Honestly, you should just be able to see their auras after a certain amount of time.

it'd make them a bit less of a pain.

I'm fine with just the sounds, it's just the directional aspect of it I struggle with at times. I rarely try to hunt them down but when I do I'm usually just looking up and down trying to figure out if it's up top or ground floor.

  • @Brimp said:

Their audio radius is tiny compared to the ptb where you could hear a boon inside dead dawg main building from outside it.

Okay good, so I'm not completely deaf.

  • Gen rushing has been brought up as an issue, and I think this might their idea of a solution. If both sides can push the speeds in their own direction, it's okay.

  • @Salvador578 said:

I'm the biggest Spine Chill main on earth and even I think it's BS sometimes cause it reduces most stealth killers like Myers and Wraith to M1 Killers lol.

I feel like it neuters ghostie most. He's the only killer who actually has to look at a survivor to make full use of his power.

  • @MonsterInMyMind said:

The difference is with Boon the Survivors healing speeds are buffed stupidly which takes away the split pressure play style or well "hit and run" which was commonly used to counter gen rushing back during the old anti heal meta

I still try to hit and run as ghostie and straight up someone got upset because I didn't mark them every single time.

We've come full circle where I tried to avoid tunneling above all but they still weren't happy.

That list is outdated now since its missing last 3 so its a almost a yo still tho it gives some good tips still

The Quiz is up to date though.

  • @Schinderella said:

Quite honestly I think Dead Hard is a much bigger problem than any boon perk right now. I'm still in favor of introducing a limitation to the boon perks and balancing their effects accordingly though.

I'd be willing to argue that Dead Hard has more counterplay than boons though. At least DH has a timer between preventing spam and you can fake it out during an objective; chasing down survivors.

Boons you have to actively set aside other tasks and snuff them, either wasting more time to get to them or leaving them as is and dealing with that. There's no real permanent work around.

  • @NemmyMan3000 said:

It is weird that I am asking a pretty toxic community who should I try out or main as a killer, but who the hell cares.

I am honestly getting bored of getting absolutely trashed on when it comes to any killer I play. Looping with god pallets is honestly the most annoying thing ever and I cant stop dead hard users that extend chases longer than they need to be. But thats not why we are here.

I have almost every killer unlocked (Minus Sadako and GF) and there is just no fun playing either, sure sometimes Ill get the greatest match and then feel good going into another, only just to be completely destroyed by SWF flashlight users, bad maps (aka The Game), and just me not being able to loop.

So I am asking for a decent not too frustrating killer that can do good in chases while also having a bit of pressure on gens.

I used the quiz provided in this vid to help me out after switching to killer. Plus he gives a breakdown on each killer at the time.

I'd rather it go back to a 100% healing speed bonus and not be able to continue to be replaced every time it gets snuffed.

I feel like that'd work fine, like totems. You see people healing fast and you know there's a boon nearby. And at the point it's worth it to snuff since you're not wasting time to hunt it down just to have it replaced ten seconds later.

I understand that I truly do and I feel you on it. But as a survivor it's hard af to even bring an item into the game without Franklin's or being tunneled lol so pointless

How often do you really run into Franklin's though?

And tunneling isn't the best, although I get why it's a thing.

  • @JimbusCrimbus said:

It was never the healing rate that was the issue. The problem with CoH is the same problem every boon has. It's not what it does. It's what it offers.

If there was a limit to how much it could be used, like, making it so a totem could only be booned once, it would be a lot better. Killers take exception to it in it's current form because they can't A) destroy the boon, but only snuff it out leaving the same totem boonable again, and B) When a killer's totem is cleansed, it's gone. They can't get it back. Survivors can just keep booning and booning, and killers can't do ######### about it.

Not to mention it's not always worth it, because boon hunting can waste so much time even if you know there is one. It's a lose-lose scenario for the teamless side.

  • @TheycallmeLix said:

i bet Killer mains will still complain about COH (even when it’s nerfed for 2nd time now..) Let’s wait and see. Your comments and threads saying: WE WON.. makes me thinks how childish some people are. It’s not like we also said this cap when Deathslinger/Spirit got nerfed.

This is doing nothing to help, just divide. Thanks.

I get that but honestly it's better than it just sitting in there doing nothing for you lol. I have all but 4 survivors on ps4 p3 and I have all survivors p3 on pc lol the grind is real, I just want more bp haha.

I've also thought about more than a daily challenge like possibly a daily weekly and monthly, more incentive to play the game other than just grinding, I get that we have the rift and stuff, but with how many perks killers and survivors there is, it takes nearly forever to level them all lol

Nah, I hear you. The grind isn't fun it's just tedious for no other reason than to drag the game out. When I first saw it I thought it's interesting, but it's outdated and full of things that are bought just because they have to be. The selling idea isn't bad, I'd just rather not have to spend the points on useless items in the first place.

  • Why would they nerf artist?

  • @MrsMaliciousX said:

So, I've been playing the game for about 4 years. Almost 4k hours on ps4 and almost 3k hours on pc. And I've been thinking of ways to possibly keep the grinding not so grind lol.

I think it would be pretty cool if we could sell our items and add-ons ect for bp that we get from the blood web.

It would allow for some extra blood points and it would allow us to get rid of stuff that we don't use or want without having to take it into a game and dropping or dying with it.

Actually brought up clearing the bloodweb up a bit in the polls. 64% want it cleaned out so there's no as many wasted bloodpoints.

As for selling, I'd rather not sell anything for less than I bought it. I've wasted so many points on things I don't want or need.

  • Making it solely a skill based, dodge ability makes sense. Does anyone really think that they wouldn't use it if the distance was shortened?

  • I think the issue with how it stands now, is that people wann treat hexes and boons similarly.

Survivors can hunt for hexes and permanently delete them in a match. Killers can't. They also don't have the same alternative to just hunt down the boons since it can take too much time away from gen defense. If there's remotely any communication, you'll never get to the boon in time to prevent it from being made.

It's more of a seasonal ranking than anything, the game wants to reward you for playing a lot so that you are more likely to play more.

I feel like it's more confusing that way, and I'd feel more rewarded if it was treated as normal ranking system per season.

Honestly I just wanna know exactly what determines mmr.

Is it really that bad? I always strafe with the drift instead of trying to just walk forward. Yes, sometimes the survivor gets enough benefit out of it to wiggle out, but not that often.

I know for me, there have plenty of times where BO just held me in place, or physically made me lock in one direction, left, right, forward, or back. I couldn't do anything to stop it.

  • Honestly I haven't noticed much more outside of getting more bodyblockers today.

To everyone saying get rid of grades, would you want to see your mmr at all? Actually have it visible?

  • @t0007319 said:

I think the survivor should be replaced by a bot or a veto system if it’s within the minute of the game, it’s a lost cause if someone dcs early and no gens are done.

Dont think anyone should get punished other than the person that dcs really.

    This is what I don't get. A vote system wouldn't inherently work. Plus a 3v1 isn't impossible, so it's not necessarily a lost cause I wouldn't say.

  • @TheArbiter said:

Bots are good, but play the game the way you want to play, you by no means have to follow the survivor's rulebook for killers

You're right, I'm just curious after reading some of the forum ideas. It's unfair sure, but as a killer it wouldn't be my fault. As a survivor It's not mine either unless I disconnected.

  • @TeabaggingGhostface said:

If the killer has to play easier if a survivor dcs, then survivors have to play easier if they pop a hex

    Firstly, love the username.

Second, I can see the idea behind that but destroying hexes is a game mechanic. Plus we know it'll be cleansed either way. 🙃

  • I don't think the nerf was necessary, so much as just the nature of boons needs to be addressed.

Being able to light another one, with no real permanent counter, or penalty doesn't help healthy gameplay. There's games where even hunting down a boon takes too much time, and you'll just lose another gen, so why bother?

  • @FlameGNG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2889785#Comment_2889785

Im not saying its impossible but its VERY hard compared to 4v1...

IT doesnt have to be anything advanced pretty much like every other game that has it someone leaves but instead of calling a vote a small window can pop up on the right side with 3 boxes and you press like f1 for yes f2 for no, when someone votes a green tick appears in one box and if someone votes no its a red cross or something like that. If the vote gets a majority the match is cancelled and the killer can be given 5000 bp or something since they couldnt vote.

It's really not that massively different. The killer has it slightly easier focusing on only 3 as opposed to 4, but you still get to a 3v1 in the game normally. It's definitely not braindead, but I wouldn't say it's that bad.

    1. You're completely denying an actual vote on the opposing side which renders the killers opinion useless. For as much as you admit it can be abused, you're consistently offering more ways to do so.

    2. Idk what you're getting per game, but I usually get way more than 5k, and that's even with 1k games. 5k isn't worthwhile at all.

    3. I'd still like to know a more concrete idea on how late this can be called in-game? You've changed the time a few times.

All around, it's a flawed idea because of the nature of the game.

I would guess for the next rift in a month to a month and a half.

Shrine of secrets Laurie's perk would be good to get as she is a licensed survivor and if you don't buy her you might not get the perk again. It is not super useful unless you want to see the killer with the killer seeing you. Unbreakable is good and if you don't want to level Bill its easy to get now. Undying is a great hex to have as a killer if you run hexes and iron maiden for huntress and trickster is great!

Posts like this just make me smile, it's nice when we're giving advice to one another. 😌

  • I feel this. It used to be Haddonfield. Now its The Game.

  • There are a lot of mixed opinions here. Way more than I expected.

  • Actually we already have a sort of voting system for maps, in the form of offerings......It can be up to 4v1 each game.

  • @FlameGNG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2887535#Comment_2887535

Yea it has it flaws because as you said why would a killer vote to end a 3v1? its almost always a free win... And i do think the DC penalty is bad 5 min for a starter i think it should be 15 or 20 (option to rejoin within 2 min and have a bot take over which might be something in the future idk... since we do have bots in the tutorial like they dont have to be good but)

And as you said a swf could "abuse" it by having one person dc and then cancel at the start and they could leave 4x as many matches since only one has to take on for the team... And well i dont think there is a good way to solve that it is what it is... but for those cases where there are 4 randoms and you have one person instantly disconnecting instead of waiting 3 4 minutes to die you could just skip it but as with everything it has it ups and downs :)

But for how long would you want them to be able to vote for? Will it only trigger after a DC in the first minute?

A 3v1 isn't as impossible as you're making it out to be. It doesn't almost always guarantee a free win.

Side note, why did you put quotes around abuse? That's exactly what that would be, abusing a game mechanic. The bots might be an idea, but I feel it could be unfair to survivors, depending on how well the AI are built.

  • Might be a noob question, but whats the point of having the ranks if they're not reflective of mmr?

Balanced for swfs, which is of course what things should be balanced for, as in any pvp games.

Dbd isn't like other pvp games though. They're apples to oranges.

Do you believe we should have all survivors be able to communicate in-game?

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/317878/no-killer-needs-a-nerf-most-of-them-are-balanced-or-need-a-buff

Eh...Nurse needs an overhaul. As it stands, she tends to get laughed out of the room at low and intermediate MMRs and becomes an unstoppable god of destruction at high MMR. Her kit is just a problem as it circumvents a lot of the game (loops, vaults etc.). Plus her addons are a touch too strong in places.

Blight - I see plenty of Blights. The issue isn't Blight, it's again - his addons. And yet they keep buffing them...who knows?

That all said, I'd prefer to see all killers brought up to the level of the 'A' tier (Plague, Artist, PH etc.) before we start hacking away at the Big 3.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2888563#Comment_2888563

Yeah addons...one of the biggest differences between killers I like playing (Artist, Nemesis) and killers I love playing (Demo, Plague) is their addons - not just in terms of firepower, but how they can open up new styles/builds.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2888533#Comment_2888533

Sure. And I'm sure a lot of killer mains would want the DH rework, about half the maps reworked and a lot of crap killers buffed before survivors get a look.

Right now...it's a bit of an arms race between killer kits on one side and an increasingly sophisticated and skilled survivor base on the other. So much of what makes a killer good is 1v1 potential+mobility. And that's not good for anyone - because if a killer lacks these, they tend to suck (or resort to cheesy tactics).

Another point is the SWF/solos issue. I'm not sure that the new status effects are going to make such a huge enough difference. The problem is probably going to have to be solved by the Matchmaking system - with some sort of temporary, proportional MMR inflation to SWFs to ensure they get stronger opponents, freeing up the killer they would have faced for more appropriate survivors.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2888793#Comment_2888793

Keep in mind that there is no connection between grades and MMR/matchmaking anymore. Grades are purely for BP rewards on the 13th, they mean sod all, especially this late in the month.

Right forgot about that. I'd still argue I'm nowhere near high rank.

    Thank you!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2888054#Comment_2888054

Yeah you could look at it this way however how it current works is you can get 4 free kills by doing nothing, just doing gens. Plus survivors can clense the totem. Think about devour hope. if they don't clense before they know what it is you can snowball a 4 man slug with devour hope at 3 stacks very easily.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2888300#Comment_2888300

I don't see it as a huge buff as such. yeah i see that its powerful how i proposed it however with the ability for survivors to hunt the totem during the match makes it a risk. on par with devour hope. FYI no where in my post did i moan about the perk. I don't use it (unless im doing end game) and when i do play survivor don't care if they are running it because i either do bones or die.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2888286#Comment_2888286

I agree. Hexes don't last long enough however survivors don't break dull totems much anymore. its just not needed, especially with boons being a thing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2888805#Comment_2888805

To remove the exposed status completly would render the perk useless. The speed boost u get isnt huge and the ability to protect the exit gates comes down to if you get good spawns (for most players).

Maybe instead of Exposed untill dying state exposed for 60 seconds would be a better idea. Similar to Haunted Grounds timing. This way it wouldnt guarentee a down but still be useful.

The Exposed part is why everyone hates it, with the caveat of Haste.

It would be a useful perk, if the boost was good enough, for non-mobility killers

  • I honestly think the only issue with boons is that they can just be relit as many times as they'd like.

Acting as killer, if you get a rare team where there's multiple boon players, you can't focus on constantly breaking them. It takes too much time on some maps.

  • Would anyone think its an okay idea to just slightly buff the haste effect, and remove the exposed status effect?

That was it can still be used in endgame to better protect the gates.

I was thinking something closer to 2/4/6%

Probably because he has low mmr and at low mmr blights are less common

To be fair, mmr is sorta screwy. While I mostly play Killer, I'm consistently placed with at least 1-2 red ranks a game.

Depending on which side I'm playing. I'm Silver at best right this moment. Been this way everyone time I'm back to Ash.

    All killers are viable.

    Please make all teammates viable.

IN truth, I just don't understand this argument. Certain powers are inherently more powerful than others. There is no way to make Trapper as powerful as Nurse. They have different powers. And there is nothing wrong with this. Getting a 2k with Trapper should be enjoyed as much as a 4k with Nurse.

It's different for each killer, but most M1 characters lack any real map pressure since they lack mobility and lethality. You can still win, but it's incredibly more difficult to 4K depending on the map, and how good the opposing side communicates.

well nothing but then 1 has to dc...? and they that team has to wait 5 minutes... minimum... what stops them all 4 from dcing and STILL waiting 5 minutes? nothing... + they could increase the DC so it isnt 5 minutes because now if i want to leave i can dc go to the kitchen get a drink go back and the cooldown is over...

+ they can just suicide on hook so i dont get ur point...

My point was it's inherently flawed. The DC time penalty isn't that bad, so figure you a group of four, they have four chances to just vote and say hell nah after one DC. Dying on hook is completely up to that one survivor and it offers absolutely no benefit. The way you worded it, you only would need one DC to vote for an end to the match.

In the case of a voting system it would, because the rest of the team can just get a do-over. That's unfair to the other side of the playerbase, killers. But if you involve killers in the vote, I don't honestly know how often they'd vote to end it.

But inherently shouldn't one side technically be easier, or more forgiving as it player wise, it's a team vs a solo player? Isn't that how these sorts of games should operate?

I do think it's overplayed. But I think the majority of issues stem from the nature of the game.

Also, depends on the fruit, but usually jam. It's actually a play on words "Jammin' Jelly"

The advantages get overstated though, and although there are advantages, they're not hugely significant against highly skilled killer players. SWF amplifies bad matchmaking, but it's not going to hugely swing a well-made match.

When I, as an Ash III at the time, can be matched with 2 Iris, a Gold II, and a Bronze I, that can present problems. The matchmaking is botched as is.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The big thing BHVR has never been able to reconcile balance-wise is the massive skill gap between their top end and average players. This presents itself in a huge way when it comes to maps and their design.

They're very reluctant to touch tile spawn logic or map size. Are many maps overtuned with too many safe tiles too close together? Yes. But I'd estimate players even up to the 80th percentile still consistently take hits at safe tiles.

And if you make tiles less safe, that 90th percentile killer player is going to get a hit at every single one on any killer. There's almost no grey area between safe and easy hit every time when a killer's skill reaches a certain point. It either is or it isn't.

Point being: the balance could be a lot better in many ways, but it's delicate.

The fragility is what I'm curious about. The nature of the game doesn't really make balance easy in the slightest, but there's so many routes you could take it, since a change affects both parties in drastically different ways.

All in all, I've noticed it's consistent that we can agree the highest end players are in another league, and that there's not really a bridge between a newer player and the older veterans.

The game will never be totally balanced of course, but it could be much better. It should be balanced top down rather than what we currently have which is bottom up. There's some misconception that this would hurt the bottom level of players but this really isn't the case. All it would do is shift their "rank/MMR" around until they were winning/losing exactly as much as they were before. However now we'd actually have much more balanced high rank matches.

Balancing at the high end makes more sense since it'll help lower end players to try to improve. If things come too easy, I feel like you just remain stagnant.

I do feel like the current MMR system is a little weird but not always clear as to what you need to pip up.

yea but if its midgame they have atleast done something hopefully those are also frustrating but if they loop 1 minute go down and DC thats 60 sec on hopefully 3 gens which takes 80sec to comeplete... if they DC at the start its a 1v3 5 gens 1 in chase so 2 people on gens if you hook someone and chase someone thats 0 people on gens... its very hard to win a 3v1

Yes but I'm saying what's to stop a team from just deciding to quit early to avoid dealing with certain killers?

Midgame or early game its still unfair to the killer, and they're not the reason there's a DC. That'd be on the survivor who left. Fair or not it'll only encourage skipping a game to avoid possibly harder games. It may be hard but it's nowhere near impossible. How would want bhvr to fix it so it can't be abused?

From every game I've played, DCs are more common midgame. Not 15 seconds in. At the start of the game, sure not much can happen. But a vote system will be abused, and most DCs happen later than the immediate start of a game.

i do get that but if you have 1 dc at the start of the game that favours the killer... dont you think its fair for the survivors to vote if they want to continue and lose 997/1000 times?

No not at all. Because what's to stop a team from voting after they start losing. A DC doesn't constitute a stalemate between either side.

Whats to stop one survivor from taking one for the team, so that the other three can disconnect?

1 2 3
