Can you guys try using dead hard?
Thing is that there needs to be a stress test
So the killer should have
- Sloppy Butcher
- I'm all ears
- Surge
- Franklin's
Survivors should have
- Dead hard or Lithe or Smash Hit
- Carry objects
Lithe still drops frames, especially on the RPD map but Azarov's as well. So does Dead Hard and Sloppy, and D-Slinger firing apparently.
Three games as killer and three more as surv, no crashes yet.

Yup yup, took about 16min for me. Most of my non-sports games are less than 20g

Update size is 21.53gb for Xbox1

Did you see the part where the extra zombies spawn after a survivor is sacrificed?
One less survivor, one more zombie. Performance should be fine.
Yes I read it. Just the thought of it made my Xbox1 shudder, and prolly melted a Switch somewhere...

Fog Infused Strain
- Add an extra zombie to the map after a Contaminated Survivor is killed
Piercing Whip
- Tentacle Strike can hit multiple objects
Taskmaster Whip
- Tentacle Strike no longer destroys zombies and you gain no Mutation from hitting them.
- Zombies hit by Tentacle Strike immediately begin to chase the nearest Survivor.
- Considerably increases movement speed of zombies hit by Tentacle Strike for 60 seconds
During development of Nemmy they had an iri add-on that would spawn a third zom zom, but it tanked game performance so badly they scrapped it and changed the add-on. No doubt they test on good PC's during development, so if that had a hard time running another zom imagine average PC's let alone the consoles trying to do so.
As for no longer killing your own zoms to further power gain, doing so is often the fastest way, especially on big open maps where the zoms are less effective. I look at it just like teiring up Myers, ya got to get out of teir 1 as fast as possible.

I'm hopeful for the update. I think the problem was always the HDD thing considering people who put DBD on a SSD say it never ran that well. So, knowing the problem, I hope it's going to be easier to solve it.
Maybe it won't be our promised 60FPS, but I'd be happy with a stable 30~45 that doesn't drop to the single digits on some maps or some killers.
At the worst case, they can just give us the Switch treatment and lower the graphic resolution, which I'm sure most people won't care if it means better performance.
Absolutely please let us lower the graphics and reclaim some frames

Now I understand that this game is played on 6 different platforms. But based on MY expereince in playing the last couple of days, I'm noticing I'm getting paired up with a lot more steam users than what I usually get paired up. In a lot of my matches in the past week I been getting paired up with whole full steam squads which is rare ever since cross-play was introduce. So why am I'm not seeing as much people from different platforms, or maybe I'm just getting paired up with more steams players than usual. But has anyone else noticed?
With the recent patches killing performance many of us consolers have either stopped playing altogether or opted out of Crossplay in an attempt to level the playing field some.

The devs know this is wanted, and they say it is being worked on, but there's never been an update as to if and when Cross Progression will ever happen.
It's hard to say if it's Sony & Microsoft holding things up, or simply a deal they all can live with hasn't been ironed out yet.

are you talking about queue times when you have crossplay off?
I believe he is playing with the Crossplay off, so he's just in the PC pool of players. Being cut off from the entire console playerbase would likely send queue times soaring for a PC player

I'm not trying to excuse people who DC (and if i am that's not my intensions) but do you think that most people are dcing because of the poor optimization? Most of us have experienced lag causing survivors and killers to lose out on chases making it very frustrating. I'm going to assume the best and say that they got fed up with the optimizing and decided not to play. What do you think?
The recent rash of dc's was absolutely due to the matchmaking lock penalties being off. If they had stayed on, the much much fewer dc's would have been from either going against Nemesis and/or RPD map & leaving due to that lagfest mess on most platforms, or due to normal salt on both sides.
Either way the number of dc's would have been closer to normal, maybe slightly elevated with the state of the game.
However I also believe some players would also have stopped playing due to the game's current performance issues and the penalties still up.

Microsoft has official support for it, so for the Xbox it is simply adding the API. The same is true for PS. The switch would be the most difficult as far as I am aware they don't have any support for it in their tools. Therefore no it actually for most of them is some work, but not something actually difficult for most of the consoles... they even already have mappings of what should control what due to PC. The statement it is hard is outdated as Sony and Microsoft have both released API tools to developers in the last couple of years.
As for an UI overhaul? Euhm you realize that PC has the UI already, it is literally already created.
I'm not saying I believe it, just relaying the devs response last time they actually gave one to this question. If the guts to do it are already there, then why hasn't it been implemented yet? Must be reasons.
I still think it won't happen, not even on the newer gen consoles.

Euhm a double standard is being used here. You have the advantage on a PS5 versus a PS4 or Xbox One. Yet now that is all of a sudden "fair". See how your picking is biased and such a system will disproportionately affect specific platforms? You claim to not want to play where disadvantages are in play, yet have no issues including less powerful machines that are at a disadvantage compared to you. Either you claim to want an even playing field, which is provided by opting out or you embrace the inclusive nature of crossplay.
If you want options, ask for mouse and keyboard support.
If you want better optimization, nobody will disagree with you on that.
If you want elitist picking rights... no.
As to the adding of m&k support, it ain't ever coming to console. The reasons given were it would take way too long, be way too much work, and also require a UI overhaul as well.

I would say that PS4 probably has slightly fewer players than PC currently, maybe 50K. It consistently ranks in the top % of games played on PS4 and it was free on PSN for a bit iirc.
Xbox likely has about half of PS4's numbers, likely bolstered by Game Pass.
Your ratios seem sound to me. I firmly believe if the RE chapter hadn't nuked us consolers so badly and the event went off flawlessly that the various PlayStations would have surpassed the PC total by now.
We Xboxers are lagging way behind fam... no pun intended.

The RE chapter has caused some major issues for me. Im running a decent system with the RTX 3070 and ive never experienced these frame drops, stutters, and crashes until the new chapter. These on top of the server lag and teleporting is making the game less fun to play. This is part of the reason I've decided to partake in the decision, as has many others, to not buy DLC for the next few months. Stuff needs to change.
Appreciate you or any of our PC cousins stopping by and relating your experiences. On console we've been dealing with many of those same issues you describe for years now, just look back in this thread to before RE came out for some choice examples.
If decent PC rigs have trouble running DBD well that doesn't make me feel too good about console's chances, even the newer machines. What is it about just this game??

I mentioned the idea because of how busy they are. With so much work, the mid-chapter patches don't give them enough time to fix the problems.
Like many here, I would love it if they took a chapter or two off and only worked on problems, be it a thorough optimization, perks, balance, maps, killer powers, pretty much all of it.
If they did that for like 5-6 months with the occasional bloodhunt to entertain us and teases to entice us, we'd likely end up with a much more stable game.
If only...

agree, also the updates should also come more frequently, especially bug fixes.
Due to running all patches through Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo for certification one patch a week is prolly the fastest they can do changes, as they have for some time now done all updates across all platforms all at the same time.
If it were only going through Steam there could be multiple patches within a week if necessary, but with the consoles it can take more than a week to get those certifications done.
Trickster's chapter was pushed back a week solely because of such a delay I believe.

There are other rules besides not holding the game hostage.
True doing this in the gates can be described as taking advantage of an exploit for example. My point was since the timer is going and no one is bobyblocked or whatever, I can't see doing this ever acted upon with bans.
-
@twistedmonkey said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2368593#Comment_2368593
I doubt it as its not game breaking.
I can't see them banning players for a bug created by them which overall is an irritation, the egc timer is going down so the game will end.
This is essentially why they could not ban for it. Since the EGC timer is running, the match will end, so there's no taking the game hostage going on.
Since this is highly visible and easily reproduced I'd wager it is patched out next update.

Comp SWF teams do know where each other are at all times
They use a numbering system that goes clockwise around the map to divide the map into 12 sections and use the numbers to call out locations. This is how they are always able to bodyblock for each other so efficiently and avoid sandbagging their team mates.
Ive played much more of my surv life in this game within a 3- or 4- man group on comms, with a revolving door of at least 60 other players . We have never divied up the map into pizza slices and labeled them out. It might be our skill or not, but that is beyond our coordination, even with all of us rank 6-1.
Most bodyblocks are a surprise to us still, outside of endgame conga lines out a door or deliberately peeling a killer off of their tunnels. Believe it or not the second one pisses off the killer far more than the first, although I expect both when I play killer and feel their coordination.

If it's the data I'm thinking of, that just shows the total number of people who have ever launched DbD. It's not the same as the player data for Steam, which shows current number of players.
Here's the sliplit of numbers I found a while ago, apparently from mid 2020. Of course the link I found it on is broken or moved or whatever, but not surprised as I knew I was looking at something I wasn't supposed to. I had posted it in Pulsar's uber thread.
Bonus points if anyone gets the reference too:
My spies and agents tell me the breakdown is something like this:
~223,000 total; approx 87000 on pc, 77000 on ps, 45000 on xbox, and 14000 everything else.
Now keep in mind they are an utterly unreliable pool of info even on the very best of days.
Also good luck getting official counts due to UEA deals with the consoles.
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2360415#Comment_2360415
Do you have a source for that? Keep in mind, though, that "console" isn't one massive platform. If memory serves, DbD is on five separate consoles from three different manufacturers.
Exact numbers of consolers aren't known due to the various UEA's but in loose terms all consoles together passed PC end of last summer. No doubt due to lockdown plus the base game being free on MS Gamepass and PSN most of that time.
The PlayStations are by far the largest chunk, and their numbers by themselves were approaching the PC total before the RE chapter nuked us.
Those on Xbox like me are a very distant third, followed by our Switch & Windows cousins. Also apparently there is something called Stadia out there as well.
I had found some very rough figures from 2020 and posted them here in a thread somewhere I'll look for the link when I'm out of work.

And before anyone asks, yes I DO feel entitled to other people's cakes.

I mean this has been acknowledged as an issue as far back as March 2019 or earlier when they gave us this roadmap and said consoles would be optimised to run at 60fps, and look at the state we are in now in 2021, closer to 6fps than 60fps lol.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/49456/status-update-optimization
The immediate concern is to get the issues that arose with the Nemesis patch fixed and then carry out other optimisation on the rest of the game.
Its literally been years already and this thread is the result of nothing but steps bacward over the last 2 years since this elaborate Road to 60fps plan that they never talk about any more, or answer questions on.
That goal of 60fps minimum for all platforms is what I want to see happen, pretty please update us on the status of that.
If it's still coming give us a rough timeline. If you cannot do it, if you thoroughly looked into it and know now "nope cannot make it happen on Switch, PS4, Xbox1, or PC below these specs... "and tell us the reasons.
And that group of machines is by far the largest portion of the playerbase. Getting no answer either way imo is worse than a yes or no after two years of waiting.

By putting the patches that screwed up everything when it was working. It was fine before the resident evil patch.
Any other business that values its customers would have fixed it before worrying about other trivial things (ptb test, character skins, buffing/nerfing killers, etc.)
The game's performance was absolutely not fine before the RE chapter. That patch just made things worse for most and wreaked console. Both hotfixes afterward pretty much only helped PC.

Then that would confirm the SSD would work for your model like the original Xbox 1, the problem again lies in the hybrid it comes with.
Don't get it twisted though the problem lies on BHVR's shoulders and it is not for you to fix with your wallet, I was lucky enough to have an SSD lying about from my PC to try it with. The good news now is bhvr know what's causing all the issues and they appear to be working on it.
What I am saying is Pulsar also has an Xbox1x like mine, and had a SSD lying about and tried it on his, and found no improvement to the frames and such.

Someone bought a SSD the for the Xbox one and has had all stutters fixed and the frame rate is stable, as I'm a playstation user, what is the difference between original Xbox 1 and a 1x ?
It has a 1T memory hybrid SSD instead of the older HHD, is four times stronger than the regular Xbox1, and downloads like twice as fast if not more. Microsoft claimed it was the strongest of the proir gen machines, even a PS4 Pro.
