Dead by Daylight should have casual game modes with new mechanics and rulesets, e.g. 4 killers vs 16 survivors, killer vs killer 1 vs 1, give survivors baseball bats and guns to stun the killer, coordinated survivors can Mori a killer, etc.

More than one killer would run into problems. Two running Nemesis couldn't happen because the game cannot handle more than two Zombies performance wise. There'd likely be issues with performance running all sorts of two-killer combos, let alone four and all their assets. A Switch for example would prolly melt and slide onto the floor trying to run any of this.

And then there's gen spawn placements, the maps would have to be absolutely gigantic to accommodate what, 14 to 28 gens, a hundred pallets, 47 lockers, 89 hooks, etc.

Also no one wants to go against both chainsaw bros, or a sweaty Blight and a sweaty Nurse together. Things like that.

Can you please remove these? I am tired of having a good chase only for it to end because my character jumps into a locker instead of vaulting the window. Esp. Garden of Joy has a lot of them.

I had this problem until I messed with the bindings on my Xbox. I imagine it's even easier to do so if you use a keyboard and mouse.

Sadly there's a couple of binds that cannot be separated, and that should be looked into. Lots of buttons available to use.

Ah okay. I haven’t really noticed this general statement around though I haven’t really paid attention I guess.

btw I am playing on PC, though started with a controller but have switched to M&K despite not thinking it’s as comfortable. But the difference is BIG! And that’s with the same pc and not considering console performance as well..

Borrow a friend's PS4 or whatever and see for yourself!

    Y'all don't really need those 60 frames anyway! 😂

  • I'm surprised a version of Kindred without showing the aura of the killer hasn't been made basekit yet. That's really the only one I could get behind these days.

I used to think a weaker type of Corrupt Intervention was needed, but good game sense has convinced me otherwise.

The error message said something along the line of the server disconnected us. Every single player showed as disconnected. Plainly at least some of the internal mechanisms were aware and able to identify it wasn't a choice on my part. So why, on top of taking all the progress I had on an often-bugged daily and the event tome, did I get a d/c penalty?

Thier system either doesn't or cannot differentiate between connection issues and players manually leaving. So drops no matter the reason all get the same penalties.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Or when you get disconnected from the server mid game and get a dc penalty even though it wasn't your fault... Glad that ones back!

Do you think the servers they use are having a hard time with the additional players for the event?

I'd tend to agree. Not only the face of the game, but the tutorial killer everyone will see when they first play, and quite likely the first killer they run too. Glad they've finally showed him some sweet sweet luvinz this year.

I Respect your Opinion on the Matter. but as the same time we both gotta come to the conclussion that No matter what happens. Hiding Prestieges or not, People will Dodge and that ain't something we can Really do.

Not counting the Random Dc or the Lobby Errors if we Had to take that into account since... Dbd Servers goes Brrrr

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3567622#Comment_3567622

If Survivors would see my Prestiege level as Killer... they'd Dodge cause P100 Clown Goes Brrr,

That and if it Does show what Killer you are... Most chances that if they see a SM or something, they'll Hardcore Dodge that Lobby.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3567709#Comment_3567709

    Ew. Sm...

Jokes aside... those survs were probably soloq and wanted some Decent Teammates to say the least..

Can't always assume a Swf / Soloq till Otherwise,

The servers they use definitely go brrrr look at all the complaints here and elsewhere recently. 😕

So how do you feel about no lobbies at all, just right into the trial?

Most times I ask the response is "I'd quit the game" which I feel is largely overdramatic. No doubt many would stop, but several come back. There's something oddly addictive about DBD, scratches a particular itch like no other.

  • @MikeStev said:

The replay feature is a key to making reporting a hacker easier because the game provides you with video proof, but as dev already said, the current engine dbd is not able to apply such a feature, so its a dead end.

Manually record a video; manual report

And our precious Switch cousins? Their ability to record their trials was removed like two years ago, in the name of "improving game performance." So they cannot provide any video proof. What should they do to successfully report anything?

P100 Feng? That's Cute... but i wouldn't dodge that prestiege cause i want that challenge, no matter the Killer..

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3567473#Comment_3567473

Lobby Dodging has been a thing Since back then.. Even in CoD. League. WoW. Tcm. Etc,

Like it isn't Just Dbd that does this. (But the Entitlement on this game shows it more than others...) Prestiege is meant to Show it off to everyone that You. As a person. Grinded out a Singular Character to p100 and Now you want to show it off, Albeit you might now have a target on your back from that Killer for Reasons Alone,

For me Personally. i hate it when it's Hidden, ONLY due to the fact i use it to prepare myself and to bring in what i Need. Now that it's Hidden (Atleast for me) The chances to face a p100 Squad is Low but Never Zero, But i myself can't know that till the Tally Screen. which sucks cause now i have to Assume they're basically p100 or not,

Sure Lobby Dodging is an Issue but that will Never be Fixed. it will happen even If we hid it from Everyone Else in-game. it will always Boil down to three Factors, which is:

    High Prestiege? = Dodge

Multiple Items of the same Kind? = Dodge

Quite Possibly a Swf? = Dodge

Couldn't it be argued not wishing to face certain prestiges also is entitlement? Just like dodging for whatever reason knowing it harms many many other player's matchmaking might be as well?

I view these tests as them asking "Would doing this improve the matchmaking overall?"

What I'm hoping for in general is others not to view them as "Welp I now have less info to use in shopping around for only the trials I want to play, for my benefit alone and poop on everyone else.". I'm not accusing you of having this view, you may or may not have it. Just the overall health of the game seems more important.

  • @Verconissp said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3567296#Comment_3567296

    That wouldn't work tbh,

The Issue also stems from Players themselves, The amount of Entitlement in Dbd is Absurd to say the least. and if something doesn't go their way they'll complain about it,

Hiding Prestieges would also make it worse on Everyone else. cause then drama will start with "Oh they're Hiding their Prestiege, Must be a Swf" or Vice Versa..

i haven't really heard the Stories mainly of people dodging cause "Oh He'S p100! He'S gUnNa LoOp mE fOr FiVe GeNs!1!1", although i don't believe the 10-20 minute wait times even for that sorta thing..

the people who'd dodge for not showing prestige are the same people who'd find any reason to dodge

too many cosmetics? dodge, they've played a long time

old charms? dodge, they're probably skilled

two fengs? dodge, it's gonna be toxic

    so on so forth.

IF bhvr implemented an actual, tangible reward for reaching p100 i'd be ever so slightly more open to the idea, but they won't so why take the one thing you actually get from it?

unrelated but they also really need to put devotion rewards into the game now, it's very sad that there aren't any 😔

    @Deathstroke said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3567197#Comment_3567197

Overall it's better to just show them than hide. I should not be punished if I want to show it because one player might dodge lobby because some people hide it.

    Think of it this way:

They know lobby dodging/shopping is wreaking their matchmaking, not allowing it's one shot at a fair-ish match. So they make a list of the various reasons why players of both roles leave lobbies.

They proceed to go through said list trying to minimize or eliminate those reasons. But they realize big wholesale changes like removing everyone's visible prestige in the lobby would have instant and harsh backlash.

So they test on a smaller scale and see what happens, potentially softening folks up to the idea at the same time. And also they keep in mind the experiences of the entire playerbase when considering changes, not just the veterans, and definitely not only the sweats.

I myself favor ditching the lobby entirely, load directly into the trial. Aside from helping with the dodging, this squashes so much potential targeting, and neatly kills off the last second swapping bs survs can do. This approach favors the rng-ness the devs love so much while letting the matchmaking do it's thing. But this idea would understandably draw much ire from all sides, perhaps veteran killers the most. The debate becomes is it overall worth it, for everyone?

During a match with Hag today, I got kicked from a match saying I got a dedicated server error. I didn't get any points or bloodppoints while every survivor got several thousand since I had used a bloody party streamer and to top it off, I got a 15 minute ban from playing. Why did I get banned for something I couldn't control like that or even get my bloodpoints??

Their DC penalty system does not (or cannot) differentiate between connection issues or manual disconnects, and treats them all the same.

There certainly has been an unusual amount of posts here and elsewhere about the issues you are describing sadly.

  • I'd throw out a map offering when I'd get an indoor map several times in a row, as I generally despise them all in either role. So breaking them up is nice I agree.

Beyond that the only agreement I can sorta get behind is a few killer builds are absolutely map dependent. That speaks more to certain add-ons needing tweaking than maps, so I could live without them for that reason.

The fault isn't directly with the offerings themselves, it's more the imbalances on several maps that needs attention. That prolly should be the focus imo. Otherwise the offerings would just be preference only, which is the intention no doubt.

  • @Mooks said:

They have stated already that for Sony and Microsoft systems, it’s just completely out of their hands. And since y’all wanna leave consoles, the console owners don’t really have incentive to actually support this.

Now Nintendo/Switch version is another thing, it was already promised to get proper cross progression but it’s put on hold due to ‚technical issues‘ and there hasn’t been any kind of update since forever - this is were BHVR needs to be called out. For Sony and Microsoft I guess it’s time to actually address the issue to them?

    This is a fail assessment.

I'd only add I wish our PC cousins would consider this problem whenever us consolers ask for Cross Progression, frames, optimization, M&K support, etc. Because most of us aren't willing to throw away thousands of hours, whenever monies & cosmetics, all of it because we're neatly boxed in because we happened to buy DBD on a console.

Just saying "get a PC then" is not a viable solution.

Will calm spirit be enough or do i need to use distortion too? Seems unfair that I need 2 use 2 perks to counter 1 if that's true... UW is so OP seems P2W to me (and i'm a killer main)

To counter UW then Calm Spirit will work.

  • @Disco said:

I was in a game vs an Alien with UW and I had 3 tokens of Distortion but when his UW was triggered none of my totems were consumed and he was able to find me in the basement? I thought it worked?

Ultimate Weapon triggers screams. Distortion only blocks aura reading, not screams. You'll have to use Calm Spirit for that.

  • Listen fam I'm a big advocate for improving console killer with a controller, but even I cringed at this thread. I'm not going to go through each of your points, as I imagine this post will be deleted most likely. But here's some of my feedback:

Most of the issues would be mitigated with implementing M&K support. Aside from that, we need more controller setting options to help deal with deadzones in the sticks, input lag, etc. A proper thorough optimization would benefit everyone as well.

I too would favor console-only CrossPlay but I do not believe the playerbase has the numbers to support it. Also the main reason they implemented CrossPlay in the first place was to unite the players.

The issues with Aim Dressing effect all platforms, just console harsher. I agree this should be addressed.

You absolutely can look behind you while running. I know the camera movement feels slow & unnatural, but it can be done. This imo effects killer gameplay way more.

Most of the killer roster can be run effectively on console, if you're willing to put in the time. Not to anywhere near their full potential no, but playable. Yes Trickster and prolly Singularity are unplayable and that they should be ashamed of.

Restricting stuff because someone's on PC is not the right mindset imo. They should endeavor to improve gameplay, not warm it based on platform choice.

  • Oh I wasn't laying this solely on the devs, i know it takes two to tango.

  • @Etherelda said:

Ability to swap killer in lobby, please.

Naw fam their MMR system is tied to the killer when looking for matches.

  • As others have said hook location management is part of playing killer, just as generator spawns must be tracked by survs. I see no need for this change.

What needs looking at is possible dry areas on a couple of maps like Midwich.

  • @Archol123 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/394391/what-if-we-made-map-ban-system

We could just have both sides get the ability to ban stuff so it can never appear and therefore get rid of the most hated maps for both sides... But for some reason we are forced to play on even the most awfull maps...

So a SWF or even just solos would collectively all ban indoor maps for instance, making life quite hard for stealth killers?

  • The problems I see with direct tunneling are:

For killers it is often the most effective thing to do either at that moment or frankly always. It can be the correct thing to do and the easiest thing to do all at the same time.

But for survs we're taking about a feeling you get while it's happening. How tf do you legislate emotional responses like that, to anything fair to both roles? No matter how or why you're on that hook, you just don't want to be the one chased next when you are unhooked.

Where you're hooked, what's around you to use, your own loadout & skill, and the behavior of your allies all come into play here, but at the end of the day if the killer wants you they get you in most instances. It kinda has to be that way when it's a four on one game.

Also sadly here is where I wish there weren't "mains" in this game, just players. I really do think this matters. Playing both roles at least to a competent level I strongly believe not only makes you better at your preferred role, but more likely to be empathetic to both roles and how it feels to play either side.

But I admittedly don't have any easy fixes for this either. It certainly is beyond just solely a skill issue though.

  • @Archael said:

    I thought you was joking.

no, it would not fix the problem in any way. The problem is not visibility of chat, its the opposite - the problem is inability to use chat because of tome and rift tab, that can be accidentally used while wanting to type something in a chat. Removing the chat will not help with chatting.

Btw. There are some people who cant stand having less than 120 fps.

If I ventured into the middle room on Lery's with my ol' venerable Xbox1 the frames would drop into the teens at times! 😂🤪

  • But it would work, no?

Y'all really don't need those steady 60 frames anyway...

  • @lukeneves said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3564534#Comment_3564534

Depends, if they start doing this, more console players will play killer, since it is more balanced when they face console survs. A console killer vs pc surv currently, is in a big disadvantage.

THe same goes for survs in consoles, they would be happier facing console killers.

The biggest factor why there's fewer console killers is due to having to run them with a controller. This makes all of them much harder to learn and "git gud" with, and some of them unplayable like Trickster and Singularity.

Take Nurse and Blight for example. Widely accepted as the best two killers in the game, both are extremely harder to use and master with a controller, even not including frame rate issues, input lag, deadzones in the sticks, etc.

Simply put none of the killers can be run anywhere near their full potential on console. It's not really the survs they might face. Your proposed change doesn't address that at all.

  • Join us on console. No chat box. Problem solved.

I want to know the name of players who have disconnected during the match.

    So, please don't rename bots.

    Thank you.

If 2 console survivors or more are in the lobby = 1 console killer.

What are we talking about here? Restricting console survs and console killers together? This can sorta be done now, if you select CrossPlay off and wait a few hours for a trial.

The playerbase size cannot support this. Most of the players are on console, but most of the killers are on PC. This suggestion would badly hurt queue times for everyone.

Sorry but this is unacceptable. I should not be getting a disconnect penalty when it's the game server that's at fault. If this isn't going to be fixed quickly (i.e. in a couple of days) then the DC penalty needs to be temporarily disabled. This is getting out of hand.

If they have anything in a patch for this, it would likely be out on Tuesday they tend to do updates then. Certainly nothing on weekends they're not in the office.

Bad things happen whenever they do turn off the DC penalties. Every time.

More importantly with a fresh code: we got dedicated servers. A dedicated servers should constantly be able to monitor everything that happens during a match. Anything thats fishy like hooking all 4 survivors in the first 30 seconds, or finishing all gens in 30 seconds should automatically be tracked and forwarded to the support.

Only way i see to get rid of the ridiculous amounts of hackers. Since the report system by itself is still way to complicated to use.

Having the players need to record their stuff for reports is obnoxious. Our Switch cousins can't even do that, they removed that ability like two years ago.

Imagine the forum outrage these days if players could heal up on the other side of a pallet stun, be mori'd after one hook, or be dribbled to that hook in the first place. We'd see pages upon pages on true infinites, permanently sabo'd hooks, old dark cow tree, and original Ruin.
