't want us to mess with the cosmetics of their characters

Oh did they make it so you didn't see the spikes till you got close enough? Yo thatd be a cool buff if so. It sucks when a survivor can see the spikes from far away so they just hide.

Not "wrong". I am correct in saying that the hatch spawns once all gens are done. The person I quoted said "Just👏make👏hatch👏spawn👏after👏all👏gens👏are👏finished !"

Yes, but the person who said that meant that hatch should spawn ONLY after all gens are finished, which is not true at the moment

  • @Kaitsja said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2269906#Comment_2269906

It already does spawn after all gens are finished. It only opens without a key when there's one survivor left.

    Wrong, it spawn when:

The number of gens completed is equal or higher than the number of players in the trial (killer included)

    OR

There is only one survivor left

This means that the hatch spawns even if there are 3 survivors alive and 4 gens have been completed, or if 2 survivors are alive and 3 gens have been completed.

This should be looked at, not keys, because when there is a key in play survivors will stop trying to do gens as soon as the hatch spawns

  • My bet:

3 SWF, as soon as they realized that one of them was dumb enough to be downed in the basement by a Trapper at the beginning of the game (very little to no chance to recover from that if the Trapper knows what he's doing) they decided to take the easy way out.

That's why the DC penalty is needed.

  • Please.

Yes, yes, yes, we need something like this

Or at least they could add an option to remove all the animations and popups of the bloodweb. That could help as well

Both of you don't seem to grasp the point of the post.

    "hit next match"

    "hide the chat"

    "refuse to communicate"

These are the common excuses people use to dismiss the underlying problem overall with DBD's end-game chat. It's easier said than done with these practices, especially with players who may struggle with mental health or behavioral issues. All it takes is one wrong thing said in the end-game chat for someone's day to be ruined. So, what's the problem with providing a solution for the selective portion of the community wanting to avoid the infamous salt from end-game chat?

Fun fact, did you know this command option was actually removed from the GameUserSettings.ini file?

    ChatDefaultVisibility=True

Unless you manually add the line back into the .ini file and switch it to "False", your chat will always be opened after every client reset. Given the current state of poor optimization with the Resident Evil patch, I don't want to press hide on my chat several times a day.

The only problem I see with hiding the chat (if what you say is true, which I don't think it is) is that it doesn't stay closed after you closed it once

what's the problem with providing a solution for the selective portion of the community wanting to avoid the infamous salt from end-game chat?

Absolutely no problem there, but the "hide chat" is a perfectly fine solution for that

Again, you are responsible for your own curiosity, so if you willingly CHOOSE to open the end game chat, you shouldn't complain about what you find there

  • Simply hiding a chat doesn't work anymore, because some people's curiosity will lead them into misfortune.

    That's..that's the player's fault tho..

You know the "risks" of opening the chat, you do it anyway, and then you complain about what you see? Isn't it a bit..playing victim?

I mean it's like going to see an 18+ movie, and then complaining about the topics shown in it..

  • Pretty sure it's not bannable, they made REALLY sure you died from the trap 😁

They did, but most of the time they linked cosmetics that wouldn't work if you mix and match them

You think they care THAT much?

I know that they are able to dictate anything about their characters in a different game, and I think that BHVR has nothing to gain from linking cosmetics which could be mixed and matched without problem, so yeah, I say this decision is on Capcom

But apparently a big chunk of the community is unable to think that maybe, MAYBE BHVR isn't always to blame, and that's just sad 🤷🏻‍♂️

To the first point, if you check their history, their aren't any better than sluzzy in their point of view or argumentation at this point together with a few others in here, so i simply try to emphasize on their unrealistic views and their shortcomings.

To Franklin's and the keys, yes I know Franklin's was overall buffed, that's why I don't complain about the perk per se. But I also don't expect behaviour to finish the key nerf in 2021. It took them several years to gather their courage to change one number in the code for Moris and early game mechanics might as well be scrapped after over a year of the mentioning of it. Same with optimization for the last console generation (by now it feels like they hope that the players patience survives the console generation itself without doing anything). And I could go on but i think the point stands.

It's probably more effective to ignore them then, you know, "Don't feed the trolls" and stuff like that

Meh, finishing the key nerf before the end of 2021 could be done, if they realize that keys are mostly fine and to "solve" the problem they could simply review the hatch spawning logic (like, "Hatch spawns only if 5 gens are done or 1 survivor is left")

Console optimization? Yeah I think it's pretty clear at this point that they are not going to spend resources on optimizing a game for an 8 years old console..

  • @burt0r said:

I know that but simply wanted to inverse the argument of another heavy biased forum member.

But to your point, both sides have to buy stuff on the bloodweb. And yes survivor have to by items plus add-ons while killer have to buy add-ons for their individual power. Survivor only HAVE to buy them on one person just like perks and can individualise everything except the cosmetics on one person. If you want true variety as killer you have to equip multiple killer with all perks plus getting stashes of their respective add-ons which aren't any cheaper than survivors.

And for the difference in bp survivor and killer obtain every match (which is also one of the few incentives to play killer at all in my eyes) survivor can find and use items during matches plus add-ons in chests which killer can't. (And yes I know they can vary from brown item without addon up to pink item with two purple add-ons).

First of all, trying to inverse an argument like that is not really constructive or useful, but anyway

That doesn't mean that killers should have a perk to completely destroy survivor's items 😐

If you ignore the fact that keys can open the hatch even when they have 0 charges (which is wrong and should be changed) Franklin's got straight up buffed, and the "toxic" side of it was removed, so it's a win-win for both survivors and killers

  • @burt0r said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2278818#Comment_2278818

Cool when is the implementation of the two-way street of killer finding add-ons in the map during the match? At the same time? I guess that would be never.

    I'll never understand this analogy

Both survivors and killers already lose their add-ons at the end of the trial, unless they used an offering or a specific perk

    Items are NOT add-ons

Killers don't have to buy items in the bloodweb in order to use add-ons, Survivors do

  • If you don't do this then what are your thoughts?

What do survivors think when this happens?

When it happens I'm like "Oh wow, look at you, little scoundrel, you reeeally got me there, wow 🙄"

Like, not giving hatch is ok, but bringing me purposefully there just to close it in my face is..childish?

How does this affect your trust of every other killer when you think they may give you hatch?

Don't fill myself with expectations when it looks like the killer may give me hatch and always assume they are not going to do it, that way when they actually give it to you you are pleasantly surprised, as it should be

  • @GreyBigfoot said:

Losing charges over time could still be considered “consumed by the entity”

I just want to know the numbers on that charge loss, because it has a decent chance of being better on every item now (except keys). Especially medkits

I expect it to drain 100% of the charges over 90 seconds, so items will lose 1.11% of their charges for every second they are on the ground

Regardless of the numbers, if the timer stays the same (90 seconds) it's a straight up buff (except for keys but I hope they'll fix it so that keys need at least 1 charge to open the hatch)

  • @Buckoben said:

So, I've done a bit more research and other games that have had recent crossovers with Resident Evil allow you to mix and match cosmetics more specifically Tom Clancy's the Division

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0682XSeXu3M

(every single cosmetic you see in the video is mixable)

So we know Capcom had nothing to do with the decision, so either BHVR pushed it on Capcom, or they are lying to our faces.

    I predict the later.

But, so much for preserving the characters eh @MandyTalk

    #Unlinkthesets

You do realize that licensers can say one thing to a game and another to a different one, right?

Plus. VERY important detail to notice, it doesn't look like in Tom Clancy's the Division you play AS Leon or Jill or Nemesis, you simply wear the same clothes they have, on an original character

Who knows, maybe Capcom doesn't want LEON to have mixed cosmetics, but they don't care about a random character wearing some odd combination of clothes

Feedback has been brought to the team about this and all the other feedback we've had.

    Oki, thanks for answering 🤞

  • @Mandy said:

From my understanding it's only keys that are really being seen as an issue with Franklins and in fairness a lot of survivors don't walk around carrying their keys anyway, they hide them when they start the match or find them in a chest...I do think this version of Franklins is stronger against things like Medkits & Toolboxes though due to the charges that they lose whilst on the ground.

For example previously I could drop my medkit, then run around again (or get someone to pick it up for me) and still heal myself with it - that's no longer possible, as it loses the charges when you're hit with it.

I do think this version of Franklins is stronger against things like Medkits & Toolboxes though due to the charges that they lose whilst on the ground.

Anyone who doesn't think that didn't understand the change 😁

Can you tell if the team is evaluating ways of "solving" the fact that now it is useless against keys? Like making it so that in order to open the hatch a key must have AT LEAST 1 charge left in it?

That would make it so that bringing a red amber with a dull or skeleton key is an actual risky move, since you could prevent yourself from escaping if you don't use the aura reading correctly

  • @theblimp said:

With franklin's demise no longer destroying items what reason do survivors have to care that they've dropped an item. They now can just leave it until the gates are open pick it up and have lost nothing.

They now can just leave it until the gates are open pick it up and have lost nothing.

If a survivor does that they lose the ability to actually USE the item in the match, unless they already used it, so yeah, Franklin did his job.

If you ignore the fact that keys can open the hatch even if they have 0 charges left (which is bullshit and shouldn't be the case) Franklin's got actually straight up buffed

I seriously doubt that Capcom cared what they put in the Character Info tab.

Then you, my friend, have no idea how petty some license holders can be

THEY own the characters, THEY decide how you describe THEIR characters in the game

Some license holders are more relaxed than others, of course (Stranger Things comes to mind), but if they wanted, they could say "Nope, I don't like THIS, do it like THAT" about virtually ANYTHING

  • @UncleStabby said:

But herin lies my complaint. They did such a good job before. Ghostface was well written too, and he's liscenced. I'm sure a skilled writer could find ways to make Capcom happy, while still doing a good story.

Of all the licensed characters you could pick, you chose the only one who is a very peculiar case.

Ghostface's MASK is licensed, not the Scream character, they could have come up with ANY lore and it would have probably been fine since the mask is just a generic halloween mask.

Anyway, sure, probably a good writer could have been able to make Capcom happy, and I'm sure there are very good writers in BHVR judging from the lore of the last characters, but if Capcom says "Nah fam, keep it as minimal as possible, we don't want you to explain our characters' lore in your game" BHVR can do absolutely nothing about it.

Probably more or less the same thing that Konami did for the Silent Hills skins: they probably said "No no no no, we don't want players to ######### around with skins, you either keep them linked, or you don't release them".

  • Better safe than sorry

Probably Capcom didn't want them to dwell too much in the lore of Jill, Leon and Nemesis

You would be surprised how much power license holders have over their characters, do you really think that the same people who wrote Yun-Jin Lee and Felix's lore are too "lazy" to write more than five sentences about Nemesis or Jill? Are you serious?

To know you and everyone else are just getting mad because people are playing efficiently and you're not as good as you think you are just like everyone else that complain about this mechanic bro.. straight fact this discussion comes up time and time again

No, playing efficiently and relying on a key to escape after you 3-gen yourself are very different things

If you play efficiently as survivor, you should be able to finish 5 gens before using a key

Having the hatch spawn only after 5 gens are completed (or 1 survivor is left) would help with the "Let him die on hook, so the hatch will spawn" mentality that some survivors have as well, or with the fact that unless you are in a SWF, a survivor who brings the key is very likely to ######### you over by getting out by themself as soon as they see the hatch

Trust me, I groan when I see another survivor bring a key, because unless they die before the hatch spawn they are gone, and suddenly the 3v1 is a 2v1, with a gen still to be finished and a very upset killer who goes tryhard at that point

What's the problem with keys? 3 survivors being able to escape from the hatch after they 3-genned themselves because they were mindlessly genrushing

Remove that and keys are fine

Is it much harder or more expencive? Or both?

Apart from the fact that yes, animating a scene like you said would take more time and effort, I think it's more of an artistic choice that they went with

Were you the killer bodyblocked by a survivor(s)? Press M1 to hit a survivor that is bodyblocking you, not only you will injure them, but they will lose collision with you and you'll be able to pass right through them

The reason we started getting those filler challenges is because tomes for a while were focusing on four characters, which was more than enough variety to occupy all four levels. Unleashed only had 3 characters and Divergence and Forsaken only have two, so they need to pad it out with more options.

Then again, Tome 1 pulled the two-character focus off just fine...

    Exactly

I can understand why they started focusing again on only 2 characters per tome, what I don't understand is why are they adding challenges to unrelated characters as well

why wouldn't there be? who said only 1 killer is allowed in each tome?

No one said that the Tome should be limited to 1 killer and 1 survivor, and neither do I

What I'm saying is that they should avoid doing it if they are not going to release Lore for that killer (or survivor) in the same Tome, since it has always been the case up until Tome V

It's a "consistency" thing, if you want to see it that way
