Steam charts only tell part of the story. Most of the playerbase is on the consoles, and those numbers we cannot ever know. So we guess the patterns are similar across all platforms, not an unreasonable thing to do, but in the end just a guess.

Yes, it was.
I am pretty sure I still remember how to do that. I mean, the precise moments you should drop the survivor to avoid the DS Skill Check.
I lost a few more of those myself back then, it was much more annoying with a controller. I always imagined that the surv got a lucky three or four o'clock skill check when it did happen and they hopped off.

We already had 4 seconds though. Back when DS could be used before you got hooked.
For that version of the perk, 4 seconds was okay. Well, technically 4.5 because the perk was a little glitched, but either way the stun time was alright. After all, it wasn't an anti-tunnel perk, it was an anti-momentum perk.
But if DS is to be an anti-tunnel perk again, then it has to have 5 seconds of stun time. Less than that won't work.
Was this back in the dribblin to the hook days? 🤪

If you're on Steam uninstalling & reinstalling then verifying the files may correct this. What platform?

It's the best option for consistency, rest are less reliable over time

Hi there!
I've been playing DBD for a little over 2 years now on PC and recently moved over to console (Xbox series X). Coming to console I knew I was saying goodbye to KBM on DBD and I've really been trying to master the controller. It would have been nice to have the option for KBM though, as I've played with both I think I just prefer KBM a lot more. It's not nice NOT having the option to use the tools you as the consumer prefer. Couple this with the disappointment that DBD had no cross platform progression, so I'm paying for all my old characters again and grinding out prestiges and MMR from scratch.
My question is, is there any plans on making DBD keyboard and mouse compatible in the near future? There is a bunch of us who would like to see this feature come to the game. The future is now!
Thank you in advance ☺️
Been asked for many many times over the years. Last word was from one of the recent Q&A's, reiterating that they have no plans to add it sadly. If not that, then we need some more robust setting options for the controllers please.

Players also scream for smaller maps to ease gen patrol on the less mobile killers. Shrink the maps and that has to shove gens even closer together.

Well, at least I'll be quiet and not be able to have my aura read while I'm back on the hook.
That's a good point! After that obnoxious scream heard across the map & onto the map next door, you can now enjoy complete serene silence!

A buff for DS is definitely not "unasked for".
There have been several requests for that to happen, ever since the perk was unnecessarily nerfed to 3 seconds. We want it back to 5 seconds, at the very least, so we can put an end to the sheer wave of tunneling we're currently seeing.
People call for back to 5sec, others say 3sec is fine. So my meager mathical skills say we should test out 4sec!
-
I too would support console-only Cross Play, but it'll never happen. It was added in the first place to unite the playerbase, not divide it. With most of the players on the consoles, queue times for those on PC would soar if this was added & consoles opted out in big numbers. And with most of the content creators and all of the Fog Whisperers on PC that would be disastrous.
To your point about about cheaters & hackers etc. they can and have made their way into lobbies that were just consolers as well. Isolating PC like this wouldn't help in that regard.

So for the past maybe three months I've been getting nothing but killer daily rituals...I barely play killer(matchmaking being the main issue) I more play survivor so why not just give me survivor based dailies to do shouldn't the game realize that I'm not doing my dailies to maybe oh I don't know change the side the dailies are on?
They said several years back they themselves weren't too happy with the Daily Ritual system and we're looking into changing it. Haven't heard a thing about that since, so I'd assume its priority has gone away.
I believe the way it works is it takes into account the role you play most often, and issues dailies for the opposite role to encourage the player to play the other role. Kinda the bare bones predecessor to the killer/survivor bp bonuses we see in the menu screen nowadays.

@GeneralV said:
Yes, it would be amazing.
But we could have that as a permanent feature, client side. DBD supports people playing on the same maps with different lighting, modders actually did that back when modding was possible.
So, why not extend that to the visuals themselves?
Maybe it would put you in a disadvantage, but I would willingly pay that price. I just want to play on the maps I loved.
Yes please! Some form of old school maps!!

Just a small list the title implies:
- common perks being added to the shrine of secrets, not a really big one, but each new character does require 50+ levels being spend before I can guarantee having Kindred or Sloppy Butcher on tier 3, while I can run full meta builds on tier 3 from level 15 and higher.
- Survivors being able to "roughly" get the location of their teammates at all times. More and more killers join the list of "can hold their own against comms", which means soloQ gets harder and harder. (personally, a survivor-like killer instinct is my best suggestion for this, the longer a teammate stands still, the better you can determine their location).
- Killers having a Terror Radius pass. The size used to be linked to movementspeed alone, but I think we can safely say that one depending on lethality matters more. Trapper having a 24 meter TR is more than enough to warn survivors he's coming, Nurse having 36 meters would actually make her so nice to play against. I could list all of my personal suggestions, but most of all Pig deserves her old 24 meters back.
Decent ideas. To your second point, maybe something based on Chucky's footsteps kinda like an echo effect that pings the last known location every 30 seconds or so. Numbers can be played with of course. Could be a killer perk effect that does this too.

This game wasn't designed for a party system, it gives an unfair advantage. Not only will it make killers happy, also survivors as well because now you wont have a reason to make unfair updates to killers in order for them to battle SFW. Wasnt lack of communication intended? so why can people join in parties but you don't add any way to communicate. I don't understand why there isn't an option to opt out of it yet other games have it. I am not in a party so I shouldn't be put with people in it. SFW ruins the game for not only killers but solo Q survivors as well.
I don't understand what is hard about giving us the option to opt out. I don't want to play against people on comms, if I did I would have played texas chainsaw. don't want to play with SWF as survivor, they ruin every match and most people agree.
Around half of all survs are in at least a two-man SWF. If all killers opted out of playing against them, as nearly all would, then queue times would become unbearable for everyone.
-
This system is meant to discourage just defending a close 3-gen from the very start of the trial, and to help mitigate the super lengthy 3-gen situations near the end of the trial that a few killers excelled at.

Yes, but unlike DBD, MYM's pc playerbase is below 100.
My point was that DBD is not bhvr's only successful game and that while not as big, MYM has a big enough playerbase despite it being mostly on console.
Where as with DBD, even without console, it would still have a big enough playerbase to keep the game going with pc alone
I don't think our PC cousins would enjoy the queue times if they were somehow isolated from the consoles.
-
Hooks are a funny thing, always have been. At first they could be permanently destroyed, and too few & spaced out, leaving just the basement. Later they could be 99% saboed kinda like the doors are since EGC was added.
Always present was the rng element. Every killer has seen their hooks wayyyyyyy too close together one trial, and the next you can't find one within half a kilometer.
Nowadays there are screams for maps to be smaller and smaller, but we aren't thinking it through. Shrinking the maps shoves hooks closer together sure, but that creates more problems, just as they shove the gens closer as well, again creating more problems. It always circles back to the map design really.

The main issue Adrenaline will forever be overpowered, isn't because of the effect it has on one person.
It's the effect on 4 Players at once.
I don't think Adrenaline is overpowered when only one person is running it, but when all 4 are running it.
To avoid removing the speed and the health state effects, simply make it activate under this one situation:
Adrenaline Increases the chance of you becoming the Obsession:
Adrenaline now only activates for the Obsession:
This would make teams have to properly play around who uses what obsession changing perk, and you can always use FTP to regain it in the middle of the match if need be. (Just be careful not to pop the last gen while broken).
---------------------
Some people argue "But It Rewards you for doing your Objective". Which I find to be a TERRIBLE argument because of how it sounds on the other side.
That would be like a killer perk that makes it so when the first survivor dies, one gen explodes and loses 100% of it's current progress...
All killers would simply tunnel the first survivor they catch EVEN MORE. "But It Rewards you for doing your Objective" is exactly what they would say.
Killing Survivors is the objective so it would be correct.
This doesn't mean it would be fair or balanced though.
Adrenaline should not reward people for simply Rushing their objective (Gen Rushing) by possibly using BNP (Which are still VERY OP btw) on commodious toolboxes.
I don't like this proposal. So no matter how many survs run Adrenaline, only one will pop, assuming they even get to endgame. Also, the killer knows who the obsession is, so all they would have to do is hard tunnel out that one surv and never have to worry about Adrenaline ever popping on anyone. Fun times for that surv.
All this change would do is make survs not ever run Adrenaline any more. Is that the intention?

Meet your Maker seems to be doing fine even though majority of the players are on console.
What does the platform used have to do with it? The vast majority of DBD players are also on the consoles.
-
How would this be actually accomplished? My understanding is the offerings are applied while loading up the trial, not within the lobby.
Would your proposed change only affect that particular surv, or all of them? If all, then what happens when there's a dodge?
-
@BugReporterOnly said:
That shouldn't be allowed. It is a nightmare to counter on console. That tech should be gone. Maybe make it so they can't point it down enough so that won't work. I don't see a point of pointing down the flashlight that low anyway.
Can you elaborate on this please? What exactly is happening when a surv does this? What's the context of it occuring, and what does it accomplish? What are you attempting to counter?
-
@floppytuna said:
If you can see survivors in the lobby then survivors should be able to see you.
No way fam. This would lead to unprecedented amounts of dodging. The iffy matchmaking we have now would be trashed completely, and those that play Nurse or Blight or Wesker or even Skull Merchant would never get a game again. Queue times would become unmanageable af.
-
@BugReporterOnly said:
I'm sick and tired of 6 second swapping. Once in a lobby they shouldn't be able to swap anything except perks.
It is crazy that the last second swapping bs survs can do is still in the game. Sometimes it is simple doing the bloodweb on one surv then switching back, but usually it is just done with evil intentions truthfully.
One way to kill off that would be to get rid of the lobbies entirely, players just load into the trial. Would greatly help with lobby shopping as well.

I think everyone who played this game for a while had some matches where things where just not adding up. Either the distance the survivor gained while out of sight or the game sense the killer had looking behind that particular rock for a survivor right after entering the area.
Well bhvr does take these things serious. But they need your assistance. I started recording matches whenever something felt wrong and was able to expose multiple cheaters and people with no in game behaviour since then.
It really feels so good to send a report and see that ingame notification a day or two later. Don't get me wrong, sending a report because the killer hits you once on the hook or because of tunneling really is not worth your time or the time of the support team.
On the other hand it is really important to send evidence about cheaters, people who can't behave in the game (like killers humping a survivor or hitting you on the hook constantly all day long) or people who take the game way too serious and start to threat you in the end game chat.
Reporting is a tool which is there for us to help the team keeping the game in a healthy state (which may sound odd but healthy state is not relating to balancing here).
We should use it only when we feel confident we witnessed something that is opposing the game rules/mechanics, so the team can react to a report and is not drowning in meaningless reports.
I agree with the sentiment that the cheaters and hackers should all get reported, but their reporting system places an awful burden onto the players.
Most people do not record their stuff, and those that do need to ship them through YouTube because the file size has to be tiny otherwise. There seems to be various ways to do all this on PC, but for us consolers it's horrendous.
And then there's our precious Switch cousins. Love you guys! ❤️💝 These poor bastards had their ability to record their matches removed years ago, in an attempt to improve game performance. What in the Entity's bright blue bunghole are they supposed to do?

There is a number of games that run with no issue on next gen consoles at 120fps. Is there something that would not allow DBD to run at such rate?
Also, why not add the other graphics settings that PC players have available since, I think, last year?
Back in 2019 they set a goal of getting all platforms that run DBD to get 60fps minimum. Like two years back they fessed up that they just couldn't do it, saying there's a resource bottleneck problem that apparently is insurmountable.
So basically it comes down to how the game was originally coded. I imagine that's why we won't see 120 steady anytime soon. SSD's do help quite a bit, but yeah it's the code.

Hello, friend! It has been a while.
Truth be told, no matter what they do to Freddy I'll always main him. If his awful rework back in 2019 wasn't enough to make me abandon him then nothing is. But it feels bad, you know? It has been over four years since my favorite killer was literally taken away, and replaced with a boring mess.
A boring mess that often lacks a power to work with.
But I have hope I'll get my killer back eventually.
Here ya go. Thinking you seeing some of these may put a smile on ya! 😎
-
Easy to near that limit inside Gideon.
-
The only change Adrenaline needs is to remove the wake-up effect that solely harms Freddy, who needs lovinz badly.
It is a strong perk, but the surv has to get to endgame on three perks to even see it pop. That fact alone warrants its strength imo.
-
Ahhhh our Freddy main. Hello again GeneralV 😃
The last time I ran him it was a splinter on my Myers wayyyyyyy before the major rework. I seem to recall it taking like 9 seconds to put a surv to sleep, and there was around 137 ways for them to wake themselves or each other up.
As for today's Freddy I just think he's even more of a noob-stomper than by beloved Piggy, all because few know how to deal with him in the beginning. Against decent survs, or really just those paying some attention during the game, he gets soul-drainingly weaker and weaker until he's almost useless. Sad, and he should he one of the most badass killers as a licenced one plus lots to draw from in all those movies. Even his mori seems uninspired and a lil lame.
You've got grapefruit sized cajones to main him in his current state my friend!

The lawsuit is ‚settled‘ though the ip is split between the two parties. One side owns the original movie script with Jason’s mother as killer, little boy Jason, the Vorhees name, Camp Crystal Lake. The other owns the sequels stuff, including the iconic Jason we know. It’s a mess and I think it’s even messier because the rights work differently in the US.
This is likely the problem, and what primarily brought down the latest game for Friday the 13th.
No dev can likely work out an agreement with both parties, and yeah legally it would be a tangled nightmare to unravel.
-
The last time.i had the issue of cosmetics, charms, and loadouts all being reset was when I updated the game on my Xbox and started it then is said "Ready to Start" even though it had several gigs left of the patch to download. Ever since then I've always let the update fully download before starting DBD, and I haven't had the issue again.
Hopefully that's the problem, assuming the PlayStations update the same way. If not then yeah big report etc.

What everyone needs to keep in mind is the mobile version was coded from the ground up by an entirely different team. This gave them the opportunity to add in & make it easier to add in lots of cool stuff. The PC/console version's code is over seven years old, and apparently quite the unwieldy beast to play with.

Billy's not too bad on console. He's hard to control but you can still do curves and stuff. I don't think you can do that one pallet break 180 trick but that'll probably be patched out eventually anyway. He's a great killer but he's really hard to learn and that applies to PC/Console both.
I also feel Nurse difficulty is very overexaggerated on console; she's really not that bad. Trickster is probably the hardest console killer and about the only one I'd consider "unplayable".
Without the recoil Trickster graduated from unplayable to just completely miserable on console. Singularity is prolly the new champ as far as being total poop with a controller and on a console.
Nurse needs an absurd amount of practice to git gud wit & master on console, perhaps more than any other killer. That is if the frame gods are being generous that day, which is asking a lot from the older gen machines. She is just meant to be run with a mouse & keyboard, as are the designs of all the killers really.

Do you know the official reason?
When they first released Anonymous Mode it was active on Xbox too, for maybe two weeks or so. The way it was implemented apparently violated several of Xbox's player visibility policies, and was removed in the next patch. I believe they said it is not to return.

If they are not going to change or remove map offerings, at least reduce the rarity of the Sacrifical Ward so we can use it more often.
Increase the rarity to max, but give them multiple uses, like 3-4 before they completely burn away.
Or balance out the maps, so picking one is simple preference and not for massive advantage. That might work too. 🤪
-
I think I've dodged maybe five times ever, years ago.
Once I learned just how badly it messes up the matchmaking system I can't bring myself to do it. I firmly believe the resultant backfilling is the biggest issue with MMR we have, and is the leading cause of the grossly mismatched trials out there.

Then they should try to level the playing field so PC players can’t fully dog on console players because they just have to move their mouse a quarter of an inch and spin like a top.
How would they do that? Dumb down the PC version? That's no way, nor is it fair.
If we're forever to be trapped on a controller, then I'd love more setting options on them. Sensitivity presets for surv and various killers, deal with the dead zones in the sticks, lessen the input lag, allow more binding possibilities, etc.
-
While I too think this would be great, I just don't see it happening. The intent was to combine the playerbase & create one community, and for that reason alone they're unlikely to go back on that. The often glaring performance and gameplay differences (especially on the older gen machines) has always taken a back seat to this imo.
A suspicious mind may say it was also to greatly improve PC queue times, if you have a suspicion mind. Let's think this through:
Say they allow this, and the console players massively opt out of including PC. That means Steam, Epic, and Windows players become isolated from the vast majority of the overall playerbase. Their queue times now are horrendous. Most of the content creators (and each & every one of the Fog Whisperers) are on PC, and they see their queue times all go to poop. Not hard to work out what then follows...
Never gonna happen.
-
I agree. The current tutorials are woefully inadequate, for both roles really. Because of the amount of unique content & varying powers and add-ons of the different killers, there's just so much to take in for new players. The best option should no be go YouTube it.

Why would the declining player count trend be any different for other platforms vs Steam? I'm not sure how Epic would "take away" players from Steam - why would people switch to Epic if they already bought the game on Steam??
The vast majority of the playerbase is on all of the consoles, and it's not really that close, with most of them on the PlayStations. We get to see Steam numbers, and probably can find those for Epic, but unfortunately we cannot ever see the numbers for the consoles.
All we can do is assume the patterns are similar for the number of players across all platforms, and that isn't too unreasonable, but it really is a guess.

The incentive is almost always on killer. Survivor queues can take ages while killer queues are instant.
There's a huge shortage of killers already. I reckon the game will do just fine if there are more killers playing. It'll making queuing up for Survivor much more bearable, and with a more evenly balanced playerbase matchmaking might actually have a chance to work.
I see the incentive vary throughout the day between killer and surv. So I believe it strongly depends on region, MMR, and time of day as to what we see.
