Oh i didn't know that i thought they added it to all platforms
They originally did, but after like a week or so Microsoft screamed at them as their Anonymous Mode violated several Xbox policies, and they removed it just for our platform. Apparently it isn't coming back. How they did not know this beforehand I don't know.

95% seems a tad lil bit low ....

I use anonymous mode because i am not interested in being harassed for winning against someone or being targeted in future games. The real question is, why would you not use anonymous mode? All pros and no cons for me.
The only thing it prevents is targeted anything. You can still report players that are breaking the rules.
I honestly think there is no good reason to be mad about it.
I don't use Anonymous Mode because those of us on Xbox cannot use it.

It's kind of a matter of what the devs think should be fixed vs what the game should embrace. The concept of LOOPING wasn't an intended feature, but rather than making the hitboxes between killers match survivors to "fix" it, they just went with it.
It is always interesting what they embrace as a new feature or not, kinda inconsistent there.

jesus christ. what reason do we have to play dbd if they don't care?
The prior gen machines still suffer, however the current game is not horrible. Still lots of room for improvement though.
What really needs to be done is a fresh recoding from scratch, but I doubt that'll ever happen. Too bad too, that would give them opportunities to add in things like a match replay system.

The game can’t be properly balanced without it. And again, I don’t understand why adding VC is a problem. You will have the option to mute people. Right now people in favor of it have nothing. Adding it with the option to mute is a fair compromise.
The reasons they've given over the years for no comms is the availability of them outside of the game, and language barriers around the world.
Imo they simply do not want the moderation nightmare it would be to police it.

A game that's 7 years old and having lots of problems is weird to me.
It's based on how the game was originally coded, using Blueprints I believe. There is no doubt they ever dreamed their game would take off like it did, and they continue to work with and build upon that, errr somewhat shaky foundation. People joke that's is all spaghetti, but in seriousness it's apparently very unwieldy and prone to bottlenecking resources.
As for optimization, usually that is farmed out to specialty companies that do such things all day, however for DBD they chose to do that in-house themselves. The older consoles (love you Switch cousins 💝) and lower-end PC's feel these issues the most, but it effects us all.
There's that ginormous thread I posted above to see more.

I have empathy for other players even though they lack any for me.
This.
Direct tunneling, especially at 5 or 4 gens left to do, just FEELS so bad. How could they realistically regulate an emotion like that? Without taking away more of what a killer can do? If you're only looking for efficiency then yeah tunneling is the way to go, with emotion taken completely out of it.
I will say those that only play as killer may have lost that empathy for the other role, or never had it to begin with. But those who play both sides and feel that tunnel several times may chose to look for another target sometimes, ignoring the efficient play on purpose.
In truth the only change to the game that'll matter regarding tunneling will come from players themselves. And not everyone has the same gaming heart as some do.

And what if, while in the lobby, the killer knows which of the survivors is with whom in the party and how many people it is (for example, the nicknames of these players will be connected by a thread, or a chain, well, you understand).I think this is a great solution to the issue of fun games and serious ones.
That would lead to insane amounts of lobby shopping. Most killers would just dodge until they get only solos, and with about half of all survs in at least a two-man queue times would soar for everyone and destroy their matchmaking as well.

Believe me I've tried that. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn't, very inconsistent in that regard. Even tried it with varying sensitivities.

You mean after SWF was released they said it was always intended? Oh wow, that totally clears that up lmao The game sold in 2016 as a niche asymmetrical horror game that was advertised as being a 1v1v1v1v1 where cooperation wasn't needed on the Surv side but encouraged, with a heavy focus on having limited information. I should know, that's when I bought the game. Yea that totally sounds like a game that had SWF in mind while developing it, totally backed up by all the Surv Aura perks that SWF have as basekit simply by being in a SWF as well as all the Killer perks that SWF completely negate lmao
SWF was a mechanic change to sell more copies and thus it did. Nothing more, nothing less.
They prioritized adding in SWF after it was noticed friends would just lobby hop until they all were in the same lobby, but yeah they said it was always an intended mode.
I'm sure someone will find the relevant threads of the devs saying so, but if that won't convince you I have nothing for ya.

Makes sense about the dead zones. I just turn my camera and go with the wiggle. Gets me to a hook without getting caught up most of the time.
The camera with the controller suffers from the same issues though. It always feels sluggish and unnatural and unresponsive, even at max sensitivity.

@Roco45 said:
OFC SWF is a problem, the game was not built with SWF in mind and the foundation game mechanics that the entire game has been built on for almost a decade, completely contradicts SWF. Even worse, it's completely destroyed this community since Killers hate Survs because they often verse SWF, SWF's troll the Killer and anyone who wants to play as Surv with one friend or in SoloQ is heavily punished for it. Soloq is literally unplayable, it's an alt tab simulator. SWF literally null and voids dozens of Surv perks that were intended for years to be based around extremely limited information; which is also why there's so many ######### Killer Aura reading perks *oop the killer farted, show Surv auras for 15 seconds in a 40m radius*.
It's also hilarious that anytime a mechanic is proposed to deal with SWF people cry "But I shouldn't be punished for playing with friends", like babe, every video game is constructed around game mechanics and new ones need to be developed to alter SWF play to balance the game overall in a healthy way. There's a few ways to do that, that BHVR could implement:
- Limit the amount of perks available to SWF, to limit them all running the same meta perks in ultra coordination.
- Increase gen time and amount to do depending on SWF party.
- Rework the perk tree to change perk % values depending on how many players are in a party.
- Add optional voice comms to SoloQ
As a player since 2016, I can boot up the game in 2023 as Killer to either get ultra sweaty SWF players or SoloQ which I release all my frustration out from my prior SFW games and so I torment them. If I want to play as Surv I can get my friends together and we get easy games based off farming the Killer or I can play SoloQ and be alt tabbed playing a different game because I have no interest in playing against tunnelers/campers/bots (Surv Bots as when I play SoloQ almost every single game their is a DC).
The game is in a triangular down spiral and has been for years: SWF>Killer>Surv. Three separate groups within this games community when only two of those groups were intended from the start.
The devs have stated many times in the past that SWF was always intended, and that as launch neared they could either have KYF mode ready or SWF mode, and went with KYF. Very soon after they added in SWF.
What I will say is I believe they strongly underestimated how use of comms & the ability to choose your mates could and did effect the game. The very things that allowed DBD to grow so fast and far, along with all the licenses.

Yeah I reported them. One of them was crawling without model while she is at hook. And they was from epic or microsoft store.
The devs may never live down having all those free Epic Store accounts out there.
-
Players wouldn't do it if it didn't work. If a killer is convinced they don't have the time to chase them proxying out some hook states and confirming kills can often be the play to make, similarly to direct tunneling.

I wouldn't say it's exactly a new waybut Boil Over does have a long recorded history of screwing with the controller movement more so than m+kb. Every blue moon I'll have a SWF that runs it and tries to get cute on Temple or Foundry. I couldn't tell you what exactly it is that makes it such a menace to controllers.
The problem with Boil Over against controllers is the dead zones in the sticks combined with input lag. It is inconsistent in its effect, but basically it's much much harder to counter the sway.
Those using a mouse deal with the sway by going with it, and can actually gain a slight movement increase if timed right. But with a controller you often cannot react fast enough to try and go with that sway, instead pulling in the opposite direction and be slowed & pinball off things. It is even more pronounced in doorframes and the inside maps too.

Here are the facts. Being in a swf grants a certain number of advantages. I'm not going into that now because its been discussed extensively on these forums. Also this isnt a conversation of imbalances between all the killers which is an issue outside of what i want to talk about.
Heres how this effects this game. The pecking order is this. Solo q<killer<swf. That means that solo q suffers because of the advantages that swf hold over killer. If killer would like to chill out and test builds for fun they are shut down because of efficiency of swfs. No room for fun builds. So if the killer wants to be able to win they must bring meta and/or play dirty.
That doesnt mean that killer has a guaranteed win over well-coordinated swfs, but that does guarntee a stomp vs solo q. So both killer and solo q are held hostage to swfs who want to optimally sweat their butts off.
There is no compensation for this. They get assumed free coms and gen and perk coordination. Which compared to a solo q team is an insane difference.
I argue this more for solo q then killer. As killer if I sweat my ass off and bring perks/play dirty I'm usually guaranteed a 2k at min. not including those crazy coordinated team which can result in a loss. As solo q this means that most killers either tunnel me out or tunnel someone else out early on and guarntee that the lack of coordination or perks geared in teams using busted stuff is going to result in the killers wiping the team.
The fix is to add a disadvantage to swf. No this doesnt mean punish people who want to play with their friends. This does mean that there needs to be a acknowledgement that you have an advantage over solo q and are going to accept a penalty to bring you to solo q levels. This level should be the base relationship between the killer role and survivor role.
These should be experimented on to determine what nerfs to swf should make them equivalent to soloq. This means that the results of swf should be tracked compared to solo. Go slow. Make sure its not anything insane.
This should go in the opposite direction as well. If the nerfs in fact bring swf to solo q levels then the tools killer uses to counter well-coordinated swfs should be nerfed as well.
Swf mains are going to complain and argue so they maintain their position to be able to bully killers but this needs to be counteracted with information gained through the difference between solo q and swf.
In conclusion there are extremes to this game that hold the opposite hostage because of their advantage. This instance is Swf holds solo q hostage because of their heavy advantage forces killers to play dirty or run busted build over all teams including teams that are unable to handle it like solo q.
There are other conversations on the opposite end that need to be talked about. How nurse and blight and other busted killer builds make survivors feel like that they need to be in a swf to survive them.
However as of right now swf is top dog and needs to be addressed first.
All I want is the extremes to be brought in so that we all can enjoy the game in spite of the sweaty players. Please be productive if you are adding to the conversation.
From what I've noticed of their changes over the years, it's plain to me they do not balance the game around either extreme of the playerbase.
Nor do they wish to impose any crazy tourney limitations on anyone, preferring players to run what they like for builds.

Maps spawning in a very convenient 3-gen will always hit solos wayyyyyyy harder than those on comms. Now you have to rely on decent game sense, which is dubious and unpredictable in solo queue.
It is very much a map problem combined with game sense.

This is incorrect.
It was 100 on Steam as well. At some point it was changed, however, Console (or maybe only Sony is the reason) really does not like changing Achievements when they are still obtainable, so it stayed at 100 because of this.
Yeah the console makers are notoriously reluctant to ever allow achievement/trophy changes unless they're absolutely unattainable.
