If you are finding DBD frustrating, I would recommend just taking a break and playing something else.
If you dont have anything else to play I can give some recommendations.

I play him addonless for the most part and it just barely works. But I know what you mean. Engravings on Lery's are worse than nothing. It's one of my least favorite maps to play on (only topped by Haddonfield and GoJ).
Yea, it's partly why I have been leaning a bit more into Billy's unconventional addons; Leafy Mash + Apex Muffler is an addon combo Ive been using a lot lately, really good for snowballing, and makes him a menace on indoor maps, would recommend checking it out if you got the time for it.

It's not quite true that you need BL 3 to catch up but before you do, you'll often find yourself in BL 2. Depending on rng it can get a bit better but also much worse. I had someone with MfT and Hope on that map a little while ago and I could not catch up to him for the life of me until I finally reached BL 3.
Honestly though, I can't say I blame anyone for playing like this on Lery's. Because most loops on their own aren't that strong (apart from the ones on the edge of the map). It's a pretty boring map to play on in my opinion.
How on earth do you play Billy against this strat on this map?
You get used to it and try to ignore the pain. My best strategy so far is to run after the survivor and build up BL until we finally reach a loop, where my power actually works. Sometimes you can make survivors panic by revving the chainsaw and getting them to vault weak windows, so you can hit them right after but that only works against less confident survivors. Other than that you can try and play M1 killer with a bit of mobility (around the edges and the middle halway) but that's not why I play this killer.
I just dont even bother using my Chainsaw unless Im backreving and the Survivor cannot reach anything.
Though I ultimately consider getting Lary's as Billy a waste of my addons since Engravings really work against me when doing it.

I audibly groan when spawning into this Map every time. As killer, I can usually get a 3 or 4K but the match goes on for far too long.
As Survivor, I can never find the generators. It's so annoying and I will never get used to it if I haven't by now.
Does the community view this as a Survivor-sided map? I find it to be slightly worse than Midwich.
It can be rough depending on the Killer.
If you are a Killer like Ghostface, even with your Night Shroud, Marking a Survivor is basically useless since there is normally a safe Pallet anyways. And even with certain chase powers like Demogorgan's Shred or Hillbilly's Chainsaw Sprint, Survivors have enough Pallets to waste that they can just pre-drop and play every tile safe without getting a hit.
Meanwhile with other Killers, Nurse being a prime example, there isnt much the Survivors can do on their end. There arent many LOS blockers, pallets are useless against her, and it's pretty much an instant lose if you get Nurse on Gideon. Another example would be Legion's Feral Frenzy, it handles really well and I consistently get Chain Downs with his power since pallets dont really stop him effectively.
I dont necessarily count is a Survivor-sided or Killer-sided map, but I personally believe that it could use a rework since it does not feel like a good map to play on (for both Survivor and Killer).
-
I personally hope they just make the fast reload from Iron Maiden basekit and then remove perk interactions with affected Reload Speeds (same with Trickster).

Match after match is nothing but Boil Over. What is going on?
Ive seen a lot of people using Boil Over and FTP + Buckle Up... mostly FTP + Buckle Up. I had a match were 3/4 Survivors were using FTP + Buckle Up, they were also decent in chase but I managed to get 7 hooks that match.
Obviously people can run what they want, it is just a game, but I will admit that it is frustrating to go against this stuff, but at the same time I kind of handicap myself by only using Shadowborn so Idk.

@jonifire said:
I think he is fine, but could get a buff in curving and a smaller hitbox to not hit everything.
Expanding on this:
~Heavy Clutch should be basekit; for those who dont know, it reduces the collision zone specifically with objects and environment, it does not affect collision with Survivors, meaning you wont hit off screen objects when using this addon.
~Dad's Boots should be basekit; just makes Billy easier to learn and the addon by itself provides a small enough buff to not be too big of a change.
~More Bloodpoints for downing a healthy Survivor with a Chainsaw Sprint; Bonus BP Score for downing an injured Survivor to encourage players to use their Chainsaw over M1'ing.
~Collision with objects and environment is removed for 0.5 seconds when starting a Chainsaw Sprint.
~Hillbilly should no longer hit objects and environment after canceling a Chainsaw Sprint while too close to an object (you can get put into two different cooldowns sometimes, which with how his cooldowns are, it was miserable).

I would say about 90% of killers would quit if they added 5 sec DS back.
Since it is deactivated in endgame Im perfectly fine with it being 5 seconds or having a Haste effect with a 3 second stun.

I think they will just remove the FOV part of it's effect, either that or replace it with another effect like what they did for WGLF.

We asked for more communication and they are doing it lately.
We all hated "soon" word and now they started give us dates for 6 months period changes.
They are making Q&A events and giving us good informations.
But now community is complaining why X changes are not here, why Y did not mentioned.
Seriously? Real?
They can't work on everything at same time. If Myers and Freddy did not mentioned for next 6 months changes, it just means they are not ready. But it does not mean they are forgotten.
As Freddy fan , i am dying to see him be fun and good again but i understood they have limited time for mid-chapters. Because they are also working on 4 new chapters every year.
Especially 2023 , they did amazing job here. They deserves some credit.
People want accurate information, the issue is that game development is as simple as that, soon can mean months fixing other issues before getting around to implementing a change, soon can me it will come next week or so, live services games come with a lot of positive and negatives and it's just apart of it.
The reality of the situation is that most people have no experience with game development, they dont know what goes on behind the scenes, and thus have not appreciation for the process and work that goes into it, they only care for the end result, heck I even use to be the same way until I got involved in game development when helping my brother who is a software developer.
I wish people were more patient, and I wish people were nicer to the developers.

It's not useless, at least on Wesker, depending on the position of the vault, Wesker can gain distance on the Survivor by using his dash to cover large distances quickly.
With Legion, it isnt bad either since Legion can run really quick and in many structures can cause him to get an injured state without needing too much effort (that being said, Legion doesnt really have much going outside of the first hit or the elusive insta-down from 4 chain-stabs).
-
@Wexton said:
This might be unpopular, but I really enjoy Billy's scream. It adds a lot more character to him, and honestly, it's quite funny.
I think it would make a bit more sense if it played upon downing a Survivor, makes it seem like he is hyping himself up or something, it also keeps it in line with other Killer powers like Demogorgan's roar or the Nightfall Chanting of Dredge.
-
Making Bots smarter isnt really going to fix much, I rarely see people DC in my matches, instead most Survivors just give up on hook since they do not receive a DC penalty for doing that.
-
How would an accessibility feature be "cheating"?
Any Survivor can use it, you are not technically at an advantage since anyone can just enable it in the settings.

Making the game a 1 v 3 will always top getting a hook on everyone, there has never been any incentive to spread hooks. This stuck out to me. Its true. But the part I love is that these humans need an incentive to enjoy a game. Do killers not enjoy the chase? Is the 3-4k all your tunnel vision can see? That cannot be a fun and exciting way to play and be enjoyable everytime. I've tried tunneling a few games, and it's boring and quite lacking in any sort of skillful approach.
I'm sure I'll be told I'm wrong or 'I love tunneling! so fun!' Cool! You're still not skilled at the game. You're still doing something you know is pretty crappy to other people. But in this world, that's humans!
Hope I run into any of you. You'll chase me til the gens all pop and Ill enjoy the moonwalk out. Especially a tunneling Blight. What a joke they've been lately lol
I feel like anytime I go into a thread, I see you telling someone that they "dont have skill" or some other flurry of insults.
I get your points but it's a matter of perspective; what you call "not skillful" might be skillful to someone else, and vice versa.
Im really tired of hearing/seeing stuff like this since I think it only serves to make people feel bad about how they play a game by denouncing how good or bad they are, and this only serves to create a toxic environment and mindset within the community.
Im not asking much, but please be a bit more respectful when discussing these types of topics.

Like Myers with PWYF?
I think it leans a bit more into the Tombstone Piece/Judith Tombstone addons, but Id count it.
-
Knockout does have niche application, I use it on Dredge to help deny information about where and when I down Survivors, it helps sometimes.
-
Id love to see a Risk of Rain 2 collaboration but I know it will never happen.
It would also be nice to see the Left 4 Dead collaboration be extended into a full Chapter instead of a Paragraph by introducing a Killer for it.

My ps+ requires next August, I don‘t think, that I will pay 72€/year only to play online!
Also you only get games, that you don‘t want.
I would like behavior doing it like Fortnite, Apex etc., where you can play the game without ps+.
If I remember correctly; if games do not require PS+ to play Online, they must provide other services to make up for it.
Games like Fortnite and Apex have PS+ Exclusive cosmetics, which I dont will sit well with the DBD playerbase seeing how people do not like FOMO.

It's been fixed a bit but dear god was it awful on release.

There was the pirate themed outfit for Legion that I really wanted; Ive been really frustrated that BHVR wont bring back these outfits, mainly since there is no reason for them to not do it, it's literally more stuff to sell and more profit to make.

Learning the range of something isn't a skill mastery, its basic knowledge once you've done it for a few days.
Well yes but no; there is a lot of application for it though, since using that knowledge in conjunction with other stuff allows for a huge amount of skill expression, which is why I specifically included "...and..." when listing skillful things since it's more than a single moving part, it is multiple parts coming together.

Regardless my point is that its an anecdotal blanket statement that you're using to justify the use of a fun, stupid tech
there's no benefit to it aside from being silly
let gamers be silly
Final statement I will give on this:
- I never said people couldnt do it, it's a game, people can play how they want.
- That being said, Ill play how I want, and I wont use the Dumb Tech since I see it as BM; and I only BM other players if they BM me first.

Ok so your proof is that you heard it one time from a source you can't verify, therefore I don't believe it's fair to say it "started" as an ableist slur but the name changed when all current records prove otherwise.
Also I'm drunk and I know this doesn't matter at all it's just the principle of it so gosh darnit I'm going to argue with you because i want to.
It wasnt "a single time", I saw it being used many time in Playstation community chats and sometimes Id join VCs because I didnt want to be alone (but I also didnt SWF either, I just wanted someone to talk to) and Id hear people use that term a lot.
If you didnt hear it back then, then good for you, but I have a few friends who have heard it before, but they also played on Playstation at the time, they never used the original name themselves but they have heard other people say it; perhaps it was just a Console thing? Idk.

They were from stuff I watched back in 2018, back on my old PC which I have long since gotten rid of. I cant exactly find that stuff easily unless you happen to have a time machine or something.

It must've been group-specific then because I've never heard it referred to as anything else. I started playing in 2020, but I also have a friend who's been playing since release who says he's never heard it as anything else either.
Back in 2018, I rarely played in SWFs; it was in community servers/voice chats back when Playstation had those.

I've been seeing more and more games now where killers are tunneling hard at 5-4 gens and they would purposely stand and face camp the survivor for them to hop off the hook only to be tunneled down very hard
even when you try to take body blocks for the survivor they would down you and ignore you going for the person they were tunneling hard for
More perks.
We got Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, and Off the Record; if that isnt enough, then BHVR will probably release more perks for it.
I think BHVR said a long time ago that they dont want to outright remove a mechanic or tactic like camping or tunneling, instead they want to introduce perks to deal with the issues.

Because as it stands most killers don't even use M1's. They just spam their ability all day.
- It's a braindead way to play
- There's no skill to this because it's simply just spam
- If this was the intended way to play then abilities would be the basic attack and not classed as an ability
"There's no skill" but there are Killer powers which are objectively difficult to learn/master.
Hillbilly is a prime example, curving is difficult, and most people dont even bother to play them because the trouble of learning how to curve is not even worth the payoff since curving is counterable.
When playing Demogorgan, I have to learn the distance at which I can hit my Shred, how far the Shred goes based on how long I hold my power (i.e. "Do I go for a Long Shred or Short Shred), and using map knowledge to use collision in conjunction with my Shred to gain distance or get into unique spots.
There is skill application with Killer powers, likewise you are punished for misusing your power in most cases (e.g. reloading as Huntress, missed-hit cooldowns for literally any power that has it like Pig, Blight, Demogorgan, Billy, etc.).

This is the part that there is no simple answer to. People will disagree about what the ideal kill rate should be until the end of time. Some feel like 50/50 is the most fair, others will feel like killers in a horror game like this should be a little bit stronger to maintain that power fantasy. Ultimately, it comes down to preference.
Might I ask, what is BHVR as a whole aiming for when looking at the Killrates? 50%? 60%? Does it vary from Killer to Killer? Where do things start to become too much of a %?
Im just extremely curious, so I hope you dont mind me asking.
-
It depends.
Spawning close together normally gives the Killer a lot of early on pressure.
With certain builds though (requires a SWF, of course), you can slam out the first Generator before the Killer can even reach you.
It's a risk/reward-based addon, but in most cases I would suggest never using it.

Where are you getting the ableist slur information? I've been looking but I've never seen it referred to as anything else besides dumb tech.
There's a post on Reddit from four years ago that's the earliest mention of it I've seen and they still called it a dumb tech.
Ive been playing since 2018; I heard this term used a lot in Voice Chats and in older YouTube videos (way before the demonetization standards and restrictions were put in place). Keep in mind, the internet was different back then compared to now.

It ceases to be an achievement-worthy challenge if you continue reducing the requirement.
Honestly I found the 9-Hook requirement to be better than what we have now; I understand that it is suppose to be a "challenge" but there is a certain point where it starts to hinder the gameplay experience and become unfun for both sides.

As my go-to rule if I see a Survivor has an event item I automatically always let them escape. I would hate for them to lose the item.
Other times when a Survivor makes a blatant mistake I will sometimes give them a small head-start or even just let them escape too.
When do you (if ever) allow Survivors to escape?
If they are kind, I give them the Hatch or Exit Gate; Basically, if it was a good match, they played well, and dont BM, Ill let them go. Sometimes I dont though, mostly if it is required for an Archive or Adept, which just makes me feel bad when I do it (I really wish they were changed to be a 3K, not 4K).
Sometimes they give me an item, and if they do that, I 100% let them go and normally swing at the item to indicate "pick it back up" since offering me an item deserves the escape and keeping the item imo.

later on I told another friend the same thing and they said to not use it as its frowned upon in the community, i have no clue if it is frowned upon or not.
so my question is, is it actually frowned upon or are my friends just dramatic about it
Your monitor has a built in crosshair? That's cool, you got any photos? I gotta see this for myself (if you dont mind of course).
-
Depends on who you ask.
My explanation of it is as follows:
- It mostly works on new Killers, the "dumb tech" does not provide any advantage really, it only really puts you at a disadvantage, and I always saw it as BM since people often use it to make fun of new or unexperienced Killers.
- The original name for the tech (seeing how it was used to make fun of people) had a far more harsh name as it used an ableist slur, obviously people stopped using the original name and started using "dumb tech" or "stupid tech" instead.
- To put it bluntly, I always disliked it, it's origins, name, and usage is only there to make fun of people and mock them.
Obviously my perception of the whole thing is different from someone else's perception, we each have our own set of bias, I would recommend hearing all possible sides before formulating your own opinion on this.

For a very long time DBD was already using regional pricing for different regions both for Chapters and Auric Cells purchases. There was a big Steam change that required devs to manually adjust their prices to "suggested/regional" pricing and if they didn't Steam would automatically reflect the original price. Thankfully DBD updated the Store prices to reflect the suggested regional prices but I'm assuming they didn't check the AC costs so it's just the standard USD value for LATAM and MENA which makes it very expensive for some regions. That's how I could sum this situation up.🙂
That's interesting. Again, I dont know too much about it, but thank you for the explanation, it helped.
I live in the US, so I (fortunately) never really have to deal with this since USD, Euro, and ASD have really standard prices for my region.
-
Regional Pricing can be really tricky for games, I hope BHVR can fix this but I dont know much about pricing games on Steam so Idk what is/isnt possible.

They should be listed in the "Community Cosmetics" set (or something with a similar name); BHVR runs contests fairly often, and winners get their cosmetics added to the free section of the Rift, these cosmetics are eventually put in the store for Iridescent Shards (no Auric Cell prices).

I hate it when ppl say "Just use a Sacrificial Ward" when it comes to map offerings. Do you know how rare those are right? You lucky if you see one every 10 levels. It's impossible to bring one every single match. Map offerings are a huge issue in this game for both sides bc the map balance is hot garbage. Also new flash a Sacrifice Ward can be trump by a swf by bringing 4 of the same map offerings. Shoot survivors can even over turn a killer map offerings by being multiple of the same map offerings. Map offerings are heavy weighted towards survivors because there more of them than killer. Every thing a killer can do to prevent a map offering can easily be overturned by the survivors just bring multiple copies of the map they want to go too.
Also some of us aren't hypocrites. I will never use a map offering under no substance because I wholely believe map offerings should be nerfed or deleted. If anything sac wards should be bump down to yellow or brown so we can at least bring one every match. Right now have 100s of brown offerings and if sac wards was one of those browns I would use it every single match instead of bp offerings.
2.2K Hours on Console and 850 Hours on PC; have never had my Sacrificial Ward countered by 4 Survivors using the same Map Offering.
Also rather than outright removing Map Offerings, why not provide constructive criticism in the Feedback and Suggestions about the lack of Sacrificial Wards in the Bloodweb?
-
I honestly think it is a Placebo or something, basically nothing has changed.
-
I mean the Killer can bring Survivors to maps the same way Survivors can bring the Killer to a map.
Map Offerings exist on both sides. Dont like being sent to a map? Use a Sacrificial Ward or a Map Offering.
I can understand the frustration as Killer, since I play both roles (Survivor/Killer), but there are ways to deal with Map Offerings, it's not as huge of a deal as people make it out to be.
