Because all takes are biased toward survivors when game balance is already wildly surv sided? People just use this thread to "i want bhvr to make unbalanced changes toward my side because I am bad at this game but still feel bad when I lose"
party pooper

Unpopular DBD opinions that would get you downvoted?
Warning: if a video game opinion genuinely triggers you, don’t read this thread.😂
I applaud you @Venusa. Phrasing it in a way that not only invites people to share their controversial opinions, but also makes them think that they have a perfect opportunity to argue with you. That's the absolute best way to get majority of the community to engage in anything related to this game.
I'm not even being sarcastic. Trying to discuss or debate anything related to this game is a good way to get little or- even more likely- no reactions. However, as soon as it sounds controversial or provoking, it explodes into a entire discussion.
This isn't even intended as a insult towards the community. It's a observation. Any post that says something along the lines of "This meta perk is OP/needs nerfed", "This Killer is broken/perfect", or "There are to few/many Pallets" will get at least a few replies.
However if you say something like "What do you think about this game mode?" or "What do think about this as a improvement?", you'll be lucky to get a comment or two, sometimes just an insult towards you or your idea without any explanation.
So encouraging involvement without actually giving a hard focus for conversation is a perfect way to get many people involved, because now everyone is discussing… or arguing various topics on the same post.
Thank you, you're kind. That was actually my intention with this thread.😉
You can see all these unpopular opinions or even opinions that some people would consider completely wild but nobody is really arguing with each other or trying to prove someone else wrong. People are mostly just sharing their views and accepting that everyone experiences the game differently.
It's been nice to see a discussion where people can disagree without it turning into a debate about who's right and who's wrong.
-
honestly the game barely even looks better 😭 the lighting and character models still look dated, meanwhile UE5 somehow brought performance problems and random physics glitches

Can we make this ugly effect optional please!

Yes, problematic. It's beyond expected that problematic perks would be in the top position, what is even your comment about?
So “problematic” basically just means survivor perks to you, then? 😂
By your definition of “problematic,” perks like Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance, Pop Goes the Weasel, Corrupt Intervention, Lethal Pursuer, Dead Man’s Switch etc. should also get blanket nerfs across the board since they’re in top positions too, right?
Or is “problematic” only a label to you when it’s on the survivor side? -
“Problematic”… ?
More like you watched a survivor perk tier list video and decided to nerf everything in the top 10 across the board…

Me too! It hurts my eyes.

Comms are an advantage because they give survivors real-time information the game itself doesn’t provide. In an asymmetrical game, information is power. Killers are designed to control that. Comms remove that advantage, weaken stealth, and allow perfect coordination. Real-time information is power, and when survivors have access to it externally, it directly weakens killer pressure. That’s not entitlement. It’s basic game design. I’m not saying remove comms, but if one side has that advantage, the other side should be compensated for it. Denying that isn’t an argument. It’s avoiding how information actually works in this game.
You’re framing this like it’s some unique design flaw when it really isn’t. Tons of multiplayer games especially actual competitive ones like Overwatch, Valorant, or League of Legends have players using external comms for coordination. Nobody is asking for “compensation” if the enemy team is on Discord. That’s just normal multiplayer behavior, not some injustice that needs fixing.
Also, you’re ignoring a core difference: killers aren’t on a team. You don’t have to deal with bad teammates, misplays, or lack of coordination. Survivors need coordination to function as a group, while killers are designed to be fully self-reliant. That’s not a disadvantage it’s literally part of the role’s strength.
And realistically, what kind of “compensation” are you even expecting? There’s no practical or reasonable way to implement that. Are devs supposed to detect whether people are in voice chat? That would mean monitoring external apps on someone’s PC, which is a massive privacy issue and completely unrealistic.
Lastly, not everyone in comms is some hyper-optimized squad trying to ruin your match. People play with friends because it’s fun. That’s a normal part of online gaming, not something that needs to be counterbalanced by buffs.
Calling this “basic game design” doesn’t make it true it just sounds like you want the game adjusted to remove a disadvantage you personally feel, which is exactly what entitlement is.
-
@EvilBarney666 said:
I need to ask the devs. Will killers ever be givin any compensation for the advantage comms gives survivors?
Why would you be "compensated" just because Discord and other communication apps exist? This request would sound completely ridiculous to anyone in any other online gaming community. When did DBD players become this entitled?
-
I think at this point it's obvious that killers don’t need genrushing, perks, incentives, MMR, or rewards to tunnel, they do it simply because they can.
-
I honestly have never seen anyone suggest that WoO should be basekit. I’ve seen this discussion come up a lot for Kindred, but never for WoO.
-
“A Place for Us” should grant you and any survivor you heal a 30-second Elusive linger effect, rather than limiting it to just you and the obsession. Obsession-dependent perks have consistently proven unpopular, and survivors rarely use them.

Unless ur purposefully Bring ur ping up there is no way you can have ping higher than 90ping. I can Be wrong. If his Ling was 100 or 150 maybe just bad ping. But 700ping. Yeah I dont think so.
We do have a cheating problem in DBD.
I can be wrong but there is no way he isn't cheating
Anything using bandwidth in the background (downloads, updates, cloud syncs, or even network issues) can cause huge ping spikes. I’m not denying that DBD has a cheating problem, but calling someone a “cheater” based on high ping alone is baseless, in my opinion.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Yeah, this is cheating. He purposely plays on a high Ping to get those Hits through Pallets and Windows, because from the Survivors perspective it is impossible to see where the Killer actually is.
Not sure if BHVR would count it as cheating as well, since they seem to be fine with high ping giving an advantage.
I’m not sure how you can confidently declare “cheating” from a screenshot of someone’s ping.
Yes, it sucks to play against someone with a bad connection, and it shouldn’t be the other survivors’ responsibility to deal with it. But you cannot diagnose cheating or lag switching from a screenshot.
To even argue that, you’d need video evidence showing controlled spikes, like the ping jumping from 50 to 600 and back repeatedly at convenient moments. A single screenshot of high ping proves nothing.
Right now it just looks like bad connection. Declaring someone a “cheater” without actual proof is a stretch.
-
“He hit me through the pallet.”
“He hit me when he wasn’t near me.”
“His ping was over 600.”You described exactly what 600 ping looks like… and then titled it “Is This Ghostface Cheating?”
At 600 ping, he doesn’t need cheats, the server is already playing in a different timeline. 😂

Question was the killer running secret project and Grim embrace specifically or did they use other gen blocking perks with secret project
I'm glad I took a screenshot of that as well! This was their build.
-
Yes, I’ve had this happen too. The game soft-locked for about 15 minutes until the killer disconnected, which finally ended the match. I genuinely thought a hacker was causing it because it was that bizarre. This really needs to be addressed by the devs as it’s literally a soft-lock.

At the same time survivors arent ones to "slow down" on gens etc when they notice the killer having a bad early game/slow hooks. But then again why would anyone want to compromise their fun for others. I get it tunneling and slugging isnt fun to go against but when i see 2-3 gens pop in my first/second chase then i WIL tunnel and slug if needed because why would anyone willingly want to lose. Also lets not forget that flashlights are super broken in chaos shuffle as there isnt a wall at every down or worse a pallet.
Considering tunneling at 2 gens after a bad early game isn’t the same as loading into Chaos Shuffle with a pre-plan to tunnel someone out at 5 gens. What I’m describing mostly happens from the first hook, regardless of gens or pressure.
Chaos Shuffle makes it especially obvious because killers can commit to early tunneling with zero downside.
-
@CatManThree said:
If anything Chaos Shuffle more exposes how much a number of killers suffer due to reliance on specific addons and perks. Like how absolutely miserable Trapper is in Chaos Shuffle without access to at least one of his red addons if not just Bloody Coils specifically.
I get that some killers like Trapper can feel awful in Chaos Shuffle without specific add-ons. That’s a valid issue.
But using Trapper as a shield to dismiss the survivor experience is illogical. A low-tier killer struggling doesn’t justify an entire role having miserable matches. That’s a Trapper problem, not a survivor one.
The playstyle I’m talking about isn’t limited to weak killers. It’s widely used by high-tier killers too Blight, Nurse, Kaneki... High-tier killers don’t suddenly “play nice” out of generosity, they still tunnel just as hard because they can.

It's unlikely that the killer will want to pursue you a second time if you took up a lot of his time before he hanged you.Otherwise, good teammates will prevent him from killing you quickly, and the killer will be tempted to hang the survivor who exposed himself to save you, if everything was done correctly, by this time power should already be supplied to the gate.
By combining Jill and Claudette's skills, you can regenerate health in less than 10 seconds after being unhooked without the help of a partner.
I'm sure there are many more ways than I mentionedNone of what you described applies to Chaos Shuffle or solo queue.
You don’t get to “combine Jill and Claudette’s perks” in Chaos Shuffle. That alone makes this advice irrelevant.
And “good teammates will prevent it” isn’t a strategy. You can’t guarantee coordination, body blocks, or smart trades in solo queue, especially in a random-perk mode.
This is exactly the issue with saying “learn to play”, it ignores mode restrictions and the reality of solo queue. When a killer commits to tunneling, there is no skill-based counter you can reliably force.
-
@radiantHero23 said:
Killers arent guaranteed gen regression and survivors arent guaranteed safety perks in chaos shuffle. If survivors spread on gens, non-mobile killer struggle to keep up. For some killers its straight up impossible to keep up without "unwanted" strategies, when they dont have any gen perks and land on a bigger map.
If the killer drops in and sees a lack of gen defence perks, they will try to slow the game down "naturally". This means tunneling camping and slugging. If they see survivors spreading on gens, they are even more likely to do it.
No side can really be blamed here. Both just try to win. The fundamentals of the game reward these playstyles.
Then why play Chaos Shuffle at all?
If winning and compensating for bad perk RNG matters that much, normal mode already exists with full builds and gen defense. Chaos Shuffle is supposed to be low-stakes and experimental.
Turning it into tunnel simulator just proves the point that killers don’t really need incentives to play this way, they’ll do it even when "winning" isn’t supposed to matter.

If you say there's no counter to this move, you've never played as the assassin. Experiment before jumping to conclusions.
Play as the killer, I'm sure the matchmaking system will quickly bring you back to realitySo, in Chaos Shuffle, what is the actual counter to a killer who decides to tunnel you out immediately after an unhook, injured, useless perks, dead zones, zero protection?
Not “learn to play" or “play killer”… If the killer refuses to drop chase and just wants you gone, what exactly are you supposed to do?
-
@Spicyburgers said:
If you can't do anything about it, that's your problem. Learn to play so that maniacs won't waste too much time on you.
I haven't seen any maniacs complain about survivors starting the generator they were recently chased away from“Learn to play” doesn’t mean anything in this context.
There is no amount of “learning” that lets a survivor outplay a killer who is sitting close to hook, immediately re-commits after the unhook, and hard tunnels with full intent to remove one person from the match. Especially in Chaos Shuffle, where you don’t control your perks and often get zero anti-tunnel tools.
After an unhook, you’re usually injured, in a dead zone, with mostly filler pallets already gone. You’re not making “mistakes”, you’re being forced into an unwinnable situation by design. At that point it’s not about skill expression, it’s about whether the killer chooses to leave you alone or not.
DBD isn’t a game where “learn to play” magically counters tunneling. If the killer wants you gone, you’re gone and Chaos Shuffle makes that more obvious than ever.

This is from today’s PTB 9.4.0. Thank you so much for acknowledging this! I'm so happy.

This bug is still present in 9.3.0 Patch. 📌 It has been broken for 4 months now...
-
Yeah, of course physics matter and it’s a standard in games but in DBD it’s a mess. Every update breaks more stuff, and almost every new cosmetic drops with broken hair or clothing physics. Their ‘fix’ is usually to either turn physics off entirely or make it look worse, just so they can slap a ‘fixed’ label on it, rather than actually hiring someone who knows how to handle Unreal Engine 5 physics.

The initially reported bug is fixed but you broke something else that wasn't broken before. Honestly, I'm impressed how we have to wait for a simple fix to happen for months only for it to introduce another bug LOL.
The back of the skirt is broken now. It looks really bad and glitches out especially when downed and crawling. Please let someone who understands UE5 physics to handle this.
⭕️ Check the pictures below. This is patch 8.3.0.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/83FQMKF0IL97/435345353-jpg.jpg
📌 This has been broken since October 2024.
I hope it gets fixed soon. Please consider removing the unnecessary physics at the back of the skirt and revert its movement to how it was before the Unreal Engine 5 update. The current physics make it look really bad from behind when moving and it didn’t need any physics at all since it’s a pencil skirt. -
This issue is fixed with Patch 9.0.1.
Thank you! 😍
