I need to read Tapp's bio again ^^', but the point still stands, no matter what canonically killed him in SAW, was healed in the Entity's realm. It takes people before death can actually happen. Like Bill, Adam, Jane. On that note, I'll edit my post a bit after this message is sent.

When I say 'Ignoring time', I mean time as humans have conceptualized it. Time for us is different for other beings. What is straightforward to us, is not even glanced at by something that has no concept of or even felt by it.

And you hit the nail on the coffin with that last bit, even the devs said there is more then what you see, and that goes into that 'ignoring time' thing. In the linear way we see it, the killers get added as is. But for the survivors, they could've always been facing after the Demogorgon even before we could play it. That's the main idea that I had. But I always word things weird when it's long posts like these.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/662443#Comment_662443

The structure is still human, unless they changed that and I wasn't made aware. Look at the Hag, her animation is all gangly and horrifying to see chasing after you, but her skeletal rig is still classified as human. But yes, the Demogorgon's animations are amazing.

    Also

@Sotarnicus, the best display of power the Entity has ever shown was taking Kate Denson straight out of our world physically. Up until then, most survivors only appeared because they were in a location of great atrocity, otherwise known as where the killers you see have committed their crimes.

That last part about Kate Denson being spirited away as she was is a perfect example of the Entity growing stronger. It does not need to rely on atrocities that happen in our world to influence it.

  • Carl the cashier went through the worst. So much so that we never got him as survivor.

  • Playing him also seems to cause fps drops. At least for me. Perhaps that's why there are fewer people playing it?

In trying to play this game for about 5-6 hours yesterday, I had the new map only three times and the Gorgonzola twice, one of which I was disconnected from before I could even start to play. 80% of the games have been Ghostface. This has been the worst update ever for me so far.

Kinda off topic but macaroni and cheese made with gouda is incredible. Your calling Demogorgon "Gorgonzola" reminded me of it.

  • I prefer whispers on Ghostface. Whispers, in general, is more reliable as it's passive and is difficult to counter. It just works.

Personally I've seen really toxic people act identically regardless of wether they were playing survivor or killer. If they weren't acting toxic playing one specific role it was usually the result of a lack of skills not allowing them to be toxic.

It's difficult to be toxic when you can't catch anyone OR get downed in a few seconds.

Toxicity is mostly the product of a person's personality rather than what role they main or play exclusively - at least that's what I experienced.

Also, not trying to give excuses, sometimes people are having a bad day for whatever reason and a high stress game like this tips them over the edge. Happens to the best of us.

    Patch notes:

    The Nightmare

    • The Nightmare now applies the Oblivious status effect to Survivors when he brings them into the Dream World and they remain Oblivious for the entire duration that they spend in the Dream World. This is indicated to Survivors by the status effect icon on the right side of the screen. This change makes it so that The Nightmare has a constant 32 meter terror radius, however, Survivors do not hear it when they are in the Dream World. Survivors still hear The Nightmare's lullaby when they are in the Dream World, however, they are no longer affected by terror radius based conditions for perks (such as Coulrophobia or Overwhelming Presence). As a Survivor, if you do not hear The Killer's terror radius, you are not considered to be within The Killer's terror radius.

I thought the notes were a little confusing. What is the interaction between terror radius and lullaby? These are 2 different things right? So if a survivor is awake and within 32 meters, the survivor hears both the lullaby and terror radius heartbeat, but if the survivor is asleep then the survivor only hears the lullaby? Am I understanding that correctly? So the only real difference is perks that effect terror radius right? Sleeping survivors will still know to get off a generator if they are asleep because they hear the lullaby when Freddy is within 32 meters.

Actually, while awake you only hear his terror radius (heartbeat). While asleep, you will only hear the lullaby.

Along with The Crapper being added and with his own theme song. Seriously though, Trapper should start with more traps. Preferably, all of them.

As I stated before, Legion is meant to use his power to spread his damage and stall survivors, not down them, and his power, when chained, lasts longer, so I disagree with the sentiment that it can't be used for travel, as any time you hit a survivor with it, you ARE using it to travel. As for losing sight of scratch marks, last I checked, 4 seconds is not long enough for scratch marks disappear, last I checked, they last for 10 seconds(around 7 with lightweight). Oh and Legion when using his power every chance he gets is not slower than old Legion, as I stated(with math). This means overall Legion is faster.

I love Legion though I've been salty about how they were handled so I don't play them as much. If something was changed since their nerf I might not have caught it. From what I remember, the marks and blood disappear completely during frenzy. When it ends they don't show up again until the survivor starts running and makes new scratches. Or was this changed?

After rereading our comments I understand the miscommunication. I was talking about getting to survivors and it's effectiveness in helping with downs rather just moving around the map.

I was answering this: "how are Spirit and Nurse's powers lethal when they're literally for movement/tracking and have no lethality to them whatsoever?"

I explained this then compared it to Legion's. As for where lethality came into the conversation: Legion gets stunned AND has a cooldown despite their power being non-lethal (directly or indirectly) which seems overkill compared to other killers whos power can be lethal (lethality explained in above comments). He can get around and stall (depends on build) but can't do much else. Running around and stalling can be great but a large part of the objective is to actually get downs and hooks which his power can actually hinder.

In regard to Legion's stalling potential, who likes mending simulator? It might be effective but it sucks for the survivors. I say that even though I use thana and sloppy with the cooldown and blade addons.

  • @Atrushan88

In regards to map traversal, Legion only moves 10% faster during frenzy (two play with your food tokens). Yes it lasts longer but not so much so that it grants much of an advantage, if any, to getting around quicker. Like what has been stated in this thread already. Oftentimes, it's better to walk rather than use frenzy to travel.

Frenzy is not fast enough or long enough (without add ons) to effectively be used for travel. Plus, you're stunned for 4 seconds as well as needing to wait out the cool down before using it again. On top of all that, scratches and blood are erased while using frenzy which further diminishes the value of whatever distance you were able to travel. This allows survivors to hide/escape much easier from a Legion who uses frenzy for traveling.

  • Why does that have to be explained @Atrushan88? Nurse, Spirit, Billy and so on can use their power to down a survivor. Whether directly with the power (Billy) or indirectly (Nurse and Spirit). By indirectly I mean the power itself does not down survivors but it gives an advantage that can lead to a down.

Legion is not able to directly or indirectly use their power to down someone (beyond tracking which every killer has in sone form). Killer instinct (Legion's tracking via Ferel Frenzy) reveals the locations of those within their terror radius, which is nice. Though, during frenzy, most basic tracking tools are wiped(scratches, blood, blurry vision etc) to compensate for killer instinct. This can make it difficult to track a survivor if you cancel your power near them for the down (then eating the damn stun) as you have no scratches or blood to track with once frenzy ends.

If you are able to reach one of them via frenzy you have to make a choice. Cancel frenzy then eat an awful 4 second stun, hit them giving them borrowed time if they didn't already, or eat the stun if you hit someone who has borrowed time. None of these outcomes result in a down.

Using different wording: At best, you can cancel the power near an injured survivor rather than hitting them which gives them a speed burst (they still get a 4 second head start and scratches plus blood were wiped during frenzy) for the down. Hit someone, injuring them, giving them borrowed time, as well as a speed boost. Or, at worst, hit someone who has borrowed time which stuns you for 4 seconds and gives the survivor a speed boost.

In short, Legion can injure but is never able to down someone with his power (franks is negligible with how terrible it is).

  • @Atrushan88 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/687857#Comment_687857

Spirit is exactly why they didn't keep his speed the same. She's a 110% killer. Hillbilly can only move in a straight line with his chainsaw, and Nurse has a fatigue every time she blinks, which is in reality many more fatigues than Legion will ever know. Legion has much more control of movement than any of the characters you mentioned, and with 115% speed plus fatigue speed being as fast as previously, he'd just traverse the map entirely too fast, and he can still cancel his power once catching up to someone. If they did want to give him this option, perhaps they could make it where he couldn't cancel his power, including misses once using it, forcing him to either wait it out, or keep hitting them/find other survivors. This would force him to use his higher mobility to find other survivors instead of hitting them with DW, and then cancelling/continuing to chase one survivor.

As for his counterplay, would you rather he had no counterplay? Every character has some form of counterplay. Splitting up is pretty much Legion's only counterplay to his actual power, which is essentially a mini Plague vomit(he can injure every survivor on the map if they don't split up in a very quick time frame. To be fair, Plague's vomit is better, as they are forced to stay injured unless they cleanse, but the fact remains that if survivors didn't split up to counter Legion's power, then they would simply just keep getting picked off). I don't think that Legion is SUPPOSED to chain hit all four every time he uses his power, which is a misconception I think that other people believe he should. I think 2 survivors is good, 4 survivors is supposed to be a lucky/rare case.

All the killers being compared to Legion (Nurse, Spirit, Billy) have LETHAL powers along with the fatigue/recharge/drawbacks.

Personally as someone who mains Myers, and also plays Ghostface quite a bit. (Basically all the licensed killers) I feel they are pretty even, but Mikey edges him out slightly.

Ghostface has a bit more counter play to him than Michael does when it comes to their powers. Ghosty boy can get knocked out of his stalking before he gets the chance to expose. And he can't really attempt to go in for a hit and if it fails go for the stalking route. He has to choose how he is going to approach a survivor. In exchange he can stalk a single survivor faster. But he isn't getting the global exposure, nor the increased vault and lunge.

The global exposure and less counter play to his power makes Myers better if only just slightly. I mean there are times when you can take out 3 people if they a attempting to swarm a hook. Also getting to tier 3 does take longer, but he basically is always stalking at dropped pallets and what not, so it isn't that bad, it's just slightly different than Ghostface who attempts his stalking before the chase even starts.

I do think the biggest advantage of playing ghostface over Michael is that he doesn't really need a perk slot for Monitor and Abuse. Anyways that's just my thought on them.

I mean...there is also Myer's higher tier add-ons...they are better than Ghostfaces lol

About his addons: seriously, what's up with them being so boring? His character and power are interesting but the devs didn't seem to want to invest time in developing neat add ons.

No. I am also spirit main. I play both sides and have 2300 hours in the game. She is the best killer as in: most fair, most rewarding for having big brain, most mindgame killer and its perfect for the game.

I made a post a while back on why shes great and why more killers should be like her. She is the only killer that survivors kind of fear. This is a horror game.

There are many vids out there that show spirit getting outplayed. It is possible but hard. Killers should be the strong ones, not survivors. They are the 1/5. They have to balance everything on their backs. They have the stress. Spirit is the only killer I can play and lose and say "that was my fault." which is something the other killers cant say because the objectives are SO quick when survivors actually try but they like to chase and have fun which is why the gen rush does happen always.

I don't care. I said my piece and wasn't looking for a conversation so stop quoting me.

I play survivor and dont like to be scared. I want no mindgames and no interesting gameplay. The game should be in my favor even though they are literally murderers. This assymetrical horror game is not fun because it is scary but because the devs love me the most. I am the 4/5ths and the game is balanced around me, the side that lacks any stress despite being chased by someone who wants to slaughter me. Instead the killer is stressed but that is fair because I am one sided and dont understand balance. A mindgame that I am not able to win constantly is only something I will complain about.

    ADAPT SURVIVOR MAIN

You serious? I'm a Spirit main... She needs tweaks.

  • Addons: for sustainability choose the brown and yellow recharge addons, otherwise the red stalk addon with the green recharge one.

Perks: surveillance, pop goes the weasel, brutal strength, whispers, nurses calling, bbq&c, ensuring, spirit fury, sloppy butcher, play with your food, save the best for last, discordance, spies from the shadows, shadowborn, bamboozle, blood warden, no one escapes death, make your choice, knock out, deer stalker.

Ghostface does well with a lot of the perks so it all depends on your playstyle. My favorite build is surveillance, pop, brutal strength, whispers.

Getting survivors stalked to near 99% is important but so is downing them so don't forget to hit normally. Keep track of who is who so you know who you are stalking. Like Michael, pop the 100% stalk when you are near them to ensure you will get that down (be aware of nearby pallets and loops).

Keep in mind throughout the game that survivors have a 3rd person camera and maneuver yourself around line of sight blockers accordingly. There are plenty of holes in walls to stalk through (shack is a great example). You can stalk people while looping by crouching near debris when you begin to be revealed but don't waste too much time. He has incredible mindgame potential when using his power during a chase as he has no red stain to worry about.
