I'm a PC killer main that 4ks virtually every match. As long as you are getting 60 fps, you're good. I recently swapped to 60 fps since my Display Port cable broke and it made 0 difference to my gameplay. FPS is literally only important for skill checks.

I'd get frames down around the teens within the center room of Lery's on my ol' venerable Xbox1. 😂🤣

  • Without Cross Progression few players would slide over to a PC and start from scratch, rebuying everything and losing whatever accumulated limited stuff. I certainly won't, and those that have done so most likely did it because they lost hope in Cross Progression ever coming.

This is why just saying "get a PC then" is not a viable solution. It's punting and starting over, tossing away whatever hours and money. Kinda like don't want to stay but neatly boxed in.

There shouldn't be drastic differences in what platform a decently big game is played on, but for a multitude of reasons DBD is such a game. M&K support is not an unreasonable request.

Most of these filters are either done via a GPU driver or via the monitor itself.

Anf both do not change files, they change how the desktop looks in it's entirety as long as you play.

So if you make it more bright during playing and you tab out to open the browser everything will be brighter too.

Me and my Xbox and my old ass TV didn't understand most of whatever you just said! 🤪😂🤣

  • Unenforceable. Most of the filters and such that our PC cousins can use do not mess around with the game files. So their anti-cheat couldn't check for them anyway.

Do I personally think such gimmicks are actual cheating? As a DBD consoler I want to, but the others are correct about most modern games having wayyyyyyy more options built in. So that's on the devs, not on PCrs. And that's without getting I to any accessibility concerns.

  • @Callahan9116 said:

There's a huge difference between skill advantage and mechanical advantages

    This.

Playing as a surv with a controller is for the most part not too different than with a M&K. Swinging the camera around to me feels sluggish and unnatural af.

The big noticable differences come when playing some of the killers. The limitations of using a controller do make some rough to run, and one or two currently are unplayable imo. However the rest of the killers absolutely can be played effectively and well on console, just takes more time to "git gud" with them.

Now when we're talking game/coding performance issues, the differences couldn't be more stark. Especially with something like half of all consolers still on the older machines worldwide.

Thats why it should be an option, I wouldn't mind waiting a little longer to ensure a better game.

A couple of dev Q&A sessions back and in one of the recent surveys they asked whether we'd prefer faster queue times or stricter MRR matches. The community overwhelmingly voted for the faster queues, which is why the lobby shopping/backfilling problem has been so impactful.

  • @Chiky said:

We should have survivors in SWF marked as so in the lobby for both killer and soloQ survivors to know

No way something like half of all survs are in a SWF, and the vast majority of them are two-mans. These groups would be dodged into oblivion and never get a match. This would wreak matchmaking and queue times all over would soar.

  • @Orthane said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/397217/soloq-players-should-have-windows-and-bond-basekit

Then Killers against a pre-made of 3 or 4 players should get Pop and Brutal Strength basekit.

How about a baby version of Corrupt Intervention against those groups instead?

  • @VomitMommy said:

Just use those perks instead if you want them?

It's my most used build for soloQ: Lithe/WoO/Bond/We'll make it.

Those perks are really good and are definetly not something to ever be basekit for anyone.

I can get behind survivor aura kindred, but that's about it.

Yeah a form of Kindred without the killer aura reading part should be base.

  • @Callahan9116 said:

There should be an option for console only cross play. When you are at a higher level the PC advantage is ridiculous.

While I'd like this option as well, it isn't feasible.

Most of the playerbase is on the consoles, so queue times for PC players would soar. However most of the killers are on PC, so surv queue times on console would also suffer.

Also the main reason in adding in CrossPlay in the first place was to unite the playerbase, not divide it.

Because that would force survivors to run DS all the time. Losing 1/4 perk slots across the board. They don't want any perks to be essential, hence why we even have basekit BT.

I'd be for extending the duration of basekit BT a bit, but it should be reduced back to 10s for Endgame.

Ideally I think unhooked survivors should lose collision entirely for those 10 seconds, preventing both immediate tunneling and bodyblocking. Then pre-endgame they could have a further 5s of Endurance beyond that.

Interesting. Worth testing imo, but I agree once the gens are done there shouldn't be any increase in the BT base time.

I believe that now a player’s MMR is considered regardless of whether he plays in a group or not.

I believe that this will help on the principle of a self-tuning system if you set anchors for configuration.

I take a broader view, not just from the perspective of survivors.

There are really good maniac players in the game, you need to select really good opponents for them.

You agree that players in a group have a higher MMR than solo players, but they should also not suffer if they decide to play in single player mode, so separate calculations are needed for each survivor game mode.

From a single MMR rank, I expect the selection of a weaker opponent (against the one that is being selected now), or in other words, the MMR rank of the Maniac is equivalent to the total calculated MMR rank of the team of survivors.

It doesn’t matter to me whether the MMR rank of a single survivor increases or decreases, it’s important to me to assign really working anchors for their more accurate calculation. Which will ultimately help select sufficiently equal opponents

I see only two anchors for adjusting the MMR rank, this is (close to the number of emblem points sufficient to raise the rank, which also reflects the effectiveness of the player in the match) and (the ability of the team in most matches to start all the generators by supplying power to the gate) there may be more of them, but I propose these particular anchors, considering that, from my point of view, these anchors are the most correct for the team to implement all aspects of the game.

I need criticism, please don’t refuse it to reveal the topic completely.

I think they take the average MMRs of any SWF survs when looking for the appropriate killer. Certainly not the best system at all, if that's the case. I'm not sure though.

    This.

Thankfully they are actually reworking maps as we speak. They finally shrank mother's dwelling after like 6 years of it being so absurdly large. If they keep up with this, then the game will be in a great spot.

Smaller yes, which is great, but added in lots of low clutter and los blockers. Makes many of the more mobile killers get snagged on innocent looking debris and bushes etc.

It would have to be done in such a way that it doesn't impede the ability to punish poorly timed unhooks, which is probably not possible.

Proxying, which is often the correct/efficient choice, aggravates this issue.

Well guess what, my teammates are magically potatoes when I come up against her lmao. And SOMEHOW the map is always an open map when this happens. It also doesn't happen to me often but if it's happening to me then it's definitely happening to others. If we put all of that data together then you could kind of say it's fairly common, no?

Couldn't tell you the numbers only the devs have those.

But any killer can focus on just a single surv for whatever reason. When most killers do it they can turn the tide in their favor, or early in the trial to make things much easier on themselves. Tunneling for example can often be stupidly effective, but of course it feels awful for the target though.

However in the case of my beloved Piggy doing what you describe in most cases will cost her the match. The other survs should all escape, and the Pig depip and get few bloodpoints too.

If it's solely to watch that one head pop, well... some people only wanna watch the world burn.

Singularity has quickly become one of the least played killers, which is bad considering he's the 2nd newest killer. On Nightlight, he's 5th least played killer. Though his real pick rate is probably lower since Nightlight mainly uses stats from PC players. Without any change, Singularity will probably reach Twins levels of obsecurity in the future.

Within the context of a game with nearly 3 dozen killers, fundamentally they will have different skill floors and therefore different pick rates. Singularity has one of the highest skill floors we've seen so far, leading to an understandably low pick rate. And that's fine. Hux sits in the same place as the Artist - niche but ultimately fine, even if he could do with some QoL changes, which I will get into on your other points.

The reason no one plays Singularity is that he's too hard. Otz, a player with 11k hours, is currently trying to win streak on him and only averages 3-4 wins before losing, which is extremely low compared to his other killers. This killer is also impossible to play on console due to the need to quickly aim pods. The main issue with Singularity is that it's hard to apply Slipstream while it's too easy for survivors to remove it.

Last I heard him mention it, Otz placed Singularity in B or A tier - by his own admission, Singularity is in a fine spot strength-wise. As for Hux's worst issues, I'd argue they lie in issues with applying Slipstream, not survivor ease of removing it.

Firstly, EMPs should only remove Slipstream on the survivor using it. Given how easy it is to acquire EMPs, it shouldn't be able to mass remove Slipstream. Slipstream is similar to Plague Infection, which is much harder for survivors to remove while also having a stronger effect.

Absolutely not. Under no circumstances should EMPs be made weaker than they already are, with maybe the exception of weakening their removal in chase. Only being able to remove slipstream from yourself makes two survivors working on a gen together entirely unable to cleanse slipstream unless they both get up, visit different 3D Printers, and EMP seperately. I don't need to point out how much stronger this would make 3-gen Singularity, a playstyle I would very much like to stay garbage on my main.

Secondly, when switching to a pod, the camera should automatically face the nearest survivor. This is the only way to make Singularity playable on console. Finally, they need to make it possible to place pods on all surfaces. There are too many situations where you try to place a pod on a perfectly flat surface and it doesn't work.

Whilst I can't comment on changes to Hux that make him more feasible on console as a M&K player, I agree Pods need significant QoL work - many windows cannot be shot through for placing pods, their placement is awkward at the best of times (and yes, your view that they should place more consistently on surfaces is correct), and LoS is considered very strangely for Slipstream application.

The tiniest leaf or other obstacle preventing shots from landing needs to be addressed, as does all the jank pod placements that get denied. This is universal no matter the platform he's played on.

To speak to the fun with him using a controller on console, there a few issues that drive up the frustration.

The camera turning movement feels slow and unnatural, even at max sensitivity. Add in the dead zones in the sticks & input delay and you often just cannot react fast enough to land anything with him. This is also not considering the unstable frame rates and lag spikes that commonly prevail on the consoles, particularly the older machines.

Current Trickster is the only killer I regard as completely unplayable on console, and he is being changed next big update. But Singularity is really really trying to join that list.

  • Listen, I'm so dang slow while crouched, and so low to the ground as well, that surely enough distance can be made combined with line of sight blockers to get away on most maps.

I realize three failed searches are quite the soul crusher, but from my game time with & against her that is not too common to happen. Outside of endgame the Pig is actively throwing the match doing this. You likely will die but your team should all get out unless their complete utter potatoes.

I'm not dismissing your experience, sounds rough, but I have to believe it's kinda rare.

I think the lack of Killers is what borks matchmaking more than anything.

No doubt it plays a part. Time of day/weekend, MMR, and region all do imo too.

  • @UnusedAccount said:

I don't know why lobby dodging is an issue now when Killers always did that in the past. The reasons were just different.

Even if you remove the prestige, Cosmetics or Survivors give yourself away anyway unless you want to quickly swipe at the end.

Their MMR system gets borked badly when it has to backfill due to players leaving the lobbies. Since it prioritizes queue times over strict MMR the resulting trials can be very lopsided. The longer players wait the more open the system runs, until it just grabs the next available player regardless of their MMR.

This is one of the reasons why they tested out not showing prestiges in lobbies a few weeks back, to see the effect on matchmaking. Dodging, for whatever reasons, hurts the matchmaking.

  • @pumpkinmiceTTV said:

I think sometimes people forget that they may just gotten unlucky and got in chases with the killer and as a result

may be sacrificed or may have not been sacrificed

if they were playing a Prestige 0 Dwight or their preferred survivor that is Prestige 100

Though, personally I do think prestige levels, and some other things (like, playing in Anonymous Streamer mode or maybe having TTV in your name) play some kind of role and might lead to some killer plays going the extra mile to put you in the grave faster, maybe not, it's hard to really tell sometimes, judging by how the community can be sometimes,

by the way, some time prior to the Halloween event we just had, I actually had encountered this weird bug where I wouldn't see anyone's Prestige level until the post game, but I'm on Linux, but they managed to fix it like with a bugfix patch approximately some time during the Haunted by Daylight event

That wasn't a bug. The devs were testing out having some of the playerbase go into lobbies with no visible prestiges. Presumably to see the effects on matchmaking. Only some of the players were selected for the testing, not everyone.

  • @TheArbiter said:

I don't get why some people act like hiding prestige in the lobby means you cant show it off, when its literally still visible in endgame

An argument I can see is a player has spent an ungodly amount of time pumping bloodpoints into their favorite character, and wish to flex that for all to see.

Since everyone currently sees the lobby but many ditch the end screen, they may believe they'd loose much of their audience to that flex.

Now if the devs determine with their recent testing that lobby dodging doesn't correlate with the prestiges, then nothing needs to change there. But if the overall playerbase matchmaking suffers because of visible prestiges, well then...

Some monitors come with crosshair options.

If you want to go really low tech, when navigating screens, the circle cursor will always reset to the dead center of the screen, and I've heard some folks will stick a little paper dot or something right in the middle of it for a makeshift aim assist.

Is it cheating? I don't think so. Is it even an "unfair" advantage? Probably not. Is it kind of a "training wheels" crutch that will keep you from getting better? For sure.

That said, aiming with a controller is kind of an exercise in frustration, so I can almost forgive it on console.

I assure you my ol' ass tv does not boast such options! 😂🤣

  • @BabyShrimp said:

Hey guys! It's been a while. I apologize. I wanted to discuss my game mode ideas. These are just my ideas, what I think could be interesting, and I wanna hear what you guys think would be cool too.

First, I think it'd be cool to have a DBD Classic mode. DBD would be like old DBD, but polished a little (less glitches, same mechanics.) I think it would be nostalgic for old players to have the old meta, moonlighting, the funny animations, and new players could get a taste of DBD in earlier stages of development. I was thinking the best DBD version Bhvr could use for this would be just before patch 2.3.0.

Second, a mode where instead of gens, you collect special items that are hidden across the map to leave. Maybe if the killer hits you you drop one. Maybe they're keys and they go in different holes that are across the map. when you find a key the holes get lit up, kinda like special item boxes.

A hide and seek mode where there are no lockers, and instead of gens there's a timer. Given how hide and seek is already a part of the main game this could be really boring, but I thought it was worth bringing up.

A survival mode where you can't bring perks, and you can't heal, but you do heal over time. You can't bring items, but there are still chests. The objective would still be to do gens.

    What do you guys think?

The classic mode idea sounds fun. I'm assuming this mode would include any of the precious few solid optimizations that have come along since then.

I'd be concerned with any return of the older thicker grass as well as the thicker fog, as both were removed for the drastic game performance hits they were, in particular the Switch & the Xbox1 and the PS4.

  • @CatnipLove said:

The more info each side has the more likely they will dodge. Killers will dodge P100, flashlights, toolboxes, survivors sharing the same skins, anonymous players, SWF ect. Survivors will dodge each other for many of the same reasons. All it does is make the matchmaking worse. Killers are the bulk of the problem, although if survivors could see what killer they were up against, they would also be dodging lobbies constantly.

Just remove the pre-game lobby entirely. If you want to show of your P100, do it after the game.

    @I_CAME said:

I don't believe the lobby should exist at all. You should queue up and then go straight into a match. It'd result in faster matches for everyone since you wouldn't be able to dodge as you do now. It would also likely result in at least slightly better matchmaking. Just literally delete the lobby and all of the issues are solved. High prestige survivors just serve to make certain killers dodge the lobby. What exactly is the benefit of keeping it visible is a better question. How much you actually get dodged varies greatly from lobby to lobby but it definitely does exist in my experience. If prestige doesn't matter then why can't survivors see the prestige level of the killer? Oh that's right because we all know every survivor would dodge a P100 killer.

I too would like to see the effects on matchmaking without a lobby entirely. As a side bonus, it would also get rid of that last second swapping bs survs can still do for some reason.

So your whole point is for the devs to just continue to do nothing? SWF continues to get access to free information, voice chat, and co-ordination and Solo remains miserable forever and has to use up perk slots to get that same information that SWF gets for free?

This forum is a damn joke. People constantly complaining while offering no ideas on how to help the situation. Just constant negative responses about any opinion or idea.

From my experience the main advantage of SWF is picking their mates, with the comms part secondary. Teaming up with survs with some game sense and complimentary skills even just solos will give the average killer fits.

It's this ability to choose your teammates and lessen the rpgness of who you play with that matters more imo. Comms certainly midigates certain powers and some perks, but combined game sense I feel is stronger. But the SWF genie is already out of that bottle, here to stay.

I'm all for bp bonuses for facing SWF, and even indicating them in the endgame screen sure. However I have yet to see fair or reasonable suggestions that for the entire playerbase won't crush queue times and/or vastly increase lobby shopping.

Outside of extremely small sample size competitive leagues, there's nothing to really draw conclusions from. To me, you enable a ranked mode and see what happens first. Because most of the balance conclusions people are drawing relate to a 4 slowdown Nurse facing four solos playing on Switch at McDonald's on WiFi, or a full meta 4 man SWF against a Freddy with dream pallets.

We're already talking about restrictions because of problematic matches that wouldn't realistically happen in a ranked setting. That omega sweat 4 stack is probably going to climb until they're running to elite Nurses, Blights, etc. I don't know that we need restrictions if the ranks are taking care of themselves. Again, it's an extremely small sample size, but there has been one tourney to date without any restrictions and the kill rate was 50%. But the player pool was less than 40, so take it with a massive grain of salt.

Anyway, end rant. I'm pretty passionate about a potential ranked mode and comp in general.

The visual of a massive grain of salt tickled me to no end.

For a true casual experience for all parties involved, the first thing that has to go is SWF teams. The entire premise of the game is, "can 4 strangers work together to escape a killer with limited communication?". You know, like a horror movie. Making all perks tier 1 or 2, queue up 5 random people and select a killer from that group, no map offerings, stuff like that would make it more casual I think. Also adding a killer bot for custom matches.

I have to believe at some point they'll have killer bots added in.

What do you think about device disparity?

A typical example is when using Oni, you can turn up to 180 degrees with a mouse, but this is not possible with a pad.

Will Chucky be like that too?

M&K support for the consoles has been asked for many many times over the years. The response is always been they have no plans to add it.

A while back the reasons given were: it would take too much time & work to add it, and require a UI update as well. Dunno if all that's still true though.
