  • It's so much more fun to keep my arbitrary win conditions though! Did I reach and maintain my 8 STBFL stonks on Demo? Did I stun or loop the killer long enough to get a juicy face camp with hook smacks? Did I land at least 2 Nurse blinks? Or pull off my breakout sabo play? Or hell, even just do one of my archive challenges? ALL WINS FOR ME.

But in all seriousness, the game's not that serious. I'd rather just have a good time than worry about if I met an actual win condition. I don't play it to win.

  • I clicked survivor bc that's what it's been for the longest time, but I've been putting a lot of time into killer recently, so I'm going from like 70/30 to 50/50 pretty quick. Really all depends if I'm playing alone or with my buddies.

  • Spine Chill, Resilience, Iron Will, We'll Make It

  • There are three that are forever in my brain that I've seen on survivors:

    Hex: George W Bush

    Mettle of Meg

    Object of Depression

Also had a killer the other day called GayTikTok which gave me a good laugh.

  • They pop up in my face every time I load in, so I don't forget they're there, but I usually end up getting them passively, especially the non-specific survivor ones. But I'll usually check my killer dailies on days I'm playing killer just to see if I can quick get a bonus 30k BP from a match bc I played the killer normally.

  • I've been trying to play Oni (which is already laughable on console, but I like to zoom), and I had a NFA match when the whole survivor team played stealth squad. πŸ™ƒ And like the full take forever bc they stealth the second spine chill flickers type stealth squad. I have never been so bored playing a DBD match in the time I've been playing, and I think I ended with one hook and just opened the door for them to make it end faster.

  • If I see I went against a streamer, I'll usually check to see if they're live after the match to say gg in the chat (I play on PS4 so I don't have post-game chat). I like checking back the next day, too, to watch the game from their perspective. Sometimes I can see my garbage moves in-game (like the time I got stuck between crates on Hawkins against a Bubba, I literally laughed at myself), but it's always interesting to check out the other side. For the most part, the streamers that I've popped into the chats of have been really nice! The Bubba for example was super chill, and even watching the playback, he was nice about things the whole game. Had a good laugh with a streamer playing Clown once because we were on Grim Pantry and he fell through the floor right on top of me and scared the crap out of me, so when I popped in chat and mentioned it, he got so happy and said he could only imagine how terrifying it must have been to have big ol' Clown just fall out of the sky on you. I find that most of the streamers I've gone against are just vibing tbh, and in those cases, I like that there's an easy way to have a quick post-game chat cross-platform. But even if it was to a wider audience, I wouldn't care because it doesn't affect me or my game at the end of the day.

  • For survivor, I love We'll Make It, Dark Sense, Alert (though occasionally the noise gets to be A Lot if the killer is constantly kicking things in a short period of time), and I really love Breakdown too. I just think it's funny to have the hook drop once I'm off it, but it shows the killer aura as well, so it's good information to know if you have the time to heal under hook or if it's time to gtfo.

For killer, I really love Bloodhound. I wouldn't call it the best or anything, but it's just so nice having something a little more straightforward that scratchmarks to follow, and the brightness is great on darker maps. Also Surge and I'm All Ears. I feel like Surge is slept on as a gen regression perk, though I know it's dependent on location of gens (and I think it needs a shorter cooldown), but the fact I don't have to think about kicking gens to regress lets me focus on applying pressure other ways. And I'm All Ears is just fun for high wall mind games.

  • I love Claudette's little pained whinny sort of noises, they just crack me up. Also Jeff and Bill's sounds because even though I hate being loud when I play, I just love the gruffness of them.

For killers, pretty much any of the laughs - Deathslinger, Huntress, Freddy. I also LOVE Huntress' little tantrum noise when she gets stunned, and I'm a big fan of Frank's stun noise too. Honorable mention: Bubba's almost-Tusken Raider noises.

  • The Game because I can either never find survivors or never find gens, and especially now that I'm trying to mainly play Nurse, I keep blinking to the wrong floor T_T

And I love the look of Midwich but finding gens on that map or even just how to get up and down is awful, but I very rarely end up on it so it's not a huge bother.

  • Nice congrats!! Once I actually finish unlocking all the survivors and their teachables, that's my next goal.

  • Yui for the sole fact that pulling off a Breakout-Sabo play is so satisfactory. Also, I just think she looks cooler.

  • First: Do you believe that the game is survivor sided or killer sided?

I think it's really dependent on killer, map, and ranks. I play both sides and I don't see one side as having an unfair advantage over the other aside from situational things.

    Second: What rank are you?

Highest I've reached in both is 7 on survivor and 15 on killer.

Third: How long have you been playing/hours played approximately?

I don't know how many hours because I play on PS4 and they don't track that, but I've been playing a year-ish? Not super consistently though.

Fourth: Do you have main characters with the perks that you want in these games at least for the most part?

For the most part, yes. I still need to finish leveling Bubba and Clown to get BBQ and Pop, but I've got pretty much all the other perks I want. Just a matter of them finally showing up in the bloodweb. Goal is to eventually get all of them unlocked though!

LASTLY: Are you a killer or survivor main?

Survivor. Most of the time I'm playing with friends, just vibing. I'm trying to get more into killer, however, because I really want to get into Nurse. I'd say right now it's about 70/30 but I'd love to get it to 50/50.

  • I love the idea of a killer facecamping and you unhook in their face (Deliverance or Kobe) and they get stunned because you flying kick them on the way down. πŸ˜‚

  • My friends and I did it one time because we were playing a Ghostface who was stealth basement camping. He got two people down there and hung out, so I (stupidly lol but I didn't realize) went to rescue and also got caught down there. Last person escaped through hatch because it wasn't like we were escaping the basement anyway if he was just going to stealth upstairs and wait for us to get unhooked. We just didn't feel like stayng in that match longer than necessary and were fine with the depip because it would have happened regardless.

  • Medkits because it's nice to have if I need to heal and no one is around/helpful.

And usually if I don't have a medkit (or a good toolbox), I go in empty-handed.

  • Or let us vault over the car hood like in an action movie.

But this could definitely be a cool chase mechanic, though I'm not sure how easy it could be implemented.

  • It kind of varies between my survivors based on what I have, but I think my favorite build to run is Iron Will, We'll Make It, Balanced Landing, and either Spine Chill or Dark Sense.

When I play killer, all my builds are different because I don't play it as often and don't have loads of perks, but Iron Grasp is a must have in all builds because I hate dealing with the wiggling effects lmao.

  • The Game is my absolute least favorite to play on either side because I can never find anything jasdsjhbah

Favorite is probably the MacMillan maps (minus Shelter Woods), but unfortunately I haven't been able to appreciate the reworks because of the PS4 issues. Lery's is also a fave.

  • Survivor because I got into the game via sister and friends, so I usually play with at least one of them. I do like playing killer; I just don't play it nearly as often.

  • For me, it's less Hag herself and more how some Hag players play combined with how dumb solo q'rs are against her. Played a game against her yesterday where she set up her traps around me on my first hook but proceeded to stay in the area despite people not being directly there, which meant no one came and got me, which meant I stayed on that hook for 2 minutes before I died on first hook. And this isn't exactly an anomaly situation.

I've played against a VERY GOOD Hag before and it was one of the most fun games my friends and I had. Her traps were so well-placed and she was so good at constantly spreading damage and wasting our time, and the whole game was just exciting moment after exciting moment. Unfortunately, this is not how most Hag players play.

So TL;DR - I think you're just getting flack from how a good number of Hag players play (especially lower-rank Hag players), and people just not wanting to go against that. Because I don't think there's anything wrong with Hag as a killer because she's counterable but still very strong with the right player.

  • The first time I ever saw Hag pull someone out of a locker. I about peed my pants.

  • We'll Make It is definitely in my Top 5 perks, and I run it in almost every survivor build I have. Being able to get the heal off quickly to return to objectives, or being able to finish it while the killer runs back is such a good thing for the survivor side. I'm honestly surprised I don't see it more often.

  • If you three-hook and sacrifice a survivor, it's 2100 BP (500 for each hook, 200 for each stage). Honestly if the 4th player gets hatch and you never even hooked them once, it sounds like they outplayed you. But if you've got them on second or third hook, you're not losing out fully on those bloodpoints. I'm going to assume if you've worked hard for the 4k, you've at least hooked that person once (700 BP there), but probably hooked them twice (so 1400 BP for that survivor's hooks and sacrifice stages).

It's really not that many bloodpoints in the grand scheme of things anyway. If you hooked them once and they escape, you're losing out on 1400 BP max. Let's assume you got your 4 BBQ stacks and also brought a 100% BP offering (like Survivor Pudding or BPS). That's 4200 BP. One uncommon yellow item at best. Surivors don't get points for dying (unless they're the Obsession), so why should killers get points for someone escaping?

As a way of thanking cross-platform wholesome Killers or Survivors, I give them thumbs-up in the Feedback/Report section after match.

I don't know if they actually receive the message I send there, but I assume it counts for something. It's the category that says something like "Amazing teammate, overall knowledgeable on the game or fun to play against". I also give them to players I just find really fun to play with, Survivors and Killers, regardless of farming.

Yes, I always give thumbs up props to people I like playing with/against! I also don't know what it does, but if it's the only thing I can do, it makes me feel like I did something.

  • Like a week or so ago I had a game on Midwich against a Pig. Someone DC'd IMMEDIATELY upon loading into the map, so it was too late to actually cancel the match, and they had the DC icon on the hud as soon as it appeared. My friend and I felt really bad, but we did do a gen at first, and then we went looking for the killer. Wasn't sure if she'd actually be down for some farming so I tested the waters with the crouch and boop, she accepted, and we had a really fun time (at least I hope she did as well!). She led us to the boxes, even crouched and 'did a gen' with us. The third survivor eventually joined in toward the end, but for the most part she sort of just did her own survivor thing, which is fine! At the end, Pig came to the exit with us and we said bye. Was just a fun match, and I just wish she had been on PS4 as well so I could've thanked her for it!

  • I choose depending on which cosmetic I'm feeling. On some chars I have many but then usually end up using just one, but I like having the options to rotate between things.

  • The only time I've seen this happen is when I'm playing killer and get steam-rolled; a survivor will drop the nearest pallet to the exit gate and spam vault it to get my attention.

As a survivor, I've done it completely by accident in the middle of the match because I meant to do one action but ended up getting 2px too close to the pallet and dropping it instead. πŸ˜‚ Never on purpose, though. I try not to waste pallets because I'm not the best looper, and I want to make sure my teammates have some if needed.

  • I clicked other because it really does depend on where I spawned and what's around me. Usually there's at least one other survivor near me at the beginning, so task #1 is always t-bag to say hello.

Then if I have specific tasks, I do specific things. Like charging straight to where I think the killer spawned if I need to be chased for a daily/challenge.

Otherwise it's doing whatever thing is closest. If that's a gen, a gen; if it's a totem, a totem. If I spawn away from both, I head toward the middle in search of them.

  • So I don't really know what's small or large (like someone else mentioned), but I definitely think Legion just needs some love. Honestly, I would love if they had an iri add-on that allowed them to down someone. Blight has that add-on of having an instadown on his last bounce charge or whatever the phrasing is. What if Legion could have an add-on that was like "After three successful hits in Frenzy, the 4th hit will automatically put the survivor into the dying state" or something to that effect? It gives a bit of lethality to the power, but the person playing Legion has to work for it, and there's always the chance that there aren't enough survivors in the area to proc it, so it wouldn't be totally OP.

I also think the buttons that add status effects to survivors should apply to all survivors hit in frenzy, not just the survivors after the initial hit.

Also totally agree with not having the power gauge deplete as much as it does (if any at all) on a successful basic attack. Why should I get punished for getting a hit if my power's still recharging? Wasting time for it to come back up isn't smart, and then I can't down a person with it anyway, so that seems ridiculous. Or at least not having it deplete if the basic attack puts the survivor into the dying state.

  • So I see it as games go one of three ways:

    • I 4k (or 3k+hatch) before the gates are actually opened
    • It's a good game and a fight to the end and I'm chasing people out trying to get that last down and kill before people escape - usually the 1-2k games
    • I get absolutely steamrolled and frustrated and just open the doors as soon as they're powered

Obviously first situation doesn't apply to this. Second situation sort of applies, but at this point, players are usually trying to make that save or bodyblock for injured players, so there's still a sense of gameplay. Or people are making sure their teammates get to the door. I'm fine when that happens.

It's the last situation where I just want them to leave. It's like if you're having a party and it's time for everyone to go home - you open the door and tell them to gtfo. If they don't, they're rude. At that point, just accept the victory and go, especially when everyone's already there. Literally every time I do this, I get survivors tbagging and trying to flashlight blind me, and while I get that the blinds get you points as a survivor, nothing else does. (Also blinds hurt like.... why do them when you've already won.) I usually go around to find the hatch or break pallets or walls, or I just go be sad in the basement, but like.... please. Just leave. Let me move on to my next match.

  • I never know what to expect! Each game is a different, so there's always something new I'm learning or something new that makes me jump.

It's also super easy to use as a mind break from something else because I can say "okay, two or three trials, depending on queue and game time" if I just need a quick break, and I can easily do that, whereas if I get into a more story-based game, it's harder to find a stopping point sometimes.

I like the challenges in the game - dailies and archives. They give it a little bit of purpose without being some impossible task.

And lastly, especially in COVID times, it's an easy way for me to socialize. I let my friends know I'm hopping on, and they can join me if they're free.

Also some of the sound effects are just really pleasing. Love that sound when I break a pallet tbh.

  • My only issues with stealthing from a survivor perspective is that they don't tend to be the most altruistic teammates, or they literally won't get anything done because their play is to stealth off the second they hear a heartbeat. (Literally had a teammate get a crow from stealthing so hard yesterday.) I know that's not true for everyone who plays this way, but it's true for enough of them that I do have a slight issue with it. To have someone stealth around and not be a helpful teammate but then escape through the hatch is just super frustrating to play with. So if someone can find a balance of that, then I'm fine with it, but that balance comes less often than not.

As a killer, I'm just repeating the person above. Finding stealthy players gets really boring. I'd rather get absolutely outplayed in a chase than spend forever looking for someone. I've played games where I can't find ANYONE for a while, and I know eventually that's on me once gens start popping, but if people are so immersed that I still can't track anyone down, those are the games I just open the doors once they're powered and start spamming my power for BP.

  • As a survivor, in situations like that, I never get angry at the killer. If they're at that hook and someone's there, it makes sense to chase that closest person. It's moreso poor game sense on the survivor that decided to try looping you at shack instead of leading you to a different tile (they also should have caught on to the fact you weren't trying to hit them either and connected the dots). Whenever things like that happen in game, I'm usually on my end going "LEAD THEM AWAY" even though they can't hear me.

So no, defo not toxic. Smart play on your part.

  • Deathslinger. I don't think I've had a single game against a Deathslinger where I actually had fun.

  • I rarely dodge a lobby, but if it's 3-4 P3 Claudettes with items (doesn't matter which items) then I'm out. I don't want to spend a whole match playing hide and seek.

  • For both sides, when I at least safety pip. I'm not good at actually escaping, but as long as I've done enough to help my team and safety-pip or better, I feel like I did well. As a killer, I feel pretty good if I get a 2k.

And sometimes my win is just getting a challenge done. I was playing killer today because I had three dailies. I got them each finished in one match (and finished a tome challenge between those three matches), and then I played a fourth match and got another tome challenge finished. If I hadn't gotten Haddonfield for 3/4 matches I would have continued because I was feeling pretty good about it all, but I was tired of only getting one map lmao.

  • Fun: Demogorgon always, Ghostface if he's like being a little memey but also actually playing

OK: Pretty much everyone else in the middle

DC: Deathslinger, Hag (especially silent traps, went against that for the first time recently and lmao hated my life)

  • I like these ideas, but like even if it was just reducing that fatigue by a second and not depleting the gauge on a missed attack, I'd be happy.

  • I don't know if it still works, but there was a code the other day ENTITYPLEASED for 150k BP and ENTITYDISPLEASED for 1 BP and that was the funniest thing for me for no reason.

Wonder if DADDYMYERS will come up with anything... πŸ€”

  • I run in more in solo queue than when I'm playing with a friend because I'm less likely to get healed by randos. It's nice to have that speed boost on things if I'm away from killer and just trying to get things done. But it's always a toss-up if it'll get used out of chase based on how people are healing.

Mint if you're going against a plague and can't cleanse tho, or even an instadown killer who's really making use of that so there's not really a point in being healthy.

  • Freddy, even though I don't have loads of games with him under my belt. I just seem to have better matches with him. Doctor was the other possibility for me.

  • I would absolutely love to be able to sell back items and offerings for half price so that I can use those BP towards more perks (or items I actually use). I think it would definitely help with the grind a little bit as well. But some of the offerings are SO pointless (I'm looking at you 25% Survival BP Bonusο»ΏπŸ™„ο»Ώ) that it'd be smarter to sell it back for half that to use it in a game.

  • Usually on off days, I'll switch from one side to the other, but if gameplay there doesn't feel better, I just shut the game off and go watch cartoons or play puzzle games on my computer. Because you can't control 4/5 players in the game, it can definitely get frustrating, and the best approach is a little bit of distance until you're mentally ready for it again!

  • Just the other day I actually screamed because of a Myers. I was minding my business walking to a gen in the corn, suddenly hear one inhale and I'm stabbed. And the number of jump scares from him gets me, and also just trying to escape while he's in Tier 3.

Oni would otherwise be scariest (that roar and I'm like "OH ######### OH ######### OH #########") but I just don't see him often enough to him to beat out Myers.

  • I think it's all by chance. My sister has a "No, /I'M/ the obsession" build that's like DS, Mettle of Man, Object of Obsession, and For the People, and still we loaded into a lobby and I was the obsession (and I run zero obsession perks).

I'm not sure what the actual percentage increases are in terms of being the obsession, but let's look at it as if the killer is running an obsession perk but no survivors are. Each survivor has a 25% chance of being the obsession. Survivor obsession perks increase that, so let's say that all together those perks increased the chance of being the obsession by 15%. So now you've got a 40% chance of being the obsession, and the other three survivors still have a 20% chance each. And then the random pick happens from those percentages.

At least this is how I've always assumed it was done. This wiki page has a little more info but no specific numbers: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Obsession

  • I need an other option for when I'm clowning around with a Ghostface.

  • Me @ Trapper: 😍
