  • Or you can save yourself the stress by playing Alan Wake instead of a facsimile of it.

  • Another Freddy rework? XD I keep searching for reasons to start playing again and they're never going to materialize.

Because the killer will do everything in their power to tunnel you out, or camp you on hook in end game.

If it's endgame, what else should the killer do? Going for another survivor is risky -- you aren't guaranteed to get the down. So the safest option is to just defend the hook you've already got and confirm the kill.

If there's only two left, the killer has no choice. Any more than that and they're pissing in the wind. Camping for one kill at any point in the match is like scoring a touchdown with no time on the clock when you're losing 42-0. Now it's 42-7. Good for you :)

I was not expecting sadako to go from being relatively alright in terms of strength to one of (if not) the worst killer in the game.

That "power meter" mechanic looks horrible to play with on paper so I'm guessing it'll be extremely unfun to use in game, literally the exact same as overheat - being punished for using your ability a lot.

Still no buffs to her chase either which is what she desperately needs.

This should be expected with this game now. BHVR is going to continue to alter killers, sometimes the same one multiple times, trying to make everyone happy. There's virtually zero competition in this genre so they can keep doing it with smiles on their faces and "golly gee whiz thank you community!" posts. Way too many frustrated players refuse to move on from this game which exacerbates the problem.

  • "While whole community crying about tunneling"

I don't see a reason to continue reading. This is a bad faith post and OP knows it.

  • Why are players doing this crap? If you have to question if it's a toxic and stupid thing to do, that means you shouldn't do it. It shouldn't be too much to ask of people to just play the game.

  • @Krazzik said:

It really annoys me but for the sake of trying to win the match I'll usually still unhook them. Solo queue is miserable enough without throwing the game for something like that, and thankfully I don't see it as often as I used to.

If I'm not in a good mood though I may well just leave them to kill themselves on hook, it's pretty much deserved anyhow.

You don't need people like that. You're better off playing your best, taking the L, and moving on.

  • @Laurie268 said:

Because it’s fun? What kind of answer were you expecting? And if you let them go 2nd, you’re also hurting your own chance of survival

If I run across the map to rescue someone and if they wait to unhook themselves, I'll leave. Successful or otherwise. You're talking some nonsense about "own chance of survival" without recognizing how stupid it is to do that. Because it's fun? No, it's selfish and utilizing poor tactics. Now you've wasted more time that could've been spent on a generator.

  • @TheSaltySaloon said:

I live in Japan so maybe it’s different then US

That's really interesting. I'm sure that has something to do with it. Some characters are going to be universally used because gamers feel entitled to win and have a lust for it. However, I would like to see a breakdown of characters used in different regions.

  • It's not going to happen. Not because it's something that should be fixed, but because it's in the list of arbitrary rules BHVR made up about their poor gameplay design and the usual sycophants will chime in and call it a "legitimate strategy".

Good killers win by attrition. Lazy killers try to "win" using the shopping list approach.

Removing BP does NOTHING do you think the people who did basement bubba care about BP? All you're doing is hurting killers who need to strategically tunnel. I said Incentives not deterrents in this very thread there being constant deterrents is exactly why the game is in the position its in tunneling will ALWAYS be the correct thing to do if you want to win no matter if you like it or not (you don't have to tunneling isn't bannable)

Strategically tunnel? XD That's a very diplomatic way of saying lazy. Tunneling not being a reason to ban someone doesn't mean as much as you want it to. It simply means it's not against BHVR's arbitrary set of rules.

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

I am by no means an expert in programming, but why is it so difficult/impossible for BHVR on their end to run a program that detects if a player does something that they shouldn't be able to do in a match (based on their perk loadout) and then auto-ban based on that? Seems like a way easier solution than this ridiculous, time-consuming process where the burden is all on the players to do the reporting, but hoping people smarter than me can explain why this solution won't work.

BTW, I don't think it's just paranoia. I frequently run into players doing things they shouldn't be able to do in matches. Most frequent is subtle changes in speed as survivor is running in a straight line, scratch marks non-existent or randomly disappearing, or getting ridiculous amounts of distance after losing line of sight.

It's not impossible. Like most developers, they send that responsibility out to a third party. There's YouTube videos of people showing off their cheating. A lot of killer bots, aim assist, wall hacks, and they don't ban the account. BHVR barely lifts a finger for blatant racism and anti-LGBT VIDEOS UPLOADED AND READILY AVAILABLE. One dev used the weak excuse of the video being on YouTube so there was nothing they could do...

This game has attracted some of the worst dregs of the gaming society in the last few years.

  • @Nick said:

Where is the killer supposed to go after all generators have been repaired? Check the open gates so you can get your free escape? Or maybe patrol totems? What..?

This is exactly why the meter needs to stay or DS and OTR need to remain in the endgame. If 4 survivors are still alive when the generators are completed, it was a tough match. It happens to everyone. Getting one kill during the endgame is like scoring a touchdown with no time left on the clock when the score is 28-0. Now it's 28-6. Good for you :)

Deduct Blood Points if you target the same person off hook within 60 seconds. Killer already has an easy accumulation of BP compared to Survivor so let's make it impossible to attain like a Survivor that gets tunneled.

This is the only valid answer to tunneling and camping of any kind. If some chucklehead wants to wander around the hook, chase immediately after being unhooked, and continue to lose points, that's their prerogative. If people are going to be lazy in their playstyle, it should never be rewarded.

  • The only change Decisive Strike needed was making it work before you were hooked. The "dribbling" was awful for all involved, including the killer.

Anyway, it needs to go back to 5 seconds and it needs to either work during the endgame OR remove the "conspicuous" action and keep the endgame disabling intact.

  • They should stop nerfing, buffing, reworking, and releasing everything for at least 6 months and let the game breathe. There's no way to tell if anything is actually working as intended when there's a new chapter every quarter and PTB every 3 weeks.

  • Why do so many people want so many changes? It's especially egregious when it's things that have been changed several times.

  • @AzshFayd said:

Majority of the time I see a survivor get saved before being able to kill themselves on hook, they then proceed to run around the map and drop all the pallets. One Ace I saw once ran around and cleansed all the totems because the Mikaela who saved him was using boons. That's worse than them just being gone imo

You can very clearly tell when a someone just wants out. Let them. I wish stats were available for the game from release until 2020 to see how many disconnects there were per every 10 games. So many aspects of the game became such a chore that I found myself wanting to quite playing both roles so I stopped playing entirely.

  • @Murgleïs said:

I returned to DBD after ~8 months and bought him with the legendary skin.

He (she) is very fun to play, and all the survivors I go against say they had fun too. It’s probably because I use plaything, monitor and abuse and the addon that reduce the TR and people like this jump scare playstyle.

There are definitely loops that hard counter him. He also lacks mobility so it’s easy for survivors to gen rush on big maps so if you nerf his chase power he will become very bad. No mobility and no chase power is the best recipe for a terrible killer.

Tbh I don’t understand why you ask for feedback here, last time it happened it was a disaster for trickster. Listening to the forum is the worst strategy for player retention. See what happened with dead hard for years defending the broken perk "just bait it out" and people complaining about tunneling / proxy camping. Have a private discord and listen to good players that play both side. Like if you want to improve Singularity ask One Pump Willie for exemple.

You're asking them to gather empirical data over a lengthy period of time, measuring it against match statistics and using it to decide what, if any, changes are needed. That's absolutely the right thing to do and it'll never happen.

  • @GeneralV said:

    Some of them are fun.

Chainsaw-only Billy is fun, Jump-Scare Myers is fun, the old Spooky Freddy build was fun, Bamboozle Nurse is fun (haven't seen anyone do this meme since, like, 2019 but it was pretty funny) and this list goes on.

It mostly depends on which killer we're talking about. A Trickster that, idk, never uses a basic attack would still be unfun to go against.

I LOVED the pre-rework Freddy. I also loved release week Freddy. That was when you could string together putting survivors to sleep and it was only 5 seconds I believe. He lasted all of one week before the very loud minority became too much to ignore.

Anyway, I had so much fun sneaking around. Survivors couldn't see him and the lullaby wasn't directional. I "lost" a lot of matches just running around putting people to sleep and chasing them off generators. It was also fun tracking them with the aura reading from a distance. Original Freddy was just fun to play and I was entertained.

  • Another strength of F13 was picking the killer from the pool of players in the lobby. Everyone has to be on their toes. It removes the ability to coordinate and plan ahead which defeats the entire premise and purpose of the game. It's also not perfect because if you're in their with friends it lead to problems but there must be a good way of mitigating that.

  • Whomever is in charge of the decisions to change killers.

  • @AbsolutGrndZer0 said:

Okay, then start showing us the Prestige of the killer and who it is, because I don't want to sweat either.

What other multiplayer games keep the identity of any player a secret until after it's over? That's not rhetorical. Of the games I play, this was the only one that does that.

We don't need to see what killer is going to be used, but we definitely need to see the username at a minimum.

  • With respect, does any of this current feedback matter? There's no shortage of precedents dictating that some or all aspect of this character will be changed at some point anyway.

  • It's a good idea but it'll never happen. It can't be overstated that SWF was, is, and will always be the biggest problem in the game. I don't understand why there aren't separate modes for 2-4 teams. I can't believe they allow 3 to join with one random. So many matches playing as killer or a solo I've seen a team of 3 play so poorly and so selfishly. Back when the hatch could spawn before the endgame, I'd see teams of 2 use a key and leave and screw over the others.

  • @Chaosrider said:

I never really understood why killers are so heavily rewarded by BP offerings of survivors but can entirely negate any benefit for the survivor(s) by tunneling, camping and slugging.

"Something something vALiD sTrATegEeeeE"...Hint: it's not and exactly because of what you said.

  • @Toaster427 said:

Patch after patch, same old boring perk mechanics, or perks that literally nobody is gonna use.

This upcoming patch especially is just awful, it's like they spent a total of 5 min slapping ideas up on a whiteboard and then called it day.

Will survivors ever get anything exciting? It's a survivor only release DLC and the most exciting thing is the killer changes? What gives? The last exciting chapter for survivors was Mikaela...that's how long it's been..

Just really starting to wonder if BHVR is just completely focused on killers and nothing else in this game.

Like you all do know it takes 4 survivors to play a match right? Mayne toss the majority of your players a bone once in a while? Is that too much to ask?

I agree with everything you said. There's just one problem: SWF. The root of every problem with any perk, add on, killer power, or map had been because of a SWF group abusing it. BHVR has no choice but to try and caudle players who only use killer and punish survivors who only or mostly play solo.

I haven't played in months after having this game since late 2016 because of these ongoing problems. You have people in this forums defending lazy gameplay with their lives now.

  • Nothing they do is going to work until they implement a point deduction for every 1-5 seconds spent inside 16m and not in a chase or using insidious. With kindred, you can see when some goober stands still before they fade. Even if you don't have it, when it's been nearly a minute and no one else is in a chase, if should be assumed the killer is being lazy.

  • @Chaosrider said:

The Community always demanded some kind of unbreakable basekit mechanic to deal with this issue. Your idea is pretty interesting as it isnt just picking yourself up. But devs are just as neglecting as on tunneling and camping.

The biggest flaws in the game design are the hooks and slugging. There's a point where you're 100% reliant on someone else going out of their way to allow you to continue to play. It's so disappointing that F13 and Evil Dead are gone because you're at least in control of your own destiny most, if not all, the entirety of the match.

CoD zombies is the closest I can think of, and a game I play, where you do rely on someone else to save you. However, it doesn't take 4 friggin minutes for you to die. When the ranking and matchmaking had some semblance of competency, allowing people to bleed out hurt your ability to move up and gain points. It was recognized as an unskilled way to kill someone. Tunneling also didn't do much for you as killer. Yeah, you got one maybe two kills but you didn't rank up or get a lot of points. It's not a valid strategy.

Now all of that nonsense is rewarded and practically encouraged.

  • @OrangeBear said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3628792#Comment_3628792

You got tunnelled. Tunnelling is a strategy to win, eliminating survivors as fast as possible slows the game down. It's explicitly not against the game rules. Just because they tunnelled you doesn't mean they tried to ruin your experience, it could just mean that they were trying to win. Survivors using combos like ftp and buckle up are just trying to survive, they are not doing anything wrong.

Banning for that is unfair because they are doing their job, killing survivors. Tunnelling being unfun to play against is the game's fault in my opinion.

Tunneling is not a "strategy". It's a lazy technique use by players very weak in chases, hunting, anticipation, patrolling, and well, everything that makes a good killer.

  • Sure, but with actual consequences like losing points for every 1-5 seconds spent inside of it. Losing the regen of a special power, something, ANYTHING.

  • @Astel said:

Sir, it is anti facecamping in first place. It was meant to stop facecamping, not proxy camping.

Proximity camping should be next. It should be the 16m radius of Kindred. Laziness should never be rewarded or regarded as a "valid strategy".

This is what a forum is supposed to be, leave if you don't like it. You're just being close minded.

No, it's not. If the amount of unnecessary changes hadn't been made like they have at this point, you'd be correct. However, in this instance, you're not. It's begging the developers to change something to make it easier for you to win. That's not inviting a discussion.

  • It never ends. Distortion? XD This community, and it doesn't matter if you only play one role or both, basically wants a button to press that instantly wins the match for them. Entitlement is a problem for all online multiplayers but this one is especially worse because the developers yield to nearly every demand no matter how ridiculous and unpopular it is.

Nerf this, buff that, rework this, rework that...at some point it passes entitlement and becomes laziness.

  • What an unmitigated disaster all of this is. No other online multiplayer goes through these types of changes with this level of frequency. It's sad to see because I really loved this game.

On the Chucky live stream they announced Sadako will be changed in Januarys update

This is all they do anymore. Changes for the sake of changes. Devs spend entirely too much time listening to the wrong people. They never let anything breathe. *New perk released* "IT'S TOO OP CHANGE IT" Then they do and they either 5 other things break and have to be killswitched, or the butterfly effect is in play and other perks start getting used more or less or their unique ability plays a different role. "PERK IS TOO UNDERPOWERED BUFF IT" "REWORK THIS"

The hardcore player base remind of the smarks in wrestling for anyone who watches. They're insufferable and completely out of touch with what regular players want.

  • I haven't played since Halloween and before that it was September. Not only because of what is mentioned in this post, but the already horrid community with awful sportsmanship. Change after change after change after change on perks, maps, offerings, add ons, everything. The game is a shell of what it used to be but it's built up enough of a player base that they can thumb their nose at regulars with things they didn't ask for.

  • I love that for some lesser players, "solo q" is the boogeyman they blame for their equally poor tactical decision making.

  • Sorry, OP. This isn't an unreasonable take but leave it to internet dwellers to be snarky. My problem with this perk is it requires nothing skillful to activate it. You just...open a locker? It should require someone being hooked first and after the cooldown, hook again. I've watched killers not put effort into hunting during the cooldown and if it's a Wesker, it's even easier.

  • Seeing all of this debating makes me REALLY miss not only the old ranking system, but seeing the season rank above each survivor. It didn't prevent lobby dodging entirely, but it made some SWF groups think twice about being red ranks and bringing their rank 20 friend in to either draw a lower ranked killer or have them be useless in a red rank match.

  • @Annso_x said:

    • Perk descriptions not being standardized (not sure that's a word ngl). Once upon a time I made a post about this subject using healing perks as an example, why does BHVR use 6 different terms to say the same thing is beyond me.
    • Survivor sounds not being equalized. I know survivors are just skin and ultimately it doesn't matter which one I play, but it's a pain to have to factor in "how loud are they ?" when I choose.
    • Cluttered bloodwebs and inventories. So many add-ons and offerings are useless, I wish BHVR would do some clean up or at least allow us to sell stuff back for half the BPs.

The brown point offerings especially. I don't really like any point offerings that aren't streamers, cakes, or envelopes. On one survivor I have hundreds of each brown point offering that will never be used. There really should be a selling option for the bloodweb.

  • The late George Carlin said, "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.' It's applicable here because I've been griefed in a match by people assuming something based on their own bad habits and instead of, you know, doing generators, they think it's more important to stand around.

I think the only issue here is there's no way to mitigate that. One of the comments here pointed out that it's not a common enough happening to be looked at.

No, I didn't agree that it isn't debatable. You clearly stopped reading after I agreed that I also think Freddy is the worst. If you kept reading or if you comprehended it, you would've seen that I understand the debate for other killers.

    Stop huffing your own brand.

If they hide prestiges then there is literally no point to prestige. With the new profile changes they are doing what is next? Start hiding profile customizations because someone might have gotten one from being really good in chase? So we start hiding those too?

Beyond prestige 9 you as a player get nothing. So what is the point in earning prestige 100 if you can't show it off.

I still don't see the point in grinding to p100. If you happen to get there because you're using your favorite character, that's super duper terrific for all involved. It should be hidden because saying you play 8 hours per day isn't a flex to begin with.

  • Here we go again. It's not the perks themselves, it's SWF. Always has been and always will be. Until it's either completely removed from the game, (which is unrealistic), or they start putting some heavy restrictions on it, the tap dancing BHVR will do to try to appease everyone will continue.

  • @Huxy said:

Some people really love the smell of their own farts. It IS debatable. While I do agree that I think Freddy is the worst, I see a few cases for Nemesis and Pinhead and if Freddy wasn't in the game, I'd absolutely pick Pinhead. Nothing he does is accurate to his lore either.

I hope you make right decision and let them stay. There is no skin reward for P100 but there is reward you can at least show it.

Frankly, the p100 isn't an indication of anything except someone plays with the same character A LOT. My anecdotal experience has shown that it's not always a good indication of skill. In fact, when I see two p100 in a lobby, they usually end up throwing the game to save each other. However, it should be hidden because there seems to be enough players who are intimidated by it and instead of playing a game to have fun, they think they should be undefeated.

Where did I say “skill issue”? Not sure how you come to that conclusion because I’m suggesting to try and improve gameplay instead of just quitting and complaining.

Also, there’s really nothing funny. Some of you have a weird obsession about avatars and names, as if they determine credibility or correctness. Strange behavior.

It's not strange. Your carrying the torch for a killer while having the killer featured. You're definitely arguing in bad faith. Give me a break XD
