Hard to say without seeing the game
Agreed. I'd want to see these filthy survs in action, and their builds too, before passing judgement.

Lots of games have this built in. Can we look into adding this in the future? Would help a lot with combatting hackers. Also, I'd like to be able to replay my most recent match to be able to see better where I went wrong or just to re-watch the funny bits. Please 🙏
Been asked for many many times. They said it would have had been coded originally when they first made this game. It's too late now apparently.
Maybe in DBD 2?

Well consoles also don't have any graphics or more importantly performance optimization after 5 years.
So i don't know what you expect for a single killer.
While you are correct, Trickster is the only killer that is flat out unplayable on console. Even worse to run than Nurse, and far less effective. They have a legit right to complain about him.

Yeah sure. But if you are pedantic, the game runs significantly different on last gen consoles vs current gen, or not? And there is a big difference between switch and the other consoles.
it’s way too simplified when only calling out PC and consoles should be separated, especially when lower end PCs with controller are a thing as well..
DBD absolutely runs much more stable on my Xbox series X than on my Xbox1x, but many of the same performance issues are cropping back up.
I just wish there wasn't such a huge disparity between them when it comes to this particular game.

I meant only the high end pc gamers with no controllers, guess I could have put that one better
It is unfortunate that there's such glaring gameplay differences between what platform ya run DBD on. Far more than most games out there.
It's the root cause of so many requests for this over the years, and for Cross Progression as well.

Separate PC and Switch users from cross play.
I play on PS5 but when I use cross play off I can only and only play with PS5 players not even PS4.
Make cross play for PS4,PS5, and Xbox.
I cannot see them ever implementing this. The playerbase prolly isn't big enough to support splitting queues like this. Believe me I also would like console-only matches.
If M,&K was available for all players, and game performance was much closer, then maybe it wouldn't feel this way. But this is DBD we're talking about after all.

Exactly how would anyone on a console play this game without a controller?
The rest is sarcastical goodinesses!

Add this effect to Monstrous Shrine. Maybe then it'll finally be run by someone.

So, just had a match against a supposedly farming Piggy who wanted snoot boops. I was suspicious because they weren't interested in farming or chasing at all, just crouched around and asked for boops.
Well, last gen pops, she downs someone with NOED and mori's them because they were the obsession. Using Game Afoot, she was able to mori 3 of us. It was disgusting but I couldn't get mad since it was creative.
GG Miss Piggy, GG.
I usually honor the boop system, and I despise NOED, but I won't hate on a fellow Piggly Wiggly who runs that build either.

The game is incredibly CPU heavy, and that's the thing that holds it back on most consoles, not the graphics at all. The only exception to this is Switch, because everything about that console is terrible (and the fact that Tears Of The Kingdom looks and runs as well as it does is an absolute miracle). It could be that your GPU has nothing to do with it (like, I can get a consistent 60fps on a GTX 1660, so I'd assume that'd be easy for an RTX 2060) and it's your CPU that's struggling. My current one (Ryzen 7 3700x) is fine but my old, awful intel CPU from like 2014? I genuinely thought it was gonna explode at times, I don't know how it survived.
This is roughly why they admitted they couldn't meet that lofty goal of all platforms running it at a minimum 60 frames. The bottlenecking of their coding is just too much for the prior gen machines to digest, the current consoles are cropping up similar issues, and lower end PC's suffer too.
Amazing how much more demanding and intensive games run just honky dory on my ol' Xbox1x, but not a game seven years old now.

They spend so much on licenses and updating the game and giving their workers a meaningful wage. Itd be hard to do that when also sony and microsoft are taxing them if most of their console players move to pc.
If its still like this im not really sure.
Not all consolers would abandon them for PC, but enough of them would because of the significant performance differences to feel it financially. They do know this is a wanted thing, just need to make a deal they all can live with. Hopefully they're still actively trying to do that.
Too bad all this wasn't in place when they ported this game on over. If I had to start from scratch again I'd quit personally.

You know that the basement is specifically designed to be close to a death trap, right? It's a means of creating pressure and punishing careless survivors. Removing that makes the game even more forgiving for survivors, which really isn't necessary at the moment.
This is how I view the basement as well. Most maps have one, and I believe there should be an area the survs should avoid because it is so dangerous and potentially quite leathal.

While I didn't buy a Series X for DBD, it was a huge boost to the game.
I was seriously considering not playing anymore because of how bad some games were on my One. I don't see how anyone can tolerate playing on the last gen hardware.
It's not a problem with the hardware of the prior gen consoles, it's the bottlenecking due to the poor optimization & their coding of this game. Other much more demanding games still run well on them, just not DBD.

At this point it's pretty much stable 60fps on XSX (with killer it feels a bit lower), way better than on Switch and the older gen consoles. Someone really should do a recent framerate test with DbD on the newest consoles, couldn't find anything on YT.
But when i switch from SoT with 120fps to DbD i can see a huge difference.
On PC you can play DBD with 120fps, why not on XSX and PS5?
I think the current gen consoles are locked at 60 frames for DBD

I see no reason why consoles for so long have never been able to access the pre-game and/or post-game chat. Im a console player myself and it has always bugged me, honestly if were able to even just be able to see the chat that would be nice, dont even need to message in it but that would be even better. Never understood why they never added it for console players.
I believe part of the problem is DBD doesn't support M&K at all, so we'd be slowly painfully using the dang controller to type out something.
From what most of those on PC who do see & use the chat say about it, it seems it isn't worth having overall. Plus it would be yet another thing for the devs to police, and another thing we'd have to start reporting using that abysmal system as well.

DBD was my favorite game for a good 3 years, but I played on PS4. This generation I bought a PC and most of the games I really enjoyed on PS I have repurchased so I can play them on my preferred system. I would keep playing DBD on my PS4 despite how badly it runs on that console now, however, that requires PS+ and I can't justify paying $70 a year just so I can access one game that only costs $30. I would love to keep playing on my PC and would have no problem rebuying the game itself, but knowing all my progress would be gone stops any desire I have to keep playing. Obviously, I spent some money on cosmetics and DLC over the years which I definitely would not want to have to buy again but the real killer is starting over my character progression. Right before the prestige system changed I spent a LOT of time maxing out all my survivors to unlock perks.
Last I heard, there were no plans to bring any cross-progression to Xbox or PlayStation. Obviously, I'm not in any position to demand I am owed anything... I am just sad about the whole situation.
Sorry to see a fellow consoler go, and I'm very bummed out it's for this reason. I'd drop the game too if I had to regrind from scratch.
They know this feature is badly wanted, but obviously haven't come up with a deal they and Sony & Microsoft (and Nintendo still too) can all live with.

I was wondering what everyone thinks about adding a compass to the game. Is it something the devs have ever considered? I feel like it would help with communicating, but maybe it would be problematic for balance? I can't think of any problems but I'm sure someone can enlighten me. Sometimes it's just a pain trying to tell someone where you're at on the map, and it would be nice to say I'm in the northwest corner or something. That's all!
I've gotten used to navigating by landmarks as I learn maps.
Such an addition wouldn't do squat for solo queue but be quite usable by those on comms. Because of that you might stir the ire of those who, um... dislike SWF a little bit.

Hello, my dear friends,
I would like to suggest an update to daily ritual generation. 99.9% of my rituals are killer ones. I understand this is a mechanic to encourage playing as killer, and I can't argue with that logic. I would however like seeing some survivor ones thrown in. I suggest a selectable option, perhaps it could be killer, neutral, or survivor, with the generator leaning, but not guaranteeing, towards the chosen option.
My suggestion regarding player cloud id is less cheerful, I'm aafraid. The amount of farming killers these days is approaching 50% for my games. A Ghostface runs about teabagging. A Freddie stands still, swiping his claws through the air. You all know the drill. It is making almost half the games unplayable, and I am at the point of reporting them. However, the reporting form asks for our player cloud id, and surely, there is a better way of identifying ourselves than entering a string longer than the declaration of independence. And it is not only farming killers. Hackers need to and must be reported, yet it is a nightmare of a process to complete.
Thank you all for your time, and warm regards.
I don't think anyone enjoys the reporting system. They did slightly streamline it a little when they no longer required Steam ID's and the like, but it still puts too large a burden on the players sending them in.
And I don't know what tf our poor Switch cousins are supposed to do, as their ability to record their DBD games was removed many months ago to improve "performance" somehow.

Playing a lot as him recently, and i gotta be honest, i dunno if i just know how to play him right or if its because of the relatively recent rank reset, but i have consistently been WAY too accurate on shots.
Im consistently getting really weird luck shots, like REALLY lucky chase-ending shots off on some survivors, there needs to be some tweak to the hitboxes he can hit to make it like 5% more difficult to land hits or something.
I hear a lot about how trickster is one of those all survivors kinda hate for whatever reason, but like im consistently doing better than i think i should, and if he could just be scootched down a notch i think it would be for the best.
The easiest and strongest way to nurf some Trickster gameplay is to hand you the controller and have you try him on my Xbox.

Was this a cheater, a bug, or are survivor items just allowed to be that stupid broken??
The locked in animation thing is often funny with the latency of this game. What goes on that you see on your tv is not what a surv sees, and that goes both ways. Those add-ons prolly aggravated the problem as well.
It's also why a surv will be done vaulting a window, take two or three steps away in their view, and still be smacked by a lunging killer. While the killer sees the surv half way through the vaulting animation and look much closer to them in their view.

I've always wondered if DBD would ever have a more natural looking ground for their maps. A ground that's more in-depth instead of dead flat. I'm probably the first to ask this hahaha. I've played the game for 4k hours and I've always thought about this. Figured I'd share it. Maybe others have thought about it too.
Blight players are gunna love you for suggesting this. His bounce detection on flat surfaces can be inconsistent already. The Swamp maps and that artist map have changed in elevation that can be problematic for him.

I think adding a list where we can see who we blocked would be great since I don't know who I've got blocked.
The in-game blocking feature only prevents comms, and in no way effects matchmaking. So someone you've blocked can't send messages or friend requests etc. but you can get them in a lobby again.
Otherwise blocking would be abused very badly.

Then survivors need to be prepared to face Nurse and Blight (using every tech in the book) every game. Two killers I personally hate facing and playing due to their ability to just safely ignore tiles. Killer players who don't play Nurse/Blight will either leave the game, switch sides, or just learn Nurse/Blight.
Sadly that's not really a viable option for us consolers. We can get ok-ish with Blight, however the camera is slower, the sticks have dead zones and input lag, and flicks unheard of.
But Nurse on a controller with unstable frames? Nightmare fuel.

@YukariTheAlpaca said:
So what is the killer supposed to do now? How do they gain pressure? By getting downs? Yea right, usually 2-3 gens pop by your first down anyways. EVEN if you manage to get a down before 2-3 gens pop, the remaining 3 survivors not on hooks (unless someone DC'd for some reason) will usually pop said gens shortly after hooking the survivor you managed to catch.
Camping someone secured pressure, that is why killers started to do it more and more ESPECIALLY after the stall nerfs. You think it is fun to camp survivors to death? No, it is not; it is boring. I want to go out and chase, but I also want to have a chance at winning the match and potentially getting 2-4 kills.
At the highest level of play, this is the smartest strategy to do, regardless of if it is fun for anyone. Killers do not have enough time to go for 12 hook games against survivors that want to actually do their main objective efficiently. Chase time has never been the issue for good killers, it is the game length that is the issue. The earlier you eliminate a survivor from the match, the more the match slows down for the killer to chase and get downs. It isn't rocket science; then again, no one said it was.
Lets look at this mathematically. You find the first survivor at the start of the match. You are a 115 M1 killer. This means that if said survivor starts running away as soon as they hear the TR, regardless of if they even have an exhaustion perk or use pallets/windows, it will take you upwards of 30-40 seconds or more to catch up and get one hit. The killer after hitting them needs to wipe their weapon, the survivor gains the short burst of speed, and now its another 20-30 seconds for that second hit. Add another 6 to 10 seconds to hook them, and you got a minimum of 56 seconds for one down.
With how little time remaining before gens start popping, this means the killer needs to find another survivor within 34 seconds or 3 gens pop (if you do find another in this time, congrats; now only 2 gens of the 5 needed will pop, with one other gen nearly completed). THIS IS ALL ASSUMING YOU FIND SOMEONE AS SOON AS THE MATCH STARTS. You start adding the fact that survivors will utilize pallets and windows after just running away for the maximum amount of time they can, and now it could take even longer to get a down.
I get it because I play survivor as well. I hate getting camped and tunneled, but I also know what it is like on the other side of the coin. There needs to be some way for the killer to get pressure and actually be encouraged, not forced, to leave the hook and go out to hunt other survivors.
They do not balance the game around the most efficient gameplay on either side. They focus on the middling group with a thoughtful glance at the newbies. Whether that is the correct approach or not is another thread entirely. The most effective strats are also the most "boring" and "unfun" out there, and the most complained about too.
I'm glad I'm just an ok surv and a terrible killer so I don't get the sweats too often, mostly just when backfilling occurs. Wishing the mass lobby dodging didn't happen so much though.
-
In this mode the Killers would be just Injuriers, and the Moris would be useless. Any perks and add-ons involving kills would need to be reworked I guess? Like Devour Hope and Rancor, etc. At least for this mode they would, or be deactivated.
There'd be no point to Reassurance and any similar perks really. What about a Pyramid Head who possibly can cage everyone? Or a Twins who hooks no one? There would be lots to look at.
The number of chases would likely skyrocket and that's not a bad thing at all.
I agree with the others, should there be a DBD 2 they could include this Arcade Mode.

When I get that code on my Xbox I restart my console and usually that does the trick. On occasion it takes two or three restarts.
-
Sadly if a group of survs have been dodged repeatedly and/or been waiting for too long the matchmaking often just grabs the first available killer regardless of their MMR.
The custom bots can be useful for new killers. Not the same I know, but less brutal certainly.
-
The last time this question was put to the community the overwhelming response was faster queue times, in preference to matchmaking quality.
I doubt DBD has the playerbase size to support two queues either. And how would the sweats be kept out of the casual side anyway, in either role?

People who wanted to gaslight you would say that the likelihood of meeting a 4 man swf is low or you can still win even with the information handicap.
Just play like each match is a 4 man swf.
I suspect most of the veteran very good killers are matched up with the very good teams quite often, if there's no lobby dodging shenanigans to bork things up. The sweats against the sweats at that mythical "high MMR" area. If that happens to often to either role they'll get burned out quickly af.

I am once again suggesting that BHVR immediately start a match when 5 players are found. Then the ability to lobby dodge is removed entirely, and then the matchmaking system can function properly.
I agree with you. This would absolutely work, and get rid of the annoying last second swapping bs survs can do as well. Their matchmaking system could have its best shot to do it's thing.
Good luck getting support for this though.
-
Was it a butthole move to hard tunnel anyone at five gens? Prolly. But this is still a matchmaking issue at the core, most likely brought about from lobby dodging/backfilling and the prioritizing of queue times.
I do have to wonder what would happen if they locked the lobbies, or didn't show them in the first place? That would allow the matchmaking to do it's thing uninterrupted, and eliminate last minute swaps by survs as well. Might be worth testing.

I have been playing DBD on console since 2019 - I honestly really enjoy to play the game most of the time. Obviously like every game there are flaws but I enjoy the mind games aspect of the game and I am always striving to get better.
I recently bought a keyboard and mouse for Xbox. I was shocked to find out that keyboard and mouse is not compatible on console. I really want to learn how to play DBD on keyboard and mouse. I am super comfortable on controller and wanted a new challenge.
Is there any chance this would be added to console soon!???? I sure hope so, I am sure there are a lot of people who want this to be on console.
Thank you for your time and help :)
Been asked for many many times over the years. Last word was that they have no plans to add it. The reasons given were it would involve too much time, way too much work, and would require an UI update as well. I believe the question was again asked during the last dev Q&A.
There is an adapter available that costs around $240 USD that does work for the PlayStations, however it does not work on the Xbox machines. Things like you can move left and right, but not forward or back, nothing triggers powers or interactions etc. and no binds work at all.

I have been missing the old Hawkins Lab a lot lately, since it was kinda unique with its design even with all its gameplay problems. I know that we will probably never get it back (although hope dies last), which is why I thought of something similar but new. Now there are 2 possibilities here to do this: either an original design or a map for an already existing (or new) license.
I want to talk about version 2 here, because I think that Resident Evil provides us with a lot of inspiration for this one through Umbrella for example. I mainly think of the lab from the RE2 remake, but I guess one could also use the one from the first RE game too. The main problem would be that these are HUGE, but the Devs already dealt with that on RPD (more or less ideal). I quickly made a tour video of the area I would use from the RE2 lab. Sorry for the weird sound but my recording software seems to mute some aspects for some reason.
This map could be included in the "RPD Badge" offering since both are in Raccoon City. If the lab beneath the Spencer Mansion is more to your liking you could change the icon to the Spencer Family Crest (which is basically the Umbrella logo):
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4R2T6TYLB9RA/rem-metalobj-lg.png
What do you think?
I've always liked the lab from the first RE movie personally. I bet the DBD graphics folks could come up with yet another awesome visual spectacle making that.
But for gameplay and performance issues I loath all indoor maps myself. Perhaps some of the streets of Racoon City could be re-created lovingly by them.

Adding voice comms will not help the vast majority of solo q Survivors, it would just make it easier for toxic people to be gross and make even more work for the already overwhelmed BHVR support team. Not to mention on the EU servers you'd have little chance of everyone even understanding the same languages, never mind cooperating perfectly.
Just make Kinship basekit and maybe give Killer FoV slider to compensate.
The language barrier problem has always been the main reason they've given for not adding voice chat. Not too convincing to me as so many other team games have it, regardless of how different from other games DBD is.
My gut says the nightmare of policing any chat added is the real concern. Just my opinion though.
Most likely no voice or ping/wheel system we ever be added.
