Players who are anonymous have a high likelyhood of giving up / disconnecting likely due to lowering the MMR for the weekend when they play with their friends.
Players should not have to play with these players and be able to identify or block from having to play with them again, this feature also will help the rest of the anonymous community who do not abuse this feature
Block players how? I know of no method to do this. And are you wishing to know who's teamed up? We all know that won't work pregame.
What does any of this have to do with anon mode anyway?

I have no idea how to do it against who are not garbage.
Zoning into dead/weaker areas helps. Bamboozle is good in chase against most too. Tracking perks always do more than players realize, especially late game.
Without seeing your footage it's hard to advise.

In addition to the splitting of the playerbase problem already mentioned by others, what would prevent the sweats from invading the casual side, intending to stomp?

Consolers have been asking for all of this for years and years now.
The thing that gets me is the continued releasing of killers that play objectively worse with a controller. It keeps happening. And that's not even taking into consideration frame drops issues etc.

I don't understand why the first release of this feature needs to be a fully functional slider, that can stop at every 1 degree increment.
BHVR could have just quickly given us a Shadowborn toggle in the options menu (and possibly remove the FoV stuff from the current perks, if they feel it's necessary). Then it would have been fine for BHVR to take whatever time it takes to create a real slider.

I'm expecting ASAP to mean it's actually happening somewhat soon to the announcement of "ASAP". Otherwise, ASAP shouldn't have been the word choice. In all of my entire life, every other time I've ever seen or heard ASAP, it means "it's happening very soon". It's never ever meant "maybe in a few months".
DBD absolutely has its own dictionary.
"Soon" means something like 5-24 months
"ASAP" is about 2-5 months

I use headphones and I can't play with stridor. Im used to normal sounds and stridor just feels worse to play with.
The sounds on some maps are inconsistent for me. Sometimes survs footsteps are too quiet or missing altogether, other times the grunts whole injured are coming from the wrong direction. It also varies which surv is being run too, and above or below me.
I never noticed much sound issues while playing surv, but it's much less vital then.

Correct, an inactive trap will not kill you out the gates.

An active trap will always kill ya through the gates, but not through the hatch. Inactive will not. No add-ons effect anything during EGC as far as I know.

Severly underestimating consoles which haven't had these kinds of issues for a good while, plus if you're somehow still playing on an old system, you need to upgrade regardless and shouldn't expect any game at all to cater towards you
Most of the playerbase is on console, and something like half of that is still on the older machines worldwide. They can still run most games well, often even the Switch, but not DBD.
They're strong enough, just this game's coding and optimization making them sweat and gurgle.

Or his double fatigue bug. Or the shoelace bug. Or the delayed fatigue bug. I never see those get brought up.
If you add all his awful collision issues to that list, on paper no one should be able to run him well! 🤣
I often wonder what survs think is going on when very good Blights pull of some amazing stuff on them. Stuff that likely took a hundred hours to master.

I would love that but I reckon that might cause performance issues. It would be nice though, if we had an indoor map and had some kind of audible storm on the outside. In general I wish they were a bit more adventurous when it comes to lighting.
The event void looks awesome and I think this could make for a very authentic and unique map. Something entirely different and way more pleasent to look at then Borgo (because identifying 50 shades of red is not really fun).
You're completely right about the Borgo map. Following the scratch marks on there is pure pain.

Alternatively track the frequency of players who regularly transition straight to phase 2 from first hook, and punish them specifically with this system instead of giving them a ban.
I'm not saying we should do this suggestion, but if it is implemented newbies would need to be exempt for like 50 hours or trials or something. Given the steep learning curve and wonky matchmaking rookies can get, and dying faster too, they'll need a grace period I think.

@TheArbiter said:
Your experience has been quite different from me but that is to be expected thanks to mmr and region, I suspect the biggest tell of whether or not lobby dodging as a whole has been a huge problem will come down to what BHVR said happened during the prestige test. If they say it isn't worth disabling than clearly the minority was vocal, if they say it had a massive impact and will disable till endgame than we will know it was a huge problem.
I'm also very interested in what the results are, and I'm curious if it was completely random or what.
But I'm thinking they'll do another test round first, expanding on the number of players, maybe to see a larger sample size. Just a guess though.
-
In regards to the replay match idea, they've said a bunch of times such a feature would have had to been originally coded back when the game first came out. It's too late now.
Maybe in a DBD2 if that ever happens.
-
My gut feeling is the amount of dodging that happens is dependent on region and MMR. I have no idea how to track that effectively.

Hug tech removal can mean one of two things: either they fixed every collision in the game to where they work exceptionally consistently, and bump logic Blight will be even more powerful, or they removed secondary collision, and Blight is how he was in the PTB, getting caught on every tiny hitbox. One kills the killer, the other one is a major buff.
Which is prolly why they've not removed it.

Strong killers should be in the game. Many killer players just want to win all the time. On high mmr without these killers you will have hard games. The basic kit of the blight is in perfect order, if it is changed, the character will be broken / incapacitated. Some addons require a little reworking and everything will be fine.
I feel many devotees of Blight are very afraid he may get the Billy treatment. That wouldn't be good for the game at all.
-
The counter is learning to recognize it happening and leaving the loop. Admittedly newer players won't be doing that for a painfully long time.
Blight needs his various collision issues fixed first, which may not be totally possible or realistic, and of course some of his add-ons tweaked. Base is actually in a very good spot. He and Wesker are the best all-around killers they've made. Oh and did I mention fun to play as? Yes, fun.
My only issue with this or most of the "techs" is them being able to be performed across all platforms. But we have so many other priorities well above this one.
-
The last time I saw clamoring against Breakdown was a couple of years back when it was super bugged, permanently breaking hooks.
Those vets from 2016 days can recall having to run Iron Grasp and Agitation each trial to hopefully drag everyone down into the basement. This was due to saboing 99'd hooks that stayed broken the rest of the match.
We are not near that level of messiness. The perk is fine. Hook spawns need looking at looking at wayyyyyyy more.

@Shroompy said:
Lobby dodging should not be a thing, as Im pretty confident that backfilling is the biggest contributing factor to bad matchmaking
Here's what I think needs to happen:
You can no longer back out of a lobby.
Lobby screen completely revamped. Killers can no longer see Survivors in the Lobby and Survivors can see their teammates perks for better coordination.
While in this screen, they are given a minimum of 30 seconds and the additional time is spent loading the game.
If some one disconnects while loading, the remaining players are sent back to the lobby in priority queue.
When a game is over the lobby stays open for 1 minute. You may chose to leave, but the remaining players stay in the lobby and other players with similar MMR are filled in to replace those that left.
If there are only 2 players remaining in a lobby, the lobby closes and they are sent to priority queue.
Interesting. My preference was no lobby at all and just load in to the trial directly. But these ideas are deeper than I considered.
Imo worthy of testing out.

I can imagine myself reading a game review on DBD saying:
"There is one killer and 4 survivors must escape him, however one survivor will be killed off prematurely in order to make the game "fair" for the killer."
Sounds like a chore as the killer and a waste of time as a survivor.
I don't think I'd buy that game .
Sounds like one of those absurdly short movie reviews that encourages everyone to avoid seeing.

(I apologize in advance for the long post! Wanted to get in some examples as to why I think the MMR system is currently struggling)
I have been playing a good amount during the event right now, mostly due to the high amount of bloodpoints one does get during the event right now. But by god... I am not sure if it is the event is causing these matchmaking issues, but the matchmaking needs some serious work. The matches feel WAY TOO one sided right now in many cases, with you either stomping the other side or being stomped in like 3 minutes.
Some examples from my last seven matches:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UBHQ0LHI13YN/mmr.png
The P0 Renato was clearly a new player, as he was struggling with even basic things like knowing where the killer is, hitting skill checks or not hiding in a corner when the killer is chasing someone else. Yet here he is, versing against a very good huntress who landed her shots very well and has a great amount of experience.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0SVQ5Z5OMALM/mmr2.png
This Feng as well: Played rather new, hiding a lot and she waited inside the void for the entire two minutes, doing nothing cause she was mostly scared and didn't know how the even worked as she later admitted in chat. The Oni was a 4k hours streamer who was doing an adept streak.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/XZL7G0QOID02/mmr3.png
The Feng was afk in the beginning, which is why she died with less than 3k points, yet that didn't matter, as the dredge was playing dredge for the 2nd time, not using his power at all in chase and struggling with gen defense. Checked his profile: 30 hours... against a P100 3k hours David
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/XU43Y4RALRSG/mmr4.png
Last but not least, this nemesis, who had 50 hours in the game and never used his power. Only reason why he got a 2k was due to Ada attempting a save in the end game, not knowing that he had noed, which was right next to the hooked Leon.
Those were four matches out of seven I played today and I had a lot of similar games yesterday as well. Am I the only one experiencing this horrendous matchmaking? I hope the answer is yes, cause those matches are horrible when it comes to quality for almost everyone involved and I do not wish such games on anyone else.
Backfilling could have caused these things to happen, and that's usually due to lobby shopping. Without seeing the gameplay that's the best cause I can give.
-
It might be helpful to include regions and times of day with these posts. Maybe even platform might be useful as well.

I don't see this happening because of all the collateral work this change would require. They'd have to redo the hook stage skill checks yet again, rework Deliverance, mess with all the stuff around luck, rework Slippery Meat again, redo several challenges, things like that.
Aren't there achievements/trophies that are also tied to self-unhooking? If so changing achievements on console is notoriously difficult as all hell.
The biggest one would be to rework the recently released self unhook mechanic for Face Camping that they just spent whatever months on.
I can't see them spending those resources to accommodate this change.

Very good suggestion. It's unsettling things that create a scary atmosphere like thunder and lightning in inclement weather, actual darkness, actual fog and somber/grim lighting. The only thing is that a lot of folks in the community are honestly too sissy for actual horror effects, I mean they fall to pieces and raise hell over the most insignificant things.
These sorts of ideas have got two thumbs up from me and would be quite effective at making DbD scarier, and I hope BHvR realizes that there are times when you have to put your foot down in order to make cool stuff happen.
Put their foot down in what way?
-
The Swamps. For whatever reason I have always have done wayyyyyyy better than I realistically should have on them, in either role. And I remember when they were absolutely monstrous in size back in the day. Plus they still have many strange spawns for everything, including a gen dry humping one of the outer walls quite often, and that hatch has a mind of its own on them too.
Take that little boat with a gen on it for example. Even with my meager skills I can bamboozle killers all over such a small structure, even if they actually run Bamboozle. Because of that I nearly always get quick downs around there on killer. It shouldn't happen, but it does.
Visually they look every bit like the last realm not updated yet, but I love em.😍
-
Now that I'm thinking about it, imagine outdoor maps darkened with slashing rain and blinding lightning that makes it so no one can see squat.
But the storm energizes a killer, greatly increasing their hearing & speed. Be good for customs.

You greatly underestimate DBD's coding and piss poor optimization.
Surprising for a Switch player! 🤪
-
This post smells of that high MMR area pov, and only that. Even being generous this applies to what, 5% of the playerbase? It's widely agreed most things are busted at the top, and certainly they do not consider these players first when making changes to the game. Whether this is the best approach is another thread entirely.

What about a speed mode? Where everyone, including the killer, runs at 200% haste for a certain amount of time if they inject themselves with blighted serum placed all around the map. I think it would be fun if there was a combat mode where four players have melee and ranged weapons -- or, even, magic powers -- and can attack the killer like in Friday The 13th.
This sounds like an entirely different game to me.

I have a Switch. And firmly believe it was a mistake to launch DbD on there. Like.. damn is that a not enjoyable experience. I guess at least last gen consoles aren’t that bad? And if rumours are true about Switch 2 even Nintendo fans could be playing DbD next year 🙃
I played DBD on an Xbox1x, the absolute strongest of the prior gen machines, and the performance issues progressively got worse and worse. On my Series X performance was very much improved, but over time many of those same issues began cropping up again. To this day there's maps and status triggers that eat up frames like Pacman.
And our precious Switch cousins, damn I feel they got the rottenest end of that stick. Anyone running killer on those are definitely the real heros.
Pulsar and many others contributed to this forum's biggest thread ever all documenting console issues, sadly to negligible effect. The coding of this game is just not very digestible by any of the consoles.
I've often here said the best decision the devs ever made was to port their game on over to the consoles, and the worst decision they ever made was to port their game on over to the consoles. Still rings true for me.

The event peak players (on steam) is roughly 60k so far, 4k more than a random day in August and 27k less than anniversary. If BHVR managed to undercut those numbers somehow for their biggest event of the year...
No, actually, I won't even be surprised. I've become so apathetic towards these things atp I'll probably just shrug and move on
Too bad we can't see numbers from all platforms. I know altogether the consoles are much the larger portion of the playerbase, but man o man I'd like to view actual numbers for once. To see how the game has and is doing more objectively. 😕
