do you not know what happens to you as a survivor player in end-game-chat if you even think about hiding in this horror game with very obvious hide-and-seek elements?

Join us on Console then, no end game chat at all.

You really didn't need those 60fps anyway. Plus we have Doritos! 😎

  • Most likely it is Sony and/or Microsoft holding this up, and not the devs themselves. Prolly won't happen imo. And Switch seems stuck as well.

  • @MockingBurns said:

outside of just having the option open to people to play how they prefer, i would also greatly appreciate it due to disability making controllers sometimes difficult or painful to use for periods of time, while M&K leaves my hands and wrists in a place much better for long term play.

now, i know the popular responce to this is just "get a pc", i can not work due to aforementioned disability, and if you feel so strongly about it, my paypal is open, a decent gaming pc is about £1,000 ^-^

The "just get a PC" solution is not viable so long as there's no Cross Progression available. Very few players who spend whatever monies and thousands of hours on DBD are likelpy to rebuy every blessed thing and regrind every character from scratch.

  • @Pootarter said:

With cross-play being essential to most titles, we now see mouse and keyboard support across tons of games. The same should be done for DBD, as it would allow console players the same diversity and selection as those on PC.

A agree, however they've said many times they have no plans to add it sadly.

Its not something that big that i would like, its just i have found some really cool wesker perk icons for lethal pursuer and nowhere to hide and i would love to use them but i cant cause well im on console. Or maybe let me use already made perk icons on other perks. Like awakened awareness on my shadowborn for example.

Those on PC who mess around with the custom perk icons do so by changing the game files, something not possible on the consoles as far as I know.

They also run the risk of the Anti Cheat banning for it, and if that happens the devs cannot do a thing about it.

Seeing streamers on their 400+ winstreak going against players that dont even look back ONCE in chase tells everything you need to know about how bad the current MMR system is.

Newer players should not be the little toy for some max mmr players that just happened not find a match instantly. Sacrificing match quality over a few seconds in the queue is bad IMO. Nobody enjoys 3minute stomps where you get 3k BP, sadly it happens way to often.

Constant lobby dodging from Killers because of survvors prestige level is also very bad for the matching. I stopped playing my p100, suddenly almost no more killer dodges in the lobby and the match quality significantly increased. WHY IS SURV PRETIGE EVEN SHOWN TO THE KILLER BEFORE THE GAME?!

For me it feels like there are not more than 3 brackets of mmr, either u're brand new, average mrr or high mmr. But it still feels like average mmr players can still be matched with brand new and high mmr, i can get a killer with 100hours, die in that match and get a 7k+ hours comp player from one of the top EU teams in the next match, this should never happen. Give us more MMR brackets or, if there are already more than what it feels like, match them more strictly together instead of these heavily missmatched games we regularly get, nobody enjoys those matches.

To be fair, on console the camera is much slower to swing around with the controller sticks. When playing surv I learned to both listen to the killer and watch for the red stain behind me.

Unless the killer had unethical ping I usually could gauge how close they were to me. Usually.

I agree noobs never ever look behind them.

I see so many RPD, The Game, and Lerey offerings from my teammates and when I play killer. Hell, I even see more Midwich than maps like Azarovs or Macmillan.

I get these maps can be strong but am I the only one that absolutely despises playing on indoor maps as both survivor and killer?

Blasphemous behavior imo. When playing as a surv I absolutely despise all of the indoor maps. Other than when the graphical update to Lery's first came out, I have never used a map offering for any indoor map.

Can't find gens, can't find totems, can't find allies, can't find my own plump arse. Hate them all.

I'm still amazed people play DBD on Switch. I mean I sometimes have performance issues with the game on PC, so I can't even imagine how it must struggle on an underpowered console like the Switch. What's the FPS like? Maybe 20-30?

I'd get frames in the teens on Lery's and when several triggers would pop off on my Xbox1x. So I'd imagine 30 fps would be a very good day for our Switch cousins.

I'm still suffering on Switch, and I had the genius idea of getting my friends on the switch version too thinking the custom games would be better but no. It nearly bricked one of my friend's Switch Lite (Game crashed and system wouldn't power on for a whole day), another friend said they had constant frame stutters which causes them to miss skillchecks occasionally, and I can barely play an oni match with more than 1 person being injured since the blood orbs cause massive frame slowdown. Every one of them thinks the game is just a cash grab due to the low quality of the port. This is the impression new console players are getting.

Y'all crazy for trying the custom matches in this game. Those are still peer-to-peer, so the killer hosts those matches. On a Switch, especially the lite, that would be such a drain on the itsy bitsy horsepower they do have.

Love all of you Switch Cousins! Y'all have it the roughest.

Samsies. I feel whenever those dailies appear it is the game trolling tf outta me.

Alternatively you can use Lethal Pursuer to find your first survivors, bonus points if you go and disrupt all the ones teaming up on a generator (oftentimes it can be 3). This really disorganizes survivors as they have to move around for a bit and you also get free hits in at the start. SO now they have to look for a different gen. Either go at the other side of the map to be safe, or in the middle of the map where you'll probably get to interrupt them again during your chase with the first survivor.

At least that's how Lethal goes in my games.

I've gotten lots of fan mail from killers running Leathal because I always have Distortion. Underrated perk, and useful for a team too to deduce their perks.

I feel bad for people who play on Xbox one and PS4 cause 30fps is definitely ruff.. Xbox series x and PS5 is pretty good tho @60fps and killer feels fine and is pretty much on par with PC specs other then no m&k. Playing killer on controller takes skill especially on 100 sens but there’s no real movement and swing limiter playing killer on console.

Nurse, Oni, Huntress and Blight have an advantage on m&k over controller, but you can still land some nasty flicks with controller on 100sens playing those killers it’s just way harder and requires timing.

Trickster is the one only killer I'd consider absolutely unplayable with a controller. All other killers can be learned over time and get decent with, but not him.

There's face camping, in which you stand at the hook and guard the hooked survivor to prevent them from being rescued. Then there's proxy camping in which you patrol a short radius around the hooked survivor.

Both of these are camping. If people are immediately unhooking before the killer has even left the hook, then they're bad players.

These are my definitions as well. Proxying is a little more evil imo, but the situation can call for it. If they push the hook stages to the limit intercepting them can be smart, or if there's obvious scratchmarks around, or a slug or nearly done gen right there as well.

It basically comes down to are you justified loitering about. With one or no gens yet done and none of the above apply, I think that's the "camping" that infuriates the most survs.

  • @IWasLeft2Die said:

To clarify, I'm not arguing if the games are winnable or unwinnable nor am I asking for easy games. I find many swf games just are more frustrating than enjoyable where survivors are perfectly in-sync where they are using coms since it negates several killer perks, buffs survivors perks in ways not originally intended, among other things.

I'd say most swf games i either get a 3k or 4k or a kill one survivor and 2 others DC. Even many of these arent fun though. There are also the games I get stomped on too.

Each of these can happen in solo queue games as well of course. Some of the most fun games I've had ended with a 0K or 1K. Kills just really aren't what makes playing killer fun for me.

Anyone else feel like swf games just aren't as fun often times?

Most swf games feel like I'm just grinding my face up against a brick wall which, yes are still winnable, but the experience itself just isn't pleasant.

Should I feel it is a good coordinated team, SWF or not, I find it best to focus on using their tactics against them.

Most absolutely will stop what they're doing to try and prevent a teammate from going into the next hook phase, and place myself accordingly to get the trade or even a slug. Or when I get a basement hook and there's elevation somewhere nearby I'll crouch there to intercept. That on has saved my bacon many times on the huge Mother's Dwelling map.

When offered free hits I take them, and the longer healing times aid that as well. A team's desire to get everyone out during EGC can work for you too.

It all comes down to common sense & smart gameplay. If I know I made minimal mistakes I'm more likely to enjoy the experience and have a decent time playing.

Lots of arguments that minor the impact of casual/comp queues are ok and pretty logic. Indeed, some sweaty players would still go to the casual game mode for theoretically easier games

However, casual/comp queues would impact a non negligible part of the sweaty player base : all these streamers playing for win-streaks (usually with strong killers + strong add-ons + nasty gameplay at 5gens) will have to go to comp queues

Otherwise, their famous results would simply be null and void: no one could brag about win-streaks being done in casual queues 😅

This is something I hadn't considered. Kinda be shaming sweats to vs. each other.

Steam can show what players are doing in their game. This is very common and popular for multiplayer games.

it's better to know my friends are in a queue as a survivor and to know how many people are on their team. (4/4 3/4 2/4 1/4 in the lobby ) To know if my friends are playing as killers or not.

Please add this feature. Thank you.

Wouldn't that allow Killers on Steam to instantly know who's in a SWF, and therefore lead to even more lobby dodging? Thereby wreaking the matchmaking system?

Also how would non- Steam players use this? The vast majority of the playerbase is on the consoles. I can't see the devs devoting time & resources into something that not everyone could use.

In theory, yes, MNK are superior to controller, but a lot of games including DBD have greats console players that can performe really well, like was playing with MNK, I not playing DBD too much this days, like 4 to 7 matches a week or month, I play on the Xbox series S now, before I played on Xbox one, I reached iri 1, 2 and 3, multiple times with pyramid head, before the actual rank system.

MNK have a more impact in fps games, a game like dbd don't have much difference, for me of course

Try Trickster on that Xbox some time. He's the one killer that is universally considered unplayable with a controller. Many of the other killers are just much less responsive and take longer to get decent with.

Even if you use your account from the Xbox in the PC? We can login in the Microsoft store with a Xbox account, I picked the division 1 in this way with my phone and when I migrate to the Xbox one, I had a lot of games that I picked for free in the Microsoft store on my console, because I picked with my account

Yeah the Steam, Epic, and Windows versions are all kept separate from Xbox for DBD, even though most of that is Microsoft. They cannot blend, just for DBD.

  • We are neatly boxed in.

And since Cross Progression is not coming this century either, if we choose to abandon our consoles for a gaming PC we're boned as well. We'd have to rebuy the game, rebuy the dlc's l, rebuy any wanted cosmetics, kiss our charms goodbye, and then comes the best part. Releveling each and every character from scratch, grinding to unlock all the perks again.

Who with whatever monies spent and thousands of hours already into the game would go through all that. Not too many, although a few have. I'd quit personally I won't do it.

  • @uganda_calm said:

It is a big difference in my opinion. But you can just deactivate crossplay and you will play against much less mnk players.

Overall your problem is that consoles are meant for casual gaming and not for high pressure professional gaming. So if you want to play best and rank high every season you will have to play on mnk.

The way their matchmaking with CrossPlay off works is you only would be matched with others on your particular platform who also have CrossPlay off too, and not between the prior gen machines either.

So if I play DBD on my ol' venerable Xbox1 with CrossPlay off I couldn't get anyone on Xbox series x or s, nor any other console, even if they also have CrossPlay off too. Just those on Xbox1 with it off.

I tried it. Waiting 40-50 minutes for a match is trash fam. Trash.

And they've said many many times they have no plans to add M&K support, so that ain't coming either.

Yea some changes would be necessary for the mode to work out

But I doubt that we will get it before a new DBD comes out

Most likely for a DBD 2 yeah.

I don't know how they'd handle the licenses, but there are definite advantages for a new freshly coded DBD.

Besides adding in various new game modes, they could add a decent replay system, which everyone would rejoice at. Many bugs would be gone or minimalized. They could upgrade to UE5 and make use of it's options & power. They could use what they've learned while optimizing their game and apply that with (hopefully) much better effect.

  • Yeah I think the deadline be was like last September I think.

  • @nars said:

The game is being ruined because the two sides or being forced to play against one another. Casuals shouldnt have to deal with sweats hard tunneling at 5 gens, and sweats should have to deal with the baby trapper they got queued with after waiting 5 minutes in queue. Let people play with players with the same goal in mind when they queue up. If they want to win, go play comp. if they want to mess around, go for unranked. No shame in either way of playing, but their forced mixture has been plaguing this game for years now.

edit: yall make very good points about sweats just looking for an easy win in casual queue. But if mmr just did its job that wouldnt be such an issue. Also, ultra sweats will always just tunnel at 5 gens for the easy win. The point of the comp queue is more to send fair playing competitive players each others way. So that casuals running meme builds dont get stomped on people who were looking for a serious game. Obviously there are issues like with any game, im no dev but they could be solved somehow.

Two queues could split the playerbase badly, I doubt the game has enough size to support that. Plus the devs have a history of not making changes that hurt queue times.

There would be no practical way to keep the sweats away from non-sweats, in both roles. Players already lobby shop for a variety of reasons, mostly bad ones imo. That wreaks the matchmaking with all the backfilling problems being created, so they couldn't use the MMR for separation or "fairish"matches.

The main issue is player mindset, which cannot be realistically addressed in this game. The most efficient players will always seek out the easiest matches & strats in this community, regardless of restrictions on perks, add-ons, items, maps, or even reward bribery. It is more how they play than what they play.

Sadly there is no way to keep the sweats only with the sweats, and if there were most of those players would become burt out slags very quickly.

    1) It would show BHVR how the base game is

    2) It would be the best Competitive mode we can get

But these ideas would need a new game to be made

What if the 2v8 had two Nemesis killers? They already can't have a third zombie spawn in for performance issues, and that would send in four. What about the chainsaw brothers? Even the upcoming facecamping changes won't stop that amount of impossible unhooking. And watch the disconnects skyrocket when the survs see it's a Nurse and a Blight.

Dead Dawg has some things that are horrible for killers but also some redeeming qualities that can make it a very favorable map for killers if played right. The main building should be avoided at all costs. It is a huge time waster and cannot be disarmed. There is also the possibility of spawning some nasty set ups next to it.

But it has a pretty weak shack (breakable wall mostly disarms it) and despite how it might look, the map is actually pretty small and there are a lot of areas, that you don't have to care about. Some places only have very few pallets and it really hurts once they are gone. There are also thick grass for Trapper and Hag, good 3 gens for pretty much any killer, very consistent and manageable collisions for Blight and Billy, chances to break line of sight for stealth killers, favorable basement spawns for any killer, mostly mindgameable pallets for M1 killers and 1 very unsafe gen against ranged killers at the gallows. All in all, Dead Dawg Saloon can work in your favor, if you are able to play to its strengths.

This is my assessment as well. The overall size of the map is killer friendly, even slower ones, and it gets less and less safe as pallets are broken.

Right, but there are diminishing returns at a certain point. They essentially have matchmaking turned off right now. I've won 15 in a row on Freddy and I'm not even playing for a win streak. I don't think that's what anyone thought they were asking for when they said they preferred faster queues. It doesn't have to be one or the other. They're just going way too far in one direction.

I agree, and I think there aren't enough players (killers in particular) right now for all MMR's for their system to even try to work properly. Now add in lobby shopping/dodging and the resultant backfilling issues, and here we are.

A good deal of it is our own doing.

  • When I used to get this way too often on my Xbox1x I would try restarting my router and the console. If that didn't do the trick I'd uninstall and reinstall DBD. If that didn't work I'd play another game for an hour or two and then fire it up again.

I also remember my Internet and the chat party both not being interrupted, so it had to be the server.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Chase time is more or less already factored in when you sort for kill rate and survival rate. Someone who escapes at a high rate is generally going to be better in chase than someone who escapes at a lower rate. Yes, everyone has their one example of the immersed player who escaped that one time, but over hundreds of thousands of games, players with higher win rates will generally be better in chase. And it's not always so much about how long the chase goes so much as where and when the chase occurs.

But I do think they need to make massive improvements to matchmaking. Every developer is falling into this trap right now of constant engagement over match quality, and it's killing games for a lot of players. There's a middle ground to be had, and right now they're way too far in favor of queue times.

They prioritize queue times over matchmaking quality because in one of the last big feedback surveys the community overwhelmingly voted for faster queue times being more important.

Part of the problem has always been the Aim Dressing getting very confused in tight spots. I've lost many a hit because of it and instead smacking walls, trees, rocks, thin air. There's something about survs butt wiggling and partially spinning around that the blessed Aim Dressing just can't handle.

Lobby dodge => slightly longer queue time

DC upon killer conformation => completely ruined the match for everyone involved left behind.

    Notice the difference?

But lobby dodging borks up the matchmaking and creates backfilling, often leading to very one-sided games.

At this point it’s not gonna happen, has me wondering if BHVR will stop supporting last gen console pretty soon.

Most of the playerbase is on the consoles, and more than half of those are still toiling away on PS4 or Xbox1 or Switch. For live service games they have to continue to support those platforms until Sony and Microsoft & Nintendo end their support, or the game for technical reasons cannot play on them any more.

That last part hasn't been reached yet because the major hiccups with last gen machines are based on optimization issues & bottlenecking problems, and not with their actual capabilities. PS4 and Xbox1 both can run far more demanding games than DBD quite well, it is just them trying to digest this games coding.

Otherwise Boil Over shouldn't give you too much pain (though, I understand it's even more obnoxious when you play killer on controller). I rather have them redesign maps in a way that there are no default unhookable spots.

That being said I view the unhookable builds as the counterpart to slugging builds and wouldn't be sad if they both were to go; they're annoying and a lot still comes down to luck/rng/the other side being so tilted they don't play nearly as well as they could. Alas, both being unhookable and slugging are mechanics the dev view as legit strategies with perks designed for it. So I doubt either will go anytime soon.

Boil Over on console is a nightmare to deal with absolutely. The sway is random, and the input lag on the sticks means you cannot correct the sway and bump into everything. Entity help you if you're on an inside map, or have to go through doorways and/or very tight spots.

My ping is 70-90 as well and has been since Blight came out. NAeast region, I'm less than three hours from the server, and have very good wired internet. Each patch does effect my ping sadly.

    Excellent forum name btw!

Talking about Europe here, I could say that around 65-70% of the killers have red latency. It is just miserable and unfun experience, the amount of stupid hits after vaulting windows / dropping pallets it's just absurd. Why are we forced to play against these players who have 200ms+? At least before in the lobby you could see if the killer had red ping so you could dodge the game, now you can't do that anymore.

Sadly their servers in Frankfurt and in Singapore are the closest ones for Russia, South America, and the entire Middle East. Players in those areas get that sweet sweet 200+ ping most of the time due to their distances from those two servers. Not sure what else they could do actually.

Also the rough latency in this game makes those vault hits look super unfair at times. Horrible ping aggravates that as well.

  • Many issues and concerns with DBD can be very frustrating, especially those that either take a long time to be addressed or have been with us for a long while. Our passion for this game we care so much about and want to see be awesomer can lead to strong discussions here & elsewhere. It can also lead to venting, both good and bad.

Additionally I do strongly believe those of us who haven't played both roles to a competent level (often called "mains" in just one role) fail to have empathy for the other side, creating a definite bias.
