Honest feedback is the only really usable type, be it positive or negative, but they certainly need all points of view.
Also they and I realize many many posts here are written in the heat of the moment, and need to be seen as such. I do not envy them in how crazy it can get around here either.

I had absolutely no idea so many peeps were this passionate about Trickster.
Aside from @FreeKnives I haven't seen not much about this update when using a controller. Does anyone main him on console and can tell us how he feels after these changes? I'd love to hear from more players who've made this killer their main with a controller. 😊

There is nothing dishonest or unfair about filters. I invested in a PC, the GPU has filter settings. You want filters? Get a pc.
I see both sides of this argument.
While it's true us consolers cannot apply filters or mess around with frame rates, for some reason DBD has very few built in graphic options (and for sound and for controllers...) that are very common nowadays in successful games.
But the argument of "just buy a PC" is not viable right now either, not without Cross Progression available. In the unlikely event Cross Progression comes, then yeah maybe. I think many consolers feel quite trapped and boxed in, just because they happen to run DBD on their machines. Choice of platform shouldn't matter as much as it does with this game.

There is a perk to speed up unhookspeed. But seriously why? I mean reading a few posts it looks like for me that at this points survivors literally want free unhooks, even more completly remove the killer's ability to kill them in any form or outplay survivors by mechanics.
Grabs already removed (i still don't understand why). What you want next, a wall around hooked people? And the killer still should be able to kill 4 people while they finish 5 gens? Seriosly...
I believe they said they removed the hook grabs to end the faking unhook standoffs, which admittedly did look ridiculous and too influenced by ping, but were known & expected gameplay. I imagine they compared it to the old hatch grabs and just wanted it gone.

Interesting... I'm pretty sure other games, like Fortnite have the same thing, does it work this way across all games or just DbD?
I've never run into this particular problem before, where it's introduced then quickly removed. I think they said it was mistakenly activated on Xbox or sumsuch, but seriously how does that happen?
Dunno about Fortnite I've never played that.

Rancor, NOED, and hurt & on death hook are all legit reasons to get tf out, especially without being on comms. The frustration comes from that lack of coordination and/or game sense much more than from thinking anyone is a cowardly chickenshytt player.

I think after the generator timer increase, it's probably time we start looking at hook state times. I feel it would ease the pressure off of more casual lobbies where camping/returning to the hook is more prevalent.
I feel its something that should have been adjusted when the gen timers are, to discourage killers to stay near the hook. I also feel Unhook speeds should be sped up slightly to match the attack CD reduction which was added to killer in the same patch as the gen timer increase, but only by that amount. What do you all think?
The perk Reassurance is available to add time to a hooked survivor. It's not run very often, but it's there.
I thought the original intent of those changes to weapon wipe times was to make all killers more leathal? To be honest I've never thought about unhooking speeds before.
The whole killer returning to the hook scenario certainly is very common, as they know for certain where at least two survs then are, one of them very vulnerable. Messing around with those interactions will be tricky, especially during EGC.

Obviously when you play against players not on Xbox your name is hidden from them and all of that, but when you play against Xbox users they can still send you salty messages and view your profile. Just had a match where the team gen rushed and was super greedy, on Coldwind (probably my least favorite map in the game as killer). By the end game 1 was already dead and I was camping a survivor I just hooked, the other 2 healed and came for the unhook, but luckily I was legion and got them all injured again. I downed 2 of them and ended up with a 3K (win lol). After the match one of them, a "ttv", messaged me saying I was trash. Why are they able to view my profile and message me if streamer Mode is on, what's the point of it? Viewing the profile shouldn't even be an option, and I hope this gets a fix in the future because I don't want salty greedy survivors that lost telling me I'm trash, that's why I turned it on to begin with.
Their Anonymous Mode violated some of Microsoft's policies and was removed after like two weeks or so after it was introduced. I don't know how the devs didn't know this beforehand, but the current way it's implemented can't work on Xbox like it does on the PlayStations apparently.

Lately I have been getting a lot of people in my matches who have been using VPNs. I know this because I ask them. Any chance something can be done? Oftentimes you have 200ms plus ping matches where everybody in my lobby is not from my country
Edit: Why not make a ping threshold so that way people aren't matched with others over lets say 150ms
I don't think they can even detect anyone using VPN's let alone prevent them.
If there were more server locations available then maybe we can talk more about pings worldwide. Unfortunately many DBD players in South America and in Asia are too far from existing servers and play with poop ping. We'd need solutions that don't end up in "Screw em I just don't want to be matched up with them."
I am surprised showing the killer's ping has been gone for so long. Maybe they don't want rabid Lobby Dodging due to it? Dunno.

Because it’s probably an issue of hardware / internet, rather than a game issue.
My game loads extremely fast.
When I fire up DBD on my Xbox series X it takes 83 seconds to get to the main menu. When I select Play as Survivor for the first time it takes 52 seconds to get to that roster. When I select Play as Killer for the first time it takes 55 seconds to get to that roster. Once I've selected either role at least once they both will load in much faster, probably half the time (haven't clocked those yet).
Back when I played DBD on the Xbox1x it would take over two minutes to get to the main menu. I very clearly remember it hanging on whatever tf "loading RTS store" is, and then hanging on "Initialization complete" for even longer. I don't recall how long it took to load into the rosters, but I think it was faster than the Series X does it for some reason. I imagine all this is absolutely horrific on a Nintendo Switch.
The point being this game is a resource monster that because of the way it was coded bottlenecks very easily. A strong PC will power through almost anything DBD conjures up, but it is different on the consoles, particularly so on the older machines.
Back in 2019 on their Road Map they set a goal for getting all platforms running this game at 60 fps minimum. After like two years passed or so they confessed that they simply could not do it on the prior gen machines. Not because of their capabilities, but because of the bottlenecking problems. They even said adding in graphics options like Low or High or Ultra such as PC has would not help at all, and like two years ago they removed the Switch's ability to record their matches to try and improve performance. The code is that unwieldy apparently.

There's no Cross Progression nor is it likely ever coming, and I ain't starting over and buying everything again just to move to PC. And I'd have to buy that amazing gaming PC too. So nope.
CrossPlay just matches with those on my particular platform who also turned it off, so maybe like 13 people. So nope.

If you're referring to the Aim Dressing then it is a double-edged sword.
Without it the number of killer hits that look like they missed by lightyears would skyrocket, as would the outrage about how they look from the surv pov.
But with it the game gets very confused about swings and lunges, making you smack trees & rocks & walls & thin blessed air. It supposedly does not turn actual misses into hits and so on, but man o man most of my beloved Piggy's blades have gotten quite dull and banged up hitting anything but survs.

I'm just curious why there isn't a browser for DBD to sell Auric Cells personally instead of going through the consoles/Steam/Epic Games. I ask because of another game being able to do that. Is it because we can't use an email to confirm our account or is it another issue?
I imagine it's because the console makers and Steam etc. get a cut of the money spend on buying those cells, and get it through the game's store itself.
-
The way trials usually go with those add-ons is either you get noobs who don't know to use lockers or stay on the gen and thereby all get massacred, or the survs know and you are never getting that achievement, ever. Fun for all around.
Change the add-ons.

Corrupt is always necessary to make games bearable.
Hex: devour hope, bbq and grim embrace encourage killers to not hook camp or slug survivors. I seriously miss playing against killers with barbecue years ago because I knew it always going to be a good time since there was no hook camping involved. Sucks how we got into this mess now
A baby version of Corrupt Intervention is about as far as I'd debate from your list, and I do not think even that is necessary right now.
As for BBQ I will say I believe it was a mistake to remove the unique hook bonuses from it.
I think having those was much healthier for the game overall. That version was one of the most if not top perks all killers would run, not just because the aura reading was super useful but it did that AND gave the bp bonuses. It would strongly encourage hooking everyone at least once, so I and many killers would go out of their way to find each surv. I have no doubt it kept direct tunneling numbers lower than they might have been.
Usage of BBQ dipped since that change, but over the last few months it has risen somewhat as its current effect is still worth it on many killers. Aura reading perks have slowly replaced other choices made less appealing as they updated chase and gen defense ones.

@Raccoon said:
You can't fix tunneling without removing the killer's agency/ability to eliminate someone from the game when they NEED to (ie - the game is going poorly, they need a come back, etc).
Granted, I personally think it is fine if the killer wants to remove someone at any given point in the game, too, as it is an elimination game and the killer has the agency to chase/hit/hook whoever they want at any given time.
All these changes I see just lead to scenarios where the killer would auto-lose without hampering/hindering survivor efficiency (the reason for permanently removing someone) - Where would the incentive be for them to keep playing?
Hopefully they're focusing on when during a trial this is happening. A single surv who is the only one hooked three straight times with no gens done yet, that's a problem, and of course feels so bad. Unless they've been afk or are brand spanking new to the game, that should not happen. Matchmaking absolutely plays a part here too, but how to address it?
Direct tunneling after a gen or two is popped is more understandable to me, but there's just so many variables to how the match is going to consider. If this game is just about kills (and not hooks for instance) then taking someone out immediately to get it down to a 3 vs. 1 will always be the best option, and there's simply no fixing that.

Even if you are not cheating, other players cannot be sure of your innocence if they cannot see your profile. In the normal case, you can check for past bans due to cheating, which makes it even more difficult to play against anonymous players on the PC version.
I'm on Xbox and cannot check anyone's profiles at all, and also cannot use their Anonymous Mode either. What would you suggest we do?

For some killers it makes sense that their movement is restricted like Blight, Billy and Oni but all of them are able to do flicks so that they can still hit survivors. Imagine, if those 3 could not do it. Blight would immediately drop several tiers because a survivor would only need to move slightly to the side, Oni would be in a similar position because he couldn't play around most loops anymore and Billy would effectively lose his chase power.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3599166#Comment_3599166
You can. Set controller sensitivity to 100% and start curving immediately when the chainsaw sprint starts. You only have 0.75 seconds but even on controller you should be able to turn roughly 100°.
I've tried it on max sensitivity, and similar things on most killers. The camera simply cannot be turned fast enough to try and line such actions up, becomes more of a guess. The dead zones in the sticks add something like a third to a half of a second delay for all actions attempted. Kinda like fighting against no momentum, kinda sluggish.
And that's without taking console game performance and frames into consideration.

To expand on this, if you've ever played Hillbilly, you'd notice they actually give his turn rate a buff for the first bit of your chainsaw sprint before heavily capping it, you can curve 90 degrees easily even with low DPI
I'm pretty sure I cannot do that with my controller

What if we went a step further and also made your team's loadouts visible during the trial via the pause/match menu?
This would be best. Show builds once the trial loads just as offerings can be brought up. Survs then wanting out deal with the DC penalties.

@Seraphor said:
I wouldn't go that far. It took nearly 2 years to fix this, and it's mainly a problem because of the poor default joystick deadzone settings, which still cause a problem for a lot of 'aim' killers.
Console-PC parity is one of the games biggest issues.
Just take menu navigation for starters. It can take me several passes just to select the Enter Archives button without flying past it and the side-menu collapsing. Extrapolate that to live play.
Yup yup, and adding M&K support is one of the best ways to lessen that parity gap. More setting options for that blasted color stroller is another way.

Devour Hope is basically the only Hex perk that fits this description, basically all others are just "High risk, mediocre to smol rewards".
That's sadly true. Pentimento is not too bad, could be better. While original Ruin was too much and a brutal noob-stomper, it's current version just isn't worth it. Undying can buy ya some time, but no where near its prior version either. The other hexes seem uninspired now.

I wonder if BHVR could increase the sensitivity for console to even it out? I have no idea if that's possible as I'm not a scientist.
Like three or so years back they did exactly that, and put in a slider that when maxed doubled the controller sensitivity. Dunno if that was the max that could be done.
-
While it always stings bad, this is part of the deal when running hex perks. High risk but high reward as they say. Overall Devour is in a pretty good spot imo.
Totem spawns do need tweaking on many maps, cannot deny that. Not just to be more hidden, but better spacing away from gens as well as surv spawn spots. From what I can tell they did move some around a bit maybe two years back, but not much since then and no updates about it either.
-
I do think many consolers don't even know they can rebind most actions around in the settings, and this should be made more clear imo.
-
I'm ok with a part of the map being very killer sided, an area risky for survs to mess around near or get caught out of position at. Although it's spawn placement is rng it can rectify some quite strong central buildings like that on Ormond, which without the basement there becomes super safe.

Not necessarily true. I would argue the opposite. If they are able to fix it, and they couldn’t do it without fixing his collision in the first place, then it would make his bump logic stronger (which is already objectively more consistent than going for a hug tech). Hug techs really only help on short filler pallets, and rush mitigation.
There is a lot of counterplay to the hug tech in that it’s easy to predict, identify, and react to as long as you don’t sit there and wait.
I am very far from an expert with Blight, so please educate me some.
I've messed around with Blight in the past, after McLean worked his final magic & Blight was playable on console. Since then I've tried various so-called techs with him, but invariably failed miserably and end up swinging at thin air if I'm not stopped cold on nothing. I just can't swing the camera around fast enough with the sticks, let alone the character himself, to accomplish much.
Even at max sensitivity the dead zones and sluggish acceleration make it all feel like struggling against quicksand to me, like I'm fighting with the controller. Feels like a half-second delay to overcome no momentum, very unresponsive to me. I'm not sure I'm describing any of this effectively, sorry if I'm not.
Do you have any experience with him on a controller?

That's a really weird thing to ask for... How would this even work to implement? Do you get to decide who gets your bonus? After the match? Sounds horrible, would just mean less BP over all for everyone. A terrible idea.
I was wondering this as well.
The offerings are burnt as the trial loads in, and bp bonuses applied post-trial as survs are sacrificed or escape one by one. Solos usually leave the tally screen immediately anyway. So where is the opening to implement this?
Plus SWF would most likely only choose their mates as well. There's so much negative to this proposed change.

@OrangeBear said:
I think the problem is lack of counterplay. Obsession is meant to take hits to lose stacks but you can't communicate that in solo queue. Also, killers like demo with easy to use special attacks can use that on the obsession should they try to do this counter. You can't do anything about this and it just transforms some killers into save the best for last users instead of using their own power.
Also ever since they started using endurance for anti-tunnelling and camping, STBFL became an anti-anti tunnel.
The perk probably shouldn't work on endurance hits and there needs to be more counterplay to reduce the amount of tokens the killer has.
My precious Piggy is also good at preserving her stacks, if you're good with her dash. 🐷🐽

Wouldn't it be simpler to just not abuse a perk provided to prevent tunnelling? I hate tunnelling as much as the next guy and I never tunnel as a killer, but survivors have a way of abusing every single tool given to them. So yeah, a protection hit should disable DS. If that's done, I don't care how much they increase it to.
The unhooked surv losing collision for like 8 seconds or whatever also neatly gets rid of that particular form of bodyblocking. Could even be a certain range around the hook instead of timed, say 16 meters or so.
So now going back to 5 seconds and keeping the conspicuous action limitations would be fine. Without that collision we could even discuss it being available once the gens ar done. I wouldn't agree with that myself, but the conversation could be had then.
-
I look at hook destruction on sacrifices the same way as survs not 3-genning themselves. Hooks are a resource to be managed in the same way. Just as @coco_shotz said.
Hook placement spawns should be constantly monitored so situations like that are minimized for sure.

Building up to a six hour matchmaking lock means many many disconnects. I'm not saying DBD or their servers are the most stable things out there, but in your case you prolly should sort out your connection issues first.
Their system cannot or does not differentiate between connection drops and intentional DC's and applies the penalties the same regardless.

Much as I personally don't believe STBFL or Sloppy actually need changes, this is hardly that dramatic.
We still have all the normal gameplay left. Y'know, regular chases, regular gen patrols, all that stuff. Even if STBFL and Sloppy are completely nuked into uselessness, we'd still have most of the potent chase perks that currently exist. We'd have stealth builds, we'd have slowdown builds, we'd even have some pretty okay hex builds.
The state of the game is not so dire that two perks, a status effect, and a blatantly unhealthy strategy being looked at means killers are left with nothing.
So you're saying please be reasonable and patient? 🙂

These changes are more punishing towards console killers. This is one of the flaws of the PTB.
There are ways around the PTB only for Steam problem. Games like Minecraft and DayZ have separate experimental games on Xbox. Maybe something similar could be used?
