This happened to me yesterday too one one particular hook on Lery's Memorial on the bigger portion of the map, down one of the big hallways. The survivor I was trying to unhook was close to dying and had 160 ping as well.

I love this proposal: "mafia style suits". I think those would be epic and people would love them. I know I certainly would. There is sooooo much that BHVR could do with male cosmetics, but are just not doing it, for some reason.
Some things that come to mind:
- mafia style, like you mentioned
- outfits like chef, waiter
- onesies! it's a shame we still don't have a single full onesie for a male survivor. Dwight has the dinosaur fit, and I love it, but I want full onesies as well, like Zarina's penguin onesie, and Élodie's reindeer onesie.
- firemen and policemen outfits - I can already see how much people would go crazy about these, especially if you include leather pants
- construction workers
- concert / performance outfits (similary to what Yun-Jin got recently, ported from DBD Mobile)
I'm still waiting for the following styles:
- Samurai/Ronin with swords included on the back of your character
- More summer outfits i.e swimsuits & sundresses etc
- Pirate
- Assassin outfits
These are just a couple off the top of my head.
-
I believe the DC issue coming back is mainly due to the latest influx of new players.

180's are just a guessing game, if you're too close you get rekt, doesn't always work, but when it does it feels good. On PC it's a diff ball game sadly, too easy to do on there.

It feels more like it rewards players for staying in the match rather than the ones who give up immediately though. I'm not arguing it won't work in some cases and isn't a comeback mechanic for those sticking to it, but for the vast majority of survivors who give up on hook immediately they won't stay in the match that long.
That's exactly what is needed to reduce DC'ing.

The problem is specifically this:
So maybe the solution is to give one random survivor a 100% chance to
escape a hook or get off of the floor once all survivors are downed when
there are still 4-5 gens leftMost survivor's giving up on hook, aren't doing it before someone else is downed. It's as soon as they're slapped on a hook. I've had it at 5 gens, I've had it at 3 gens, doesn't matter. They give up for various reasons too. My personal experiences on both sides has been:
- Going down first in the match
- Going down too fast
- Playing against a killer or perk they disliike
- Fellow survivors aren't doing what they expect/demand of them
- Simply throwing matches
- Attempting to lower their MMR
- Making a misplay and deciding to be done
The aforementioned changes would 100% help reduce the early DC rage quitting.
Matches nowadays feel very oppressive and it makes survivors want to just leave as soon as possible, there's a repetitive pattern when someone is on the hook and no one comes for them they are just given one life left, so instead of waiting for it to happen, they decide to quit out of frustration of no one coming to unhook. My change above was just a rough guideline, it would defo need tuning.
-
Maybe the solution is very simple and everyone here is overlooking it.
Everyone wants the DC'ing to stop and give survivors hope even when the game is lost right?
So maybe the solution is to give one random survivor a 100% chance to escape a hook or get off of the floor once all survivors are downed when there are still 4-5 gens left. There could be more pre-requisites of course but I think it's best if the dev's keep this info hidden from the player base to give players this supposed "hope" to stay in the game and hope it's them who gets a chance to bring the game back.
It would even make for fun content for streamers who save the game.
Now for the flip side, why do killers DC? Main issue is gens being done too fast, so the answer would be to force the game to not allow survivors to do 4 gens up until a certain amount of time has surpassed, if it is reached, gens are locked by the entity for X amount of seconds until this time has elapsed, giving the killer a chance to compete, making the mid game interesting and full of chases and making survivors choose other perks and not just 4 gen rush perks.
The power creep would be crazy here though with how perks are currently and can get very oppressive very quickly so this will definitely have to be taken into account, especially things like hindered which reduce chases very effectively against a seasoned killer along with oppressive killers like legion who can effectively have all survivors mending all game.
-
DC'ing from the match could also be the reason for losing the item + addons.
-
@Mandy said:
Did you die still holding the item or did you put the item down, or did the killer have Franklins Demise etc?
I still had the item in hand. I believe the issue could be related to the way the item drops on the floor after you are sacrificed on the hook.

You already have a PvE mode into the tutorial mode but it is very restrictive: you can't choose your character/perks as survivor neither the maps nor the killer to face of. And the bots as survivors are only aggressive on gens. During the chases the AI just wallhack, predrop and crouch (however AI can blind you at a distance of 1 meter like a gigachad !).
But maybe do you think to something else as a 'PvE mode' ?Check the vid above mate, that's more towards what I was leaning towards. It seems it's already in development so Win Win situation. 😅

I've just had a look at this official trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1_DhOrH4DsIt seems similar to how I'd have imagined a DBD PvE to be, from first impressions it seems like a zombie style game. Hopefully it's more than just the traditional 4 player co op though.
It looks very similar to the state of decay series at first glance, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I really hope they deliver and that it comes to console.

From the beginning on I was never against better tutorials, the only thing I ever complained about was making them mandatory, I don't understand how you can still not understand that, after telling you 50 times. I am against it because it is mandatory, and mandatory tutorials are just terrible.
I don't like mandatory tutorials, which is why I am bringing forth arguments against it, I think they are bad design and you should not force people to do them. For some reason for you it is only black and white there are no shades, I'm either in favor of a mandatory tutorial or against any changes that would make them better, that just makes no sense.
The only conclusion is that I don't like mandatory tutorials, as I have stated 50 times, which you apparently conveniently did not read… Also that argument of yours does not make sense on any level, because a mandatory tutorial would affect both sides, so no matter which side I would main the other side would still improve through those tutorials, so how does it make any sense? If a basic tutorial is enough to outclass me on killer I would need to be really terrible at the game, and unless you want to assume that as well I don't really know what you are trying to say other than you're getting frustrated you are apparently losing the argument and therefore attacking me personally (or frame me) as a killer main that is too bad at the game to keep up with players that only did a tutorial to the game…
I haven't been on the forums since the 21st so forgive me for forgetting something you've typed to me almost a week ago.
So because you don't like mandatory tutorials you think it's suddenly unhealthy for the game if it was pushed out as an update? Make that make sense.
If mandatory tutorials are a bad design then prove it, give me statistics which show it's bad for design and affected the game in a negative light, not once but on multiple instances, else your stance is pure speculation.
Forcing someone to do a tutorial consisting of 360ing and body blocking in a quick 2 minute tutorial won't be the end of the world for someone now would it.
Also that argument of yours does not make sense on any level, because a mandatory tutorial would affect both sidesIt makes complete sense, you just don't understand the statement. Most killers are good from the many hours I've played this game and witnessed, most killers for me are usually prestige 25+ as well, today being mostly 50+ from the 10 matches i've played so far, but the matchmaking after the update reminds me of when survivors first started to get tunnelled heavily, people unhooking during chases, not lasting more than 20 seconds in a chase and more. I should not need to party up with friends to enjoy DBD.
other than you're getting frustrated you are apparently losing the argument and therefore attacking me personally (or frame me) as a killer main that is too bad at the game to keep up with players that only did a tutorial to the game…I don't take text personally, no ones "losing" an argument at all either. I am objectively trying to identify why it is you're so heavily against forcing players to do tutorials, your above points have just been opinions with no facts to back them up, like your counter argument about someone making waffles in the back of a class somehow conveyed the entire world doesn't listen to lectures, but then later retracting that same statement.
This is a debacle and not an argument btw, you seem to be taking my comments personally, reading text related to DBD should not hurt your feelings at all.

3 cakes? I will try to make it nice game, if possible.
3 Petrified oeak? That sounds like trying to make unhookable situation, so that's just asking to get bleed out. I am not going to be nice against that, it just screams bully squad.Using something that's in the game doesn't scream bully squad at all, that sounds more like a team trying to be as efficient as possible. Killers already have everything else handed to them currently, wanting them to lose one hook too because of distance wont hurt them too much now would it.

Make it 999.
This is actually a really good idea. It could work similar to the crew 2 with progressive levels (goes up to 10,000 on that game), maybe the current battle pass system could be revamped and each limited time pass from the past and future could be added to this progressive pass. The player would then either be able to choose between completing the new pass with it's 77 levels of the then be taken back to the position they were before doing this or have the pass added on to the progressive pass.
It would also be nice to not have blood points used as fillers in the pass too, new cosmetics for items around the map could be added, it could also be a reason to now make the pass more worthwhile by adding new items for killers/survivors to unlock via the pass like new toolboxes etc.
New AND old players would like this feature, except the players who've been playing since day 1 and have everything already.

About 80% of the people in the world are heterosexual, on average there are more males on earth than females, knowing that it's safe to say most males prefer to hear a woman moaning/groaning/screaming over a male during their long playthrough. Female characters are generally smaller too so there's advantages. Then there's the cosmetic variety to think about. + All the things listed above.

I said that there will be some people that won't do what they don't want to do, it was really simple and you start to make me think that you don't want to understand what I am saying.
The majority will probably listen, but there will always be some special specimens that just do anything else they can come up with, like making waffles... The rate of which people do other stuff increases when all they need to do to pass is to physically be there, and that is quite similar to the tutorial, you can't play too bad to not pass it, so there is not really an incentive to do well or learn something, other than you yourself wanting to do so... Therefore making it mandatory will not make people want to learn something, either they want to do so anyway or they won't...
You quite literally said "Just because you don't pay attention does not mean others won't"... That's pretty much it.
Well it does not really matter if your teammates affect you, because you don't have a right to have a good teammate... Playing bad is not reportable so if they don't want to get good that is fully in their right to do so. It sucks to have bad teammates, but that is nothing you can blame on anyone but matchmaking, for all you know those guys tried their best.
Explain to me where me suggesting a better tutorial with better incentives for better teammates for better quality of gameplay, service and better enjoyment in general affects you in any way?
You're fighting a point so damn hard like it affects you when you already play the game, if you're fine with the game how it is then this change does nothing but make the game better.
The only conclusion is you main killer and refuse to get better yourself.

The refund on steam is accessible with a playtime of less than 2 h as far as I am aware. Also the tutorials for both sides involve playing a game with or against bots, which already makes it a bit more than just 5 min.
If people don't want to learn the game then they won't learn the game... Forcing them to do anything changes nothing... I really don't understand why you find this so hard to understand...
Well mine is excellent as well and people still made waffles in the back row... I'm not saying that nobody did, but a big part of people will just sit through the time, get the paper that says they were there and then leave... It is what it is, people that don't want to learn something will not do it.
It is not what I am saying, and it won't magically become what I said just because you insist on it. If peoples attention span is high and they want to learn the game, they will do so... Tutorials are there for them in case they think they are helpful, otherwise they will use other sources they think would help them. Also I am not assuming people don't pay attention in lectures ^^ The guy making waffles was literally there... It was fairly obvious that he was doing anything but listening, especially since he had headphones on... Once again, the people that want to learn will do so in the way they seem fit, so making better tutorials makes them more attractive for those players, bloodpoints and other rewards make them more attractive for those type of players. Making it mandatory will not suddenly get people to learn something they apparently don't want to learn (in that specific way).
Well that's a silly assumption to get personal here is it? ^^ Who says I don't pay attention?
If the tutorials are better designed and more helpful maybe it will help? Especially considering the current tutorials are so bad I have no clue what you expect people to learn from them? You think people don't play the tutorial for some reason, but why? Because last time I did them they were horrible and taught you basically nothing of relevance? So how do you assume they are bad because they didn't do them? Maybe they did do the tutorials, but they are still not decent at the game because the tutorials just suck.
I'm not suggesting to keep the game the same... I said they should make better tutorials, more of them and reward players for doing them. This is not the same as it is currently, that would be a big change. They should also somewhat up the rewards considering the mass of stuff that would be in there... For example quick guides for each killer would eat up so much time and people should get a decent reward for it.
However I stay with the point that mandatory tutorials are not the way... People that don't want to learn through them won't and it is just not a good idea to force people to do stuff they don't want to... Especially in this case where it effects nobody but them and their progress in getting better.
If tutorials are not sufficient enough how will they ever learn the game up to todays standard? So you're equating the people that made waffles in the back row to the entire world now when it comes to Universities? Make that make sense.
Also I am not assuming people don't pay attention in lectures ^^That is exactly what you did though:
Expecting players to actually pay attention to the tutorial because they are forced to do it is like expecting people in lectures to actually pay attention just because they need to be there... And if you have been to university you know that people will literally do everything but listen to the lecture...My counter argument is never personal, it's objective, usually given with facts witnessed by myself and/or others. And I never said you don't pay attention mate.
The points you are making about BHVR having bad tutorials are one of the same justifications for me making this OP. They need revamping to fit todays standard for the game.
I do agree with you that due to the new structure of prestige's, the rewards do need to increase for the tutorials to reflect them, 50k is far too little, even though the knowledge is the real reward for a tutorial, they should all collectively give the player 1m+ BP.
Especially in this case where it effects nobody but them and their progress in getting better.
I would have to disagree with you on this point because it affected me in 30 separate games minimum. Thus reinforcing why I want tutorials to be mandatory. The game is not enjoyable to play SoloQ in it's current state anymore. Might be time to delete it once again since XDefiant is releasing later today.

First of all I am against forcing players to do lengthy things before enabling them to play the game... A tutorial that big to cover all the stuff, probably forcing them to do it for both sides might take enough time so they cannot even play a normal match before the time window to refund the game is up.
Based on your statement that players currently don't do the tutorial, because they are so bad you cannot expect them otherwise kind of means the current rewards are not enough to motivate them... Which is why I started off by saying maybe give them something more.
It also seemed to me that mmr was turned off in the modifier... At least when playing killer I had that feeling.
You still did not explain why you think making it mandatory would lead people to do them in a way they would learn something while doing it? That is not a give consequence... Players don't have to learn or understand what they are doing while going through a mandatory tutorial, they only do the current task and probably do something else while the game explains them why they did that... Expecting players to actually pay attention to the tutorial because they are forced to do it is like expecting people in lectures to actually pay attention just because they need to be there... And if you have been to university you know that people will literally do everything but listen to the lecture...
I'm not against players getting better, but that is not what the tutorial is for, it is supposed to help them get the basics of the game and from that point onwards to be able to learn how to get better. And making tutorials mandatory will neither help them get better nor have a reasonable effect on the amount of information they gain, because they simply would not pay much attention to it.. The only people who would gain something are those who would do the tutorial anyway, no matter if it was mandatory or not... So you basically gain nothing by making it mandatory.
First of all I am against forcing players to do lengthy things before enabling them to play the game... A tutorial that big to cover all the stuff, probably forcing them to do it for both sides might take enough time so they cannot even play a normal match before the time window to refund the game is up.This is a HUGE reach, currently survivor tutorials take around 5 minutes. Free trials usually last any where between 1 hour - 7 days and DBD has multiple free weekends.
If survivors want to play killer they should be forced to do the mandatory killer tutorials and vice versa.
You still did not explain why you think making it mandatory would lead people to do them in a way they would learn something while doing it?ANYTHING is better than what is in place currently. Your suggestion of not making it mandatory changes absolutely nothing after the change. Giving better rewards for the tutorial does not force someone to magically want to start concentrating on it better either. At least with my suggestion they've done the tutorial so they have somewhat of an idea rather than 0 knowledge at all.
And if you have been to university you know that people will literally do everything but listen to the lecture...I have, and that statement is false, maybe in your University nobody paid attention but in my reputable one they did.
I'm not against players getting betterThat's exactly what you're saying. You're assuming players don't pay attention to tutorials just like you assumed nobody pays attention in University lectures, in the exact same way you're assuming no one would pay attention to a new game they picked up, especially since it's a new game so their attention span usually is at the peak.
And making tutorials mandatory will neither help them get better nor have a reasonable effect on the amount of information they gain, because they simply would not pay much attention to it..Just because you don't pay attention doesn't mean others won't.
I am suggesting new tutorials to make the base player better and by forcing it to be mandatory if they want to play on that side and yes rewards would be reflective just like they currently are, which WILL make the player base better and no it will not affect the free trial as much as you're assuming.
You are suggesting to keep the game the same but make the rewards better with the new tutorials, which makes 0 sense because in the game currently your proposed method is already showcased and clearly it's not effective enough.

And you think people who would not do the tutorial otherwise will pay attention when they are forced to do it?
It should exist, but you should not be forced to do it, but instead rewarded.
Tutorials do already reward you for doing them so that's obviously expected and doesn't need to be in this discussion.
From what I've experienced these past 30+ games alone in Solo queue since the new event started, tutorials NEED to be enforced because survivors lack basic understandings of fundamentals expected from players that's been gained throughout the years.
IDK if you're on PC or not but on Console I've never raged so hard in my life than I have in these past 30+ games and I don't even mind carrying noobs, EVER. Enough is enough.
Mandatory tutorials make the core community better because they have to learn.
You're against players getting better?

If those tutorials were up to date that would be debatable, but considering how little they teach you and how many things are still unclear after I don't really think they serve the purpose of "bare minimum" and I generally think forcing people to do that stuff is not the way to go.
mate, that's the entire point I made with the post…
New players NEED to understand the core mechanics, there is no point revamping a tutorial if no one does it.
This game is centred around team mechanics, one survivor lacking because of basic knowledge and it throws the entire game in half the cases.
-
@Archol123 said:
The tutorials should be better for sure, but I don't think people should be forced to do them, however rewarding them would be nice… Like some bp or shards or something like that… maybe even a steam achievement? Or a bit of lore… Some motivation.
There's already a system in place that forces you to do the basic ones, you already are rewarded for doing it and yes you should be forced to do the bear minimum to learn to play the game as most people skip it and never look back which is very unhealthy for the game.
That's not asking for much at all.

I disagree, I'm pretty sure for most people its the disrespect more than anything. Which adding new emotes would only make worse.
DBD has had 2 emotes in almost 8 years of it's existence.
How can survivors communicate without it being disrespectful when killers connotate crouching and both emotes and waiting at the exit gate to being toxic? The answer is that they can't.
There is no differentiation.
This constant lingering about it being toxic is starting to sway heavily on the creation side of the game. DBD should be further down the line than it currently is.
If a killer would rather watch the same old boring stuff at the end gate and connotate it to being toxic and deprive the game of a healthy update and continue to express how it's toxic and then shut down any suggested changes, then so be it.
Me personally, I would do the following:
- Remove BP gained at the exit gate so survivors and killers can't benefit once they enter through the gate (this makes it useless to stay)
- Add new emotes
-
mix that with the faster zombies addon and zombies are faster than survivors lol
-
As long as zombies don't appear around hooks like a local gang I'm all for it.

I still don't see the point emotes in games where it's team vs team are usually used instead of teabagging. Yes I know some games have emotes but their not entirely used for toxic reason an old example for me is Overwatch but that's also because you were stuck in the emote you couldn't snap out of it. But still most emotes your just move an inch your out of it. So as I said emotes wouldn't help.
The action isn't what annoys you, it's the repetition of the action, else you would've been annoyed the first ever time you experienced it on DBD.

I think adding emotes would just make it worse.
Look at it from this perspective:
End game survivors waiting at gates and crouch spamming.. you hate that right?
Why? The core reason is because it happens every single game right? So that means it is because it is repetitive, when you first saw it you never took notice of it, until it happened over and over.. this is why emotes would be perfect, emotes that make you laugh would be even better. It would instantly take away the frustration and put you in a better mood.
Trust me!

Forgive me if I might miss your point but isn't this already in the game? an oppressive mender wouldn't have much of a difference with these changes since in my perfect world (not perfect) it would only affect healing, not mending. Although I do recognize and share a similar hesitance around say a mend legion which is why I think they should compensate healing perks like botany with mend speed increases
Of course it's already in the game which is why it's a subject.
Everything that changes with healing usually means mending needs to be taken into account or it can be very obnoxious.
They reworked healing not too long ago, nerfed it across the board and medkits took a heavy hit overall. The tier system for med kits is a good idea but I doubt they would be proposed to changing the system up so soon, probably in the next 2-3 years or so.

I don't view mending and healing as the same action, and I don't believe the game does either unless they pushed out a monster patch that tied them together.
As with perks like botany I view the previous form of botany (33% increased heal speed) as my personal favorite form of botany, maybe not the efficiency bonus as even though it makes logical sense, I believe botany shouldn't aid item efficiency instead it should boost just heal speed and by chance if instead of gutting it what if they added a mend speed bonus? its not a perfect replacement for the 33% item efficiency bonus, but it would be an effect no other perks have, while also making desperate measures sit in place again as now DM is sorta pointless to run compared to botany save for the unhook speed boost
I don't view mending and healing as the same actionAnd that's the problem. Mending can be VERY oppressive when built around correctly.

With all the changes to gen repair, regression, camping, hook sabotaging, base kit anti tunnel, I feel like healing should be one of the next things to get a reshuffle or at least added mechanics.
First of all, medkits. I think it is really confusing how every medkit is the same medkit but with less than a quarter second faster healing modifier between each one. I think bhvr should rework medkits again, give them unique properties once more like the ranger medkit having enough charges for two altruism heals, not too quick but you get two of them. The emergency medkit should have an effect like survivors dropping half the blood for ten seconds next time they are injured, or having scratch marks fade three seconds faster for a short time after they're injured again. With all the toolboxes getting additional sabotage buffs and at green and purple rarities there are two toolboxes, I think medkits need a bump up to altruism and restore self healing back to 100% (more on that later) but all in all just freshen up medkits.
and secondly I think healing in chase needs to be nerfed or limited. I think there should be a "Chase Pressure" penalty in chase, and have a lingering effect outside of chase, sorta like clown's perk which increases skill check speed and reduces heal speed. I think self healing should be capped to 80/85% while in chase and altruistic healing capped to 125%, and maybe add a small fraction of the skill check speed increase.
I like to theme it around you know, the bloodthirsty murderer is right there, you can try patching up but you'll do it less effectively and more sloppy. I feel like this plus the lingering effect would prevent the return of the mid chase green medkit heal, which is why I think passively after like 20 seconds medkits should heal self at 100%, but still make it so that no matter which medkit, basekit you still only get one self heal to balance it out so you should feel more inclined to use your first responser all you need medkit on your allies instead of burning through supplies on yourself.
I understand this just seems like "medkits should be buffed, healing in chase should be penalized" but I do feel like that's what we could use right now. Because when botany knowledge outranks any need to use any medkit for altruistic healing no matter what rarity and almost no matter what addons I think there might be a problem. To harken back if healing speed is really an issue, I think medkits need side abilities instead of speed. Brown medkit can stay the same as right now, regular first aid kit can have a survivor noise reduction temporarily, emergency medkit reduces blood frequency and ranger kit is more heals or an effect like 10% reduced entity summon rate for 60 seconds (not on hook, but just overall in case you get hooked within the minute)
I want to know what others feel about it or if I might be missing some key detail I could be blanking on just because I think survivor items are incredibly stale right now, so feel free to chip in.
With all the healing nerfs that have already happened, if another rework on healing were to take place it would also mean the gutting of perks like botany knowledge (once again). Might as well just remove the perk from the game at that point. It's good to have a healing alternative without having to rely on a 1 charge medkit. Just imagine your changes vs a spam mend build, no chance.

no, once you do it once, it's closed until you open it again
Then the above isn't even an issue tbh because there is a way to stop it completely that already exists in the game. It's optional at this point.

It isnt always nececarily used to be toxic. With your example it could have the survivor could have done it to distract you and help the other survivor escape. I am not saying it isnt always toxic but it can still be used in ways that arent toxic. The spamming to reveal a fellow survivor is a #### move though.
it could have the survivor could have done it to distract you and help the other survivor escape. That's exactly why I do it sometimes. I won a game VS the sweatiest nurse known to man doing it to, so it just goes to show how much a good nurse relies on a headset.

I don't know, I mean sure it would be quite annoying to have to do that, but then again dbd has quite a lot of accessibility issues… So this would just be another one for the list… Next to inability to turn of text chat censor, no replay mode and many more.
They've gotta start working on the list then lol

But you can already do that? You just click on the small symbol to the right and then chat is no longer visible.
Does that need to be done every single time the game ends though?
If so I can see that not really getting rid of the problem

Instead of all that, just give PC players the ability to turn the chat off.
Problem solved.
