I haven't seen a nurse in red ranks in at least two months or so. Might be because I'm on Xbox though.
-
Tried Nurse on Xbox begore the cooldowns and it was a no go after several multi-hour sessions over a month and a half. Stacks of tires stopping me cold, frame drops with every blink, cannot turn & swing fast enough, bouncing back in between levels in maps, frame drops whenever I swung, hit bloodlust, or almost anything else. Got maybe a dozen kills at best, and two were pitty sacrifices. My git gud was a bust, and now she's harder to learn?!?!
No wonder I see only one or two nurses a month in the red ranks. We yell out "console nurse" and all escape unless we fooook around too much. Y'all got Deathstar-sized balls rolling her out on Xbox.
-
Xbox1: ratest I see at red ranks are Demo, Plag, and Clown. I also heard tell of new killer called the Nurse may be added soon, so we shall see...

Optimization? That's the next gen console version most likely.
Because its been years of promises but no progress on that part
This. The huge Graphics update & crossplay are due out by the end of the year. The next gen consoles are due out by the end of the year. Where would you put your resources into?
PS4 and Xbox1 yeah well shame about those frames and ping & latency but see yaaaaaaaaaaaa.
-
Imma guess this equates to pressing "a" for Xbox, with the default arrangements at least. I'm not sure about PS4 or the other platforms, please chime in with those.
If there is ever a consensus reached we should be on the same page here, with Crossplay looming.

The only difference between pc and console is the better framerate and some killers like nurse, huntress or deathslinger are easier to play on pc but other than that there won't be any major differences.
Don't forget that DbD isn't a shooter game like CoD or Battlefield that requires precise aiming.
https://youtu.be/xXzgUzzG6EU TydeTyme clip of his experience coming over from PC.
The learning curve for both roles mixing with PC players will be high imo. If issues with latency & ping & frames (plus no kb&m support) are not fully addressed beforehand, the curve may be insurmountable.

The new consoles are coming out, bet it performs better on those
And those of us who will be stuck with the existing consoles long after the next gen ones are out? We were told 60 frames minimum over a year ago, an optimization that never happened, and much else. Now that the next gen consoles are nearing it's like "too bad see yaaaaa".
-
Nearly all of Piggy's add-ons are worthless. Hope she gets them overhauled soon she needs it badly.
-
With the next gen consoles due out this year, and both the graphics overhaul & crossplay around the same time, I'd imagine those consoles would get those updates, not the existing ones.
-
Wouldn't not slugging #3 to maybe get #4 avoid all of this. I don't do this unless I see #4 when I down #3. To me it would be like yelling "I'm getting that 4k no matter what" and I've been on the survivor side of this scenario too often to slug em here, knowing how much it sucks.

I play PS4 and you can tell the game was meant for PC.
Console has horrible optimization and the changes made to the game seem to rarely take into consideration console/controller players.
That does not fill me with confidence. As I will likely be stuck on my Xbox1 long after the next gen is out, I feel a dread of being left in the dust....

I'd assume not unless they have a large video/media platform to create content.
I don't think console is a feature that holds them back but if you have the means to create video content you most likely have the means to play the superior version of DBD on PC.
Superior version of DBD?

Ok thats two of you that have said something about lag switching. Im not saying that never happens, what I am saying is that just because a killer looks to teleport and hit you, or a survivor teleports after you down tgem doesnt mean they are lag switchers. Those two clips are the same teleporting killer from 2 different POV, and im most certainly not a lag switcher. You can blame it on whatever, lag, poor console optimization, janky servers, whatever. But assuming lag switching is just short sited
Hmmmm i didn't bring up lagswitching in this thread?
-
Just curious, but are there any console Whisperers?
-
Not funny, especially since I will likely be stuck in my Xbox1 long after the next gen is out.
-
Not a bug I would think, much more likely due to latency, but possibly cheating.
Report with proof I'd say.
-
With the next gen consoles within smelling distance, I imagine any major efforts to optimize either PS4 or Xbox1 were shelved. We will just continue to get the baby adjustments in patches until they are both obsoleted.
IMO it makes sense timeframe wise. The announced huge graphics overhaul and upcoming crossplay option both look to roughly line up around the next gen releases. Bright shinny new machines to show off these advancements.
We shall see...

360 on consoles are really annoying to hit, and it's mostly because I lose sight of them while they're doing it, so if anyone has any tips for it, I would appreciate it a lot.
I stop and back up when they start the spin, with decent results. There are perks to increase your FOV of ya want to try that as well.

They actually had a detailed plan to achieve 60FPS on consoles in the March 2019 roadmap and dev update but they don’t talk about it anymore and ignore every attempt to bring it up and ask about it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/49456/status-update-optimization
Maybe the graphics update will be part of this but I take the silence as they have not been able to achieve the impossible sounding plan and are hoping people forget about it.
What really stings is hearing them discuss possible platform specific optimisation during the 4th anniversary as if it was something new they would have to start working on rather than something they outlined a plan for over a year ago and have not delivered or addressed what happened or if they are still working on it.
I wish more people or even just someone with clout would keep asking about this and not let it just get brushed under the rug and forgotten about.
I feel alone and unimportant trying to get any information about this and that no ones else cares.
When the news came out about the rough release timeframes of ps5 and the next Xbox I have to believe that killed any major plans/optimizations to improve either existing console. The timing makes too much sense.
Just like announcements like a major graphics overhaul & crossplay options both possibly being out as the next gen consoles are suddenly around to showcase them.

I think so. Taking another DS hit, or a stun while running Oni's Nemesis perk, would do exactly that I believe.

Exactly how would the devs do this? I dunno about other platforms, but on Xbox the party chat is entirely separate from any game, and I believe a few years back Microsoft mandated any game they accept cannot interfere with the party chats at all.
-
Consolers : So, is this a PC thingamabob?
-
I have also asked about this option, and yeah the certification timeframes to push out a PTB everywhere make it impossible to do in the normal 6-7 days window they use.
-
Like many others have stated here already, the primary concern with crossplay is the monsterous gap in fps and latency between consoles and a PC. The inconsistent frames and rubber-banding seem too much to overcome right now.
Crossplay between the consoles I'm good with, hopefully it'll decrease the wait times a bunch for both roles. But with a PC no way until the performance is much much closer.
Watching and attempting to play myself (cause I cannot play any game with a mouse) with a bud on their PC felt like another game three years from now. After explaining how the game has never been fully optimized (just baby steps in patches) and returning the favor by letting him play DBD on my Xbox, he kept repeating "No one should have ever played this game on anything but a decent computer".
Hackers don't really bother me either, but differences that I can only describe as "unfair advantages" certainly do.
-
In general tunneling is blind focus on one surv imo. A variation that I often i see what i call "sway tunneling" where the killer will:
1. Dance around the unhooking surv to get a swing on the unhooked one.
2. Attempt to sway around bodyblockers to try and down their tunnel, not even swinging their weapon at a blocker. And not always during EGC.
-
I fail to see how any of this helps improve queue times for either role.
-
The one major change to PTB is like to see would be somehow including all platforms in the testing. Otherwise I think the current usage is fine.
-
Sounds cool. How would consolers not be left out if this though?
-
@sulaiman said:
I disagree. You need to seperate swf from solo gameplay and balance both differently. Why? Because one of the core points of the game is a lack of information. Your solution changes that very core of the game, that some people acutally enjoy.
You can't separate out SWF groups because more than half of the survivors are in at least a two-surv group, and no killers would willingly go against a SWF at all. So more than half of all survivors never get a match again due to mass dodging, ruining lobby times for all.
-
@metalklok said:
hell tell me before so i can dodge
And so would nearly every other killer out there, me included, and send already bad queue times soaring. Since SWF is here to stay, probably as is, we must improve the solos and then rebalance killers around that. It's the only way now.
I can see why they are hesitant to put an indicator even at the tally screen, as i think it would only increase the salty ass messages both ways, no matter the match's outcome.
-
@shwag said:
Yeah and that is pretty much why there will always be a lack of killers. New killers get a lobby of reds and swear the game off lol.
Match making is going to get fixed next year or some ######### when ever they get done pumping out the next 189 different nea cosmetics to help her not look like she suffers from scurvy all while having a mild yeast infection.
Mein Gott that graphic Nea visual tho....

4. As a survivor be doing something. On a gen, runnin bones, in a chase, healing, something. Few things are more frustrating than being hooked and looking around & seeing one being chased and the other two taking a deuce...

All the evidence I see points to the contrary. Look at our current hatch situation. Survivors were toxic and held the game hostage for hours. Many folks we see here admit to doing so. They continued to do it through months of complaining on the forums.
BHVR rewarded them with a free hatch escape even when no gens were done.
Until I see some kind of way to tell when I'm matched up with a premade group, or get the option to not play against them, I don't have much choice except to treat every group I run into as if they are very likely a premade.
I get that sucks for solo players, but until change happens it is what it is.
I can usually feel when I'm going against a swf, and they will win more times than I will. However the devs have stated their reasons for not informing a killer of even a partial swf. More than half of survivors are 2 or more in a group, and they are loath to make any change that could increase lobby times or dodging, as a swf indicator surely would. Not to mention we'd have pregame salt spread as well.
So if we accept no indicator is coming soon, then the "solution" left is the oft-mentioned buff solo surv then rebalance killers around that. Exactly how to achieve this is another whole subject entirely.
I still fail to see how taking it out on an unrelated group of survs fixes anything, and can only spread negativity further.
-
@KingFrost said:
So you got mad at one group of survivors, and decided to take it out on a totally different group of survivors? Or am I misreading it here.
This was also my first thought. When I get trashed as killer I do not take it out on the next group of survivors, who in no way caused my defeat. I either jump off if I'm still tilted, or swap over to Survivor mode for a spell.
Playing both sides for years prevents me from doing what i would consider undeserved venting.
-
I like this idea and did not know it wasn't that way, as I play on Xbox. If they truly wanted to test everything shouldn't all platforms be included? Might cut down on new bugs being introduced, but I do not know the technical side to doing this, and it would likely extend the testing time by a week or more dunno.
-
I miss the old versions that were as big as Mars, but still enjoy them. The two gripes I would have for them now would be as surv finding the darn hatch, and for killin the shorter hunters will struggle some. My poor lil Piggy....

Don't camp pallets.
Exactly right you need to throw pallets early to avoid being shock stuck against them, or keep moving to the next loopable area. Trying to stun a Dr with a pallet will almost guarantee a hit these days. Calm Spirit is the direct counter to screams but is little used.

She is still the best on console. Before I switched to PC, I got rank 1 with her without fail, and this was before the optimization and sensitivity changes.
At red ranks I hardly ever see Nurse on Xbox, and in those rare instances (say 1-2 per month) they are green or purple ranks mostly. So unless we screw around all four of us are getting out. Come to think of it, I haven't seen a red rank nurse this year.

Exactly. It’s a horror-like game people c’mon. You’re telling me NONE of these people have cell phones or walkie-talkies?! Which are ALWAYS utilized in horror flicks... Give the communication device battery life where it could run out, disabling comm for the rest of the trial. That’ll be the price for taking too long as a survivor.
That's the point though, exactly how would anyone disable comms to begin with. Dunno about the other platforms, but on Xbox the party chat is entirely separate from any game, and I believe Microsoft a few years back insisted games they accept cannot screw with party chats in any way.
So how would the devs even begin to disable comms there?
-
I find doc much more annoying than lethal, although his anti-looping is way more strong than his previous version. Matches against him do take the longest no matter the outcome, and with the ping & frames on Xbox he is, well...... annoying af.
-
From a real world practical sense you would think so, just as it would effect running speed as well, but perks and gameplay already incorporate this.
-
I wish there weren't "mains" in either side, just gamers who play both roles often enough to get all perspectives.
Killing has made me a better survivor and vice-versa, although these days I surv more due to playing with friends. But i never forget Mikey or my Piggy bae either, or the gameplay therin.

I keep getting slaughtered by red rank survivors when I'm YELLOW ranked. Just last game there was a 4 man SWF with them all being ranked 1 except for one rank 12.
Noted. We will be doing gens and totems, then taking chests & a few hooks, your wallet, and maybe even your left shoe. Oh and about half the time we're also getting that poor hooked surv out as well.

Well, I mean, 4 is the maximum number of minutes the killer could stand still in that situation, since the first slug would be at 4 minus some number of seconds, and the last person would be at exactly 4.
We all go down at different times so we all have different start times to those 4 min. True the killer is still for just the last 4 min. Feels much longer when it happens though.
-
The one situation involving slugging that drives me bonkers is our team failed so bad we all are all down, no gens done, no unbreakables, and no hooks are made. The killer just stops and stands still for the 4-7 min or so as we all slowly bleedout.
That scenario, while a bit rare, makes me wish for that quicker bleedout mechanic mentioned from time to time. Doesn't happen often enough to justify UB or the other slug perks, but always leaves a bad taste when it occurs. No doubt it makes me slug less when killing.
