Let us pray....
We humble consolers pray for our frames, the frames of our friends and family, the frames of our neighbors, and most especially the frames of our brother and sister Switchers.
We humble consolers ferverantly wish the mighty devs hear our prayers, and love our platforms as they love their child, DBD.
-
The most infuriating part of all this to me is the lack of timely and clear communication about current gen console optimization, far more than monies and cosmetics or whatever.
I think what would be most appreciated is a direct update, covering:
Still happening y/n
Saying that this and this delayed
Semi-zeroed in timeframes
Basically, hope
If the focus is now the next gens, we kinda need to know that too. Without cross-prog we are very much stuck, in addition to feeling forgotten and possibly abandoned.

Every game I have played today on ending I have asked a simple question how many are SWF. Of those that respond 100% have said they are in SWF be it 2 man, 3 man. I think the community would be surprised on the actual scale of how many play SWF if stats were released.
I thought the last stats they put out (like over a year ago) stated over half of all survs are in at least a two-man SWF

Yeah, I mean, there are two factors in frame rate - how demanding the game is and how strong your hardware is. You can really blame it on either or both and you wouldn't be wrong; it's just a matter of perspective. In this case, though, I don't like Otz's take.
If even a consistent 30 FPS on console weren't feasible, BHVR should not have brought the game to console in the first place. If they said "Sorry community, the current generation of consoles are just too weak to run DBD. We're excited to bring it to next gen consoles!" then I'd respect that. The second they launched on console though, they're either saying 1) This is going to be a steaming pile of ######### but people will still buy it so we don't care or 2) Performance may be poor now, but a consistent 30 FPS is feasible and we will get there soon. If 1) it's BHVR's fault; they're greedy and deserve hate. If 2) it's also BHVR's fault; stable performance should be feasible, but they've had years to work on it and performance is worse than ever. Maybe they were wrong in their initial assessment and it was just a mistake from too much optimism, but that would still be their fault.
I have yet to play a game on Unreal 4 that doesn't run like crap (hello Borderlands 3!), so it's possible that the engine is just very demanding and it's hard to bring frame rate to an acceptable level. Still, I don't buy that. If the performance issues are that serious, why did BHVR switch engines to Unreal 4 in the first place? Is increased visual fidelity really worth an unplayable frame rate and (probably) a huge amount of dev time to switch engines?
At the end of the day, my personal take is that it should be entirely possible for a game that looks like this to run well on console. Something as simple as a status effect shouldn't cause the whole game to freeze for a half second, even on PCs that can maintain 60 FPS. Like, I used Lithe and am now exhausted. You now need to add an icon to my HUD, start a timer, and disable one of my perks until the timer runs out. That's it. How tf is that enough to freeze the game for a half second? A calculator should be able to do that without much trouble :(
This. All this juciness.

Truthfully Piggy needs an overhaul of her add-ons pretty badly. For everyday play two of the Straps, Med. File, and Tape.

This is what I noticed before I had to stop playing killer the amount of fog offerings I thought it was just my luck lol
That's not cool at all!
Been getting extreme frate rate drops when I'm hit and the killer is running sloppy butcher do not know if anyone else has had this problem.
🐷
When survivin I get frame drops whenever Sloppy is applied, Exposed triggers, Myers teirs up, Thana kicks in, and many other things. Vaults truely are a risky proposition these days as well...

Played a game as Clown for a daily on Lerys. People aren't kidding when they say slideshow quality. I didn't DC, but I just went and had a snack and drink and came back to some people who died to the end game collapse. Meh.
Toss in fog offerings and it is just about unplayable. I haven't seen so many used until lately, like survs know...

I'm ok typing out a sentence or two on my Xbox, but they may be in another match by the time I'm done with more than that.

Probably the same as "60 fps for everyone".
Since the last two patches came out my Xbox1 cannot maintain 30fsp. Indoor maps and fog offering erode it more, status effects even more, and small things like bloodlust or pallet braking can actually cause visual stutterin.

I played it back in winter of 2018-19. The frame rate was really bad then (although I am used to 60), and from the sound of things it hasn't gotten any better.
Thank you for relaying your experience though!

To any PCrs who happen to read this thread, please please please ask a friend who has DBD on PlayStation 4 or whatever and give it a go. Especially killer. Especially on an indoor map.
Get a taste of the current console experience, maybe state here what it is. Thank you in advance.
-
Killing is all but impossible on console right now, but I feel the frame drops as survivor as well. Rough playing either side atm.
In what insane existence is our play experience supposed to be equal to a PCer? Not even close.

Abandon this idea that you have to be nice to survivors because of some hidden rule.
If you camp. It is their job to do gens. Not yours to give up a free hook.
Sick of being treated like some play thing every game.
Survivors just get every thing to waste time. DS unbreakable dead hard bt. every game. how is that good design? How can the devs just ignore how stupid it is?
And what perks doyou run while survivin? And at what ranks? You dabble on both sides right? To better understand your quarry and see all pov's? It'll make ya a better killer and survivor.

Tru3 has already played nurse on PS4 once: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_59J3rjzUQ
Wouldn't be crazy for him to do so again.
TydeTyme played a round or two as killer (Hag maybe?) back before he abandoned DBD on console. I seem to remember him summarize it up as "both gross and disgusting!" compared to on a PC.

Oh boy you can't even imagine how much I want to kill myself as a switch player.
I think all us Consolers have an idea, at least to some degree.
-
Any sage advice for us Xbox peasants??
-
Proof? Report? Repeat?
-
Depends on your rig and/or platform I'd say. I can speak for my Xbox1 console with about 1100hrs and play both sides.
Since the last two patches fps has worsened for me, with it most noticable on the indoor maps (Lery's is a huge problem, especially with certain killers). Hitting bloodlust1, applying Sloppy Butcher, or breaking pallets all can drop frames under 30 and even as low as 10ish.
As a surv being hit with any status effect like Exposed drops frames hard. Dying on struggle happens often, even opening a chest or another being hit nearby can freeze the game up and make it think you stopped struggling.
Others can give more examples, explore the forum. It effects is all, but consoles seem to be hit hardest. Optimization for the consoles was all but promised about a year and a half back, even with a rough timeline, but not a lot except small fixes here and there, and precious little communication since then.
With the next gens looming many of us feel forgotten and about to be left behind.
Edit: I should mention the goal was a steady 60 frames, but it hardly can maintain 30 these days.

I'm a PC player, and reading your guys comments just breaks my heart. It is absolutely unacceptable. But what really troubles me is the updated graphics on PTB, and oh boy do we have a bad time. The game just absolutely shreds our framerate in certain moments, so I can't even begin to imagine what console/switch players are about to experience. But on the other hand, maybe that's a good thing? Maybe when the game becomes literally unplayable they will realize, that they need to to something about it. It really infuriates me when devs think that the optimization is somehow " Low Priority ".
Anyways, I gave a lot of feedback from PTB and tested a bunch of things, and it turns out, that the Effects Quality is what causes our framerates to get so unstable (both on LIVE and PTB) . They're barely noticeable, yet very poorly implemented. So I hope they'll take my feedback into account
Appreciate the kind words and info. Could use some PCrs in the cause.
I remember Puppers when asked why he doesn't fire up the PS4 much anymore for DBD with some of his followers, he said roughly "why would I play at 30 frames or less when I can play at 100?" He knows. I think everyone knows.

I think that they will stop supporting older gen consoles. The update may come only in the newer ones. And considering that the switch is still going strong...I don't know man I really don't know whate the ######### are we supposed to do
I recommend The Long Dark. Excellent game. Cause i also think our time playing DBD is almost gone...

From what I read it goes something like Switch, Mobile, and then Xbox. Way ahead in numbers is PS4, and then PC is the largest chunk. I don't believe the three others besides PC together add up to PS4, but I'm not entirely sure.
I also do not think the devs have put out these numbers directly to anyone, but I'd like to know, especially after Crossplay came out...

While true, not everyone can afford one in a couple of months. I play on PC, but everyone else I can now play with are on PS4 or Xbox. Two of them are having to move to a new house within the next few months due to the owner of where they live selling it (and that is not a small expense), and the other works but has kids, a mortgage, et cetera and can't just drop hundreds for a new-gen console at release. Especially with kids and family to all buy for for Xmas in a few months.
They need to optimize the current consoles, not just rely on everyone affording the new generation at their launch.
This. For the love of the Entity's bunions this!!

Quick question to ask, how is everyone coping with PC players on much better frames?
I'm on PS4, even on my frames they spin so smoothly, it's been pretty hard to hit them. Ive barely missed any swings despite that tho.
Versed some really good nurses.
Having to insta DC on Lerys and having to restart app every 2 games (i play slinger, very frame reliant).
I found it impossible to kill with Crossplay on. The frame drops when I hit bloodlust or applied sloppy and the like were bad. Everything became worse on indoor maps, especially Lery's.
Was less of a problem with surv but I still felt it, with exposed and hook struggle death the most harmful.
-
Please please please for the love of the Entity's bunions please help us current gen consolers out. Please...

If you slug me to find the last survivor I’m going to insta DC. Every...single...time. I only play solo queue. I have no desire to waste 4 minutes of my life. Even if it means not being able to play for 12 hours, I don’t care.
imagine if survivors could form an unbreakable bubble for 4 minutes and sit on the last gen at 99% as you stare on. Yuck
I believe my record for resluged is at 5, meaning I was slugged and gotten up again 4 times in one match while the Spirit looked for the other surv. And I didn't dc. The only message I got was "no one gets hatch."
In fact I think I've only dc'd on purpose like twice in something like 1100hrs. Any other dc was due to the game believing I had no internet connection (despite the party and my stream being fine) and similar game tossing me out scenarios. I've collected maybe 4 baby matchmaking penalties ever.
My choice is to stay and fight it out. Others feel differently.

Dude we are playing the same game, we use the same character and watch the same youtubers, theres not such difference, its disgusting how much hate pc or console are getting.
I have a hard time calling it the same game when fps is taken into account, especially for a console killer. PCrs can often maintain above about 80 & tend to complain about less than a steady 60, while console would give their first born and their left shoe for a solid 30fps. On the indoor maps or when any status effect triggers it can drop below 10, and everything jams harder than that now on Lery's. The last two patches have made it even worse.
It is for this disparity that I turned off Crossplay, and I doubt I'm the only one. It isn't about skill, mouses, experience, bugs, or even the .03% that actually are hackers. For me it is pure performance imbalance and a shot at a level playing field.
-
When this happens in Xbox we both have to restart our games to correct it, sometimes the router as well.
-
The frames are unacceptable when killin, especially on the indoor maps. Getting Lery's almost feels like an auto-loss with the fps in there. Turned it off until it's console to console only , or we get that long overdue optimization. Not sure either will ever happen though...
-
@Ivaldi said:
If a survivor is on the hook.. and the killer downs someone near said hook.. why do some people decide to farm the person off the hook, giving the killer an easy rehook and possibly a free hit/down?
Wouldn't it be smarter to just wait until the killer leaves? or if you need to, bait the unhook and waste the killers time, which gives the carried survivor a chance to wiggle out?
What you suggest is logical and good teamwork, prolly the two main reasons why it is not done regularly.

I know but most PC players will opt out if FPS was any lower than that i think BHVR will sort out the console FPS issues i'm pretty sure they are aware of it.
They have been aware of them for almost 2 yrs. With the next gen consoles out in a few months those who have waited for optimization and/or like me who will be stuck on my Xbox1 for a long time after they are out kinda feel forgotten and left behind.

While you have some people who are PC master race forever most PC players love the idea of cross platform i know i do cause i have plenty of console friends but here is the issue with console FPS and controls puts them at a really big disadvantage i think BHVR will get this sorted out eventually. I also think they should lock the FPS to 60 for PC players for those who opt in for crossplay.
Consolers: Lock it at 60fps? There's a number above 30????? We cannot consistently get even that...
