Remember how DC penalties started at 5 mins? Good times

DC penalties should start at 15 mins. My condolences goes to those whom have bad internet, however.

It's not just bad internet. The game's code is iffy and often unstable, which can lead to lots of server lag outs, especially on the old gen consoles and Switch. The penalty system cannot differentiate between connection issues and people purposely leaving, and hits them all equally.

We really need cross progression due to the new generation consoles being available now, and I’ve had so many things on my old gen account. I understand things like this takes time but I don’t want to lose demogorgon or all my other killers

I believe you can keep your progress and currencies when going from Xbox1 to Series x/s and from PS4 to PS5, with all digital versions.

You just have to redo the achievements and trophies. Do some dlc's not transfer? Is that what you are referring to when you say Demo? I still have him on my Series X, dunno about the PlayStations though.

    1. Infrastructure would need to be overhauled, BHVR has enough on their plate
    2. Language barriers
    3. People don't want to be subjected to other people's nonsense. If I wanted to listen to a bunch of screeching toxic twits, I'd play CoD.*
    4. Much harder to moderate, would lead to a tsunami of reporting
    • you could make it optional, but then you'd have people crying about and attacking people because they weren't using it.

    This is a good summary.

I believe the devs have stated several times their primary reasons for not implementing VC are both the concern over language barriers and the availability of various chats via third parties.

However imo their biggest concern would be the moderation nightmare they'd be taking on, and wanting no part of that.

DPI Clutch + Blight = Love of my life ❤️🥹

This strange arithmetic doesn't seem to mean much to us consolers.

  • @BenOfMilam said:

Are there controllers with modified DPI? Like having a switch that changes stick input from giving a value between 0 and 1 based on how much you have it tilted, to a value of 0 to 2.

Just curious. I don't play on console at all.

Nope. Some of the most challenging aspects of playing killer with a controller are the dead zones on the sticks before actually being able to move, flicks are unheard of, and strafing is a nightmare.

Awhile back they doubled the sensitivity and gave it a slider, which comes in handy as is seems each killer requires their own sensitivity level. Nevertheless this change did help.

  • When he first came out, I would characterize Blight as unplayable on my Xbox1 most definitely.

Shortly before leaving DBD one of the devs, McLean I think it was, dove into Blight on console, making very noticable improvements in control and movement.

To play Blight to full potential yes a keyboard & mouse and steady frames are needed, but in his current form Blight is not unplayable on console.

You will need a TON of practice with him (go kill a couple hundred bots for starters) and jack that controller sensitivity up to at least 180 imo, and in time you'll find success. And try not to become add-on dependent either.

    Basically the title.

Too many maps spawn with 3 gens that are either

    1) much too easy to defend,

    2) mandatory to defend (against good players)

    3) Have nearly unavoidable 3 gens even if you make active efforts to break them while the killer isn't defending them.

Prime example of the first problem. Dead dawg and Haddonfield. Gallows and the area behind it is far too easy to defend and is a no brainer to keep up the entire match, a gen kick build on any killer good at pressuring survivors can literally hold the game hostage here. The way this could be fixed on the map is to remove the gallows gen and put it somewhere else, like in the corner area behind main near the outhouse/basement spawn.

Haddonfield almost always spawns a gen inside the Myers house as well as one outside of it then one in the field that often is very weak loop wise right next to that. The gen right in front of the myers house should get the axe and be placed somewhere else.

Prime example of the second problem. Suffocation pit, when defending both sides of the map, there is far too much ground to cover for low mobility killers to not 3 gen. The middle of the map is so safe that a good survivor can even loop good killer players with an anti loop power there for a long time. The loops on this map need to be more evenly distrubuted the shape/size needs to change a bit and the wall that makes crossing point in the middle of the map smaller needs to go.

Prime example of the 4th is Azarov's Resting Place. You can break 2 3 gens on that map and the killer can still have a 3 gen. In perhaps one of the worst ARPs Ive ever seen there were literally 5 gens on the main side of the map and 2 on shack side. That is extraordinarily rare, though. This map has to be more square and less bottlenecky. The middle needs to be widened a bunch and the ends brought closer together. Lesser example: Temple of wrath. Same problem as ARP but not as bad.

Now at the rate that devs update maps, this is probably never going to happen, so in reality what probably needs to happen is there needs to be 9 gens on the map instead of 8 so that at the last gen you would instead have to protect a 4 gen which would be a lot harder and extremely defendable setups would be drastically rarer.

Why: 3 gens are not good gameplay. It is boring. The interactive and fun part of the game is chasing / being chased which is the part that should be encouraged, not hyper defensive play styles that involve waiting around on the survivors to give you easy hits.

You say there needs to be a 9th gen added to each trial, but I'm pretty sure all maps spawn just 7 in total. Thier placement rng could use some love on the maps you mentioned, but the notorious one for me is a certain iteration of RPD where two gens appear in the main hall with another close by.

Or there could be a number next to the portrait next to the Killer portrait. That number shows how further down in the queue you'll be pushed if you select the Killer being overplayed.

Also, there could be 200% or 300% bonus for playing Killers that aren't touched.

That idea of incentiviving underplayed killers is interesting. Definitely has possibilities imo.

Those six Twins players out there would rejoice, however no amount of bribery will get me to play Trickster on my Xbox! ;)

Hi! Hope everyone is doing fine.

So, i'm here to talk about boons. I think much have been said about it, but i still feel it can be an overwhelming perk in certain maps, especially in stronger one (Like Raccon Police Department, The Game or Eerye of Crows). Even with the killer having the possibility to snuff out the totem, survivors can easily light it up in another place, like near a completed generator.

I think boons should be a one-time use perk: when the killer snuff out the totem, the perk remains inactive for the remainer of the match. This could make the perk a more strategic one for healing, instead of a free medkit for everyone in the team.

Whats your thoughts on the current state of boons? How you guys have been dealing with the boons?

I think the whole point of COH in particular was to provide a medlit area for all survs, especially with the hammering Self Care took. In solo queue it's darn near impossible to get a timely heal from an ally, so that boon is super helpful to the whole team. And COH has been changed a few times already.

The maps you mentioned offer multiple floors that the boons can nearly all reach. If we wish to look at that aspect of coverage, I bet they'll be a backlash against it, saying then we should not have terror radius effects behaving in the same way. All non-stealth killers benefit from that, especially doc and Wesker, as it creates much hesitation and confusion.

It's going to make killers feel even more miserable when they are against a coordinated SWF, where the survivors are using voice communications to point out all the pallets that need to be reset. Solo survivors aren't going to know where all the pallets are that can be reset, but SWFs with voice communication can get so much more value out of this perk buff.

All the more reason to run Windows of Opportunity.

Sometimes I get an end screen where it says both I and another player both DC'd, always one of the two the killer. Doesn't matter if I was playing as killer or as a surv, it shows two DC's.

It is a visual bug unfortunately, and in reality only I lagged out of the game and got the penalty. I'm on Xbox if that matters.

Currently there is no Cross Progression with the PlayStations or with Xbox and PC. The devs know it's wanted by the community, and they say they are working on it. But there's no timeframe for it coming, if ever. This has been the response for years now, sadly.

They have to agree on deals with both Sony and Microsoft that all can live with, so it isn't just the devs at fault here.

DBD makes a lot of money.

You would have thought the management would have said hey let's do a system reboot of DBD with fresh code rewrites of everything. You get a built in replay system that shows the speeds during the replay of everyone doing everything. It would eliminate cheating instantly other than things like wallhack aura vision. And then we can use behavior visual analysis to flag people who are likely cheaters using wall vision.

If the devs were really clever they could have the game come out in chunks. They could have the "oldschool" block that just has every killer from the first year. You get the original maps and those killers all fixed and updated with current mechanics. In a sense this would be like some kind of "DBD throwback". Unlike the 2016 launch of the game we would have stopguards for cheese such as fast/slow/medium vaults and entity window blocking.

It would take a lot of effort but it would keep people wanting to play the game to know that a new horizon was coming for DBD.

It would be wonderful, but I don't see them putting the resources needed I to all that.

I know they keep saying they working on cheating and they can’t say what they’re doing but that they banned a lot of cheaters. Great.

My issue is the reporting system. When you report a cheater you have to file an in game report which flags the match but then you have to submit a ticket with video evidence. If you’re not a streamer and/or you don’t record all your matches just on the off chance that you’ll have a cheater in your match.. then basically reporting does nothing. The hacker just gets away.

Why is the burden on us the player to record all of our matches in order for BHVR to catch cheaters? This is the only game I’ve played thus far that requires this level of work from the playerbase to find and remove people who are cheating and hacking. What’s the point of EAC?

Correct me if I’m wrong because maybe I don’t understand, but I’ve never had to record every match of other games I play just in case I need to report a hacker/cheater. What are other game devs doing to combat this issue that BHVR isn’t?

To your point about video proof being required, unfortunately it is on us because they cannot add a replay system into their shaky coding. They would have had to do so in the original release it's much too late now. It was made "slightly" easier not needing Steam ID's, but yeah I doubt anyone is a fan of their reporting system.

Maybe in DBD2 should that ever happen.

Honestly if that is too much and going to cause toxicity then we are literally trying to live in a little safe bubble these days and afraid to touch grass.

Aside from any toxicity concerns, imaginary or not, there's the "I'm at so-so MMR and I only play with so-so and I'll show you if needed" baloney that would ensue, leading to lobby dodging and thereby matchmaking shenanigans.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/363490/another-look-at-gen-speed-now-that

I still think maps are the problem , not survivors , not gen speeds , like doesnt matter how much you nerf or buff the gens speed that doesnt change the fact that depending which RNG you get on some maps you can easily stomp the survivor or VICEVERSA

but if we are honest most of the maps had a higher change to spawn god setups connected into each others + there is some maps insanely bigger like Red forest were by default without corrup intervention or a killer with high mobility you are forced to let go 1 gen every single time...

as survivor i think nobody likes the weaker tiles that they added to autohaven , it literally makes the map RNG depending which is bad because on those tiles there is no mindgame on them you just wait until they drop the pallet and you secure a free hit...

    Problems with DBD IMO:

-Nurse making impossible to balance maps perfectly since she can noclip into stuff and make smaller maps miserable to go against.

-the overall map design: like garden of pain

-RNG can either favor the killer or survivor pretty hardly on some maps.

-still not having an early game mechanic (for the love of god BHVR just make corrup basekit for 16 seconds)

that would help a lot for many maps in this game..walking 1 minute on red forest to just reach to a gen is stupid for m1 killers.

I think they went with the current form of Corrupt Intervention over any basekit option to discourage the killer from spawning in, spinning about, and immediately picking their 3-gen to defend only. With the rise of that strat since the CI perk change, I can see what might have influenced them.

Then there's a certain map or two that if you don't set up that 3-gen immediately against 4 good survs you'll need Nurse or Blight or Spirit to have a fighting chance. This should never be the case in any map, and I hope that gets looked into soon.

  • @lemonsway said:

Survivors are not meant to be a team, each survivor is not meant to have the same chances of survival as the other 3 and a killers chance of killing each survivor is also different.

The simple fact RNG is very predominant in the game makes it so some players are better or worse equiped to get a Win. This also means that skill becomes irrelevant when the game itself is harder for some and easier for others. There's no leveled playing field where players can showcase their level of understanding but also grow over time as players. Wether you get an easy or difficult match is Random, wether the same 5 people playing on the same map get the same results or not is up to RNG.

That's why SoloQ is Shambles and SWF seems unstoppable, it's the difference between having a Team and having Individuals.

The game is not 4v1, never was designed to be but the option exists, this completly throws a wrench against the game. This is why SWF won't be nerfed and SoloQ is getting all the buffs BHVR can come up with.

Changing the core of the game so it carefully reflects what is obviously meant to be a team effort? No, let's make the game as Casual as possible and make it a Free for All that is absolutly impossible to Balance and forces people to play in ways that are of no Fun for themselves, for the other players or for anyone that could be watching them...

This is why the game isn't Balanced. IT's not Survivors vs Killers, it's a Free for All! You don't need the other 3 Survivors to Escape and technically Win, you don't need to even touch a gen or be a god at escaping the killer so long as you're favoured by RNG you're set to take an easy W.

Why do you think certain Perks exist? I'll use a concrete example, why you think Lethal Pursuer exists?

It exists for killers to combat RNG and be able to initiate a Chase as soon as possible since Time works against the killer.

Why does Windows of Oportunity exist? So that YOU, and you alone, not every survivor, just you, can see where there's usable Loops.

This is the issue, the focus is on the Individual not the Role. For killers it will always be an Individual focus but that's alright since there's only 1 killer in every match. But there's 4 survivors that should be required to work together to maximize everyones chance of escaping.

What makes more sense 1v1 against Nurse or a 4v1 against her!?

Making the game proper 4v1 would be benefitial to survivors, to killers, and to the game's health and longevity. It creates a safety net for survivors, it allows to Balance killers towards playing vs the 4 and not just focus in 1v1's and it would make the whole game easier to Balance. The game should literally be an Us vs Them discussion instead of being a Me vs Everyone else.

But that's not the reality, the reality is i have to play against other survivors.

This extreme focus on Casual would be fine if you'd fix the core of the game. It's ok for the game to be for Casuals just build a logical game instead of this 1v1v1v1v1 RNG filled nonsense where my skill is denied by RNG and a bunch of other systems that only make things more frustrating.

MMR is useless since wether you escape or die has no correlation to skill yet everyone plays as if they need to be high MMR for idiotic self validation. We're all High MMR because the MMR Cap is incredibly low because skill has no real meaning in DbD. Someone that starts playing today will be High MMR in a few Hours and will be queued up against Prestige level 1 Billion guys with more hours spent on DbD than the time they've spent making their own bed over the years.

There's already enough Maps to not need RNG, there's already 6 years spent in the game, there's no need for RNG, the exact same people playing today are the ones that were playing it last year and the year before give or take a few dozens...

To your last point about the veteran players, I'll say this:

If the devs have repeatedly shown us anything it is that they focus primarily on the casual middling players and newbies before all else.

Now I'm not the biggest fan of using Steam charts at all, but recently the game has shot back up to near the top in fresh sales again. So that means many newbies just joining, and right before the event as well. Add to that on Xbox this game has been on GamePass for an eternity and we cannot know console numbers, but free is free.

So with all those new players popping in during what is usually a slower timeframe otherwise, what do you think the devs will focus on?

The game ended with a stomp. One hook, all gens done, 4 man escape. I would injure but be completely unable to down because of medkits, COH, excellent looping (with no weak links), etc. I can see why people say tunneling is now meta, Survivors bring the best stuff and now basic yet powerful SWF advantages are basekit. "Killer on me" + "I'm doing this gen" lets everyone exploit SWF advantages.

Killers now need to bring broken stuff like Eruption, I feel, and I hope that Killer buffs come eventually to help deal with this. Unless I'm just overreacting, that is.

(Also, MMR decay is garbage if I got matched with these Survivors after a huge absence on my FIRST GAME in DBD.)

I'm not going to lay this one on the devs here. I think Microsoft (and maybe Sony too) has it in their agreements we all blindly accept that games cannot mess with clicking on profiles and such. Just like games cannot mess with chat parties either.
