That is something, although I really wish they'd say what the plan is regarding 60 FPS.
This all day. An update regarding this goal would be greatly appreciated.

I feel the skill ceiling is higher for Blight on PC than the consoles. Can you become supremely good with him, yes over time of you put in the work.
But with micro-freezes, lag, fps dips n drops n dribbles, joystick deadzone, input delay all combining to rob ya of hits all day long, no amount of dedication can overcome all of that imo.
-
No way just imagine game performance on mid- to lower-end PC's and most of the consoles. Two Nemmys in the Police Station? Doc and Freddy at the same time? Put them indoors together??
Prolly melt all the Switch machines out there...

Does anyones game look too dark even with max brightness on tv etc.?
I can hardly see anything. Even things in front of me.
Although it seems to vary by the TV, I've seen most comments like this from those on Xbox1 mostly. I have a hard time seeing through the Deep Wound status myself and a few spots on indoor maps.
The PCrs who read these just "laugh in filters" I suppose, but it shows console needs more setting options as well.

@Gottlos said:
I definitely agree this is how it should work.
They could spawn them at the exit gates when you kill them instead of all at once at the end, thus not needing to melt your computer. There could also be a max number that could spawn.
It would be a much cooler moment for survivors and would still be a weak add-on, just a cool one.
While they were developing Nemmy they had an iri add-on that spawned in a third zombie, but three of them tanked game performance so badly they scrapped the add-on and changed it.
Supposing they use top-notch PC's during development, how do you think mid- and lower-end PC's would have handled the strain, let alone the various consoles?
-
Why not tie it into Corrupt? How about one less gen protected but all totems locked for the duration?

Thanks. Never played her much tho but I already have her.
Might give her a spin. Need some decent perks on her first.
Legion is not that bad freeze wise. Playing them atm.
Many run Whispers and STBFL on her. Last time I rolled her out I ran Corrupt/Discordance/Nurses/BBQ for points.

Which killers are freezing less frequently? Kinda felt like playing killer again after a long time. When I tier up as Myers my game freezes and survivors get distance so it doesn't feel that great.
Any killer that is not handicapped too much when using their power? I would guess trapper for example but not really a fan of him.
As far as my Piggy only the hiccup I notice is at the start of her dash there's lag as her meter fills. Aside from that just the normal triggers like applying Sloppy or if MYC activates, bloodlust kicking in, the usual suspects.

SWF is what ruins the balance of the game. There is no way to balance for matches where one side may or may not have Comms and be working together. If there were no SWFs then you could balance the game based on the play of the best solo q survivors and the best killer mains and it would be fair for both sides.
@Nephilis91 said:
Why not nerfing the swf? For example 1 item per 2 swf-people and for each more you have to take weaker addons:
2 in SWF: no reds; 3: no violet, 4: only yellow or brown
Also you can reduce the perks the can take or every perk can brought once per swf (so no 4 times BT, DS or Sprint-Perks).
I don't know why such a nerf or another sort of was not implemented in the last years. So often seen that good swf's destroy also the best killers.
The devs said long ago SWF was always intended but not ready for launch, and after feedback & noticing the huge amount of survs lobby-dodging to get their buds they quickly got it in.
For some reason they overlooked the possibility of voice comms in a game supposing the teams would not talk to each other. Imagine an online multiplayer team-based game without comms!
Last time they put out such stats (over two years ago) we learned about half of all survs are in at least a two-man SWF. With solo-q just so wonderful these days that number has to have increased since then. So no, SWF isn't going anywhere.
As far as debuffing groups for repeated perks and such, they have said many times they aren't interested in punishing anyone, so that's out too.

They also said they were putting 60 FPS on Xbox One and PS4.
This.
These devs set a goal of getting their game 60fps for each any every platform wayyyy back in March 2019. Silence on this ever since. Kinda still waiting.
I said this before but it's worth repeating: The absolute best thing they ever did is port their game on over to the consoles, and the absolutely worst thing they ever did is port their game on over to the consoles.

Because I have to be able to hear what is going on at home I can not wear headphones during gameplay. How important are they to playing well? Do they make a big difference in determining where other players are? Does it make game noises more accurate, like is the Huntress still super loud even though she is a mile away from you?
They make a huge difference especially for playing killer. Tracking a surv, in particular a hurt one, is much easier with your ears. It can make the difference in losing a surv in a good tile or not.
As for survivor I'd say it's slightly less critical but so helpful, be it heading GF's clothing rustle or any killer's footsteps for instance, or which direction they are coming from. And you may miss the distinct sound of a hex totem or the open hatch, or even that glyph for your challenge.

I'm on PC and it's not a great machine, a little old, but like I said, the other maps don't lag like that so I don't know.
My Xbox1x struggled mightily with all indoor maps performance wise, especially Lery's and RPD.
-
@TheGhostofZgor said:
I’m sorry to make another RPD thread and this isn’t a complaint about the size or the layout or anything like that. This is about how much lag I get on it, it’s unplayable for me, as killer or survivor. None of the other maps lag like this and it’s the worst in the main hall. Do others have this? Again I’m not complaining about the size or the fact it’s indoors or whatever, this is a purely technical problem.
(Honestly I can’t fairly make a judgment about size or layout anyway as I haven’t been able to have a normal match in this map)
It's been a laggy mess since it was re-enabled after launch, and only somewhat better with the patches following RE.
What platform ya on? The severity of the lag seems to also depend on the system used.

How's everyones games?
This is weird but even with freezes I am kinda having fun today playing survivor since I switched dh for sb. It kinda balances things for me a little bit and it doesn't freeze which is cool.
This is probably bad but maybe I am getting used to it now? Just adapting to the situation.
I am not giving bhvr any money since the re chapter tho. As long as I am on the platform on which the game runs so poorly I am not buying anything.
I don't usually run DH so I haven't had to adjust to not having it, but even I know how useful it is when it works and gives that little bit of distance in a chase.
What I don't appreciate is hearing Twitchers say things like "hope I get some console players so they can stop in front of me when they Dead Hard..." and the like.
Revives my wish for a console-only Crossplay option whenever we go past regular unfair and dip into grossly unfair. Never happening I know...

Increase the DC penalty if a survivor DCs during:
- A chase
- 90 seconds after being downed
- While being carried
- While being hooked
DCing during these actions can seriously affect the killer.
They cannot tell the difference between a crash/connection issue and an actual manual dc, so all are penalized the same.

While it's nice to have graphic settings it will only be a band aid fix to the performance issues. I think they should add the option but not use it as opportunity to push aside actually fixing the performance issues in the game.
Exactly this. Just as restarting every 3-5 matches is a bandaid to cover over the real problems. If we get this option, yay! But in the end it's just another quickie "fix" instead of going into the heart of the matter for a much more effective & far-reaching solution, which unfortunately takes time as well as effort.

@WretchedElk said:
What about all of the console crashes? Half of the player base would be banned after an hour.
This. When the RE chapter nuked the consoles and hurt everyone's performance the devs had to shut down the DC penalties the crashing was so bad. While the patches after that helped many there's still players crashing way too often, especially where the RPD map and Nemmy are concerned. Just look around the forums for posts about crash fustrations across several platforms.
If there was a magical way to tell true dc's from crash/connection problems, I'd be all for ramping up actual dc penalties, or tossing them into the salt mines to crack rocks for a few months.

Oh so it is those who are running a certain type of hard drive? That makes sense. I thought they were all basically the same type.
Some of our fiesty PS4 cousins experimented around and got noticeably better performance when they connected a SSD and ran the game from there. Pulsar tried the same idea with his Xbox1x (the absolute strongest of the proir gen consoles, I also have one) but sadly it had little effect, most likely due to this console already having a hybrid-SSD inside it.
One of the last patches forced all Switch machines to run this game on low graphics to improve their performance. The rest of all consoles are locked at Ultra, while PCrs can toggle their graphic settings at will.
Most of us firmly believe the lack of a thorough optimization when the game was ported over 2and the bizarre need for the game to load in each and every asset for every killer every match are at the root of our issues. Despite their age and wear our consoles are capable of running DBD just fine if it weren't for the coding.
I'll give you the same advice I always give our PC cousins: borrow a friend's PS4 or whatever and pick a killer. Let's say Doc or Freddy. Load into Lery's. Go to the center room. Let us know how it goes...

You aren't alone. My snoot is so snore from hits that uses to be near misses. The validation with the servers are likely to blame, causing what appears to be Huntress hatchet-size hitboxes from the killer pov.

I def still have issues from time to time. Had one the other night where if I hooked someone when a Gen finished (or at times for no reason) I'd get a small freeze. I also had a few hiccups during a match as Legion.
So far my issues have been:
-Midwich map consistently has performance issues
-Dead Hards can cause my game to freeze up, tho it's inconsistent
-Survivors running into me spazzing out can sometimes cause my game to hang-up/freeze as well.
Otherwise it's just seemingly random actions on maps that occasionally freeze/stutter etc during a match. Seen small bits of this on Yamaoka & Day Farm maps.
I had a new one tonight: on one of the azarovs the skill check for Overcharge sounded but did not show on-screen three times for me. Somehow by the Entity's good graces I hit one of them.
Otherwise the match had its normal hiccups, like the Demo's shred attack causing a game freeze, Sloppy lagging each and every time it was applied, the usual suspects.

I hadn't thought of this as a problem before until it happened to me just now, but I died to the Pig's reverse bear trap on RCPD because I only physically made it to two of the boxes in time without any interference from the killer whatsoever. Had the second box been the correct one, I would have barely lived.
I will admit I lost some time trying to find my way around and that should get better as I get to know the map, but even then it's so big I don't think it's possible to make it to all of the boxes in time. The Pig didn't have any addons either. I feel like the reverse bear trap should pressure you off gens, but not actually kill you just because have bad RNG, which isn't typically a problem. On this map though...
Anyone else experienced anything like this before? Any other interesting/frustrating RCPD stories?
The larger maps increase the likelihood of a head pop, and that's without add-ons to add an additional box to search or increase the search time or reduce the trap time. But in my experience it is way too often coming off with the first search, or def the second.
-
Game performance and optimization. The RE chapter came the closest yet to just killing off the prior gen consoles, and negatively impacted all platforms.
And the patches after it only partially fixed the issues, so right now performance is actually worse than pre-RE for almost everyone. How can any developer be ok with that?

Yasssssssss! My burning question is, what about that goal from March 2019 that they'd get all platforms running their game at 60fps minimum? Where we at with this? Abandoned? Soon? A couple months away? 2037?

Thank you for your words, and no I don't get too demoralised - I don't think I could do the job I do if that was the case. What's hard is that I'm the type that cares and I genuinely dislike seeing people struggling to play the game, I think the whole team feels that. If I could go and fix it myself I would - but I think that would probably cause even more issues and I'd delete the entire server or something, my tech skills are rather basic and this is way over my head. As you can tell, it's not a quick easy fix - it's a lot more involved than it appears :(
Appreciate the attention and words. I'm worried about how many consolers were pushed away by the game's performance with the RE chapter, and along side the anniversary too. Our numbers were good and growing fast, but now it feels like there's even less of us left. Xbox with Crossplay off is just terrible for queue times after dark, so when do play these days it is with the entire playerbase and the performance differences are absolutely glaring.
One PCer went out of their way through a mutual friend on a PS4 to ask how I can play at all freezing and teleporting around the map. I haven't even streamed DBD in months because the Xbox just cannot handle it anymore with this game. Plus sadly it is just this game.
And bless you @MandyTalk but you are the only one talking to us at all about any of this, and that alone adds to the fustration. Not what you have said, but what so many others have not said.

I think you have me confused for someone else. This is the first time I have mentioned purchasing a PC.
That being said if someone isn't going to take the steps they need to troubleshoot their console then they have no one but themselves to blame for issue they are having. As several have mentioned before the game stopping issues that are being complained about are not being experienced by everyone. That in and of itself decreases the likely hood that it is the game.
Those coming to the forums/joining a "90 page thread" comprised of posts erroneously pointing their fingers at the game instead of doing what they can do to address the problems with their system have no one to blame except themselves.
Oh and by the way just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean I am trolling. I'll say it again. If you would take the time to troubleshoot your system then could potentially be like the many others not having these issues.
I am curious what troubleshooting could we do? I am aware of how to clear the system cache on my Xbox (apparently it's unplug everything and count to 60) and like two internal checks for internet connection (not speed or stability, just a working connection). Mine is still under warranty so I won't be opening it up.
Google and YouTube results pretty much only talk about internet connections as well. What else is there?

Modding is almost always a perk of having the PC version of any game. But it's a bummer that they really broke the console versions with the RE chapter. DBD really does not seem so complex to warrant the compatibility issues it has.
It isn't that complex. If the game didn't have to load every asset for every killer in each match it would run better on everything...

Exhausted on the ground is something people say when they use Dead Hard and get downed mid-dash. It's a result of the poor server stability, not your mistake or the killer waiting.
This is correct, the servers and/or latency cause the down not any skill or lack there of, in either side.
Many will argue it should only be used for distance, but it's also hard to agrue that using it to say dodge a hatchet or spear, not to mention when the killer is all up in your bunghole, is a dubious bet at best these days.
-
@Apollos said:
At its core, DBD is a fun concept but a deeply flawed game.
Sure we enjoy the gameplay, but it tends to be the same thing over and over and over. Mix in a bored and frustrated player base and every patch finding some way to introduce a host of new bugs and suddenly it's not so fun to play anymore.
To compensate for that, we get licenses so we can play characters we already know and love and cosmetics so we can have a fashion show and customize characters to our liking. Modding added an extra level of excitement that people hadn't felt for a long time, which is unfortunately no more.
Essentially, the game is currently too weak to stand on its own two legs without enough help to keep players interested. If licenses are lost and cosmetics dry up, players leave.
Us consolers didn't even get to mess around with mods. The devs would have had to embrace it and add support, and with their full plates already I couldn't see that happening though.

My game freezes for like 3-4 seconds, yersterday I even opened it and cleaned all my gpu and memory contacts, cleaned with isopropili alcohol and all that #########, still went in a game and my first match it freezed again.
This is horrible when playing as Killer, but gives advantage when playing as Survivor, because when your screen freezes, the server will keep running the same input to the other players, so If you were running when it freezes, for other players, your character will just keep running straight to a rock or some wall and then suddenly teleports back when you un-freeze.
I want to again thank our PC cousins for adding their experiences here, and helping us show exactly how widespread these issues are.
To the devs; one of your stated goals was to have one community of players of your game. Here is that community asking, begging, pleading for you to hear us and to help us.
This thread was born out of fustration with the performance of the game we love & the lack of communication about those issues. Both are unfortunately quite prolonged now.
Talk to us. Let us help you. We know you cannot even begin to address many of these issues until they can be reproduced in-house. Lots here have the ability to record & edit their gameplay. Tell us what is needed, and watch as support from this side of things pour in.
We love your game so much, and do not wish it to go away at all. We do wish to be able to play it the way you pain-stakingly & lovingly crafted it however.
I am lothe to do this, but @MandyTalk you've been the closest to a go-between we've had here. Could you please pass along these sentiments. I doubt I'm the only one here who feels this way. Ty
