They did enough for their team. They shouldn't also escape on top of it!

    Kill the cheater!

A 5-gen chase should never happen fam, break off chase and look for the weaker survs to hunt. Kinda like a ticking clock in your head,. 40-seconds go by, then one minute, and then the alarm sounds and you break off of that surv.

I'm suprised at least on XSX and PS5 there's still no option to chose graphic / performance mode.

Not even asking for 120fps, but just STABLE 60fps at 1080p and 4k should be standard in 2023.

It even says "optimized for Xbox Series X|S", and i don't really see it.

You don't see it, nor feel it, cause it ain't there fam

    Depends on the day.

You can get some awful fps drops on newer maps. Haddonfield, Garden of Pain and RPD come to mind.

I like how we've all pretty much reconciled calling that map Garden of Pain now.

  • That's what I meant by next gen, sorry. Capped at 60 fps on PS5 and both Xbox Series machines as far as I know. And I cannot call it a steady 30-60 frames either, depending on the map, killer powers, some other known frame drop triggers.

There's somethings about how this game, and only this game, is coded that the consoles have tremendous difficulty digesting. Pour one out for our Switch cousins, they get the worst end of that stick too.

You're right but since OP is talking about DLSS they're talking about Pc. Also doesn't the game run at 120 on current gen consoles?

It's locked at 60 on next gen I believe, and my Xbox1 often went into the teens in the middle room of Lery's

  • @Aceislife said:

You can uncap fps in the game files. You can also tweak texture qualities.

    Not on console.

I'm sure they do listen to their community. But they can't just go off the opinions of forum users alone. We're a very and I mean very small fraction of the entire playerbase among all platforms.

I wish more would take this to heart. As far as I can tell most of the posters here are veteran players, majority of which play primarily killer and on PC. This is a very specific portion of the overall playerbase, when the devs have to take into consideration all players of all skill levels, and like 7 or 8 different platforms, all with their own point of views & concerns.

This is a good way to max out on points but none of them mean anything in terms of emblems/pips.

To op - I'm pretty sure you can never pip or safety in iri ranks against an afk killer. You'll always depip.

So if it's a Wraith for instance everyone is de-pipping. That's cray

  • @Skill_issue said:

why are we punished with teams way above or below our skill level? i will gladly wait 5 to 10 minutes for a match with equally skilled players instead of being fed to a p50 to p100 swf group already queued up.

i am already annoyed that my mmr doesnt deteriorate after having 4 teams back to back yesterday night i played legion, and wraith and got absolutely schooled with bully squad tactics.

How is that fun for any player trying to get better that doesnt lobby dodge?

It's the lobby dodging combined with preferring shorter queue times over fair-ish matches.

I still don’t get why killers need a perk for this.

Why can’t killers just raise their other, non-knife wielding arm or hand over their eyes and just suffer with a movement penalty?

There are spare buttons on consoles not assigned to actions I’m pretty sure (like square or triangle on PS) and plenty of available keys on PC.

    Just a thought!

Their non-knife wielding arm? You mean the arm holding the surv while carrying them? So they drop the surv instead, who scampers off, just to block the blinding? Either way the surv is freed.

While they were developing Nemmy they tried running a third Zom Zom as an iri add-on. It tanked game performance so bad on their (supposedly) badass PC's they scrapped the idea and changed the add-on.

If they couldn't run just an additional Zombie acceptably, imagine another killer with all their assets? Think of the game performance on the consoles and lower-end PC's, especially our Switch cousins.

We're not doing it to ourselves, BHVR made the choice to have this appalling backfill system, it's not up to the players to work around a bad system.

We are doing to ourselves because we know it will happen when we dodge. They need to look into the reasons why dodging lobbies occurs in the first place, but that's a separate thread entirely.

Until their system is changed in a big way, the only other thing they could do is be ok with ten to twenty minute queues to get it right. Good luck getting everyone on board for that.

  • @Halloulle said:

I never realised just how much of an impact this has until recently. I knew it happened and I knew it had some impact - but boy did I undererstimate how often it happens and how big the impact is. Frankly, I'm shocked.

The context: I usually dump all my points into one character but hardly play them. On the regular I play characters that are P5-15. Mostly because the people I play with have a strong aversion to bringing high prestige characters and I don't want to be the odd one out. Now, I just played with some other people, friends of a friend, and they didn't hesitate to bring their P100 and P80-something characters, so friend and I also brought our P70-ish characters. And for the ten or so games we played we got dodged in every lobby - multiple times. Every time at least two killers dodged - but usually it was three or four. One time we actually just re-q-ed after the fifth killer dodged. At that point it was really just a little experiment to see what would happen, otherwise we would've just gone back to low prestige characters.

And what did happen? Almost always we eventually got matched with baby killers, or at least people new to that killer - or that's how I interpret the combination of how they run tiles, use the killer's power (or don't, for that matter) and their having perks at level one or two.

This is immensly unfair and should not be a thing. - In that case, not so much for us but the killers we eventually get matched with. Ideally, this would simply not happen; when a lobby gets dodged matchmaking starts at the beginning again and doesn't just throw the first available player in. But that is apparently not part of how matchmaking is designed (otherwise I assume it would long have happened since how it is now kinda defeats the point of mmr-based matchmaking). The next best thing is to just hide Prestige in the pre-match lobby.

[On a side note; I play a lot of swf with my friends and most of them have public profiles, so killers who check profiles pretty much always know we're swf --- and on average we get dodged maybe two or three times per ten lobbies.]

I've been preaching this on several threads for a while now, but it gets little traction. We are indeed doing it to ourselves, knowing that in an effort to avoid perceived "harder" or "unfair" matching we are likely throwing a newby killer to the wolves. Be it a protest of SWF or the prestige system or too many tool boxes or whatever, it does end up being selfish behavior in the end.

All the dodging becomes a nightmare for those killers, and worsens an already rough new player experience big time. Hiding prestiges either to post-game or even completely would help dodging for that reason, but not curb it in general. And in the past I've been guilty of dodging lobbies too, even though I cannot check profiles and such, until I realized the impact on matchmaking.

In a game where fictional characters place you onto a meathook to sacrifice your abstract emotions to an omniscient omnipotent Entity in an ever-changing game of life and death, set in a place where a chainsaw wound can be healed by a minor back rub and where Legion, Trapper, and Hag all share the same level of physical strength, in a place where Jeff, Bill, David, and Meg all run at 4m/s (considering the average is 3.5m/s), where there is a eugenicist Nurse who can teleport, a writhing mass of limbs created by a cult (who can also teleport), a narcissistic doctor with lightning imbued into his heart, and realistically a victim with the ability to turn invisible by ringing a bell, you're after realism?

An eight foot 400lb killer stopped cold by a crouching bodyblocking 98lb twig of a man Dwight. This alone should clue anyone in to 'realism" in this game.

which is just dumb that they can repair gens at the same speed while holding their gaping wound closed

What if being smashed over the head with a pallet made killers slower, or swing their weapon less quickly, even for just a few seconds? Makes sense in reality, even more so for smaller killers like Legion or my beloved Piggy, but less so for hulking monsters like Trapper or Oni.

However realism has nothing to do with DBD in these matters.

  • @Wexton said:

This post is gonna be a short one, I think they're stupid. Everybody shouldn't be sent to a map because one person wants to play on it, that's dumb. I love getting sent to the same map multiple times in a row because somebody brought the same offering, such good design behaviour.

Now if I were to change them, I'd either flat out remove them, or I'd make them to where they'd decrease your chances of going to a certain map. Not by much, but enough to make a slight difference. I'd rather just remove them though tbh.

If maps were a bit more balanced, the offerings would just be player preference, and not conveying an advantage either way.

Also several killer builds are absolutely map dependent. That too would be hard to change.

Since then I've had two insta-downing and insta-hooking Mikey's and one unlimited UB & Ista-Heal Feng. Anything else ever was just suspicious, but plausible. Dunno if it was simple luck or not, but that was it for hacking in my games.

  • @Nazzzak said:

Their SBMM made me laugh today. I'm in low MMR hell atm as I just started survivor from scratch on the PS5. I got matched with 3 very new players in one game, which is fine and expected. They were missing skill checks new. The Huntress we got matched against though was hitting people from across the map lol then the very next game, I got matched with 3 experienced survivors who ran circles around the obvious baby killer. I don't even know anymore lmao

That second match is most likely three survs who had been dodged a couple of times. When that happens the "acceptable" MMR gap widens badly or is outright ignored, in favor of faster queue times.

Can anyone help me out a bit in regards to upgrading from a PS4 disc to a PS5 digital?

I've had the PS4 disc since year 2 of dbd, I play weekly, mostly at weekends and I've spent a good number of hours on it, so I don't wanna lose any perks/progression if upgrading to the PS5 edition.

I'm aware that the disc to disc upgrade is pretty simple, but I'm not sure how to go about disc to digital if that's even possible? Is account binding an option, do I have to repurchase dbd online? It's genuinely influencing which console to purchase, but I'm able to get a digital one for a good price however I need dbd in my life 😅

Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

I'm not 100% sure, but you might have to get the digital PS4 version and run that, then upgrade that to the PS5 version. You'll lose all troph's but I think the rest of your progress should be there.

  • Went against a Bubba a while back that camped each and every hook until they either entered second stage or died if hooked again. When asked they said they didn't like chases, only wanted enough Bloodpoints to replace any add-ons used, and remain at their current MMR. I then asked if they enjoy stuff like that when they play surv, and the response was they have never played as a surv, not even for daylies.

So I'm pretty sure what number of hooks they strive for. They were a fellow console killer and we found each other three more times over the years, with them playing thier style every time.

  • Bet that was the case. Or maybe too many characters long.

It's an old mechanic and "Fine" in the sense that the killer should be able to play around it.

However, it is terrible game design because it can lead to situations where survivors can effectively hold the game hostage by hiding in a corner. Had a game where i hooked someone and lost the hook, and the 2 survivors left ran to a corner of the map and it was physically impossible for me to down and hook them. So my only choice was to down them and wait for the bleed out timer but, oh wait, they both were running no mither. So the game lasted 30 minutes....

I always pray those running No Mither are just doing a challenge/daily/adepts whatever. If it's a dedicated build around it, then yeah It can lead to games like you describe which shouldn't happen.

It doesn't occur often enough to warrant perk changes imo, but I agree those builds are just to prolong trials out but not likely winning. Now looking at hook spawns and map design to mitigate it, absolutely.

As i said above....by saying nobody will play vs SWF is admitting swf is a problem and OP. Just nerf swf. Thats it.

They will not nurf SWF, no debuffs or perk limitations or any of those crazy tourney rules. They just won't. They will look over the kill rates due to the recent changes, then likely make a few more changes, and then finally adjust most of the killer roster one by one. Based on their changes to date, I see this as their plan.

  • @Skill_issue said:

I never understood why a killer is punished for completing their objective and it leaves them open to unhookable situations on bad hook placement maps like midwich.

It would help with the slugging situation since survivors still dont get a way to bleed out faster than waiting for 4 minutes on the ground. Vital gameplay indeed.

Primarily lore related. Also the challenge created by the hook deadzone I suppose. This is one of the oldest game mechanics left unchanged, and many do call it outdated. Personally I just work around it.

  • @Anglosaxon said:

To the team I played against tonight on the RE map. I would have messaged you but you are on PC and was unable to, hope you read these forums.

You were playing against Trimixed as the killer, I camped a couple of you towards the end, that was wrong of me to do so but I did. Reason why I had never seen or heard of boil over before, I tried four times to hook one player and was unable to, every time I got near the hook it was like a magnet pushing me away. Yes I did think something was off not good to think that but that is what I did.

If you do read this I apologise for camping a downed player at the end just to get a kill.

I rarely see threads, so good on you. I assume you're a fellow console killer, and if so I also know the joys of playing on controller.

Boil Over has always been a pain to deal with on console. They claim they fooled around with its interaction with our controls during it's last update.

Did those survs bring you to RPD? That map is notorious for Boil Over builds making things worse there.

Some would argue tunneling and camping etc. are optimal play, others necessary, and others cruelty. But the bottom line is play how you want, within the actual rules of course. There are no other rulebooks that apply.

Realistically, we probably aren't getting it. Game is too big to optimize now, imo. They'd probably need to re-do a lot of the game from the ground-up.

Still pisses me off how so many of us consolers poured hugh amounts of time and effort into that uber-thread, but in the end accomplished precious little tangible in the way of actual results.

But something else must be said:

More than anyone else, you were the driving force behind that effort and I greatly appreciate you for trying so long and so hard for a righteous cause. Ty.

So many responses to the new chapter (applies to all chapters really) seem to come down to don't like it, don't buy it and that's fine and all for those who can actually test the new killer (ptb pc users) to see if they are someone they'd like to play but for us console users that's not the case.

Sure we could go watch some streamers play test them but again, those are pc users. It's well known some killers handling doesn't translate well to console from pc, and even then just because you may like M1 killers doesn't mean you'll like all M1 killers, for instance I love Wraith but not Sadako. Both M1 at core yet different enough to matter.

Splinters used to be a thing but no longer are, I understand we can't get a ptb on console and that ptb is mainly for testing/bugs, still though pc has a try before you buy with the ptb. So don't like it don't buy it doesn't carry that much weight in regards to playing...cosmetics sure, but not gameplay.

Maybe one day in bots only, us console users can try the killer before a purchase as well.

I feel your sentiment, and we'd have to add those Epic gamers to our list as well, if any of those accounts are legit. As far as I know just Steam users have access to PTBs. Everything they do apparently flows through Steam.

I also find it fustrating all of the Fog Whisperers are on PC, us consolers cannot even apply. It makes little sense to me the largest portion of the playerbase by far has so limited representation.

  • @ReginaldVonBartlesby said:

Title pretty much says it all.

Survs bodyblocking the killer for other survs to protect them is perfectly ok, and is even tied directly into several perks, scoring events, and challenges. I get this can be fustrating when the gates are powered or open, however enough survs still alive and actively using teamwork should be expected at those times.

As others have said, the killer pinning a surv in for any lengthy amount of time is not cool and I believe reportable, due to the killer having the option to smack them and the surv loses collision, able to play again.

I don't know where the mentality comes from, but somehow people act like the killer lost the game if it's a 4k, but 3 gens got done.

The funnest games for me were the closest, like where the last surv was downed with only one gen left. If this was accomplished without a hard tunnel I bet the survs enjoyed their game as well.

The problem is they don't get those 10k hour killers, after a few dodges they are given the next available killer who only has 200hrs. You might end up with an easier match, while they are thrown to the wolves because of the dodging. Not fair either way

Just go straight from search match to a match. Sucks that killers won't be able to see items anymore but overall the game would be way healthier

    I agree with this

  • I just wish all the dodging didn't end up borking the matchmaking so badly. We all know they prioritize lobby time over MMR quality. We all know the system just grabs the next available killer once a certain timeframe passes. And we all know those backfills usually result in a newby killer being rolled by veteran survs.

We are actively doing it to ourselves, knowing it'll mess up matchmaking and lead to horrible new player experiences. And we do it anyway, to benefit ourselves and/or protest other aspects of the game.

When its dropp of connection ofc its should not be pusnihable. Not too much ofc. But when you press "Leave" or "Alt+F4" button, then punishment should be tremendously impactful to that weakling. And its easily recognisable if someone press button in game or if its just disconnection. And most of the time they are clipping in one place and more. Even when you do a programm to recognize it, whichis easy to programm even with basic programming skills, and then its simple to give bans or time penalization. DC is too much impactfull to not care about it as devs displays.

They claim that their system cannot differentiate between connection issues and someone purposely leaving the match. So they penalize them all the same.

  • @Dbdfan398 said:

    1. Theyre out of ideas, and genuinely dont know what to do around the current parameters of the game. Problem is the solution to this is entirely new game modes and goals, then you can base the killers / survivors around that. Its like they can only design killers around letters a and b, and the way the games designed it doesnt allow them to consider the rest of the alphabet
    2. This is going to be a MASSIVE / awesome anniversary event and theyre saving the big load for that.

I wonder if the game was next gen only and pcs ( so ssds only ) if the game could have new features and modes they cant do on a HDD. Imagine if for example the SSD allowed freddy to have a true dream world. Or a killer that makes each survivor see a different map / version of the map

My last gen Xbox1 came with a SSD, and they still couldn't get the frames to 60fps minimum. What makes you think their now 7yr old iffy coding could handle any of that. They couldn't even add a third Zom Zom for Nemmy without it tanking game performance on their own (presumably) bad-ass development PC's.

I think any of that would need a fresh coding, and that means DBD2.

After years in this game I´ve never met something like disconnection. I had some errors in menu where I had to restart the game, but never in the match.

I've lagged out many times over the 1500hrs or so I've played DBD. When I used to stream this game on my Xbox1 I'd be in a match, often with a SWF, and just get booted from the game. The party chat and vod wouldn't be interrupted, but I'm gone from the trial, so it was a connection issue not internet.

This happens less often on my Series X but persists, and to my friends as well. Might be a console thing mainly, that I do not know. One of our SWF buds has it happen to them from time to time, and they're not even on comms with us. You just lag out.

The point of the hud was to bring solo closer to swf - if you remove that it just becomes another solo q issue again while not affecting any swf. Tbh knockout itself is one of the few anti-soloq perks in the first place and I think we need less of those/rework them all in the first place to do something completely different, but that's just me.

I also think this is the best approach. Time to rework Knockout once again.
