  • Current console optimization. Please please please give us hope with this topic.

Besides that, I'd personally love to see both Mori and Key reworks that satisfy most, as that debate (and DS and maybe SWF convos) can become quite heated.

So an update from myself I took apart my ps4 gave it a clean. It no longer sounded like a jet engine while the game loaded up or while playing.so that's good.

Unfortunately while playing surivior we got lerys and it was still really bad frame rate wise which I was super sad about as was against a Amanda's letter piggy.

Skill checks was super weird like stuttery. I was getting huge frame drops when I used lithe after vaulting a window. I had a green 70 ping also.

So sad to say cleaning out my ps4 did nothing to help apart from the noise my ps4 makes while playing dbd.

Clearly this wasn't an enjoyable experience for myself and my friend I was playing with.

I really don't understand we both was discussing that the new lerys when first came to console never felt this bad. It's very noticeable the frames on that map compared to others.

    🐷

Darn you Lery's!! I find the center room the biggest problem for either role, but killing on this map is sooooo fustrating. And I swear whenever I roll out my Piggy and i get Lery's (with or without offering) there usually seems to be a fog offering too, and this combo makes my Xbox want to throw itself down a well...

It should penalize with reduction in repair time and not recovering from exhausted when the survivor is injured or die state

Think this suggestion through mate. So with this change an injured surv would never lose exhaustion. But Dead Hard (a widely used perk) requires you to be injured and not exhausted to activate. And Resilience goes out the window as well like others have mentioned, and Thanaphobia won't mix with this change either.

I think that her traps are fine and Pig is an add-on pass and a few number tweaks away from being ine of the best killers in the game.

I did also do a full post about how I'd change most of these add-ons and even saying that the skill checks for the boxes should be replaced with the Doctor's Madness checks.

The Dr skill checks, while unique to him, make sense here as any person who realizes the danger of the trap and has to stick both wiener beaters inside such a device wouldn't stay sane long!

Hi everybody! I’ve been lurking amongst the shadows on this forum for a few months now but finally decided to make an account so I can start joining in discussions. I just wanted to say hi and nice to meet everybody. My name is Daisy and as you can see my favourite survivor is Claudette.

I’m not sure if this is in the correct place but I looked for some sort of welcome centre and couldn’t find one. So apologies if this doesn’t belong here.

    Hello there!

I turned crossplay after the first day as well. Between bad teammates and the game feeling even worse with frames/lags I was done after trying a dozen matches on the first day. My waits were actually worse with crossplay on, as soon as I turned it off I was getting into lobbies much faster. If I couldn't turn off crossplay I would've just deleted the game after that first day because it was awful.

My waits were about the same for Surv but instant as always for killer without Crossplay.

Buy a next gen console so a 4 year old game will run properly. 😂

Who said properly? Maybe just a lil better...

  • Are you on PC, and are you asking if Crossplay is still active? Which yes it is.

Just watch the fog on the loading its very noticeable the freezing have no idea what it's like for xbox 1 but my PlayStation sounds like a jet engine during the load screen also.

I did watch a YouTube video on how to clean out your ps4 the guy doing said that dust etc can cause frame drops and stuttering so going to clean out my ps4 at the weekend.

Also I was watching a streamer who plays dbd regularly on pc and he even said that dbd is really badly optimised for pc. So it's not just us but we have it worse.

Will let you know if I see any improvements! good luck with your experiments tho. Unsure if your playing cross play if so I truly hope to see you in the fog.

I turned off Crossplay the day it came out, after several laggy af surv rounds and two of three truely soul crushing attempts to roll out my Piggy.

Each of the three were all globes, running the usual perks around my lowly rank of 13. All three games were indoor maps of course, and the last one was two, two mind you, Lery's offerings and a fog enhancer. I do not think any of the matches were SWF, or they lacked obvious coordination.

    1. Gideon. One kill purely due to a 16 Claud not knowing an active trap kills at the gate. Frame drops when breaking pallets, a gen popping, and in particular applying Sloppy ram me into walls really badly. Last gen popping froze the game for a few seconds.

    2. Lab. Two dc when we load in, lots of booping of snoot and farming action the rest of the way. Only frame drops I noticed were bloodlust poppin n droppin, and for each of the four unhook animations.

    3. Lery's. During the camera 360 turn when we loaded in the game froze for a couple seconds. Lost frames when I hit bloodlust each and every time, causing several whiffs. Lost more frames each time I had to vault of all things, something new to me or I never noticed it before. Gen popping close froze game a bit. Frames very bad in the center room I tried to stay outta there. The simplest butt wiggle in front of me and I hit air. 0 kills.

    Bottom line:

Lery's + fog offering + Xbox = bad day at the office.

Self Care is actually more efficient. Heal time is the same: 2 Survivors healing for 16 seconds is the same as one for 32 seconds with regard to doing generators. But there's no time spent finding each other. Self Care's performance with regard to Survivor outcomes is quite good, actually.

It's not always the right play to spend 32 sec to heal, but it's not always the wrong play, either.

I think I should put this response on a keyboard macro. :D

Change SC to be 30 sec at base, but increase the bonus for a great skill check healing another to make that method ever so slightly better. Make Greats great again! Might even help stop a team mate from ripping my spleen out when they potato the checks...

  • Ok if I don't restart my Xbox (not just the game a hard reset of the console) every 5-6 matches the menus get slower and slower. Likewise for running bloodwebs they jam up and stutter badly without frequent restarts, especially multiple lvl 50 webs it's really noticable cursor teleports around the screen for like 6-7 seconds.

  • I too hope any sort of timetable for helping out ailing frames comes out of the Q&A session.

I read a few pages back about experiencing freezes and drops while navigating the game menues, which I hadn't really tried myself as I spend little time in them. On my Xbox1 it either goes very slow or outright freezes thenever I swap between killers their roster page. I can't remember if there was a pause like that when changing killer in a lobby before they got locked. I also drop frames heavily in pretty much any part of the store. especially playing around with cosmetics. I will experiment more later on.

  • Let us pray....

We humble consolers pray for our frames, the frames of our friends and family, the frames of our neighbors, and most especially the frames of our brother and sister Switchers.

We humble consolers ferverantly wish the mighty devs hear our prayers, and love our platforms as they love their child, DBD.

I'm all for supporting the FPS fix for console players.

But there's one thing I need to point out. PC players will have an advantage against console players because of superior hardware.

So why mix all the platforms and call it fair? Why even have the game on console knowing it runs much more poorly?

  • @Pulsar said:

I try not to complain, I just criticize. I WANT to play with PC players. I just want it to be on an equal playing field, that is all.

This. I wish PCrs would give this game a go on console, especially as killer, and see for themselves what the experience truely is like.

    I really love this prayer.

On their official update about next gen there was no mention of optimizing current gens. Hopefully they do something to fix the FPS issues we listed in the original post.

Hope so too. Last two patches have really hurt performance for me, and i see from the various posts quite a few others as well.

I loved seeing that prayer, it was truly an enjoyable thread that had an unfortunate ending.

Once had my game freeze on Lery’s as I opened the door, almost died too because of it, not exactly sure if I got unlucky or it’s because of our current state of optimization. Maybe other’s have experienced as well?

you dont need anything near a 2080 to get 60 fps on dbd :|

And exactly which model Xbox1 should I get to attain this lofty 60fsp? Most of us consolers would give up our first born, our left shoe, and even a kidney for a steady 25-30...

  • I rather enjoyed most of that uber thread, especially the humor & Star Wars memes. In the main it was civil and even constructive. I tossed in my optimization concerns and commented on others, but I also reached out to our PC cousins for their input several times and was warned (not by a mod) it was best not to repeatedly do so. Plus I posted an entertaining fps prayer several times. If any of that contributed to its closing I do appologize to you all. This is a subject we all feel passion for, just as we feel passionate for DBD.

On topic: the combination of the Clown's gas expanding right as a pallet was droped momentarily froze the game. I was mid slow vault and actually stopped for 2-3 seconds, then finished the animation.

Xbox1, Sheltered Woods, shack window, outside pallet, Nea on hook 1st phase (thankfully) beneath us, 60-70ish ping. Unhooking her also dropped frames hard, and the Clown was not near us at the time.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Okay so this is kinda on topic I'm almost 100% sure but uh, as a joke I decided to play with my usual Ultra+ settings (everything but AA and Shadows is cranked up to above ultra, AA and Shadows are set to 0, and I think I've got a resolution of 183%) and double the framerate from 60 to 120. Now, I've got a 60hz monitor so I wouldn't be able to see any difference but I turned on the FPS counter to see how many frames I was getting.

Most maps were fine. All killers were. Solid 120 across the board with a bit of stutter but it never went below 90.

Then came Midwich. I dropped to an average of 80-65 and at a point I dropped to 45 for a couple of moments. This bearing in mind from a pc that runs Minecraft with shades at 600fps (and that doesn't even use all my CPU/gpu/RAM).

How do you people manage? If I'm dropping to 65 on a computer that could run Cyberpunk 77 with ease, how are you guys even alive?

I play on Switch sometimes but the few times I have played since 4.0.0 I've never encountered this map and now I never want to. Holy #########, I knew the issue was bad (bc switch) but I didn't realise Lerys/Midwich was quite this large of an issue.

Thank you for a PCer viewpoint, and relating what you noticed. The indoor maps indeed are a concern for frames.

Also the quote of the day for me has to be "how are you guys even alive"

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Another PSA for my fellow console gamers: Don't use Hex: Ruin, if someone wants to they can repeatedly tap gens and that will drop your framerate because there are so many spark effects.

Please do not do this to other players.

Opening and searching a chest lowers frames as well, and can kill a surv struggling on a hook. Most consolers know this, but do it anyway.

  • @Azgard12 said:

    Hello,

Just now I played a game against a Spirit wearing full blighted gear on Lery's (they brought the offering). Game ran like no frames per second and was a complete disaster. I honestly think the player did this intentionally, but everyone died first hook and super fast anyhow...

Losing my will to keep up with the glitches.

Sorry to hear fellow killer and gamer. I think survs have figured out indoor maps and fog offerings crush console killer fps and have been using them both like I've never before.

I have tons of offerings to the indoor maps (except the new Silent Hill one) on my survs but never use em because I dislike them all so much, for either role.

Blurred screen? Im not sure. Is it only on killer or survivor?

Also dang this really makes it hard to play dorito boi or doctor...it skips so much when playing these killers.

The only killers that can have an "ok" frame rate are trapper and wraith and sometimes clown like that other poster said somewhere above me. May just have to play these killers only until the fps is sorted. I havent played pig in a bit but shouldnt her fps be fine too?

Clown drops frames with the bottle gasses expanding, and even further with an exhaustion add-on. Piggy suffers same drops as other killers, nothing specific to her that I've noticed. Just the usual bloodlust kicks in, Sloppy applied, breaking pallets, a gen pops nearby still all hurt performance on Xbox.

The frame drops on every trench that I dig, doesn't matter where. Not sure what you tried to affirm with this comment because his trails don't even last near hooked survivors...

Haven't felt it with every trench dug everywhere, but say more than 18 or so meters away from a hooked surv absolutely. Crazy how part of a new killer's power can hurt fps so badly.

Pyramid Head has been getting such bad frames lately :(. Whenever I put his sword on the ground I have frame drops and also his trails seem to cause it.

Digging his trenches near a fire barrel, a gen that has some progress, or a hooked surv can all cause frames to drop I've noticed.

Why would PH want to lay them around a hooked surv I wonder...

    ;)

A “Good” nurse manages the care of patients, monitors vital signs, administers any additional needed medications, schedules needed treatments, communicates with doctors, educates family members on patient status, monitors patients for any signs or symptoms of worsening health, and meets additional patient needs.

A bad nurse slaughters everyone with patience, precision, focus and a smooth, relaxed, systematically established flow. Their mind isn’t wandering. They’re not thinking of anything else. They’re totally involved in what they’re doing. Dopamine levels peak, progressing into euphoria. Outside noise is drown out as the world seems to be cut off entirely, lessening the awareness of one’s self and one’s problems, assuring every time that 5 enter the trial, only 1 remains... floating contently, consistently pleasing to the entity.

Asking it once per thread is plenty- if you didn't get a response the first time chances are you won't on your second or third.

I will keep that in mind. With more responses I was hoping to dispel the dismissive "umph.... Consolers..... whatever at least my quque times are better" vibe I've been feeling. Allies would certainly help our cause some.

  • Such a listing would have to be platform-specific, as Nurse is quite effective on PC but ineffective on console. Spirit and maybe Freddy are the only two who imo can consistently win wherever played. Billy used to be almost as high but his initial steps have been hurt by recent changes.

The rest of the cast become so perk, add-on, and map dependant to be inconsistent killers, at least on Xbox1 at red ranks.
