I truly believe each and every surv shutters when a Nurse brings them to that map...

They need to make smaller less pallet dense maps so that m1 killers can actually win chases without losing 3 gens or failing that give survivors another objective like fetching generator parts out chests or something.
If they do that to every map then Blight and Nurse & Spirit in good hands get even stronger

So in other words.. you don't want to have any ranked league under any circumstances because you don't want it to be too competitive. Also you don't like restrictions = bans of pers nor killer.
The ideal "ranked" area for this game would somehow be a mix of just the better players sweating with each other, bringing whatever they want.
Since the game's design tends to fall apart when the efficients duke it out, much work would be needed on maps in particular, as well as perks and add-ons. We'd also need a way to keep the casuals from the sweats, and not hurt queue times either.
Seems like too much of a miracle to get all that going. Prolly have to wait for DBD2, if that ever happens.

So what you are actually saying is that you love my idea but would like to nerf Blight to correspond other Killers? Give Vote Up then.
I do not like your idea. It pushes the game towards some crazy competitive mode that I don't want at all. And while some of Blight's add-ons do need tweaking, his basekit seems fine to me.
Players should be able to run what you like, in both roles. There's no doubt the devs feel the same as well. Your limitations are some attempt to "balance" the game in a harsh restrictive way imo.
They do not primarily look to the most efficient sweaty players when considering changes. This should be obvious to all, and disagreeing with that approach is another thread entirely.

I don't find it pointless. In your words killers pick only those 3 characters. That is horrificly bad. So banning them would bring other killers to the game.
But also If everybody is afraid of those 3 killers than obviously killers need balance.
Other option is to have "party leader" who would ban only 1 killer. Or limit bans to 2 killers in sum.
Doesn't matter. Even if you limit the ban a killer feature to two, or just one, then most likely Blights will never get a match ever again.

The killers are all physically faster than the survs. Exhaustion perks give a very temporary amount of distance while in chase, typically just once per chase as well. As pointed out bloodlust is still a thing, and no one wants to go back to long stealthy games either.
If these perks are such a common problem for you, Fearmongerer should help.
-
Come on I suck as killer on Xbox and even my sorry ass doesn't get spun any more.
Now the aim-dressing messing up and making me instead hit trees, rocks, walls, the thinnest of air. Yeah, that's a thing and should be fixed.
Controller options should just be a basic feature in the first place. The option to use K&M has also been asked for many times over the years. Sadly they have stated lots of times they have no plans to add it.

Hello. I’m keep geeting kicked out of the game for no reason and get a dc penalty. At that moment, i was just opening a chest, when my game bugged and this happened. it’s because “you lost your internet connection” but my wifi was working. After that i had a 48h dc ban, and before that the connection was lost too. And this happened AGAIN when i tried to play dbd right after the 48h ban(!). it was my first game and the dc happened again, and it’s not even an internet issue, i was playing other online games and it never happened, it just happens in dbd. Noticed it happens after the update. Now i have 72 hours banned. What should I do with this?
DBD is not the most stable of online multiplayer games, and anyone brave enough to run it over Wi-Fi risks these connection issues.
Back when I streamed this game from my Xbox1x I would occasionally get these same disconnects. The stream stayed up, if I was in a chat party that too was not interrupted, so my Internet is not die just then. This is with a wired connection over very good Internet service.
I never got more than a five minute penalty myself, as I would reset everything when I would get tossed out. This seemed to help some.
For you to amass 48 hours or more in penalties this must happen to you quite often. If you can run a wired connection, and if not DBD might not be for you right now sadly.

Sorry for the overly dramatic title but it’s something to reel y’all in 😂. What I mean is to reduce all of the killers terror radius.
The reason for this change is to make the game a little more scarier by being able to surprise survivors, making them more worry of their environment. What makes ghost face and myers so terrifying to go against is that you never really know where they are and have to constantly watch a certain area to prepare to run away when they are super close by.
Now I don’t mean to make killer with a terror radius of 32 meters to go all the way to 4 meters but to go down to half like 16 meters will make it better to come surprise survivors.
With how it’s more easier now to detect how close a killer is with the heart system, killers barely get anymore chances to get a first hit on survivors before they easy rush to a safe pallet and run you the whole entire game with ease.
This even goes for ranged killers because they already have a lullaby that gives them away before you have a terror radius and with most players need to be closed ranged to even be able to hit a survivor.
With this change yes there would need to be changes to certain perks that work only within a terror radius but these can be easily fixed with just a couple of number changes.
All comments are appreciated negative or positive!
All killers down to 16m? With M&A equipped down to 8m? Because all would run that as well with this.
Nope nope nope.

With the recent patch Wraith is much more viable now, and very playable on console. The hit & run playstyle is doable again now, and he excels at it. Trapper is slightly buffed if you run his disarm-injure add-on, but well he is still Trapper. I've seen very good Blights on console, however they are somewhat inconsistent and will take huge amounts of practice to "git gud" with. I have yet to see a very good console nurse. The other killers you mention play pretty much the same regardless of platform.
The only killers that are less effective on console are the ranged killers in general, with Trickster being the absolute biggest offender. All killers on console suffer from the fps drops and micro-freezes that are another feature of DBD, and the limitations of the controller itself. It is less of a problem when playing surv.

Based on Steam charts, the player count is at its lowest point in over three years (with the exception of April 2022 when it dropped slightly below 30K). Yes I know Steam charts only shows PC on Steam, but there is no reason to believe the trend is different for other platforms.
Scott Jund had an interesting video recently where he talked about how opening up the game for modding would be a good way to increase interest in the game. I agree, but I also see a few big problems with that: 1) it’s a PvP game and with modding it opens up the door for easy cheating; and 2) BHVR might lose a lot of revenue from new chapters and cosmetics; 3) license issues for non-original characters
I think that opening up the game to modding would be incredibly fun, but I also don’t think it’s going to happen until BHVR basically “abandons” the game and stops making new chapters (or maybe ever if they are not willing to open up the game for modding).
A few questions for the forum: 1) when do you think BHVR will “abandon” the game; 2) could BHVR open up the game for modding now while avoiding the potential major issues?; and 3) if not, are there any other good ways to bring in a large number of new (or former) players without opening up the game to modding?
The others have brought up very good points as to why this isn't likely to happen, with the licensing issue being the biggest obstacle.
To all that I would add such a mode wouldn't be available to the consoles without massive continuous support from the devs, if it is at all possible, which I highly doubt. I just don't see them spending resources like that for a mode which the vast majority of the playerbase cannot use anyways.

240$ is absolutely insane for an adapter.
the excuse that it would take too much time is crazy. they have many developers and I doubt it would take more than a couple days to implement. if they can have both kb&m and controller support on PC then why can't console have both too?
it's really a disadvantage because on controller it is much worse and harder to control. take blight for example, doing flicks with his rushes demands that I crank my sensitivity all the way up just to have a chance to use his power in high level play. or flashlight saves; on survivor some people often miss it because they have to crank their sens up for things like 360s, and on killer, kb&m players can just throw their mouse across the mouse pad and evade the save but on controller we only have so much camera speed.
I do not disagree. Been asked for many times over the years. It makes killers like Trickster absolutely nightmarish to play.
When speaking about this issue our PC cousins often say "then just get a PC" which is not a viable solution while Cross Progression is unavailable for Xbox and PlayStation.
Obviously it isn't anywhere near a priority.

Lobby backfilling is wrecking the MMR system? How so? I have never heard of that before.
Their system has one shot at a fair-ish match, based on MMR and available players. When one player (killer or surv) dodges the lobby, it tends to widen the "acceptable" MMR in favor of queue times.
This is exactly how rookie killers notoriously get a veteran SWF and are destroyed brutally, for instance. Because the SWF has been dodged repeatedly & waiting for a while, the system throws them at the next available killer, regardless of MMR.
Another example is a surv leaves a lobby for whatever reason. Now a solo is backfilled in, which may lead to even more dodging in itself, and again queue times become prioritized over MMR if enough time passes. An on it goes.
We actually are doing it to ourselves. Killers dodge for lots of reasons, and so do survs. But we know it tosses matchmaking out the window, and we do it anyway.
Plus in previous Q&A's the community expressed it's preference for queue speeds over quality matches. Loudly in fact.

This is the only larger PVP game I play where quickplay is the only option. There's no option for more competitive players to play with like-minded players in DbD outside of pre-made groups. It's not fun when teammates are running after the killer with a flashlight at 5 gens, going down instantly because they're trying to meme, looting chests for a tome challenge, etc. It's a bit unfair to expect a portion of the playerbase to go out of their way to make a group if they want to consistently enjoy a game mode. Beyond that, there's nothing to really play for if you're experienced and care about results. Rank 1 doesn't mean anything when you've been playing for years. There's zero sense of player skill progression as a player.
A competitive mode would obviously not be perfect. There are trolls in every game that I've ever played, and I've been playing online games for 20+ years at this point. But it would be better than what we have IMO and give players options. The common refrain is that it would split the playerbase, but you also have the potential to actually grow the playerbase by attracting players who otherwise wouldn't care about DbD. I personally never play unranked/quickplay in games. DbD is the exception for me, and it's not by choice.
For this to work, we would need a solid way to keep sweats in both roles out of the casual mode, where they'd just be looking to dunk on people, and also not hurt queue times in the process. That would be the magical formula imo. The honor system wouldn't work here; have you met us? 😑
But with lobby dodging and the resultant backfilling already wreaking the matchmaking right now, these modes would make it far worse.
I am also dubious the game has the numbers to support split queues.

I'd imagine you're on Xbox like me. If so, their Anonymous Mode cannot hide your name from others also on Xbox. This is due to the platform's restrictions, not anything the devs have control over.
The PlayStations don't have those restrictions.
-
If they got rid of these offerings several killer builds would become extinct, most notably shytt-yourself Myers, as they're entirely map-dependant to even work.
Imo it's better to rework maps into something resembling fair for both roles than ditch the offerings. Then they wouldn't convey any advantages at all and just be fun preference.

There are more.
If PyramidHead is holding M2 and he found a demo portal/hag trap/trapper trap how do it works.
What if wesker and legion jump a window at ssme time.
Wesker M2 a nemesis zombie, what happens?
A zombie walk into a trapper trap.
Bhvr already said they cant hold more than 2 zombies, are they going to hold 4 if double nemesis?
Can 2 demogorgon share portals?
What if dredge jump into a loker and Trickster/Huntress reload?
And a big etc... Of "what ifs" that bhvr could not fix or be ready. Too much coding and right now there are bugs not fixed for years.
This sums it up nicely. There's just no way their coding could handle another killer and all of their assets. If they cannot handle more than two zombies, neither could it handle more guards from the Knight or two Dredge husks. Imagine trying to run any of this on lower-end PC's, or the older consoles, especially the Switch.

I'm on Xbox and I love playing this game but I would prefer to be on keyboard and mouse when I play. I can't afford a good enough setup to run this game and I don't think it would be that much of a hassle to implement as it is just accepting a keyboard and mouse as an input.
They know this is wanted, however they've said in several past Q&A's they have no plans to add it.
The reasons given were it would take too much time, would be way too much work, and require an UI update. All that admittedly was a long time ago, so dunno how much is still true.
There's an adapter available for about $240 USD that works for the PlayStations but sadly not for the Xbox machines.

Scott Jund just posted a video today and he brought up the idea of future-proofing the game with community servers.
That is such an amazing idea and would absolutely bring a ton of players back to the game. The community would be able to do and see the things they want to, without the devs having to do anything outside of just adding this option. I doubt this would hurt queue times for the normal game either because players would be coming back and games like TF2 have no problems with queue times. More players = more money and they lose nothing from it. This gives the game infinite longevity as well.
Scott also brings up a fantastic point in saying that when you have a few bad games in a row, instead of just getting off you now have the option of doing something else.
He brought up some of the potential things that could come from custom servers. Billy surfing, Huntress 1v1s, 2v8, etc.
Sounds like an amazing idea and this is something I would bet most of the community wants.
Is this something the consoles would have access to?

Backfilling most likely. Those survs prolly were dodged 5-7 times before the matchmaking widened considerably favoring queue times.
So thank both the system for prioritizing queue times (we asked for that actually) AND fellow killers with much more experience either exercising their protest at a group of 100's, or seeking a perceived easier game. Sad that we are doing it to ourselves.
I too run Piggy on console, and I think you did pretty well considering.

I get it takes more effort to see if the person did wrong. But it literally has exactly the same effect as disconnecting and should be treated as such. It's technically sabotaging your team and refusing to participate in normal gameplay.
I'm sick of seeing first down surv rush themselves onto 2nd hook phase then miss the skill checks to kill themselves. Just had a game where a player did this, I unhooked them then they prevented me from healing them by constantly moving. They didn't even leave the hook, just moved to prevent me healing and eventually ran to the killer. One surv dead in the first 3 minutes there is no way survs can win.
This isn't just inconsiderate to the team but techincally against rules as written, not engaging with normal gameplay and technically working with the killer, because it provides them with a free kill and a huge game advantage. I don't understand why people load onto the game and simply nope out at the first inconvenience.
I get it late game if the game is clearly unwinnable but there is no legitimate reason to just throw yourself on hook in the first 3-5 minutes of a game. It's just exactly the same as DCing just with an extra step or two to avoid the DC penalty.
How would they track this? By others reporting? Few go through all the steps in the awful reporting system. Almost nobody records each of their games. I'm not even sure how to on my Xbox. And all the accused would have to say is "I had a real life emergency and had to go." or something similar.

Maybe BHVR should start balancing around SWF then, so playing in a SWF isn’t so inherently advantageous.
From what I have seen of their changes over the past year and a half or so, their plan seems to be to get solos as close to SWF gameplay as possible, and presumably rebalance most of the killers around that when satisfied. So basically each trial becomes SWF-ish.
Like everyone else, it often feels like these steps take forever, and patience runs low. We'll have to wait and see if it is all worth it.
-
@H2H said:
For real though, they need to show who is in a SWF in the pre-game lobby. "Oh but SWFs will get dodged," you say. Yes they will, and that's fine. Per BHVR's own stats, being in a SWF gives a real, confirmed advantage. And yet the game is not balanced around SWF. It's unfair that killers may have to play at a distinct disadvantage and have no say in the matter.
If people want to play against that, that's their choice. But it should also be a valid choice to say "no thanks, I don't want to play a game that's inherently unfair from the get-go."
The last time they put out stats about the playerbase way back in 2019, they showed half of all survs in at least a two-man. With solo-queue just so delightful since then I have to believe to those numbers must have increased.
Showing SWF in pre-game would lead to lobby dodging on a truly epic scale, completely compromising matchmaking and destroying queue times.
It would be better to address any issues with SWF (imagined & real) with changes that won't kill the matchmaking.

I don't play on console but i hear it's rough, agreed they should fix that
On console his recoil is severe as well as inconsistent & unpredictable. Imagine a small gremlin surv on each shoulder running buffed Boil Over, but without any pattern at all.
With a controller strafing with him is darn near impossible, making him even less effective in chase. Now throw in the common micro-freezes & frame drops and you're missing lots of throws, even with the ricochet effect.

If you make tunneling unviable you either make the game unplayable at high mmr or you either change dbd to its core.I'm talkling insane buff perks,on top of further basekit changes.Right now spreading hooks does nothing as killer, the only reason killing someone is impactful is because in a 1 v 3 you can snowball, generate enough pressure to have no one on gens(1 hooked, one in chase, one going for unhook + heal)on top of allowing you to camp for a 2k if things go south.
They do not make changes with "high MMR" or whatever label for most efficient play you like, in mind. They focus on the middling grouping of players with a thoughtful glance at newbies.
