  • What intent I had was made clear so as to not cause confusion but I'll reiterate:

It was an attempt at explaining why there are so few lower tier killers in high ranks which survivors, oftentimes, complain about. Spirit and Nurse taking the brunt of those complaints.

As I stated in my original post: "This post is not about "toxic" behaviour in general or how to handle it. It's about how players are treated when using lower tier killers. How people complain about going against Spirit or Nurse when, for a lot of players, it isn't fun playing most the other characters because of how unviable they are".

The problem with "Don't let it get to you" is that a LARGE group of Survivors (esp SWF types) are often like this. I have had days & weeks where every other game where I'm not playing my "mains" IE the ones I perform the best with, had several or all Survivors get pretty trollish/bullying, usually when I play Clown at higher ranks, which I hate because Clown is a favorite of mine, but sadly against good Survivor groups, I tend to fall behind.....and they get pretty toxic soon after I make any mistake. Heck sometimes I don't even need to be making mistakes, Pallet slam +teabag is the biggest culprit.

Kinda hard to ignore that type of behavior when it happens a lot.

It's not even just about the bming getting to you. It's that they can away with it and know they can against lower tier tier killers. Those killers, oftentimes, do not pose much threat against decent survivors. This is why I'm in favor of buffing solo survivor if it means lower tier killers get buffed.

Those sorts of survivors have really dug a hole for themselves with how their behavior influences the game. Players will, predominantly, keep using Spirit, Nurse, and Billy as long they remain at the top and can handle swf. If they ever get nerfed even pc survivors will have a hard time finding games.

I agree, I really love trapper, but on high ranks I almost cant play him because when i place trapps at the start, already 2-3 gens pop, even with ruin. And if i go straight for the hunt without trapping, i am a m1 killer without power xD Obviously you have sometimes the coin flip situation but that doesnt happen often.

That and your traps will be disarmed as soon as you leave them

This right here ######### me up so badly I hate it. reminds me of when I was still new and played on default sensitivity. I really wish this was fixed asap. Bad enough billy has phantom saws but I do not EVER want to have a phantom swing. My hits get caught by the air of all things. I'll be right on the survivor's back but nooooo I just gotta get screwed over because I play on ps4. sorry I just had to deal with that a lot this night to the point of running unrelenting.

Edit: profanity filter did not censor an obvious curse word so I replaced with "back"

Don't be sorry. It's an understable complaint when you should have hit the survivor but didn't. It can and has cost players the game.

  • @iBetClaudette said:

It's a crapfest right now on the PS4. Difficulty healing others, sometimes can't cleanse totems, can't activate gate after gens completed, sometimes can't unhook other survivors. PS4.

Also, controller sensitivity is messed up too. Making the already stupid version of a 360 on ps4 more stupid. That being, swivel a short circle in front on the killer rather than around which takes advantage of the bad aim assist and low sensitivity. You'll go to swing and it will try to follow the survivor but miss completely and fall short. They're right in front of you.... and you still miss.

I legitimately did not know that was going to be a thing.. when will it happen?

I might stop playing dbd... when I started playing I actually liked that this was one of the few games that doesn't have one.

If I recall correctly, the battlepass will be cosmetics only and have a free version as well as a paid version.

  • For me, I used to get frustrated at the idea of running around in a circle. Made me feel dumb and ask myself what I was doing. So, I avoid killers where it's a serious issue for them like Legion, Doctor, Wraith and so on.

Imagine running Black Box against an OoO user, the obsession would get to know all your moves all the time and God help you if he is in a SWF team on top of that.

This happened to me ='(. It was not fun.

Every match I've played ( for the last 5 hours ) I've had a killer that exposes and has the most toxic builds. Like I get it you want more points. I'm a killer main ( I suck at being a survivor ) but I was like I'ma try to be one for today heck I'm only rank 19 it can't be that bad......I was so wrong. We all want alot of points killers can get alot more then survivors and not be super toxic. I feel like it's ridiculous cuz any other time I'm like hey I'ma be a survivor I never get super toxic killers. Why do they have to come around now? 😭

I don't play toxic. I've used almost all my streamers and let survivors farm a bit off me for points.

  • @Kilmeran said:

It's not so much that the game is that grossly imbalanced. It really isn't. The core issue is the absolutely abysmal map designs. It's the maps that require the holy trinity of Billy, Spirit, and Nurse against optimal survivors, because they have the mobility for so many of the large maps. The normal-speed killers simply can't do enough.

Like Blood Lodge? I hate that map so much.

  • @ProfoundEnding said:

I'm in red ranks and haven't played against a Spirit yet. Then again in on console so idk.

What killer are you playing against most?

  • I've been using my streamers to give survivors more points though a lot of them have died from the egc timer bug.

  • Legion, Doctor, Clown, Ghostface, Wraith, Nurse, Trapper, and so on. Only top tier killers here (on ps4)

There’s really no question. Spirit is infinitely better than Billy. She is basically the Nurse with collision and a cooldown. Her power is insanely strong in a chase and as long as she can hear she won’t lose you. Spirit has decent map pressure as well. She is just insanely strong in a chase. Chases can last less than 20 seconds if she’s good

You can’t really argue that Billy is better. I’d even argue Hag is better than Billy.

Billy can be looped Spirit cannot.

The only reason I'd argue is because Billy doesn't have a cooldown and can instadown. Spirit can but only with perks.

  • @Chubster said:

my only problem is the fact that you can cancel out the lunge attack pretty quickly, wish the time between holding m2 and going back to m1 was a bit longer, other than that the killer is good.

However the way some people play him are a whole different can of worms

Have you seen basement Demo? It's disgusting and I refuse to use it.

  • @Mochan said:

We can nerf Instaheals when instadowns and instakills are nerfed.

Some instadowns are fine like killer powers and make your choice. Things like iri head need to go though. Mori needs nerfed too. If I had to choose between keys or instaheals I would choose keys being nerfed.

That too, crutching on a perk too much really does have negative effects on you in the end result.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/715452#Comment_715452

Well she is Top-Tier after all... Or she can be, its debatable if she is Top-Tier or not, but I think she is with Billy and Nurse.

I would definitely call Spirit top tier. What I would have a hard time arguing is whether Billy is better or Spirit.

Yes this has happened to me on PS4 a few times. The last two it looked like the killer DC after everyone got out.

Glad to hear of others experiencing it. Hopefully it gets fixed soon as it's unfair on the survivors who aren't getting their points.

I’m not so sure it’s intentional anymore. It’s happening so often to me that I’m wondering if it’s a bug related to returning survivors back to the new lobby/party screen.

Something else that is happening on Ps4 is that the game will actually end and it will show the killer dced even if they didn't. Survivors don't always get their points either.

I keep getting messages asking why I dced when I didn't.

@TAG No. My friend has to deal with the same issue the lowbie killer had to deal with.

Killers had a choice before as well, doesn't mean the system didn't need changing.

How does the killer have a choice in going against survivors that are higher rank? They don't, especially if it's a swf. I've had this conversation with multiple people already. Multiple people have tried to tell you. If you had played killer then you would know killers have no idea what rank the survivors are until post game. Killers also cannot always know if a team is swf. Survivors joining at the same time does not always mean they are swf. Survivors can make their info private so the friends list can't be read, which is common practice.

Another arguement you brought forth is deranking which is not at all relevant. That is done by both killer and survivor players and is frowned upon but not yet punished for if they aren't dcing. It being done by both sides does not make it equal. It's a problem for everyone.

Your friend can CHOOSE to play with you. That's not a punishment. Or, they can play solo. Or, they can find teammates closer to them in level. Killers have not and cannot choose that for any of the survivors. Killers cannot choose what ranks they will go against. They can only hope that they will be close in rank (or hope they aren't). This was even more true before the change as swf match making could be and was abused.

If you still complain about this then you're probably one of those who enjoyed bullying low rank killers. No other reason to be upset.

Survivors aren't weak. Far from it; if the survivors know what they're doing, any player not on a top tier killer had may as well just go AFK in the basement for all the chance they have of winning.

    They are hella boring tho.

You know what's less entertaining than having all the gens pop in the first 3 minutes after 1 chase?

Sitting on a gen holding m1 for 3 minutes and never engaging the killer.

I do that sometimes when I get creamed as Wraith.

As for the OP, I'm all for survivor buffs. Especially solo survivor but only if they buff all the weaker killers.

  • That only happens when I feel that eating the ds stun is the best option for the situation. Or, I forgot that they were recently hooked.

  • @TAG said:

You're not supposed to be able to break free with any amount of regularity. The main reason wiggling exists is so that the Killer can't just throw you in the basement every time.

Lol, can you imagine if every down led to a basement hook? As you said, struggling is most definitely useful.

  • To add onto what had already been said here. It also doesn't stun for very long. I've often caught up with the person who stunned with head on and rather quickly.

This right here. There is no good reason for anyone to be upset by these changes. It evens the playing field.

In general, red rank killers would have more experience against swf and be able to deal with it how game breaking it is.

Actually I'd say it is the opposite. Killers know what ranks they are going up against and can que-Dodge without ban if they don't want to go up against a wide rank gap lobby

Survivors have no clue what rank the killer be, even if they can make an educated guess.

No, killers do not see what rank the survivors are. Have you played killer? It doesn't show the rank like it does for survivor is the lobby.

"you also have the ability to protect them. You can help them survive and teach them things as they play. A new killer is alone- they don't have anyone to help them out when they mess up or tell them what they should be doing."

Against a rank 1 if you are wasting your time throwing yourself at a killer to protect another player then you're an anchor to the whole match and good luck against billy nurse or spirit who will slug you all faster then you can take a breath.

One thing is certain, I'm extremely hesitant to invite lower level friends back to the game.

Why would you be hesitant at inviting them back? If they are unaware that teaming with you will mean going against a higher level killer then inform them and let them decide what they want.

They can play solo, team with others closer in rank to them, or team with you and accept they will be against higher level killers. What is so bad about that?

Low rank survivors can CHOOSE who they team up with which in extension influences what rank the killer will be. Killers have never had this privilege and still cannot choose what rank the survivors will be. It doesn't matter what the swf teams intentions were.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/710306#Comment_710306

@ABannedCat So with this mentality the same could be said about how it is now... “If you’re a newbie killer you know what’s coming to you”... the old system was bad but the new one isn’t better.

The reason why this is a better solution is because the survivors can choose what team they play with. Killers cannot choose what rank survivors will be when making a lobby. Those choices being playing solo, teaming with others close to their rank, and if they choose to team with a higher ranked friend they need to accept that they will go up against a higher ranked killer but with help

Again, it is the the survivors CHOICE. Killers have never been and still are not able to choose what ranks to play against. Survivors were able to and still can make a guess guess as to what rank range they will be up against.

It was the the equivalent of hustling or something akin. Someone hiding their skill with whatever game. No, I'm not saying all swf have that intent but the result is the same. Killers had no idea what they were up against in regard to experience/skill level. While, the survivors did and could expect a lower ranked killer if teaming with lower ranked survivors and prepare accordingly (No I don't mean they could predict what the killer or perks will be). Especially on PS4 where it doesn't show hours played. Regardless of the survivor's intention it was extremely unfair to the killer.

I just started getting to red ranks and frankly it sucks. I play mainly solo survivor on PS4 and I figured I'd have much better matches because the killers would be highly skilled that they wouldn't need to tunnel, camp, slug, etc. unless the survivor is being toxic of course. I don't teabag, flashlight, body block, etc. I'm surprised at how much I get tunneled, camped and/or slugged. I barely earn any BP and most of the matches are so unenjoyable. I'll never be an expert juker. My stealthy game got me to red ranks, but it isn't holding up anymore. I wish I could de-rank back to green. I don't like to dcn or suicide because that's not fair to my fellow survivors. I'm tired of people saying "git gud." I'm tired of getting messages from killers afterwards saying "gg too ez" after they annihilated the team. I don't understand how a 5 minute game is fun for them. I wish I could maintain a more positive attitude. I play killer occasionally, but I've never liked playing 1st person perspective. I guess most people will say I should take a break. Thanks for listening. Sorry for the long rant.

Are killers really messaging you gg ez? That's lame.

A lot of this might seem like basic stuff but I don't know what exactly you are having a hard time with

Are you being found and going down quickly? Are teammates leaving you on hook or unhooking near the killer? Stealth is hard at high ranks but can be made easier with the right build. Such as quick and quiet, iron will (highly recommend), dance with me, fixated and so on. Using darker clothes helps too. Especially with Claudette. Perks like that can help avoid chases and help in losing a killer when found.

If stealth just is not working then knowing the killer and how their used can help. Knowing wgen to be stealthy is also important. Sometimes it's best to try looping and juking the killer to buy some time while the others do gens. Especially if you haven't been hooked. Oftentimes, I'll find the stealthy person last after most of the team has been killed off when they could have distracted the killer to help the team stay alive longer.

Neither stealth or looping by themselves will get you through a tough game. You have tobread the situation and determine which is best at that time.

Does Plague have corrupt purge? Might be best to wait it out or work on a gen farther away. Tier 3 Myers? Same as corrupt Plague. If it's a chainsaw happy Billy then juking him would buy a lot of time. I'd go on but I don't want to write a book when I don't know the specifics of what you're having difficulty with.

And what about the matchmaking? Do you think lvl 5 survivor with a rank 15 friend could do anything against a rank 5 killer? do you think that a solo survivor that see this in the lobby will play the game knowing this or will lobby dodge? Because I think this 2 people won't find a lobby to play

This new change is great and has been needed. Killers do not have a choice in how the survivors are teamed up. If the lower ranked survivor has an issue with this new change they can choose to team with those closer in rank or play solo.

In other words, lower ranked killers should not go against high ranked survivor. Survivors have a choice in how they are teamed up. Solo que or swf.

Blah. I'm sure their will be a highly upvoted post on the subreddit about how they're not totally not a toxic SWF survivor who bullied low rank killers and how this change is unfair to them!

Just like when the devs hid the killer loadout until all survivors were dead or escpaed. A thread popped up with thousands of 'solo' survivors claiming how they weren't toxic SWF survivors and saw the change as unfair. How they HAD to see the loadout before the match was finished for... reasons.

There already is a post on these forums...... Didn't take long. They said it annoys them.

The concept is literally the same. The concept for Legion has always been a killer who runs around doing mass stabbings.

Mochan, any killer can get a 4k. Doctor can get a 4k at rank one if the survivors are all completely terrible at the game. Does not mean Legion or the others are in a good spot. You can injure people but they, ultimately, are an m1 killer when it comes to downs. Might as well play Plag.

Survivors aren't the only players; killers are players, too, and new killers get rekt by SWF with high-rank players. Survivors can get help from their friends in SWF; the killer is all alone. Survivors can choose who they play with; the killer can't.

This change is long overdue. It's only too bad it's coming after the Stranger Things DLC was released, 'cause those players who suffered at the hands of bad matchmaking are already gone.

This right here. Killers are players too and low ranked ones don't deserve being squashed by high rank survivors just because said survivors want to play with their friends. I had my share of that when first starting out but I pushed through it. Flashlights used to be so tilting to me.
