Nothing sadder.
Of course we wish you'd stay.
Consequence shouldn't fall on the players.
Is this just a sign of what's to come?
Lost are those stuck in the mist.
Bye friend, disregard all but the first words.
-
Ignoring all the sarcasm and vitriol, Saw a vid on YT where you see the survs pulling off an unbreakable-bt-unhook type play after wriggling under the hook. Maybe the other players heard of or saw it and think it's easy to replicate and try it way too early?
Could just be a new fad.
No clue though. Makes no sense, takes the fun outta the game when they do it early, especially if nobody comes by and they can't get themselves up.
Had a game like that and felt bad for the poor sods, wasn't camping them, but they got left to rot. Dunno if their team was protesting the glitch or just that selfish.

This forum certainly isn't going to solve that issue.
Amen. But we gotta try. Can't change the game, but we can lead by example and show them it's just some rotten apples ruining the fun for all of us.
-
Punching bags are apparently what the majority want. Bad time to be a killer, you can't win with them and get them to see we're people.
Next Killer outta be a sandbag whose power is generating self stunning pallets, played by bots.

The only reason I "lumped" is because I know people here who play killer love to talk about all the ways they [BAD WORD] over some survs today and encourage others to do the same. Sorry it's taken too many words for me to make it clear I'm not targeting you specifically??
Never said you were, but thank you?
All I've said through far too many words is that generalizing by role is bad because those players do the same thing on the survivor side. They are one and the same.
I'm sorry you take such offense to that, I'm not trying to give you a hard time after a bad night, hopefully you'll have better games in the future.

You keep mentioning my bias, and I think yours is pretty clear, too. You seem really intent on negating the way that this experience differs from others, in favor of a "both sides" argument. I'm not here because of both sides. I'm here because there is a segment of players who, regardless of how others swap between roles, appear to play killer solely for the power and violence of the role, and the ability to use that maliciously against others. They do aggressive things and deny you the ability to play (literally, not like each teammate using DS or clicking flashlights), they make you feel powerless, and then they blame you for it. You can blame both sides all you want and sure, I'll acknowledge there are [BAD WORD] players in general. But they aren't usually enough of a problem for me to feel actually bullied.
Then mention that segment specifically and stop trying to lump us all in together.
If you don't think they're toxic players then why keep making posts about them?

I'm not suggesting that only the survivor view is the one that is best or correct. I'm saying that people selectively ignore that the people they're playing with aren't bots, they have a different view of the game, and it would help, I think, if many of the killers I see here on the forums considered that. Survivors aren't all out to get you. Sometimes they're just desperate to make the most out of a game that can be ended for them in two minutes as easily as ten.
Also no, I don't think just replacing killer with survivor in my post has the same meaning. Again, a killer can end a match very quickly for survivors if they feel like it. Some killers don't see the fact that they're playing with other human beings as a reason to be understanding or even a thing that's relevant to their gameplay. Sure, there are lousy survivors who only view their teammates as a means to an end, but as I said, they're lousy. Maybe because I started playing this game with friends, how I see it is just... different?
Then again, I was also taught to look at things like this as a collective activity. As in, even if the killer and survivors are on opposing sides, they have to "work together" to get the most from a match. If killer doesn't get hooks, survivors don't get heals and unhooks. If survivors don't do gens, they die. If killer doesn't get chases, survivors don't get boldness, etc. I'm not saying we all gotta be friends, just that we should acknowledge that we rely on each other to make this game work, and the least we can do is respect each other for that.
Once again, I'll agree with everything you're saying but the bias and stick to my point.
It's the players, not just those on Killer, not just Survivors, that do these things.
If you can't see how both "sides" have to deal with the harassment and can't even remotely comprehend that those players can and do play both roles just to make people miserable because they enjoy it, not just because of their role, that's on you. If you can't see the survivor only victim mentality that you're encouraging and calling for, so be it.
Both roles can make the same arguments because the toxic players aren't bound to either "side", we'll just have to agree to disagree on that point.

I agree on that actually, to a point. Really good survivors can take the killer for a ride, prevent them from doing anything meaningful, use perks and items to make their objectives harder to achieve.
The balance, though, is if a killer wants to keep your average solo queue survivors from having a normal game, they absolutely can. The ability to see what the survivors are bringing, what they look like, their profiles, gives them the chance to slot their meanest perks, their best add-ons, a mori or map offering. Then they go all out, full sweat, and the survivors leave the match with like 5k points a piece, and all depip. It's hard to describe in a way that people understand I think, like, how time passes differently for a survivor vs a killer, and how the end result can just be... you really didn't get to do much in the match. You spent all your time running in circles and hanging on a hook. Someone is always gonna be the first to die, but when that's all you are in a match, it's disappointing, especially after waiting in queues, watching killers lobby dodge, etc., etc.
I think that's where killers get the "entitled survivor" mentality. They were there the whole match doing whatever they do, while their playing and singling out one person can end what would've otherwise been a perfectly average game. But doing that and expecting that everyone accept the point of view that the killer sees as the "best" or "correct" one discounts a ton of other people in the match and how it is perceived on their side. They don't see that the survivor they targeted, even if it was by accident, didn't touch a gen, spent their time hanging on hook or giving other people altruism points, and the rest running desperately in the hopes that the game doesn't just end there.
Survivors don't have to be greatly skilled to bully a killer, and while I agree that solo play can get borked you're also assuming and insinuating every killer is an elite sweatlord whose GOT all the meanest perks, add-ons and such with the knowledge to be able to kill survivors that fast. We're not all tunneling tryhards, nor all that and a bag of chips.
The time dialation goes both ways as well, it's all based on the experience you're having. A lot of the frustration you're having may be because not only do you have the stress of playing solo, but because you're getting matched up with those sweatlords at too high a skill level to be able to solo effectivley. (Not that playing solo is ever an easy experience, this is a team based game after all and if the others won't work with you at all you're up the creek and hogtied.)
You're wanting that everyone accept the point of view that the survivor sees as the "best" or "correct", and discounting a ton of other people who play the game as well...
You said it yourself in the I'm a Toxic Killer thread. You can just as easily replace killer in your second paragraph with survivor. To quote;
"As if this game wasn't [BAD WORD] enough, you got people with genuine mental issues and a complete lack of self-awareness goading others into making it worse by being absolute [BAD WORD] to other players. Some of y'all need help. You clearly play this game for the wrong reasons and only therapy will reveal why. Legit, people come in here saying stuff that makes it sound like they kick puppies irl.
No lie, the victim mentality of some people, especially people who play killer, is bonkers. It's like talking to any lonely white, heterosexual Millennial male. Just an endless stream of nonsense about how everything should work, and all of those things are in their favor. Someone did some arbitrary [BAD WORD] in a video game and you assigned deeper meaning to it that made you revert to like, a lower developmental state, and lash out because clearly this is personal and was designed to hurt you. Then you cover for that hurt by hurting other people who have done nothing except maybe remind you of one of those past events. You see it every time someone comes into a match with a key or wearing a certain skin. And when someone points out that that's messed up, you double down and say you like hurting others, you enjoy it, and it's the only thing you're here for. That is not good. That is sickness. You have been on the internet for too long."
Once again, it's the people that do that, not every single killer, that ruin the experience.
Here's hoping working MMR can be instituted and solve some of our issues, and that they can remove chat and ban jerkwads to fix the rest.

Sorry, but this is not true. Killers can ruin the game, but survs only can tbag you. Do you think this is the same behaviour?
Survivors can and do totally ruin the game at times.
Survivors flame you and tell you to ######### just for using a certain character or perk, for being new to the game and more.
Survivors abuse matchmaking all the time to do this.
Yes, it is absolutley the same behavior, ans my guess is, those same survivors are also doing this as Killers.
With player agency and free comes the ability to do this on both ends.
Don't believe me?
Try playing Nurse or Spirit for a game or two.
Play in low ranks and see how many smurf squads come to ruin your day and experience.
It's the players themselves, not just what role they choose at the moment.
-
We don't all do that, in fact I'm very vocally against the poor sportsmanship and harrassment we see from players so often.
Please try not to generalize and lump everyone into a single category, Killer or Survivor, doesn't make a difference when it comes to this kind of behavior, it's the player behind that role and character that's choosing to say and do these hurtful things for their own selfish enjoyment.
-
I've never thought about trying it, nor had an oppurtunity, but if you survivors love it I guess I can give it a shot if it means you'll finally take a shine to us, yes sirs and ma'ams, no kink shaming here, it's 2021 after all.
-
Good luck brother, don't let the boys fool you, purple tastes the best, not orange. 😉
-
Killer main DFP here reporting from low ranked, full-time job hell; Survivors do occasionally give us the sac.
Funny enough, i see it more often from swf groups.
They seem to swing between two extremes with the sac; T-Bags for days or the rare pity sac, more commonly given by way of egc.
Happened to me last night in fact, was trying to just get Demo Dailies out of the way and got utterly stomped by a purple group and a red. The only guy who didn't was a purp with a red key, they even left me a map at the hatch and elected to point it out before joining our dear entity.
Honestly the nicest thing I've had a bunch of survivors do.
-
YEA
Wraith - I play him as a Bloodhound and just enjoy it. <3
Shape - Halloween fanboy here. Don't play him too much because he seems to garner a lot of salt, win or lose.
Third slot is a tie between Clown and Hillbilly with Billy slightly in the lead because he's easier to use, but to be honest, they're just the Killers whose aesthetics tickle my fancy. I have a piecemealed forest ranger costume i put together for Billy and Clown is..well, a Clown. XD
‐---------------‐
NAY
Freddy - He's way better than his first release, but survivors hate him, and I don't like being harassed for just playing a character. ._.
Spirit - Hey, didja see what I wrote for Freddy? You can but the latter portion here because being told to off myself is no fun.
Deathslinger - I'm sensing a pattern here, can ya'll find it?
Honorable mentions in the Nay category go to; "I can't Blink under pressure" Nurse, "Fun feel, goes over as well as sandpaper tp." Demogorgon, and "I can't believe I'm better as an m1." Plague.

Trapper was heavily manipulated by his father into mass murdering a bunch of innocent mine workers, he then killed his father for this. Though his actions weren't innocent, he was. He also heavily resisted the entity until he was massively tortured.
Nurse I can't remember why he was sent to the entity's realm as a chosen one, but when she blinks, her screeching is her sounds of pain, blinking is as painful as ripping ones self apart and back together again.
but yeah, they don't deserve this
Can't say for sure if Sally counts, but she could be innocent, though it heavily implies her job at the asylum kinda made her mad and when she snapped she went and "Did what she felt was necessary." with ideas of purification rattling around her skull it's not hard to see her being what they call an "Angel of Mercy". All we know for sure is that someone took fifty-four lives there and Sally was the only one left.
If we're exonerating her and Trapper, who did his foul deeds because he idolised his father and was manipulating him, we have to do the same for Hillbilly, (Tortured and abused to madness.) Hag, (Same, but with cannibalism!) Bubba, (Both of the aformentioned.) 3/4ths of Legion, (Manipulated and groomed into killers.) After that we have to let Pig and Deathslinger off their hooks for also being groomed and manipulated, Huntress, ("Abandoned" ((Mom sacrificed herself to save her)) while a child and doesn't know anything more than survival.), by proxy Demogorgon, who's just a predator and trying to feed and live, and by that logic, The Twins, and Blight of all people could also be pardoned... :/
Yeeeah, Imma go with Spirit as the only one who hasn't earned their torment, she was the only one without blood on her hands.
Now that I look at the new (and to be honest, old lore had him murder vigo too) Wraith lore, while justified, he did that. XD

@SocialDistomancy Haha, that's a good one. :)

hi,
everything you said its true, but the main issue is not that (survivors are ######### ppl), its the devs mistake that made the killers look like a one of two things
first example :( and i ASSUME 75% of killers do it) killer looks like a ######### person, for tunneling and camping hooks, and they do it in order to avoid being in the second example.
second example:( it takes huge size of balls to do) killer plays fair never tunnels never camps, ends up looking like a joke, a harmless domestic pet.
at the end of the day , whatever you choose to be as a killer, you will always get hated on or laughed at.
conclusion : we cant hate the players ( killers or survivors), we can only hate the game.
Nah, I think I'll thank dev's for creating the game and allowing player agency while condemning those who use their agency in game and irl to harrass and bully others.
Conclusion:
We can hate the players.
We can choose not to settle for the "It's going to happen no matter what we do so nothing matters." Excuse because changing is hard and blame is easy.
We can take and accept personal responsibility for our actions.
We can't change the game. We can change and govern our own actions.

I should start using my steam account again so I can change the alias to such classics as: KillerOPPlzNerf and KYSPlzGGEZSAUCE or xGGMoriThisKeyGGx. One I actually used was Tunnel Vision just to see if I'd get tunneled.
Can't really blame anyone else at that point, it's what it says on the tin. :]
If you're really looking at getting that chase I'd definitely go with a key based name, Tunnel Vision was probably far too subtle and would work better on a killer. :)
-
Don't think most of us want more bp.
We'd play more if people were kinder.
Or ya know, they could disable chat and replace online Id's with character names. That'd do the work and be more welcome than the bile we see at this point.
-
Playing as Nurse, Plague, Spirit or DeathSlinger.
Gotta grit my teeth and force myself to go through with it, as it's the only way to learn how to use them and the aftergame chats going to be saltier than McDonalds fry. Only play them when I have dailies/for the rift challenges.
Playing against would be Doc and Hag, I do not like the jumpscares. ^_^'
-
I like the indoor maps and autohaven ones.
Dislike the preschools and the swamps.
Mostly the swamps though. They look awful, and there's still spots killers can't walk through. T_T

Just stare back into his malicious gaze from a distance until there's nothing left for him to succ and he realises that it's longing, not hunger within him and all he wants is to join in on the fun. Nothing could possibly go wrong. :p

these video's helped me immensly
Thank you for sharing these.
@BigDickMyers As stated above, don't focus on winning right now, and watch the streamers mentioned above to learn how to mindgame and predict survivors movements and you will play better, it's some good advice. :)
I'd also recommend playing a few games on the team (survivor) to get a feel for how they see your red stain at various tiles, where your blind spots are, and what puts the most pressure on a person in a loop. (Not all loop centric advice, I know, sorry. ^_^')
Other than that, ya also have to get a feel for when to just leave a player for later. You won't always be able to beat a good looper, but you can move on and take out the weaker links first. ^_^
Good luck BigDickMyers, and Happy Hunting.

If enough folk report that player and it is proven to be malicious it would be punishable under Greifing: Intentional gameplay abuse.
-
Killers are on strike.
We want better sportsmanship, to be recognized as people too rather than punching bags.
(I wish.)
-
Full card. Thank ya buddy. XD
-
Sorry bro. I feel for ya.
-
BINGO!
-
Oh yeah, but we should put him in as a Survivor.
Same abilities though.
-
C'mon guys, need less repeats, I'm sitting so close to the everyone loses bingo I can almost taste it...
-
Yes?
But no.
Also mostly yes.
And kinda no.
-
Preach it. Maybe incentivize them with points for leading us away from the hook...might even, lord forbid, have the byproduct of encouraging them to stop unhooking right in our faces and complaining about it later too.
-
Hahahaha, man alive, wouldn't it be nice if we got more killers and more sportsmanship around here? Anyways, pass that pipe, I need it for the Killer headache.
-
Huh. Musta been brand new. Even us noobs know better than to chase like that then whinge about it. Curse the entity for it, sure, but it's not the survivors fault, and anyone with more than a handful of games knows when you're being outplayed to switch gears and targets. 🤔
Someone use a map offering maybe?
*shrug*

"but I am just being friendly!"
"Well stop camping/tunelling/etc"
"I am waiting for ___ person"
"Something about EGC""It's a free hit so why are you complaining?"
"is it THAT hard to just make them leave it takes seconds"
"I am just celebrating"You get the point. This discussion has been done so many times it never amounts to anything productive I am sorry to say. Someone is going to say something akin to one of those lines, and it's going to change into a discussion about an entirely different topic lol.
EDIT: hey we can play bingo like this....

Ain't piss, it's Mello Yello from the early 80's.....
Hey now, Mello Yello is still around and tasting great when mixed with Dr. Pepper.
Your insides may look like Blights face after, but that's no excuse for mixing up the drinks.
Obviously that's Surge from the 90's, easy mistake to make, but with the tattoo'd "extreme" pony in a bottle and the rainbow coloring combined with that dark and gritty atmosphere, I'd expect us all to recognize it right off the bat.
-
You're playing Killer.
No matter how you play, you will be a jerk to the survivors, because you are the opposition.
Playing by the Survivors Handbook and as a survivor garners you no sympathy points I'm afraid.
Answering your final question is difficult, because first we have to define facecamping and proxy camping, suffice it to say, everyone has their own definition and quite are dissimilar. The short answer is No, because of the variation from your exact circumstances, the long answer is Maybe, as there are some trolls who do it maliciously, but it's hard to tell them from the other folk using the hook as bait.
-
Might be your mobile browser, my bar seems to work fine on Chrome but has issues on the Samsung default browser.

I'd like to learn Nurse better, but I feel bad just blinking around the map, testing and getting a feel for where I'm gonna blink. ^_^'
I'd also like to play more Myers, and learn Deathslinger and Spirit but hooooly cr*p do you harrassed for it. :(

The matchmaking and toxicity are the biggest turn offs for me as a killer main, followed by the grind.
For matchmaking, I wish there was a better balance. The theory behind it is sound, playing against people our own rank and just above would be great, but oftentimes it's so badly skewed that a new or lower ranked killer has difficulty learning enough to survive and play effectively at their own level of experience without seeking outside sources of aid. You practically need to study for the role because the intuitive learning model the game tries to use just doesn't function correctly.
Toxicity...let's be honest, there's no concrete way to fix it. Even instituting a good sportsmanship reward system would be abused. It just wears on a person to be harangued for playing a role that win or lose, following the Survivors Rulebook or not, you get coated in verbal and written effluvium to the point where you could double as a Netflix comedy special.
Now about the grind, it's not too bad once you get told you can use past Rift challenges to earn BP, but not only are you never explicitly told you can do this, but you have to tediously plan what characters to grind out first for "meta/necessary" perks with a single chance to make it happen easily or you risk being at the mercy of an expensive and time intensive rng system.
When coupled with the matchmaking and toxicity, the grind becomes very aptly named as you're essentially fumbling in the dark trying to navigate a hedge maze made of thorn bushes while a mass of voices with differing intents whisper and hiss at you from every direction how you should be going about this as a disembodied arm shows up every few feet to shove you around.
I really do enjoy the game, but man alive is it difficult to push through to where I'm told the experience becomes easier to enjoy. ^_^'
-
That's definitely a thought. Would be hard to retrofit it and balance with the rng nature of the level tiles.
-
The survivors that get lumped in with a teammate(s) exhibiting bad behavior. At this point it's almost reactionary to assume that the whole bunch is bad if two apples are rotten, and I feel the need to apologize to those who just got paired with some real jerks. :(
-
It wouldn't be a terrible experience if
A) The SWF was the same rank as the Killer
or
B) The SWF group comports themself in a sportsman like manner during and after the game.
Getting crushed by a SWF group is a sort of gray experience, you kind of know what you're getting into from the pre-game lobby, and just want to get through it. If they're on your level or just above it's not a bad experience and ya can learn a bit during play.
The real hurt comes from being matched with people so far out of your league you truly are playing different games.
Top either of these experiences off with the harassment you face as the villain of the game, and it becomes a sisyphean task.
I hope you can understand why we complain and vent about SWF groups with that perspective. I'm sorry your Solo experiences have been bad, please just know that for us Killers every game is a Solo experience.
-
Don't think it is, I'd check the source.
-
It's smart to use that combo to throw us for a loop and escape. So long as you aren't hanging around T-bagging and being cocky it's cool.
