Can we please show the aura of the locker to allies so they know you have head on. This just bridges the communication gap that solo q and survive with friends have and would be much appreciated.
At least show the surv loadouts in game, so your allies know perks like Head-On are in play.

What? If I'm on PC and they have the globe, 99% of the time they are on console. Plus the people usually chat. The number of console players are literally x4 the number of PC players. If console players were really equally skilled, I should be seeing all console players at high mmr too.
I know Epic and Windows players wouldn't show the globe for Steam players, but what did those on Stadia show back in the day? If you were around back then?
-
@CatnipLove said:
What would us getting that data achieve?
Console players only play a few killers? Are you sure about that. I don't even know how you figured that out.
Practically no one willingly plays Nurse or current Trickster with a controller. Precious few will run Blight or Singularity for many matches either. Those that do and are effective have put in the hours to do so.
With time however most of the killers are doable, just takes longer to master and many advanced skills are unobtainable. Strafing is harder and flicks unheard of, things like that.
We can't know anything for sure along these lines. As a basic rule though the vast majority of the playerbase is on the consoles, but most of the killers are on PC. This is likely due to the controller, framerates, and typically the more casual mindset of consolers in general.

Surprised to hear Pig is a noob stomper tbh. The game is complex and very hard on new players certainly. However this isn't really a thing the devs can fix, especially as more and more killers and perks get added to the game increasing its complexity. Its rough for them but I think they just need to learn that skill check builds exist if dbd did re-add the ability for such perks to affect her boxes. If progress is saved, it wouldn't really affect the survivors much. It would just waste some time and give the Pig info on where they are.
She is indeed a noob stomper. She regularly tops the overall kill rates chart, but struggles mightily against good survs and coordinated teams bully her sadly.
-

Sort of wondering if BHVR would have an easier time with The Pig's traps if they were reworked to be on a stack system, rather than a timer (sort of like The Onryo).
Interesting. Maybe everyone has a hat at the start, and completing a gen starts their machinery going. The survs need to now mess with the Jigsaws to knock the hats' progress down some. Maybe Piggy can kick the Jigsaws to slow them or whatever.
Lots of possibilities here.

I would be fine with search progress getting saved but if they do that then skill check modifying perks should work with the boxes again to help balance it out a bit and add some extra spice to Pig.
Maybe your idea is worth testing, not sure. But my beloved Piggy is already a noob stomper, and doubling down on that with a return to Skill Check interactions that rookies already struggle with might make things worse overall. Getting new players better at this game shouldn't feel as bad as it currently does in DBD, let alone worse. Hard to balance that.

I'd love to see the official kill rate and pick rate for both killers and survivors. Is baby Dwight the first one found in the locker? Does Claudette have the highest escape rate because she hides all game waiting for the hatch? I'd also like to see the killers broken down by low, mid, and high mmr.
I saw the reddit post you're talking about and take it with a grain of salt. Only a small portion of the player base even uses that site and they can cherry pick the info they want to submit. I have never used nightlight and I have close to 4k hours in the game. People were saying that last time the devs shared info that the kill rate was on average 10% higher.
A agree about using Nightlight sparingly. It's just in English, most likely gets only PC players using it as well as mostly "sweats", and as you pointed out relies on players not using discretion when putting in their stuff.
The biggest discrepancy I saw with it is not taking a global view of the entire playerbase. For example, whenever the devs put out official stats it always shows Self Care as absurdly high in pick rates. In Europe and NA that perk is generally denounced as "bad" and not run too much, but in Asia and elsewhere it's still highly used due to their different but preferred playstyle.
No way Nightlight reflects this, and likely never will. It may be all we got, but that doesn't mean take it as Gospel either. Sample size way too small for that.

Down the road we'll see. But I do not think either will ever be added to the game, sadly.

The counter is don't finish gens when people have hats and do the totem. Its a m1 killer. Just play it safe and against any somewhat coordinated team the perk isn't an issue.
Ultimate Weapon is a much bigger problem of a perk than Face the Darkness anyways.
I think that's the point, that against solos who cannot coordinate 99ing gens and the like, that this particular setup is not good. I'd agree that search progress needs to be saved, similarly to how Madness works with Doctor. Just that change, and this problem goes away.

Anytime there are nerfs to killers on the PTB console players are the main ones being punished. Xenomorphs tail nerfs makes her much harder to play on controller. It's not impossible but if I have a greater chance of missing my ability and being slowed I'd rather play a basic m1 killer.
Content creators who BHVR caters to with alot of the feedback they get are majority PC and majority of the players are on console. Many of the nerfs recently received is why many console players don't play a variety of killers. Also, many nerfs that will be received with the chucky update is going to make him very rare, just like xenomorph.
The change to tricker is a step in the right direction so hopefully they address the many issues controller players face.
There's absolutely no way they would ever put out specific stats on "this" on console and " that" on PC. It would stir up the biggest mess of us vs them imaginable.

I'm in the Australian server. I also agree with those who say you aren't facing 4man swfs every game. The last official stats we received in 2022 were something like 4% of the playerbase consist of 4man swfs. It may have increased but I doubt by much.
You're quite right about the breakdown of survs in SWF groups. The vast majority are two-mans, with threes and especially fours very uncommon.
Those soul-taking comp quads make up a tiny portion of the overall playerbase, as are those tourney Nurses and Blights. And this game certainly is not primarily balanced around them either.
-
Is anyone on PC going to wait for fourteen minutes while I painfully try to type out a single sentence with my controller??
-
Listen I'm on console and can't do anything filter like, nor change the graphics settings at all. My old ass TV doesn't offer much either. While I'm not a fan of these limits, even I know there's no way to enforce anything regarding filters as they cannot detect most of them in the first place.
When it comes to things involving the game files, again console soooo... but the devs have whitelisted several of them and have made it perfectly clear should the Anti-cheat ban they can't do squat about it.
And that's without considering legit assessability issues. Or the argument that soooooo many modern games offer way more options in the first place; it shouldn't surprise anyone those players that can mess around with stuff do so. Now it just comes down to varying opinions on what's "fair".
-
Isn't the point of any MMR to consistently put the sweats up against the sweats? So the highly skilled & veteran players don't get mixed in with newbies?

@MadameExotine said:
I don't understand why it would be up to sony/microsoft to have cross progression.
Is it a part of their contract with Behaviour?
If it's a technical problem to have progress simultaneously over two systems, I wouldn't mind if there'd be a one time "progress transfer" option, where I could entirely transfer all my progress over to PC (and not have it available on my console anymore)
Ideally Cross Progression deals are in place before a game comes out. In the case of DBD it launched just on Steam, but it got hugely popular so they ported it to other platforms to continue to grow the playerbase. So it went to the consoles something like a year or thereabouts later, then lastly Epic was added much later.
Now for pure conjecture on my part. What I think happened is the subject of Cross Progression wasn't immediately brought up while they were hammering out agreements with each console maker. Sadly it was discussed much later on, once players saw the stark game performance issues and wanted out. Hard to know for sure without knowing the details of such negotiations however, just my opinion.
I would love for them to open up some about this subject, but I imagine NDA's would prevent that. We can't just nail the devs for no updates or action on Cross Progression now, it likely is out of their hands for the most part. But how we got to this point could be due to decisions made 5-6 years ago.
-
At least y'all can even use Anonymous Mode. Those of us on Xbox cannot even use it.

Hello, does anyone know what is the problem with cross platform? I put only to play with PS players but seems it some bug because i stay on searching infinity and it was not like this before.. how am i supposed to not play with PC players, is that even possible???
The way their CrossPlay works is when you flip it off you will now only get matched up with others on your particular platform, but who also have turned it off. So if you're on a PS4 for example, with it off you'll only get players also on a PS4 who tried it off as well.
So yeah no one on any PC, but also no one on a PS5 or any Xbox or Switch, or anyone on PS4 with CrossPlay on. Once players realized this fewer and fewer turn if off now.

I can see an uptick of Killer DCs/Lack of Killers if they removed lobbies.
The sad truth is that a lot of Killers just do not want to face 4man squads, even if they just look like one. Specially older Killers, a lot have PTSD because of this game.
No doubt the vet killers wish to avoid those kinds of groups, no matter how rare they might be. But it is also true they're most likely the ones who can handle the best of the trolliest best.

Removal of lobbies would ruin the game for me. I use the information as both killer and Survivor to determine which (if any) items and addons I will bring as well as which perks I would or would not use.
I also need to be able to dodge lobbies with trolls since we can't ban across platforms who we play with.
I'm looking at it from the matchmaking perspective for the entire playerbase. We all know lobby dodging wreaks their system, we just don't know how badly yet. That's why they tested out removing the prestiges in the lobby, to see how it effects everything.
-
@Spare_Them_Mori_Me said:
Then I vote we don't change it. I've had more positive than negative interactions regarding lobbies and such on my p100. Sorry you haven't. So keep asking for change, and I'll keep asking that it stays the same or compromise on a toggle. You're not even wanting to compromise.
Or are you? If a toggle isn't a compromise, what would be? Someone mentioned interactions with the card thing. Could work. :)
Those who do not want it shown at all before trial prolly won't like it showing up in some player card that can be opened up, let alone as any option.
Those who wish to flex their prestiges and show them off prolly want no changes at all, or failing that as that very option.
My own personal vote would be to remove lobbies altogether, just load directly in. Doing so would allow their MMR system its best shot at a fair-ish match, plus nicely eliminate that last second swapping bs survs can still do for some reason.

Unfortunately dedicated servers arnt the fix all alot of people were hoping for. I tried playing a game as Singularity yesterday to see if it was as horrible to play on Console as I've heard. It DID suck... but one thing that just made the match worse was a 600+ ping Meg who kept teleporting. Game felt less like Hide and seek/Tag and more like Wack a mole. I'd lunge and see the Meg appear 10 meters in a different direction.
I've played on PC, Switch and currently on PS5 and honestly... all I'm really asking for anymore is KB/M support. Blows my mind that I can plug in a keyboard to type in a chatbox, but can't play with it. The same console that can handle a VR Headset as an added accessory can't handle a USB mouse? Make it make sense Sony!!!
Sounds like you'll need both Sony and BHVR together to make M&K support happen for DBD.
I know there's an adapter for the PlayStations to get a keyboard to work on the PS4 for this game, something for like $240 USD. Dunno if it works for the PS5, but I do know it doesn't work too well for Xbox.

Yeah I was deliberately skipping over cross play... 😏
Crossplay is nice... console gets all the benefits of dedicated servers, which is great. I've seen people say the game was better before dedicated servers... but... no... honestly PtP frigging sucks, and I refuse to listen to any argument to the contrary. I remember when I would scoff at a server higher than 30 ping... wouldn't touch a server higher than 50. Now it's a good day if i get less than 90 on most games... 😫
However of course that does also mean we get to sample the fruit of hackers/cheaters as well... At least regardless of our differences... PC/Console gamers stand united in hating those swines above all others. I'd use a stronger term... but I've been done twice for being too loose with my tongue already in the forums 🤣
EDit: OFC to anyone who is still on a last gen console... please do yourself a favour and buy a PS5... Xbox if you have to, but either way, it's so much better on PS5 than PS4.
To your point about the prior gen machines, it should be remembered the vast majority of the playerbase is on the consoles. And something like half of those are still toiling away on those older models worldwide, primarily the PlayStations.
This and things like M&K support and Cross Progression all keep being brought up mostly because of the glaring disparity in game performance. That performance should not be as drastic and pronounced as it is between super strong PC's and well everything else, including lower end PC's.
And shout out to our precious Switch cousins they're the real heros! 🤪❤️

We can't blame solely the devs for Cross Progression not coming yet, if ever. Sony and Microsoft and Nintendo all have to separately agree to a deal to make it happen.
What we can hit the devs for is the reason so many players wish to abandon their consoles to run their game on a PC capable of handling DBD well. Long standing issues like frame rates, M&K support, controller settings, etc.
-
Blight still has many many collision issues that need to be ironed out first, then four or so add-ons tweaked. After that let's talk techs.

There are a few killer builds that are absolutely map dependent, so they shouldn't be outright removed.
It's not the offerings themselves that are to blame, but any strong map imbalances that exist, real or imagined. That's where the work needs to be done. Changing the offerings would just be a bandaid fix.
Ideally putting up a map offering would only be player preference, not to gain an advantage. I sometimes use them when I get like four indoor maps in a row as a surv, to break that up some. I'll also throw up Swamp maps as I love them in both roles, and do unusually well on them for some reason. But if I'm in a group they'll shout down the Swamps as they hate them. Things like that.

Seriously? This was a promise? I remember cross-progression being one but not this. I guess there literally is no hope then. I can't believe how much money I've spent on this game. I bought every piece of DLC and hundreds of dollars worth of auric cells over the years.
On their road map back in 2019 they laid out a goal to get all the consoles running DBD at a stable 60 fps.
Once it wasn't happening, followed by scant talk about it, many players (with @Pulsar and several others attempting Herculean efforts) collectively provided ample vids & such documenting all the optimization woes of their game. Sadly this ended up with not much to show for it, despite being the largest thread ever on this forum.
About a year and a half back they told us they just couldn't do it, saying something about bottlenecked resources on the prior gen consoles owing to their coding or sumsuch.
I have no doubt all this cost them many loyal & passionate players, chiefly because of this goal never happening and no hope of Cross Progression either to escape with.
Any still toughing it out on the Switch deserve medals, cake, and an extra toy at recess. Oh, and not to be shamefully lead along like that ever again with any game they love.

Besides content creators there aren't that many people playing the PTB long enough to learn how to play as or against new perks / killers. Killer queues are very long, there's no SBMM or DC penalty so it's not uncommon to not get any "real" game.
Not to mention it's only available for steam players and you can't go back and forth between live & PTB without downloading it every time
Shortening the time would mean devs don't have as much time to fix the bugs or very obvious balance problems
To your point about having to download the live or PTB version, on Xbox games like Minecraft and DayZ both have "experimental" games separate from their "live" versions for testing new things out. Maybe they could make use out of a similar setup, where there's a testing version always there to mess around with.

PC Players were fine before crossplay was a thing. If you really feel that you are at a disadvantage, then disable crossplay.
I think it has to do with how their CrossPlay works.
With it switched off you only get matched with others just on your own platform who also have it switched off. So for example someone on PS4 who turns off CrossPlay will now only get matched with others on PS4 who also turned it off. Not with anyone on PS5 or any Xbox players or Steam/Epic or Switch, even if they too have CrossPlay off as well. Small pool of players indeed.

Or they could use their TV's inbuilt settings to up brightness, change contrast, color temperature or even apply any filter. Those options already existed for TVs from the 90s, pre LCD. It's not like they are completely helpless or something.
The second I mess with the contrast or brightness it turned the images into a nuclear fallout looking mess, so nope there.
I sometimes think our PC cousins greatly exaggerate the average setup us consolers are using. The couch a dozen meters from an not new TV and using that TV's speaker to play is very much a real thing. Using an adapter to get the three color plugs to meet up with the HDMI cable is the most advanced tech in there, and that was a gift.
In my head I imagine some PCrs perched three inches away from one or two monitors with a mouse set to half a trillion dpi and filters showing scratch marks & red stains visible from Mars and listening with a headset costing more than a car payment.
The average player is prolly somewhere in the middle! 🤪😂🤣

At the moment I consider Trickster and maybe Singularity just impossible to run effectively, no matter the amount of practice.
Trickster thankfully is getting his recoil removed, so we'll have to see about him. Singularity is a struggle because even at max sensitivity his aiming with the camera feels sluggish and unnatural to land hits consistently.
