its a 20% boost so while theres no set frequency over enough games 1 in 5 offering burned would send you to your prefferred map. doesnt mean every time in 5 would happen.

so then just remove the add on from the game, If i do not get the map i want within five games that five games of a wasted game and add on i could have used blood points or anything else.

Howdy folks, it's your favourite angry DBD nerd here to be annoyed a second time. I made a post after the "grind reduction" was first announced, where I did some math to determine that the grind reduction seemed to be in name only:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/330040/we-reduced-the-grind-except-we-kinda-didnt

This discussion was responded to by @Peanits :

Who said that the fact that you could get all killers to P1 and then level accordingly in the most efficient way possible would result in substantial BP gains as you leveled up more and more killers. So I've been thinking about that, and because I am a total nerd and dislike losing my sweet sweet BBQ bonus, I figured I'd actually calculate that value.

So! We can start by explaining what the most efficient way of getting all perks on every killer, then calculate the number of levels required, then compare them to the current method. I'm also going to ignore inherent inefficiencies in starting out leveling, such as that before you unlock any teachables in the new method, a small number of levels will be wasted on bloodwebs that have no perks, as you will not have enough perk levels to fill every bloodweb up to 50. I also will assume you get the RNG that results in the most favourable amount of bloodwebs possible, and no perks get eaten. I'll also be calculating for killer, because there are fewer and therefore less work.

Most efficient level up method in the new system:

Much like the most efficient method in the current build, the best way to get all perks starts with getting all teachables on every killer. So, every killer goes up to level 50, then prestiged. But once we hit this point, then things get a bit more complicated:

Between P1 and P3, there exist 100 levels that will unlock 120 perk tiers. However, as you P3 more and more killers, the number of perks you have to buy to complete a killer drops, as you unlock more teachables by P2 and P3ing. So to get the most optimal leveling system, you have to find the balance between leveling up killers to P3 to remove their tiers from later bloodwebs, but not so many that you're wasting BP that didn't need to be spent. So, being a good nerd, I did what I had to do:

    I MADE A SPREADSHEET.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/LV66TJ5IXMTD/bpmaths.xlsx

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IF22MABS40KB/image.png

Using this spreadsheet, I found that P3ing either 14 or 13 killers resulted in the least BP used, at roughly 3458 levels used. Notably less than the current 4182, but nowhere near the magical 75% reduction that the devs keep touting, and not even close enough to warrant the loss of BP bonuses on perks. This also isn't counting the new 50k BP fee to prestige, which is basically just an extra level that provides no perks to your total. I'd love to have my maths proven wrong, so if anyone sees a mistake, let me know.

TL:DR: I made a spreadsheet to find that the grind has reduced 18%, from 4182 levels required to 3458, not the magical 75%. According to Peanits, this should have been the most BP saved, but I'm still hard pressed to see how this new system required that BBQ and WGLF needed to be nerfed. This feels like the BP grind is simply going to get much worse, and urge the devs to make their BP bonuses base kit.

yeah they reduced the perk grind I guess but we still need loads of bp to even get to lvl 50. I honestly feel like the x2 bp events should be base. With how many killers and survivors their are it’s not that unreasonable. At least a 1.5. This new grind reduction is fantastic for the people who have played for years and already have p3 everything. For new and just casual players it’s just eh

  • @SkeletalElite said:

If you unlocked a teachable before you will still be able to get it in the bloodweb. In no way will progress be lost.

Okay, but going forward teachables won’t be a thing?

True, but dbd is a multiplayer game unlike fnaf. I enjoy the lore of dbd quite a bit actually.

I do to i wish they would expand more on it other than just the rift (archives)

  • @MusicNerd_TC said:

No. Fnaf is the cheapest horror game out there. This is my opinion, so here I go. It just relies on its jumpscares, and don't come at me with how the story is amazing. The story is absolute garbage, and way too bloated and all over the place for it to even be half decent. Saying a story is good because of how complex it is, would be like saying a song with a screwdriver in a glass bottle, a laundry machine and a drill being played all at once is masterful. Every game is the same, night gaurd, use cameras etc etc. The games are so unoriginal that the scares fail almost all the time. Jumpscares are soooo predictable, and the animatronics just look silly. My opinion though ;).

Thank you for explaining. Side note dbd doesnt really have a story either. It has some lore here and there but thats pretty much it.

  • @bm33 said:

No. There's many many many other licensed horror content that should be added before fnaf. It's targeted towards children (books found in kids section) so aside from attracting them to the game parents groups would attack DBD for being an adult game adding a dlc from a franchise targeted towards children - that's just an unnecessary headache that would take away BHVR focus on more important game issues. The fans have been obnoxious with daily posts, harassing streamers (both on social media and streams), and trashing iconic horror characters that I've seen people that were OK with it now be completely against it - some streamers have even banned it from their chats it's been so bad. If DBD were to add an animatronic they could come up with better original content than having a licensed fnaf character.

    Thank you for explaining yourself

So if I want my old sens should I go to 75 or 50??

yes im sure that happend every game.

    *Happens

  • @Aztreonam78 said:

Before introducing hook recovering, sabotage was very fun mechanic... for Survivors. For killers it was butt hurting as hell.

After introducing hook recovering, sabotage was nerfed to the ground and very few Survivors tried it... to get disappointed.

Now Sabotage.. can work, but it is very difficult, and if it works - killers become annoyed, they are forced to slug - boring gameplay for Survivors. Sabotage is underwhelming, but it should be, and it hurts both sides.

Bcs of this, sabotage should be decommissioned, for the game in my opinion it would be healthier.

So you want to remove it because its annoying....?

  • @LoverOfDemogorgon said:

I've been playing wraith a lot recently at rank 1, i am 4k'ing literally every game and he is dominating it seems, I think he needs a nerf because other killers might start catching on and he will become a meta killer. He should be nerfed now before he really starts to over-preform. What I think would be a good nerf idea is if his addons were nerfed, many of them stack and can lead to downright broken combinations if played correctly, plus he has wallhack addon which literally have no drawback, if his addons were nerfed I think that would make him a LOT more balanced as playing against him as survivor unless you are running spine-chill honestly you stand very little chance against a good wraith. This is honest feedback I hope BHVR can take into consideration, please any thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Look at that a killer main asking for a nerf. Hmmmmm im thinking this guy is an imposter. Wraith does not neede nerf.

  • Yes. There really needs to be more controller settins and more key binds. Trying to heal at a pallet put then putting it down because every action is rb.

I mean if you consider totems part of the survivors job then they failed to do it if the killer has NOED

according to the tutorial no no totems are not the objective

  • @Cancan71 said:

I'm sure we all had it happen, where the killer leaves you slugged and BMs you until you bleed out. All that does is waste your time. If all survivors are down they should be allowed to kill themselves so we can move on to the next game (they would all need to agree just in case someone had unbreakable of course). Obviously it would give the killer the points needed and give them any perk tokens like BBQ. You can look at Identity V to see how this works.

And yes this is a rant but still it's a good QoL feature for survivors.

No. This isn't some fps game. Plus that is a basically a dc but without a punishment

  • @OtakuFreak said:

As someone who plays both roles, I have no issue with ''No One Escapes Death''. Sure, it's not particularly fun to play against, but if it does come into play, then it's entirely the survivors fault!

However, many survivors post-game give me a lot of slack for using this perk, despite running Decisive Strike, Adrenaline & other top tier survivor perks which could arguably be even more frustrating to play against. In fact, the survivor equivalent to NOED is ''Adrenaline'', which has no counter-play available to every killer, yet NOED does!

I often use NOED to punish survivors who rush generators and decide to not leave once the gates are open and want to be cheeky & annoying. Many people call NOED a perk which is for ''bad killers''. However, they ignore the fact that the correspondent killer is playing with 3 perks for the rest of the game and may not even have the chance to use it if the Survivors cleanse totems.

To me, people seem to dislike ''No One Escapes Death'' due to its power punishing gen rushing, along with any decision to stay in the end game.

    Thoughts?

ThErE Is No CoUnTeR tO AdReNaLiNe. How bout you just kill all the survivors. And plus punishing the players for gen rushing.... ######### are we supposed to do just chill and wait 10 minutes then do the gens.

well the same could be said for adrenaline it only work if all 5 gens are finished yet everyone and their mother use it I wonder why lol

omfg why u keep comparing noed to adrenaline like do survivors do their job and you get rewarded its a simple sprint boost and a health state AND you get exhasted....Noed though "Oh you failed to do your job nice here are unlimited insta downs"

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/105760/so-spirit-mains

In my opinion that may differ from others. I dont think that the nerf will change anything. The reason being you can only outplay spirit while you are healthy. Once injured you are more or less dead.

While phasing she has no other audio input than moaning and footsteps. So mind gaming a pallet is almost impossible but even if you do. She can phase again in no time.

But hey maybe I am wrong.

it really wont. The only thing they did was remove the gen grabber which was obviously op and not fun for survivors and add a vault animation which is what should have been a thing since the beginning. Spirit can still just stand still and "mindgame"

  • @Rin_is_my_waifu said:

    @altruistic @Dwight_Fairfield

So all these times when after getting unhooked survivor proceeds to unhook other survivors, work on totems, work on gens, jump in lockers is definetely very situational.

You get absolute immunity for 60 seconds regardless of killer actually being around or not.

We know that completing Tome 1 gives you 93 fragments.

Tome IV, from leaks, gives you 85 fragments, so 178 fragments in total.

Lets be generous and say that Tome 2 and 3 give you 111 fragments each, so 222 in total (which equals to 400 fragments= 40 tiers), which i know is highballing, there is no way they will give you 111 each.

That leaves us with 300 fragments needed for 30 tiers in order to complete the rift. Since 800xp= 1 fragment, and 1xp = 1second spent IN MATCH, that sums us to about 66.6hrs spent in MATCHES to earn 30 tiers, even with highballing Tome 2 and 3 rewards.

So yeah, it is pretty close to 70hours, but thats only time spent in matches, assuming every match is pitch perfect, netting exactly 600xp (hard cap) and then ending, giving you 1 fragment every 13.3minutes, which we all know is not the case.

When you include all the "bad matches" as well as waiting to find lobby, waiting for match to start, waiting to load etc, you are looking at a solid 25-30min / fragment, which is about 125-150hours needed to complete the rift at BEST, and thats only if you complete all of the challenges, and Tome 2/3 give you 222fragments in total.

BHVR, Archives are awesome concept and are adding much needed and fan wanted lore to the game, Rift holds many cool cosmetics, please do not let the grind ruin it for many of us.

    Cheers.

and to add some of those challenges seem impossible

Problem is, that the perks wouldn't even work against those killers, since they now have the undetectable status though.

yea but they would help killers that have terror radius.

  • @ahandfulofrain said:

You would need to massively increase the amount of tokens required to activate it, in that case. I would probably be able to activate it two or three times per game with all those conditions. Preventing two or three downs is absolutely game changing.

I would wait and see what the improved protection hit detection does first. If all goes well, it should be much easier to get your tokens.

The improved hit detection will help but I played a game where I didn't do gens or anything and just followed injured people. I still only got one use out of MOM

  • @[Deleted User] said:

imo. we should temporarily stop discussing about MoM. because devs said they'll be reworking protection hits. and at the same time. they buffed MoM so you can activate it more than one time.

if they'll make protection hits easier to earn. and more rewarding (bloodpoints). MoM will probably be a " bit " possible to activate without wasting your entire time ?

i wish people could stop saying "you can use it more than once" like i can't even get it to activate once when I purposly get protection hits for the whole game

  • @ElusivePukka said:

    Nope.

Despite outward appearance and some obvious exceptions, this is a horror game, where tension and stress is part of the experience. Creepypasta is rather solidly in the realm of joke fodder, especially Jeff-boi - if you're scared of creepypasta, you're too young to be playing this game.

He said they would just be skins. And this game isn't even that scary and they already have skins that seem like jokes. No one sees legion and poops there pants. So making him jeff isnt that bad of an idea. Nurse as slender idk about that one cause there pretty different.

This killer has a steep learning curve and it may be high risk, high rewarding.

What could be nerfed is just the infamous prayer beads addon :make it the rarest or remove it, but Spirit herself is fine as she is.

There is already a lot of options to outplay her, it's not our issue if somebody wants to run the same build over and over again, learn how to counter her.

Yea because spirit is a super hard killer to be.....if you stand still and they run you get a hit. If you stand still and the run towards you you get a hit. If you stand still at a pallet and they stand still you phase and get them, and if you stand still and they run you hit them....

Hillbilly: Hits the survivor in the head repeatedly until the survivor is dead.

thats pretty much the same still.

  • @Sneaky6 said:

Whenever a killer slugs survivors with no intention of hooking them up whatsoever, I feel that the game should actually respond. The entity, if it was aware of this behaviour from one of the killers would surely never actually let this happen. There would need to be fair windows of opportunity for a killer to grab a survivor, so this idea would need to be developed properly and tested. Given that it really does go against the feel of the game, and also given that it is one the worst survivor gameplay experiences that you can have - it is astounding to me that the issue has never been addressed in game before.

I suggest that we have a game mechanic that discourages slugging.

here are a few workable examples.

    • If a teammate has been down on the ground for x time the remaining survivors get an action speed buff.
    • after a survivor has been down on the ground for x time, the entity restricts the killers ability to swing their weapon. (Maybe it applies a huge stun after a swing, or maybe it locks the action altogether, again, this would need play testing to see what works best)
    • After a survivor has been left on the ground for x time, the entity applies a movement speed debuff to the killer that lasts for y time after the survivor is back up
    • After a survivor has been left on the ground for x time, The entity disables the killers ability to vault windows or break pallets.

Slugging might be considered a legitimate play style by some, and if you’re reading this and you are in that boat, then fair enough. I’m merely stating my opinion, this is what I think of while I’m laying there on the ground, bored and waiting for a timer to expire. Something about that doesn’t feel very.. dead by daylight, you know?

thanks for getting to the bottom of my essay.

    Have a good one!
