Killers are not volunteers

With the implementation of the Anti-Face Camp system, the killer's actions are restricted and the gameplay experience is greatly reduced. Could you please add more measures to help killers play the game comfortably?

  • Be prepared to be bombarded by every single survivor main...

  • They do keep restricting killers more and more with zero compensation. No more hook grabs. Survivors getting free self unhooks and discouragement from defending nearby gens from hooked survivors. The biggest thing killers have to catch survivors...speed...no longer being something they always have over the survivor. Etc...

  • please go into more detail as to how exactly killer actions are restricted in a way that the gameplay experience is greatly reduced.

  • ...Yes we are? We're not getting paid for this, of course we're volunteers.

To the actual topic, considering the tactical use for camping - proxy camping to interrupt an attempted save + start a new chase that way - hasn't really changed beyond there being a bit of a radius to be aware of, I don't think much compensation is really needed for the anti-face camp system. It's just protecting against an unhealthy cheese strat making the game worse, which is pretty self-evidently a good thing.

    Yes you are.

You have volunteered to be the challenge that 4/5s of the players signed up to overcome.

    Put it on your resume.

    that's right.

If you don't want to do it, don't do it.

If they couldn't quit, they'd be slaves, or interns..

    Volunteers can quit.

Tell that to Donavan at the Canyon of the Crescent Moon.

  • Camping isn't that much of a loss. It's a bad trade most of the time if the survivors just do gens and go at the last moment.

Also your anology is bad. You might be looking for something along the lines of "Surivors want us to be Dungeon Masters or a bot"

Which is why I think they should add Matchmaking vs Bot Killer. Most of the player base of survivors doesnt seem to wanna play against a human.

  • The new hook mechanic is a loss for both sides. I stopped using hooks a long time ago as killer but now I find them just as bad when playing survivor. Every save has been free and the hook just becomes a deadzone with no interactions anymore.

No danger, no engaugement, no fun, just a boring freebee action.

I do not think me putting "DBD console killer" on my business card is likely to impress. 🤪

  • You have to be physically touching a hooked survivor to enjoy the game?

It demonstrates a willingness to work with broken tools to do the job as requested.

Hard to find that level of dedication in the hiring pool recently.

I'm a nasty killer who hard-tunnels, and that involves proxy-camping too. I'm even biased enough to agree with the general notion of your post.

But anti-facecamp is fine. It only nerfs an ineffective and boring playstyle. You can keep doing what you always did just by keeping a slight distance from the hook. If you don't have a feel for how much is 16m, play some Cigar Box Clown or survivor with Kindred. That's the exact range of these powers.

As with many aspects of DBD, it's all about pain tolerance fam!

  • The problem is that the AFC range is not visible, so the killer always has to be a coward, afraid to get too close to the hook.

In terms of influence, just as an example. If the killer hangs a survivor next to a generator that has almost been repaired (this is the only option when there is no other hanging location), even if the killer kicks the generator and leaves, It is possible for another Survivor to secretly completely repair the generator and then protect the onhook survivor.

In other words, the worst thing about this system is that even though it can't be said that it has a huge impact on the battle situation, the killer is forced to have a very unpleasant playing experience. And the reason this is enforced is ``to prevent survivors from being required to have an unpleasant playing experience.'' This adds to the discomfort.

  • I am saying that the current environment is strange, where survivors with insufficient skills ask for help from the management, and the killer side is forced to bear the burden.

What do you want after you get automatically off the hook? Is it an automatic wake up system? How much support do you need from the system to be able to successfully escape from the ritual?

  • Wait, you're getting paid to play killer?

  • I play killer and never faced camped anyone unless I found them to be aggressively annoying for no reason and still manage to get 4Ks. You should be trying to regress gens and find other survivors anyway and it deactivates in ecg.

If he's not actually a killer, but just an actor playing the role of a killer.

  • The play style required to actually get the anti camp feature to proc isn't gameplay for ether side lol. You can still proxy camp, you can still camp via zoning on maps like resting place, you can still force stage 2 if they wait too long to save, and you can still camp in endgame. This feature has no effect if you're playing killer with the goal of actually winning the match and to not just be a dickhead to the first person you down.

  • You're playing a video game unless it's the job that puts food on your dinner table a volunteer is exactly what you are, and the absolutely overwhelming majority of survivors you go against (all besides full time content creators basically) are volunteers as well.

The gameplay experience of standing in front of a hook doing absolutely nothing? Dude watch a movie if you wanna do that

Can you imagine hanging a survivor on a hook near a generator that is about to be repaired and then having to leave?

Ah, it's no wonder he's so skilled that he can't escape without support from the management.

You should learn more by watching the streamer's videos instead of watching movies!

  • Now that face camping is no longer a thing, I think they should re-add hook grabs as a mechanic. They created some fun strategic scenarios for killers and survivors to have to work around. Maybe reduce the time to self-unhook with the anti-face camping mechanic to compensate so killers can't as easily try to force a trade with it.

There is still no need to stand right in front of the hook... Leaving = being 16+m away from the hooked survivor...

Performing a hook grab removal relies on the overall skill of the survivors being insufficient to counter the hook grab. So it's not possible, please give up.

Problem is if they buff killer overrall in anyway then survivor players would lose their mind.

As killer i do not feel being restricted in any way. I havnt seen single survivor selfunhooking without perk yet in my killer games.

As survivor i escaped from facecamping killer once, but 2 time i was semi-face camped. Killer was just moving around my hook so that they was always near enough to prevent unhook attempt but not as frequent to advance meter enough.

If one feels restricted because new anti face camp mechanic, then something wrong is with those guys.

Personally, i think this mechanic could work a little better, like have longer distance or accelerate if killer is frequently moving in the range.

BTW. all effects should take true distance into consideration, like terror radius, should not be same on both floors if killer is traversing one floor and surv is on another. It should be true distance (except the nurse) - shortest path from killer position, not "distance" on its own.

There's a funny story in Raccoon, where a survivor is hung from the middle hook and the killer can't get through it to the other side.
