I know how it is because i came from Xbox to PC. I was just so fed up with controller and frames tbh
So you escaped! And no doubt remember how challenging the frames can be on the indoor maps!

A simple explanation to this would suffice. It doesn’t make sense to me why we are forced to play against SWF but we can opt out of cross-play.
Most haven't opted out of Crossplay (although I have) but very very few killers won't dodge a known SWF of any size. There are far too many survs playing with at least one friend, and disrupting that would likely cause one of two things to happen; first is too many survs stop playing completely, or second they old school it and lobby dodge until paired up like they used to before SWF. Both will kill queue times very badly.
Without having recent stats I cannot say the harm it would do exactly, but it would certainly squash the benefit of Crossplay and then some imo. Wish we had access to the numbers to know for sure.

I think they're saying that its not the gameplay mechanics of Doctor, it's that their frames take a huge dip playing against him due to everything happening (getting shocked, illusionary doctors, static blasts, etc.), because the same thing happens to me and my specs are fine
Doc's been doing that on console for years. Guess i got used to it. However for an fps-drop fiesta, I invite y'all PCrs to play on an Xbox. With doc. On Lery's. Pretty please!

Its Not about how to outplay him its the fact that my game seizes up everytime I play against him. Too much is going on and the lag sets in hard.
Doc to me is much more annoying than leathal. His rework made him better at loops, and he was always good at tracking & messing up skill check. But others simply can kill faster and better.
Keep moving around and never ever 3-gen yourselves and you should be ok. And yes Calm Spirit is an excellent counter to him but few run it.

If being notified that there is a swf in the game would result in killer dodging, then how in the hell would more BP fix the problem when BP gain is not even a problem?
It wouldn't. Darn near every killer would dodge a known SWF, no matter how many. I would. BP is not the solution either imo.
-
Add a gate regression effect to Hex: Ruin. So the killer is rewarded if the pesky lil fella makes it that long in a trial.

I assume inviting someone to your survivor lobby inside DBD would make it activate, wouldn't have anything to do with party chat.
Just saying it could be implemented fairly easily on a technical level, as it's an in-match mechanical debuff it's not like it would ever be implemented.
Might work. Usually I invite a friend through the chat not the game, but maybe.
-
@Kind_Lemon said:
Again, SWF comms should be one perk slot down for every person in the lobby. The empty slots would be filled the "SWF perk", the one that allows for survivors to communicate across the Fog.
I would be more willing to play with and against SWF that way.
How would this be enforced? Dunno about other platforms, but on Xbox the party chat is entirely separate from any game being played. Heck we can even be playing different games. And a few years back i believe Microsoft mandated any game they accept cannot interfere with the party chats in any way. What could the devs do even if they wished?

Many of Piggy's add-ons either hurt or barely help her, so I have a hard time calling her dependant on them.

I pray for xbox may your fix be good and fast so you can dash and be glorious 🐖
I will be hunting and killing again, but not at the expense of the console itself. Meanwhile y'all get after those dirty, filthy, non-booping survs for meeeeeeeeee

Welp loading the game menu causes my Xbox 1x to instantly overheat and shut down. Did it eleven times in a row. Even lowering the resolution like they said did not help.
Guess what I won't be playing until the next patch? Come watch me play The Long Dark or KoA Re-Reckoning on Twitch bois n guls...

So, the Q&A was yesterday. What did you guys/gals think about the answer we got?
@Nobsyde @bm33 @Ryuzaki @JPLongstreet @Pulsar
I got the feeling that they are just hoping the issues to fix themselves as they upgrade the graphics. But we didn't get any answer to the problems with killer powers (doc, demo), status effects or the quite new maps with most problems (lery's, hawkings). All in all they answered very shortly to the question and didn't go into much detail.
How has the FPS been for you after the patch?
I have only played survivor but there's been the same problems with stutters and fps drops.
Edit. Also interested to hear what @SnakeSound222 @The__High_Ground @MrsPiggyIsSoSneaky think.
I need to game and experiment more this weekend, and will get back to ya! :)

As a killer on Xbox absolutely. Turning with a controller is slower (even with the sensitivity adjustments a few patches ago) and apparently there is a thing called "flick" that I have yet to master.
But the huge gap is in machine performance, where I rarely get 30 fps consistently and far lower than that on the indoor maps (lookin accusantly at you Lery's). The Blight update actually smoothed out frames somewhat on many of the newest maps some, but the older maps (and indoor) all have the frame drops console has been dealing with for going on 2yrs now.
Any status effect triggering like Bloodlust, Exposed, Sloppy, etc. drops frames hard, as does Myers teiring up, searching a chest, breaking a pallet, being near a gen when it pops, and several others. And Entity help you if you are in struggle phase when one of these causes a frame drop, because it can be fatal. It is less noticable as a survivor but there nonetheless.
This lack of full optimization is the main reason why I turned off Crossplay, as I cannot consider it a fair chance to include PC players yet.

One issue I've noticed is, that once everyones had their fun with new survivors/killers, the PTB dies. It lasts maybe 2 days and they're gone. They do need to add some kind of incentive to keep people playing it. Another thing, they should try get it into console. I'm PS4 myself, so I don't get access to the PTB, but if they made it console-accessible, there would be a ton more players to test the issues, and it would make it easier to identify issues since PC and Console may have seperate issues.
Getting the PTB on consoles has been asked for many times, and i believe the stated reason why they cannot do it is because they are literally changing game files. Whenever they do that (say for patches or new chapters)it all had to be sent to Sony or Microsoft for approval. And that can take several days or even weeks to get. I imagine Nintendo would be the same.
-
Consoles cannot be part of any PTB because many game files are being changed, which takes days if not weeks to be approved by Sony or Microsoft.
-
Consolers: what language is this?
-
On Xbox this has been a thing since ded servers came
-
I've seen the idea tossed about to have such a totem counter in the basement, as scratches on a wall resembling the DBD logo as well. This I would not mind.

I won't be able to try out this chapter until the weekend, but the various posts I've read so far have not given me the warm fuzzies...

That's the problem with a game like this, it's constantly evolving and the devs are upgrading their own software along with making the game stay with the new up and coming technology, it's the only way this game can survive the next gen coming and stay relevant is to keep upgrading but the bad part is it's at a point now where a significant amount of players are gonna have to upgrade to have an enjoyable experience, I have a 3000 dollar PC and even it's been experiencing a very small fps drop but nothing to rant over
I hear ya, but it's hard to shake the feeling of being forgotten and then left behind, only to start over from scratch if we choose to...

To all the people who complain about frame drops and performance issues on console, just buy a pc
That's your solution? Buy a PC with our extra magical pile of money to properly run a 2016 game? That was "goaled" to be optimized in late 2018.
And remember there's no Cross Progression and likely not going to be one with Xbox, so we all would have to buy the game again, and all the dlc's again, plus any cosmetics too. Oh and all of our characters are back to lvl 1 so we grind again as well.
Would you do all that to continue to play this game? Be honest please...

I've never been booped before. I needed this.
It can happen very early in a match. They spot you, crouch, and wait to see what you do. If you are still they often will approach and boopage occurs. Or like I said earlier there is a dc or you are dominating them, and then boop.
It's all up to you how to respond. Has led to awesome after game messages, and a couple of new friends!

It's more a case for some Pigs, like myself, that I'm here for the game first, memes and farming later.
Even though I don't take this game seriously, I still want to try.
Fair enough. If there is a dc or two and the dirty filthy survs respectfully approach me and boop, then there can be farm-like shenanigans.
Prolly let em both go if they're cute enough...

That's fair. And I have seen posts about fps problems. I guess I didn't realize how bad it is. Is it worse for killer though? It seems like most of the survivors I've had dc when I'm playing killer (on a controller mind you, but they don't know that) have been 1) Immediately after down, 2) Immediately after being picked up, or 3) Right as they are being placed on the hook. Those don't seem to be technical issues.
The frame drops are much more of a problem for killers, but effects us all. Things like being Exposed, hit with Sloppy, searching Chests, Myers teiring up, all come with serious fps drops, and is worse indoors.
But to your point, those first down and first hook dc's are bs and i hope the DC penalties when back up give those survs the time they need to go play Civ or whatever.
-
I never DC unless the game itself tosses my happy ass, telling me i need an Internet Connection, despite both my xbox party chat and stream staying up. For me it is not about a mouse or not, it is all about fps.
Ever since the last two patches came out (chainsaw bros reworks and the one after) my frames have been horrible. Worse on any of the indoor maps, especially on Lery's. I tried Croosplay the day it started and in both roles, but it was terrible, and imo impossible to play as killer. All of consoles existing performance problems seem to deepen, and if you look around the forum others have spoken about this as well.
I cannot defend a console surv instantly dc'ing each and every time during their first down or such, but I have to believe a couple must be because of fps crushing their gameplay.

If you are referring to Cross Progression then no both Xbox and PS4 do not have this option. I believe the devs said it isn't coming anytime soon or words to that effect. I hope down the road it comes.
-
Bunny Mamma and Slinger are challenging to kill with on Xbox. Faced precious few in the red ranks, most relying on stuck-in-animation ranged hits and use their melee attack more often. Like all platforms, the ranged hits that land all look like misses.
Nurse is all but impossible to play and quite rarely seen. May have been lucky, but have never been in a 4k match with one (I don't do Crossplay) and 1-2k only happen when we are screwing around. Not even NOED helps, usually a free escape.
Edit: no doubt I was the worst Nurse ever until I abandoned her. Fsp drops and latency and a controller all simply crush her potential.

Exactly they are making it out to seem like its totally unplayable against PC. I does not matter what you use so what we get WASD all the buttens you need are right next to your fingers as well. and about us having headphones I know for a fact PS4/Xbox you can connect headphones that are just as good as ours.
The major difference is playing as killer on a console. We all have to deal with the same maps, bugs, and perks, but it is in this role that the frame drops hurt so bad. Please please please if you're on PC borrow a friend's PS4 or whatever and give it a go as a killer.

Because they didn't balance voice coms into the game as it's OP and gives unfair advantage to Survivors.
Yet they allow Survivors to use 3rd party programs to do exactly that which I find hilarious and extremely hipocritical.
It's not a question of "allow" at least on Xbox. The party chat is entirely separate from any game (we can and do even play different games at the same time) and a few years back I believe Microsoft mandated any game they accept cannot interfere with the party chats in any way. So how could any dev mess with it if they cared to do so?

@JPLongstreet I think it is a PC thing. Otherwise you can check their profile if it's shared console and gauge their hours based on % of trophies unlocked. Not precise but neither is hours logged.
Ok I think the trophies might be PlayStation stuff, so maybe like the Achievements we get on Xbox. Ty

@Jyn_Mojito said:
I don't know percentages of each console or PC that are responsible for DC, but I can say as a PS4 user I notice it with particular killers (Huntress, Ghostface).
I also PERSONALLY have had to DC due to fps issues. There have been times during match my survivor can't come out of crouch after working on gen.
So it might not be a particular console specific mindset, but rather a specific console ISSUE OR EXPERIENCE that is causing DC. Just a thought.
I've been stuck crouching plenty of times on my Xbox. Vaulting or Dwighting fix it for me.

I agree. And I am part of the player base that would uninstall this game in an instant. I came to DbD as a means of getting away from Overwatch when it gets to be too much, since the goddamned Overwatch League and Blizzard's need to balance around "what looks good to watch," has pretty much flushed any real sense of balance in that game down the toilet.
Overwatch taught me that I will never again touch a PvP game with an integrated e-sports scene.
I'm almost 48 years old, and before 2016 pretty much only PvP'ed in MMOs, which I played since EQ1 launched. I didn't play shooters until Overwatch, and although knew of the Starcraft e-sport scene, didn't care to follow it. And even back in the day when I played Starcraft (I started with Blizzard games in 1994 with Warcraft 1), I avoided the PvP in it.
I hear ya fellow 40s-ish. I pay for a private server in DayZ just so I avoid the PvP aspect of it. There are very few shooters I play.
