I don't know about you but I have to wait 15 minutes to find a lobby as a killer and 1 minute as a survivor

Low rank, then, 'cause in purple/red ranks that ######### flips right around.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Well the same could be said for killers why complain about lobby time then proceed to bring iridescent head huntress with ebony mori then ending the game in 3 minutes

Can't compare that to the topic, since the huntress has insta-queues.

  • There'd be no stand off. Killer would just close the hatch. Removing the grab just means survivors can escape right in front of the killer now. Removing it just seemed dumb and unnecessary.

Trying to play without ruin, I realized that my games are not affected, ruin is unnecessary to have a good game, the trick is knowing how to keep up the pressure if you can't "win" without ruin I'm afraid you have to practice as a killer

pd:I apologize for English is not my native language

What's your rank, killer, build, and method of keeping up pressure?

  • The explosions should clue you in on if it's being worked on in real time or not.

But here's the thing. Survivors as a whole have been stripped of nearly everything they have. As a survivor, you will escape very few times nowadays even if you do play with friends. Solo survivor is a whole new story. Love when maps generate so few pallets to the point where the blendette gets chased and when shes dead theres 4 gens left and nothing left on the map. I don't really think there's much more to complain about on the killer end of this game. Most the problematic things in this game don't happen every game and I'd say really the only issue is some windows on certain maps. Otherwise, killer is braindead and personally at this point it's never gonna change.

Survivors as a whole have been stripped of nearly everything they have? Do you mean Infinites and pallet vacuum? I'm not seeing what you're seeing. When I play survivor (and I play solo survivor), escaping isn't as hard as you make it sound. It's only hard when the rest of the team is being potatoy and even then, I can manage a hatch escape or pip at the least.

I don’t know if it’s really silence complaints, just more the tiresome nature of most criticism. There are certainly problems, on both sides and just QoL changes to be made, but a lot of the criticism on the forums is really just complaining. The ruin change examplifies that, same as balanced landing last patch. People just don’t like losing really strong perks in most cases, even if it benefits the game long term.

I feel like it's silencing, mostly from how mean spirited some are in their dissent. They just make it seem like any complaints from the killer's perspective should be ignored. I'm on the fence about the ruin changes, personally, but I know valid concerns were raised by killer mains.

I really do love this game and hope it can get better. And I think apart of that is trying to find common ground rather than drawing lines in the sand. We're all playing the same game together and just want to go back to having fun.

  • Not until they fix the server's from dropping people randomly. I had to face DC penalties when I wasn't even DCing, but was getting kicked by dedicated servers. It was horrible.

  • @aazimuth said:

It's about time somebody says it lol. People don't 4k one or two games out of like 20 and then freak out saying gen times are a problem, survivors are "overpowered" and SWF needs to be removed. Unlucky that some people just can't take a loss at times. But hey, at least this next ruin change is a step in the right direction.

Although, I really want to see a PTB of an older update from 2016 or 2017 and then let killers see how hard they had it back then compared to now (which now its actually braindead). Guess people forget ruin hasn't existed since the beginning and people still 4k'd back then when survivors were at their strongest. :)

I mean, I played since launch. Games back then were different, as everyone was still figuring out how things worked. The game came a long way since then, sure, but that doesn't discredit the concerns killers have today (even if some people really, really want to silence killer's complaints).

Again: The clip contains multiple red rank matches in a row and my channel is flooded with matches just like these. Kept posting 1-2 minute 4ks over the course of 2019. Only VERY FEW matches are actually difficult and due to the new rank reset it's even easier to dominate at red ranks.

So, because you chain-instadown people with infectious fright, red ranks are too easy for killers and ruin is better off nerfed? I can't really buy that this goes for all red rank killers' experience.

  • @Yamaoka said:

Just a friendly reminder that most red rank matches are by far too easy as killer and the Ruin change is for the better.

    https://youtu.be/ftafeotogxg

So, that one match is supposed to speak for all red rank matches?

  • @johnmwarner said:

Seriously, I know it's the cool thing to say but people literally copy paste that nonsense.

End game chat against a trapper he said "gen rushing is sooo fun," and yes he had been using Ruin. I asked politely, "instead of doing gens what should we have done?" and there was never a reply.

Keep in mind we basically unhooked each other instantly, healed each other and then worked on gens. All solo survivors too BTW.

So for anyone that says Gen Rushing is a real thing, I ask you the same question. What else should we have done? Also for the record, I think gen speed is too fast, but we can;t fix that so again what should we have done?

Geeze. The way you word this makes you sound like a jerk. When killers say "gen rushing" they're talking about how quickly gens get finished.

  • That ######### Jake with the legacy pants.

  • @Almo said:

You know what really makes them happy? Play a Killer with an insta-down and run NOED. They love that.

I remember running NOED on the Hillbilly years ago and this streamer I got with it FLIPPED HIS #########. Like, he just went off on me, full blast. Total meltdown.

Playing an insta-down killer with NOED breaks survivors.

  • I bounce between purple and red ranks these days. Once I got the rank 1 acheivement, I never saw reason to play the best killers with the best builds, since being high rank isn't fun anymore, but it's where I keep ending up.

Losing ruin is a hard hit, since it's not realistic to think I can pressure 4 survivors enough to not do enough gens to leave. There's a lot to combat. Killer choice (I want to play the killers I enjoy playing, not the ones who required for rank 1), pallet RNG, map size, survivor items, survivor coordination, exploits.

Sometimes, I hate that I love this game enough to keep playing, just because of how difficult it is to have fun anymore. I know people get on a killer's back about being whiney and complaining, but I also realize those same people don't care if I have fun or not.

  • I do hope they make it so 360ing isn't possible. Like moonwalking, it's just not something that should be in the game. It's basically exploiting the first person view of the killer.

  • Borrowed time + WGLF, hell yeah.

But the game detects a 2k as Entity Displeased, aka a loss.

The OP doesn't want to hear that. They just want to hear "Killer bad".

  • @senki527 said:

Loool this guy is clearly a killer main trying to disguise as survivor main. Very weak try

Or they could just be someone whose being nice. Hard to imagine, but some such people exist.

  • Big maps need a nerf. Super unfun to play on as a killer.

  • @Luigifan64 said:

Aren’t you glad they’re adding DC penalties, even though dumb ######### like this happens. :D

Yeah, the DC penalties were kicking my ass when they were enabled. Highest it went up to was six hour ban, punishing me for something out of my control. Makes me miss the old hosting.

  • Because Dedicated Servers tend to disconnect me at random, I suffer from DC penalties. When it was active, I got up to six hours of penalty, all from something completely out of my control.

  • You're using Dead Hard to bait a hit?

  • Server kicked me off again and now I have a six hour penalty. This is ridiculous.

  • @SoulSever said:

Things like that are part of the reason why the DC punishments are not functional, the game has far too many problems with game-breaking bugs, deplorable dedicated servers, poor optimisation causing crashes, unbalanced and utterly unfun mechanics such as a survivor team with 4 toolboxes or an Irisdescent Head Huntress, to ever justify implementing them for the times where people actually ragequit, and those people will just kill themselves on hook or eat the penalty.

I would much rather improve/fix things that cause involuntary DCs and ragequitting before considering DCs penalties while all those issues are still in the game, but then again, Behaviour has a trackrecord of being slow as a snail with their fixes and when they do finally arrive, they are but a bandaid fix that does not even attack the main problem.

Yeah. In fact, I was forced to do a legitimate DC earlier today due to a bug. While being healed, I became stuck in the "being healed by someone" position. Couldn't move or do anything. Killer couldn't pick me up, I couldn't bleed out, EGC didn't kill me. It kept the game going with me stuck. I went to exit match and I was still in the game, but also in end game chat. Killer was trapped and I had to End Task. All that, not my fault, and it just made my penalties worse from DC's that were forced on me.

    Sucks.

  • Punished for using a function in the game.. Why do you word it like that? You think people shouldn't be punished for abandoning the match prematurely? Why did they even hit 'Ready', then?

    Winter gifting

    Holiday gifts for all!

    CHANGES TO EVENT COSMETICS UNLOCK

In the latest Dev Update, we announced our plan to unlock a large list of exclusive cosmetics to all players on PC and console. According to the feedback we received, we decided to review the unlocking process for the following cosmetics:

    • Hound (The Huntress – Event Mask)
    • Untamed Donkey Jacket (David King – Event Body)
    • Pro-Pain Hammer (The Hillbilly – Event Weapon)
    • Free Song Bird Slip Dress (Kate Denson – Event Body)

As it was mentioned by many players, these cosmetics were earned during events and were representative of the player's dedication to the game. The way these cosmetics were stored created an issue where a loss of progress was possible, we've since switched to a more secure method of storage for event cosmetics.

At the time of the announcement, last month, we had no way to isolate players who had earned these cosmetics. Since then, we have found a way to isolate the players that have played the event and will be able to restore these four cosmetics on a large scale, only to players that earned them during the events. Keep an eye on the news, this will happen Soon™

    NEW FEATURE

    DISCONNECTION PENALTY FEATURE - TESTING

As of Thursday, December 5th, we will be testing a new feature on our Dedicated Server enabled platforms (Steam, Windows Store and Switch™). This feature is designed to penalize players that are disconnecting from matches.

Users who disconnect from matches will be prevented from joining a new match for a predetermined length of time, which increases after each instance of disconnection. Our objective with this feature is to discourage players from quitting games and will serve a double purpose of excluding users who are already in a negative mental state from re-entering matchmaking until they’ve had a chance to cool down.

The system will also apply if one or more players in a group has an active disconnect penalty, preventing the entire group from joining the matchmaking queue until the penalized members have either cleared their penalty or leave the group.

The incremental penalties will decay naturally over time, starting after the most recent matchmaking ban has completed.

Gotta scroll down to find it. The TL;DR is that they found a way to know who unlocked what and we gotta wait til then.

We have no problem with the perk being a challenge, but it doesn't reward you besides having bragging rights that you escaped.

Mettle of Man is a challenge perk, but it rewards you for getting it to activate. 😁

It's not supposed to reward you, though. It just makes things harder.

  • It really doesn't need a change. The devs themselves said it was supposed to be a perk to use as a challenge, but no one has to use it if they don't want to.

  • @indieeden7 said:

Wasn't really a "massive skill ceiling" when people "mastered" a technique survivors couldn't really do anything against in less than a week. The flick meant that if the Oni was in close proximity to you while BF was active, there was NOTHING you could do against it, you could try to 360 but what does that matter when the killer can charge up his insta down ability in less than a second and instantly 180 onto you? Literally the only thing you could do was hope that there was a jungle gym with short walls on the corners in order to hide behind them while he flicked, if there wasn't one, you went down.

Survivor's can 360, a killer can 180. NERF THE KILLER!

    Oh look this comment again.

Usually when comments like this happen they make broad generalizations about the player posting instead of looking at what they're trying to say or starting a counter argument.

You don't know "what it really means" until you stop stereotyping and insulting people.

    Just saying.

I'm with The_Second_Coming on this. You sound like you've never been to red rank killer.

  • @w_sohl said:

I play both sides.  Everyone that complains that the game is survivor sided, how do you figure when every killer has better than a 50% kill rate?

    Rank?

  • The game just needs to be balanced. SWF complaints are a symptom of a bigger problem.

  • @Might_Oakk said:

With the exception of blunders like mettle of man and ez anytime flashlight/pallet saves it seems like red rank survivor ques are at an all time high.

Seems weird since the improvements for killers over the last 2 years have been massive. I couldn't imagine playing killer now with things like

Pallet vacuum, Double pallet spawns, Instant full gen BnPs, Insta blind 180' flashlights, 4 man insta escape DS, BT that effected unhooker as well, Little things like slow picking up survivors, slow pallet break, slow hooking etc etc etc

I think all these changes have made more players play swf turning more killers off of survivor which I'd assume was the opposite intended effect

Anyways just figured I'd share my thoughts while waiting in que

You're listing off all the bad things in the past that were changed, but omitting all the bad things that are still currently in the game. It makes you come off as disingenuous to the topic.

  • The game will always be survivor sided, unfortunately. Make 4 people happy vs make 1 person happy. It's business :\

  • I didn't even know Dead by Daylight existed until my friend gifted it to me at launch. I physically have trouble using Keyboard and Mouse for playing most games, but it had controller support for someone like me. It was super scary and I loved it as survivor. When I got into killer, it was also a blast, until I got higher in ranks and went up against the old exploits (infinites, etc).

I still love DbD and hope it eventually reaches a point where it's better balanced. The fun is often countered by the frustrating aspects that still plague it, but I play it still because deep down there's a really good game in here that we all enjoy and keep coming back to.

  • If the EGC started as gens were finished that would be really cool. It'd apply so much pressure for survivors to escape ASAP and killers to make a last ditch effort. Bloodwarden would probably have to be nerfed a bit to compensate, though.

  • @DBDfan12 said:

im so tired of the term gen rushing. its so dumb, thats what youre suppose to be doing. the role of survor is to fix gens. no you didn't gen rush if you finished them quickly. the killers job is to stop you . there is NO SUCH THING AS GEN RUSHING

And we're tired of people trying to refute it. Gen's simply get done too quickly. You may not like the term, but it came about due to poor balancing on the dev's part.

  • @Widowmaker8197 said:

Survivor mains, stop begging for killer nerfs.

Killer mains, stop begging for survivor nerfs.

It's most likely not going to end up happening since BHVR doesn't listen to their community who actually plays the game and knows what it could use to keep thriving.

If it were up to the devs, survivors can flash light blind a killer picking up a downed survivor at any point during the animation to get the save. They devs thought this was a good idea. They obviously need to be told how to play their own game

  • Hell, exhaustion perks are bad for the game.

  • He loud 'cause he got somethin' ta say

I’ve had some poor games there as killer so my first impression was it’s survivor sided. Might be that we just need to get used to it.

Super dark. Lots of tall grass. Lots of things to bump into and make it harder to navigate as killer. 110% survivor sided map. I don't know why the devs hate killers so much.

  • @Rivyn said:

Yes, this is a rant, because I'm a bit steamed at the moment. I mean, seriously. You have a bug that literally makes the game unplayable, yet the devs keep the game going?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/662/G3U49P9RFPPG.png

For those that don't know, or haven't seen it. When hooked in the basement, you get this screen. No, this isn't a bug report, there are enough of those already. This is just to call out a situation that ruins a match, just because of some bad code.

    And then...

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/569/IVO7NNIW1IRM.png

...you have people that play just for the exploit. It's really soured my mood. Going to lay off the game for a few days, at least until it's fixed (hopefully this isn't another case like the sprint burst exploit where we have to wait for the mid chapter to get a fix). And it's a shame, because I was interested in seeing Oni in action. He looked like fun to go against, though personally, I don't find Oni himself all that interesting to play as.

Just don't get downed near the basement.

  • Being scared of the killer. Those were the days. Now the game is just a game and the thrill is gone.
