if you have both a ps4 and a pc dbd I think it's a no brainer where you should play.
If you only have a ps4... well, there's free Fail Guys with the Plus this month!
And those of us on Xbox??? ;)
-
Won't work if released from Pyramid cage either.
-
Consoles cannot see that Chat Box, and I thought when asked the devs did not have plans to implement it.

Although I appreciate where you’re coming from, it’s extremely likely that the majority of current gen PS and Xbox owners will upgrade on launch, to within 3 to 6 months on launch.
And as far as I know, the current DBD with any graphical enhancements released between now and then will transfer to the new consoles. No need to buy a dedicated next gen version of DBD.
So I don’t believe BHVR will miss out on much for the small percentage of DBD consoles players that don’t upgrade their console swiftly.
I don’t think the devs are amateurs. Metaphorically speaking, it’s like they overtook a run down hotel only to find the initial things they thought were able to be fixed/renovated were much more overwhelming than they first anticipated. The only solution would be to rebuild DBD from the ground up. Perhaps they’re doing this with the graphics update? (Fingers crossed).
The big hurdle in the meantime is the risk of losing a significant portion of the console player base before these updates/switches to next gen. If that occurs they’re going to need a HELL of a marketing campaign at the launch of next gen to bring players back, and acquire new ones.
And for those such as myself who for a variety of reasons will be stuck on the current console long after the next gen is out, it feels very much like "Well yeah we said this and this and even promised this, but.... ummmm... the 5 and series X will be out soon........... so... byeeeeeee..."

It's not even close to optimized on PC. I run a 2080ti and I get framedrops. The only reason I don't dip below 60 is because the card literally bruteforces it.
Consolerswould give a kidney for 60. Try 30 to less than 10 frames depending...

@Deadman316 said:
You know you can disable cross play by going in settings right? Some people just want to complain about anything, sheesh
It's not that simple. The better queue times and playing with friends on other platforms is very attractive. But consolers, especially killers, have had to fight through huge fps issues for years now, plus the bugs we all share.
How can someone on Xbox for example, with frames ranging from 30 to below 10 depending on what's happening & where, even expect anything like a fair playing field against most PCers getting at least 30 semi-regularly? I know not all PC's run dbd well, but it still is a large gap with consolers, and our Switch bretheren have it even rougher.
I do not believe hackers are everywhere, that a mouse is vastly superior, nor that players with about the same experience are so different from each other. But frames, oh yes i feel that one each game, and the last two patches have made it even worse.
Don't believe me? Borrow a bud's PS or whatever and dive in.

I'm playing on PC and ever sinse the past 2 or 3 updates, the FPS has dropped drastically. I used to get 60-50 frames but now i get 20-30. I know it's something with the game itself because all the other games run just fine.
I've done everything I can think of to try to fix it; restart the computer, verify game files, disc cleanup, leave the computer off for a few hours, but nothing has worked. Does anyone have solution to this? This has literally made the game completely unplayable and I really want to do the challenges...
Same problems have been hurting performance on console as well, ever since the last two patches came out. Worsens on indoor maps.

@EuphoricBliss35 said:
Console 100% has frame issues. If somebody says otherwise, they either don’t play on console, or don’t know what frame drops are/look like.
Xbox One S is horrendous graphic and frame wise.
Switch has god awful graphics and does not feel smooth. Hitting 30 FPS would be divine intervention
PS4 runs a little smoother, better graphics, frame dips are common place.
Can I get a show of hands how many people have been struggling on hook, and then instadied once noed or similar game change procs??
Bloodlust, Exposed, Sloppy, Exhaustion, Myers tiering up, rat farting two towns over, all cause lag spikes, and absolutely can kill you on a hook. Pretty much any status effect triggering. Indoor maps make it even worse.

After dozens of games since crossplay is active, i have not faced a console killer yet. Nobody on PS4, Xbox or Switch wants to play killer somehow or am i just very unlucky?
Just play on a console as a killer and find out for yourself the differences. One of your buds must have a PS or Xbox or whatever. Try it. Please.

My point is Xbox and PS4 are different beasts. My understanding has always been Xbox has the smallest player base. So it stands to reason crossplay would effect them more than PS4.
Xbox does indeed have the smallest dbd player base, and by far the weakest platform performance as well, even the Xbox 1. I wonder if there is a connection there...

"Until DBD runs at a stable 60 fps for Xbox"
My dude - if you wanted stable framerates, let alone a stable 60fps, you shouldn't have went to way of consoles.
So basically you're saying if you don't have a PC don't even play this game?

Double FPS lol
DBD on Console runs at 25 FPS.
I run at 120 on PC, that's almost 10 times the FPS.
This right here!
-
Xbox player, about 1200hrs, both sides but lots of survivin. I do not believe the narrative about rampant hackers and such, nor do I have any huge hang-ups about a mouse or not. My huge issue with Crossplay is the terrible optimization and frames console gets. The last two patches have made it far far worse, so much so that my Piggy is in semi-retirement.
Whenever any status effect triggers frames drop to below 10fps, even Myers tiering up. Swing when you pop bloodlust, you weapon and/or your face hits a wall. Fast vault with Lithe and your down and magically transported to the killers side. Exposed pops and you run into a tree. Hit with Sloppy and you momentarily freeze in your tracks. You say PCers can struggle with 60frames, while consolers deal with 30 or less all the entity-lovin time.
That's the real issue. Until something like a real optimization happens i want no part of full crossplay, and these threads will only grow.
-
This baitly-wonderful thread has made my day!

Stick together brother and sister consolers!

I like this thread, and am pleased to comment on it!
But seriously the frames and latency have gotten sooooo bad on console with both of the last two patches.

Don't hook a single one. Just smack them down until all 4 are on the ground. Then let them bleed out
So satisfying 🤣
And when you're a surv and this happens to your team, how do you like it? You do play some survivor right?

For every extra member of SWF group restrict them to only their characters default perks. 2 players 2 default perks - 3 players 3 default perks - etc
This does not help the lot of solo survs, who are having a rough time as well, and only punishes. Better to buff up the solos and then killers around that, reducing whatever advantages a group on comms has, real or imagined.

She! But yes, I like the advice. Do you happen to know what the PS4 equivalent to right mouse button would be? I have my controls set on default, so would it just be the usual power activation button?
Naw I'm on Xbox. Others will know

@dugman said:
As far as using the charges, just watch the chainsaw swings and hit the right mouse button as he's doing the third swing (or just count to yourself 1-2-3 as he swings and tap on three). You can get a little more precise if you watch the energy bar in the lower corner of the screen but honestly watching the chainsaw itself is easier and just about good and also keeps you looking at the person you're chasing.
Hehehe the OP stated he's on PS4 so no mouse is possible. Rest is solid advice my bubba!

I wouldn't know as I haven't played much on consoles the last few years. I know that depending on privacy settings one can see someone's achievements, wouldn't know about friends lists.
Got it, thank you. Seems us consolers are often fogotten in many posts and responses where it turns out to be a PC-only thing. Most on Xbox seem to have locked up all of the info you talked about, from the scrounging around I've done.
-
@oxygen said:
The cold hard truth of it is that no matter what the balance is like, it's a perfectly legal part of the game and people are no more entitled to avoid it than a survivor is to avoid a killer they dislike. Is everything perfectly fine and dandy and there should be no changes made? That's not what I'm saying, and I'm not claiming I know any perfect solutions (they don't exist so I'd be lying if I said I did) but the "I don't want to play against them, so I shouldn't have to" stance is quite simply irrelevant.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1529036#Comment_1529036
On Steam you can click on survivor names -> view profile, and assuming they don't have their entire profile or relevant bits (friends list, it's an option) set to private or friends only you can check if they're friends on steam. If other parts are public you can also see their playtime.
Ok and on Xbox?
-
What is this "checking profiles" I keep seeing? Is that a PC thing? Not sure it is doable on Xbox, especially with private ones...
-
Happens all the time on console, worse after the last update and even worse on the indoor maps. Any status effect that pops lags the game hard, like whenever bloodlust, exhaustion, exposed, thanathaphobia, oblivious, fell asleep, Myers, whatever kicks in.
Those hook struggle stage deaths have been around for about a year now.
-
For a challenge or daily ritual only. Don't like em, don't use em.
And I refuse to allow the previous trial results to make me take it out on the next survs who did nothing but push Y. I am responsible for my own behavior, not theirs.
-
Happened today: on Lery's, hit bl1 as I swing my Piggy blade at a window-vaulting Feng, their Lithe also kicks in, my blade animation actually freezes mid swipe! Even the chase music skipped, and all I hit is window. Wish I was streaming it, something to see.
The Xbox 1x simply cannot handle this game when multiple status effects all proct at the same time. Indoor maps make it even worse. Back to the Long Dark for now...

I am calling for an end to Survivor Friends. I think groups should not longer be allowed in open matches and ALL data be stripped until the END of the match so you don't know who you are matched with and can't get on the party line. If people want to play in groups, that is what Custom Games are for. You and your Killer will know exactly what is up and can be comfortable with it.
Otherwise, it is cheating. Let's not pretend it isn't. Being able to communicate all information across the entire map instantly is better than any Perk currently in the game. The game was not designed with that in mind. So eliminate the ability for groups to go into Rank games together and strip out all contact and name info until the end. Problem solved.
I have a question about your proposal: exactly how would you carry out the no-comms part? I don't know about other platforms, but on Xbox the party chat is entirely separate from any game being played. Heck the group could even be playing different games, I've done that. And a few years back I believe Microsoft mandated any game they accept cannot interfere with the party chats in any way. So the devs couldn't block comms even if they wished.
-
My Piggy sounds more like a mouse being stepped on when stunned than climaxing to me. Actually a bit similar to the sound a Claudette makes when they're downed...

Hey, I'm all for leaving it as it stands. BUT I think Killers will have to be buffed up and Mori too... to adjust.
I certainly agree things cannot stay as they are with SWF. The community here is very scattered when it comes to how to deal with this though. To me penalizing or banning are not the way to go. Changes to improve info for solo players to try and get them nearer to SWF level, then rebalancing killer around that, makes the most sense to me imo.
Mori's (and Keys) are an another hotly-contested subject as well. I try to keep them both out of SWF debates, though some killers do feel a Mori is the remedy for a suspected SWF or key ( I do not).

I believe the devs have stated that both they always intended a SWF mode and that use of comms to them is not cheating. And it's their game.
With most of the surv player base already in at least a two-man, cutting them out of the pool would send queue times soaring. Others might point out custom mode gives no bp, so they couldn't even level thier killers or survs.
-
Before SWF was added those wanting to team up would ready up together hoping to enter the same lobby, and leave instantly if they did not & repeat. The queue times soared, and just imagine those times now with the current number of survs.
On the other hand just about no killers, including me, would willingly enter a match against a SWF. I do not believe any sort of BP bonus would in the end make any difference. So they would dodge, hurting queue times as well.
I've noticed most of not all of any changes the devs make are shaped purposely not to hinder queue times in any way. Our suggestions I feel should also keep that in mind, if we really want them considered.

I have the ol girl an extended tryout long ago, before ded servers, and i am convinced I am no good with her. The good nurses on PC tend to do a flick thingy with the mouse and camera, something that may not be possible with a controller, even with the console sensitivity upgrade a few patches ago.
All the advice listed in this thread is great. Practice seems the best advice, buckets and buckets of practic. When I'm surviving and we get a nurse we are like "Console Nurse boys we're all getting out!" And we do, unless we screw around with her.
-
With the next gen consoles nearing, where would you put more of your resources? Into the outgoing machines? This is the only thing that makes sense to me.
About a year and a half or so ago ever since a proper opiminazion was first brought up, it has been little fixed here and there instead. And the latest string of patches, most especially the latest one, have hurt performance so much.
I don't want to believe the thinking is "yeah about that.... well... but the 5 and X are out soon... so.............byeeee."
Guess I need persuasion to the contrary, and that the timing of everything hasn't moved this issue from side burner to back burner to into the freezer forgotten.

At the risk of taking bait, I'm pretty confident that most games include some kind of swf group. I think pure 4 man solo games are far rarer than facing at least a duo.
I believe the last stats given out (feels ages ago at this point) indicated a bit over half of all matches had at least a two-man SWF in it.

Was streaming in a four man against a Legion about a year ago, pretty sure they got all of us. Sent a GG message, then one of us has to go so I asked them if they wished to join. Been surviving off and on with them ever since. Still call them Legion.
