Yeah its helping me to think more like the other. I didn't even realize the lights on top of gens signal where they are to survivors so I couldn't find any gen as a survivorbat first. But now I can see them lol

Yup simple things like that, or that the lights flicker on buildings with an unfinished gen in it on Badham & Haddonfield and such, and are solid when the gen is done if it has no gen inside it.

It also will help in learning tiles, routing, and safe vs. unsafe pallets. First person view compared to third make many things look quite different.

I play on Switch and try to not be q cheap killer. Im still learning (been playing 1 month) so camping/tunneling are instinctive by nature like a dog watching over their food.

I think people see the killer/survivor as enemies and its easy to get salty since the objectives are in opposition.

Trying to get better and I just started enjoying the Shape and am playing more survivor to see more of their POV.

Playing both roles in DBD, even just a little bit, will made ya better at either.

Thank you for being considerate even in a competitive game. It means the world to me when I'm doing poorly as killer and have a player stare at me as they get taken by the EGC, or when killers who, even when they lose, still say 'gg' or something nice like that. We don't always have to play fair, and I think everyone falls into that mentality of 'well they can't win if we abuse this,' but whatever, it's a game lol. It's just super cool to meet players that respect each other even when things aren't going well for them. Sorry if this post is dumb, I just wanted to get this off my chest haha :)!

This sentiment made me smile, thank you.

If you look at the game long term, they have not increased their numbers dramatically. The most dramatic increase was during the covid months. Other than that, they started 4 years ago with 11,000 average players and averaged about 23,000 before covid. It's clear that they've reached their peak players this year. Since there's a current downtrend and there's no news of anything really happening for a while, we can assume the trend to continue. Keep in mind they've also released a major DLC during this time as well and that didn't even save it.

No one is going from PC to console. Just like no one is going from ferrari's to model Ts

Pretty sure my Xbox was just called an old ass Model T ;)

When I start as the killer and walked (doctor) to the farthest generator with no stops and the players are able to finish that generator before I get there, that is a problem in this game. I had zero chance to stop that gen from being done as at least 3 players started by it.

I get that players will finish some gens and a good match should be close, but having 0% chance to stop the first gen is just Not well balaneced.

In this case Corrupt Intervention could have helped, or a more mobile killer, but the first two gens can go sooooooo fast I feel ya.

I wish this game just had more granular button mappings in general; this is just one example of the issues this causes. I can't even tell you how many times I've accidentally jumped into a locker when trying to vault a window, accidentally wasted my Saboteur while trying to heal someone under the hook, or accidentally dropped a pallet while trying to hit a skill check that popped up at the very end of my heal while healing under a pallet.

I have an entire keyboard devs, I would like for all of the actions in the game to not be on the same few buttons!

This is one of the few issues that affects both sides. I too wish some actions could be remapped. Starting to search a chest instead of vaulting or whatever is very fustrating.

With a keyboard at least there's options, but my Xbox controller only had so many inputs. But yeah let me play around with some actions on it.

I want Survivors to break their legs when they fall from a building.

And maybe see what the hell a killer actually gets stabbed with by DS.

"Whatever is at hand" seems so unsatisfying to me.

Every match on my Xbox has always been triple digit ping...

That's true, yeah. But I think they should've maybe nerfed it instead of reworking it. Maybe make great skill checks bigger, idk.

Making the skill check zone larger won't help much with 10-15 frames, especially on one of the indoor maps.

  • I agree, however it is somewhat restrictive on console. Typing out messages of any length beyond a gg with a controller is a lil time consuming, and at the end most players won't wait around long. Perhaps if there were k&m support on consoles...

Others may point out this would only become another salt & toxicity avenue, but that part doesn't really bother me. Anyone who plays even a tiny bit of killer begins to grow thicker skin due to such messages anyway.

Had a game the other night cosplaying as park ranger Billy where the first survivor I hit dc'ed, the next gave up, and left two in bunny costumes all on their lonesome. Played around with them for a bit so we all got points then started herding them to gens, somewhere along the way they found a key and got out. :) Played another quick game and after that sure enough on the next go around got my rabbit friends AND the folk what left them to dry. Didn't think they were a team from earlier behavior. Anyway, the mori was loaded and targets set. The bunnies recognized me once we were in and we danced around for a bit before the other two met a tragic end, carelessly falling onto hooks then tripping on a chainsaw. Tearjerking, let me tell you. Once the rabbits finished the gens I opened a gate and wandered around, cleaning up pallets and we went our merry ways once more. :)

A real shame they kept tripping and falling onto a chainsaw. Prolly should be more careful with their gaming life decisions...

Downing all the tea bagging SWF near the start of the game as Leatherface and leaving them slugged until they died.

Ahhh yassss truely wholesome. Even more truely Bubba.

With about 4min of free time at the end of such a match, you could have drawn out "teabag" a few times with fresh slugblood, called it art. ;)

  • I wouldn't mind a visual change for the broken key. The super rare times I bring a key it is a broken one with tracking add-ons. But all a killer sees in the lobby is a key and they have to assume it could be used on hatch, often making changes in their loadout when seeing it or dodging.

Well, I dont suggest punishments for dc. Im up only for rewards for those who can stay to motivate players to stay.

Hopefully, devs will check this topic and take a note of it. More bp wouldnt hurt. Those who stay deserve it. :^)

Agreed. Plus the grind is real.

  • @28_stabs said:

Instead of punish, I would reward players for not dc'ing.

Add a stackable bp bonus for every completed game.

For example, it can be 5% for every game.

Players who dont dc for 20 game get double bp.

If they rage - they go back to normal 100% bp gain and they have to play 20 games again to get to double bp.

Also, add to the leave button a warning that they will lose their bp bonus. :^)

Edit: both suicide on hook (letting go the struggle) and leaving would reset bp bonus.

I'd support this if the game didn't lag me and my Xbox friends on outta the game with the "No Internet Connection" error, which of course is treated like a dc. Wish they could be tracked separately...

  • Rank 2 Ghosty Boi wreaks our team, me and another both on death hook manage to open the gates but I'm cut off and tell the other to bounce. I approach the other gate, GF is already there waiting.

I crouch once, and place carefully my trusty medkit in front of me. They crouch once, I open the gate, bow respectfully and leave.

Message them a GG and a thank you, and they shoot back a GG and a thanks for the medkit. I inform them the kit contains a Mountain Dew and a Snickers just for them, which draws a "gasp" response. I send enjoy.

Happy murder death kill time on the ol Xbox. An occasion when the messaging works out nicely.

Nah I'm a PC nerd. (I do have consoles, but I missed this current gen D:)

I play this game on low graphics even though I can run it on ultra because the idea that my hardware limits my gameplay always chafes me in the wrong way. I truly feel for the console gamers out there and hope the next gen consoles give you guys proper salvation.

I play on an Xbox1x, the strongest Xbox out there atm, and it rarely can play DBD at 30 frames, less than 20 indoors, although it is capable of much much more. About two years ago the devs set a goal of consistent 60 frames on console that never happened.

Also because I have a 1x model when Blight came out the game inta-overheated it each time the game initialized, and was unplayable for a week until the following patch. But the other Xbox models were not affected.

None of this makes me warm and fuzzy about next gens handling it any better...

Why ya gotta go 'round reporting peoples profiles my dude?

Just kidding. I think it's more that consoles have more survivors and PC has more killers. Red rank killer wait times were pretty spicy before crossplay.

Have you tried playing killer on console my dude? Please borrow a friend's PS4 or whatever and give it a go. Please. 15-10 frames on Lery's? Let's goooooooo good times...

Maybe I've just been lucky, but I play survivor just as much as killer but I rarely ever see a killer actually properly do either of these things. Like maybe once or twice a month I'll come across one.

I know there's quite a few people on here that claim they get it constantly and say it's the biggest problem with the game right now and I honestly wonder if it is really that bad for some people.

Tbf some people's definition of what camping and tunnelling is can be very broad so I do take these claims with a grain of salt

Some camping but more tunneling lately. More Keys and Mori's than usual too, like players are using them up before a potential double nurf.

Like others have said Entity help ya if there's no Obsession...

Not understanding how I’m getting loaded into match after match after match and at least one, sometimes two, people are disconnecting at the beginning. I know it’s happened to my cousin a few times on his PlayStation and PC, the game just crashes. I’m on XBOX and I haven’t disconnected yet, and I haven’t noticed the killers disconnecting either!

Played a few games last night, only one didn't have an unintentional dc, and one even during loading and was cancelled. On Xbox as well. Typical I'd say these days.

To professional swf bullshit I mean? I can't emulate any of it.

I get every pallet thrown in my face as killer. Switch sides I get downed inside the two posts while mashing R1. If I even have the gaul to stand next to a pallet as survivor I get utterly ######### while they do it. Every. Time.

I get looped around the hay baler and they stand on the raised drop. I've seen this before I think to myself. I can hit them. They're so stupid.

Not a single hit ######### connected. Clang clang clang. I'm forced to run around extending the chase by 4 minutes.

I watch as they run around the same loop 8 times. They're actually going faster while I'm getting bloodlust tier 15. ######### how?

Deathslinger shoots me with his gun. Oh I know what to do I think to myself. I immediately wedge myself between a car and another object. He just walks around while I'm still chained.

    Yes im mad.

I find Mountain Dew helps quite a bit....

There's no better perk for killer bloodpoints than BBQ & Chile, from the Cannibal. Look for it in the shrine to work around the $$ aspect.

Unfortunately most of the very good perks are pay perks...

  • @EvilJoshy said:

If there's one person who is walking out in the opening. Constantly teabagging anf clicking a flahslight it's best not to go after them. That person is probably the god looper of the swf or they haven't been hooked yet. They can afford to get downed while everyone else works on gens. If the survivors is deliberately trying to get your attention take a moment to determine if it's worth chasing him or not.

This is a good point. Also if they are running Object of Obsession they do want your attention and may be that expert looper you cannot afford to loop. Time management is king!

  • @ACube7 said:

i'm at rank 15 and around half of my killer games end-up as either me getting rolled buy a coordinated survivor team witch ends in me having a really boring match. without perks like hex ruin and pop-goes the weasel or even all of the killers i find there is really not much i can do except get rolled. i'm asking for any non toxic tactics in helping combat these well put together teams please and thank you.

Congrats on your first post and welcome!

Going against a coordinated team can be a real challenge, especially if they are on comms which is likely. Slow down/gen protection perks like Ruin, Corrupt Intervention, Pop, and a few others can help give you time to smack some survivors. But not everyone has all killers with all perks unlocked.

I find it usually comes down to your skill, your set-up, short chases, and often the map itself. To help you more we'd need to know who you play and your load-outs tried so far.

A general tip I can offer is teams will play very auteristic and save each other constantly, which can be taken advantage of especially in late game. If the gens are done and there's a surv on a hook you can pretty much guarantee they will go to save, often in a swarm. Use their tactics against them. Depending on your killer and where the gates are, a well-timed grab and slugging can secure that one kill and maybe get you another.

Another tip is play both roles, even just a little. Watch your team mates, learn their pathing and tendencies, and get a feel for tiles and safe/unsafe zones. Believe me you will be a better killer because of this.

    Good luck in the fog!

They don't and that's the whole point. They very much should consider it cheating when it de facto destroys the game balance, or actually do something with regard to balance to change that.

The matter of SWF being planned or not isn't really relevant. Whether playing with friends was intended or not, they sure as hell didn't (and still don't) balance the game around voice-communication existing. The only other even remotely reasonable alternatives are to (A) suck it up and bend to the other concession they've made by actually implementing voice-communication in the normal gameplay, or (B) at least attempt some other means of adjusting the game to account for SWF by buffing killers/solo survivors, although that's easier said than done and liable to create new issues.

These are the only means they'll ever even hope to somewhat balance this game. Everything else they do is an exercise in futility when any given match that's actually balanced when the players have voice communication literally cannot be balanced if assuming the same circumstances but the players don't have voice communication. One can be balanced or the other, but never both. Not while every other variable remains the same.

I cannot ever see the devs splitting up queues for 1-2 mans and for 3-4 mans either. They have consistently made changes to both not hurt queue times and not split the community up. It is the whole point of Crossplay, and hopefully full Cross Progression as well. Even if the queues were split, after a week at most nearly all killers would only head into the 1-2 pool, as would I.

So that leaves adding comms of some fashion globally. Getting that up and running will be insane indeed!

  • @Ecstasy said:

Honor system and punish people who testify against themselves by streaming/youtube etc.

Even just taking a stand to explicitly call it cheating and nothing else would have an incredibly impact on gameplay with people having to acknowledge that it's total bullshit and ruins this game.

You don't have to stop all of it to be effective. You just need to set some standards.

Even just knowing its against the rules will prevent many people from using it, or at least using it openly/intentionally/strategically, and the people who still do use it likely won't be as sweaty about it since they know it makes them trash instead of legit a-okay survivor playbook.

I thought the devs do not consider comms cheating, and that SWF was always intended to be part of the game but it wasn't quite ready for launch.

I'll look around for quotes, but I bet a mod could find em much quicker...

  • @ZCerebrate said:

Because with MMR right now - ranked mode is "social mode" for a majority of players. Ranking up is meaningless for the most part and BHVR already has plans to phase it out completely for their new hidden MMR system that has been honed by tracking millions of matches and will fix 99.9% of all issues of matching solo, duo, trio survivors and then the appropriate killer for each 4 man SWF to create perfect balanced matches.

It will also make you a peanut butter and jelly sandwich if you are feeling a bit blue. The future is almost here, any minute now.

Are we also getting our hover cars soon? I want my hover car dammit!

  • @Ghoste said:

SWF without comms would be the ideal matchup in DBD. The Survivors will play like a team but not be able to relay unfair amounts of info. Good for both sides.

How could the devs achieve this though? Comms are almost entirely out of their control.

Also counters A Nurse's Calling and BBQ (in the sense that your aura cannot be read while you're in a locker, so you can heal without any worries). The only drawback is that, on some maps, it can be difficult to find a healing chamber (that's what I've started calling lockers when I run this perk) before the killer finds you.

True but if there's a row of lockers a lil Quick n Quiet action can help.

And Entity help them if you happen to have Head On equipped as well...

  • A Huntress defending a hook is a dangerous beast indeed, and cannot really be dealt with there like most other killers because of her hatchets.

Best bet is to induce her to throw them all at mid to long range and then try to save. Good killers won't fall for this, and it likely will take a coordinated team effort to save them.
