I'm fine with losing as long as I have fun. Just had a match in which our Yui suicided after getting caught first, Leon suicided too and Bill died soon after. I was left on a Billy 1v1. He chased me for 5 minutes while I was desperate for the hatch. He eventually got me when the map was left without pallets. I died, but I still left the trial with a smile on my face because that 5 min chase sure was fun. Lose or win, I still had fun.
Can't say the same about a game in which a Myers grabs me off the gen at 5 gens and I get facecamped while my team mates play Genphobia Locker Simulator 2021.
But that’s the thing, the first person who DCd felt entitled to leave because the match didn’t go their way. Then everyone else felt entitled to leave because they didn’t even want to give it a try just because they thought it would be too difficult.
Myers camping you may not be fun(I agree), especially at five gens, isn’t really the problem. Your chicken teammates who are allergic to the gens are. If they’d power through them and give the killer their 1or 2 kills tops, the killer would be less likely to camp. The reason killers camp at 5 gens is because survivors feed into it. They know that the teammates will usually feel sorry for the hooked person and try for the rescue, which can often lead to 3 or 4k.
It sucks, but it is what it is. There will always be an unfun aspect to a game such as this because it’s very difficult, if not impossible, to balance 4 vs 1 while not making either side too strong.
-
Nah, the biggest problem in this game is the sense of entitlement that people have and not being able to accept the fact that they’re not always going to win.

Am I weird for not minding getting swamp at all?
No, I don't mind it either. It's not the best map, but I'll take it over RPD, Midwich and Hawkins.

I know you don't want to be told to git gud, but really, the best thing to do is learn how to loop properly. There are videos on YouTube that can teach you. It's more than just running in circles. If you learn how to do it properly, you can potentially waste enough time for all the gens to pop. Run DS and Sprint Burst to give yourself distance and time to get to another loop. The better you know how to loop and mind game the killer, the less desirable it will be for the killer to chase you.
Also, don't be the first person to get caught. When the match starts, find some los blockers near a gen and wait for the killer to patrol and leave before you start repairing. Play with Spine Chill so you know the moment the killer is coming for you and sneak away.
Finally, tunneling isn't toxic. It isn't fun at the receiving end, but most of the time, it is the best choice for the killer, especially if you're not good at looping. The faster they get you out of the match, the more pressure they have on the generators. With the current meta, most killers don't have much of a choice, since by the time they find their fist target, play ring around a rosie with a pallet and then get led to The House of Pain or the Cow Tree and finally get a down, 3 gens will pop. Whats the best way to apply pressure when two gens are left? Get rid of someone asap. It sucks, but it isn't toxic and you shouldn't take your anger out at the killer. The responsibility lies upon the developers to make the game fun and balanced for all, not the players. If you can't accept that it is a fundamental part of the current game, then yes, perhaps this game isn't for you.

Is Hex: The Third Seal + RPD Badge considered meta?
Woah there Satan.
-
Nah, none of them make me feel like that. Instead, I get a feeling of disappointment every time I see its a Wraith. It seems like all the old tunnely players who used to play Freddy before his nerf switched to Wraith and just tunnel off hook at 5 gens. The second I hear his grunting or bell, it's an immediate sigh.
-
For me, I like the following in nor particular order-
Demogorgon
Nurse, just not top tier infectious slug at 5 gens Nurse.
Pig, booping the snoot is fun
Bubba
Myers - non-tombstone though
Oni-chan
Doctor
Pyramid head

I can see most of these, but I think walking through Traps should be an add-on, rather than just a base feature. That idea is a potentially very strong addition to his kit.
Yea, I can see it being too strong if he manages to get someone in a shack basement. I really just hope they give us purple bag as base and replace it with an interesting new add-on that adds some risk to disarming traps.
-
@Regulus47 said:
Because giving trapper an extra trap would make him very oppressive at the start of a game, because all he would have to do is bring a setting speed add-on and chases would be impossible against him. He'd just place one trap on one end of the loop and another on the other end, and then you die unless there's another loop right next to it. If you let him have his more broken add-ons like iri stone and bloody coil, which makes disarming traps impossible and removes almost all of his counterplay, he would just be old legion with extra steps.
If this was true, people would complain about his yellow and purple bag add-ons.
-
@ciara1999 said:
I used to main trapper when I got bored of survivor. Without add ons, Trapper is very weak.
With add ons, you can make 2 plays.
Either trap the death of killer shack, or trap the exit gates.
I had a few good games with trapper without using those tactics, but I always had add ons equipped.
My idea for a buff.
He needs to start with at least 3 traps base kit, maybe if a trap gets stepped in or disarmed, after 60 seconds the trap could reset itself.
Trapper needs some love.
His iridescent add-on allows traps to reset on their own, it doesn’t need to be base-kit. I agree he should have 3 traps as base-kit, but he also needs faster base setting speed.
He should also be immune from getting trapped in his own traps. Picking up traps should be faster, if not an automatic function where all he has to do is walk over an unset trap and it’ll automatically be added to his inventory.
-
If you're good at looping and haven't wasted all of the maps resources, yes they will. It may not help with letting you escape, but if you're any good at survivor, you'd be able to run the killer long enough to give your team enough time to finish gens and escape.
If they're tunneling you during endgame, well, that isn't an issue either since it's the best option for the killer and the game is actually supposed to be more difficult during endgame.

Oh god, not Depp Sweeny Todd. That musical was screwed up because the producers just HAD to bank on Depp's popularity.
If you listened to the proper stage play, Depp would have been a shoe-in for the Judge, due to his range, and Alan Rickman should have been Sweeny Todd.
Sorry, it just angers the musical lover in me that the whole thing was butchered because 'star power' put Depp in the wrong role. It's not even his fault.
It's been so long that I forgot what happened in that film and how good the performances were. It was just the first Depp villain that came to mind that I thought would be a better fit for the game.
-
He isn't really a bloody thirsty killer though, he would be better suited to be a survivor and and Sweeney Todd, another Depp character, could be the killer.
-
Working on a gen, spacing out, then noticing Michael staring at me in the distance. It's like, I just looked there and saw nothing and he just teleported out of nowhere.
Seeing Spine Chill light up, Urban Evading away from the gen, only to walk right into Ghostface.
-
Yea, that really should be for Ace. I don't know how they didn't figure that before deciding on Dwight.
Dwight should have a French Maid outfit instead.

You just described a useless teammate in detail aka the thing that makes soloq terrible.
No, I didn't. I described a survivor in brown ranks trying to make it out of their asap. I am still able to do gens, cleanse totems and rescue off hook. Heck, I'd even take hits and get aggro if my teammates were semi competent. But If they keep going down in 3 seconds, what other options are there but to play like this?

A selfish build have I brought in the last 3 matches. Still no good came from it.
Man, it’s not as bad as you think. Yes, when you’re in brown ranks it’s bad, but when you get out of them the matches balance out up until you hit red ranks, where every match becomes a sweat fest.
As someone suggested, bring in a selfish build. I suggest Spine Chill so you can stay off of the killers radar. Inner Strength since you’ll be the only one doing totems. Plunderers for the chance at Keys and Maps. And Urban Evasion in order to stay out of the killers LOS while you traverse the map.
If your teammates are potatoes, let them all die and escape from the hatch or camp one of the exit gates. Prep the gate to just before the light comes on, then hide so when the killer patrols your gate he won’t notice you’ve been there. The second they leave, power it up the rest of the way. Usually, this works for me about 80% of the time unless the killer runs Whispers or the doors are too close to each other and the killer has a clear line of sight of them both.
Also, at the start of the match, plunder all the chests, and if you find a key, take it and move it to a safe corner of the map with lots of LoS blockers. This way, the killer won’t see a key in your and and tunnel you, nor would your teammates find the key in the chest and leave you behind.

Dont forget one big aspect aswell. Ppl love to be treated special, they think they are the center of the universe at their own anime, thats why they want to get treated like that, many ppl dislike to be forced to see how meaningless they are in the end. Thats what I have seen often and also see by myself, its normal.. its human in the end.
Yea, when I first started this game, I’d get so frustrated when I got tunneled or camped and I’d pray for the killer to have explosive diarrhea for a week. I used to get mad at them for not giving the hatch as well!
But as I reflected upon my feelings, I realized I was being entitled, especially after I dabbled a little in killer, and now have no ill will against any killer who camps or tunnels when they have to. I think you’re right, it’s just in our nature, to get upset when we don’t get things our way.
-
Git gud
-
The problem is some people have a warped definition of fair. Who decides what fair is? Many think they’re entitled to decided what it is because “that’s how they play or how they feel”, but the fact of the matter is, the Devs are the ones who dictate what is fair.
So as long as you’re not hacking, using an exploit or breaking any rules set by the Devs, everything else is fair game. Don’t let others try and bully or shame you into thinking that you did something wrong. It’s their way into trying to justify their failure and putting the blame on you.

People are just sick and tired of people begging for Springtrap to be included.
I don't even care about upcoming killers anymore, but I now hope FNAF never makes it in to DBD out of spite for the reasons you list.

^^This. I’m just burnt out and like I feel the game is progressively getting boring or worse despite the updates and content they’re bringing.
Yup. It just feels like every new chapter is like the last, with just a different shade of lipstick.
-
I'm saving them for when/if they ever come out with a new survivor or killer that I'm interested in. Then I'll bring them out to power level them.
-
Well, you took that risk. I'd would do the same as that David. It's boring just sitting on the ground, so I'll just do my best to hide while laughing maniacally to myself!
Also, the most painful experience in this game is getting hooked and seeing the auras of my teammates, where one is hiding behind a rock, another is just moon walking in circles and the third is urban evading around the edges of the map.
-
Because this is what it is like for the Devs to work with its code
-
If they remove Claudette I’ll quit.
Also, I’m actually burned out of this game. They really haven’t done anything interesting or different in the last year.
The anniversary event was a major letdown after they promised us they were going to focus their effort on it and Halloween at the cost of not having other events. The last few killers seemed uninspired.
Trickster, really no need for an explanation for him, The Twins release was terrible, Nemesis feels uninspired, they just cashed in on the Resident Evil brand and gave console an unplayable chapter with the most unfun map ever. Blights collision bug makes him unplayable for a lot of people, Nurses bugs are obviously being ignored, survivors getting stuck or teleporting back to places they’ve run past, Huntress hitting survivors with invisible blimps and I could go on and on.
The one thing this game has for it is it’s one of a kind. No other game is like it and it’s hard to get the same feeling of victory in another game that you get here. I also love the teamwork that happens when playing survivor.
I just wish the Devs weren’t beholden to their corporate overlords and shareholders. They really need to take at least 6 months to work on fixing the games code and balancing maps to be fair for both sides. They also need to take risks and change up the core mechanics, even if temporarily on select weekends. But I doubt it’ll happen.
At the very least, I wish they’d hire a bunch of recent college graduates and pay with to rewrite the game from the ground up. That way, they can continue to make money off of the live game while also overhaul everything with a future chapter.
-
@SirGando said:
That would be so epic! How is that not a thing yet???
I know, right! I’d think something like this would be super obvious for the Devs! Its be much more enjoyable than a lot of their cosmetics. They’d get bonus cookies if they designed them to look like the survivors made the costumes themselves, with glue, cardboard and Papier-mâché.
-
Killer is actually the more difficult role in this game. People enter into DbD thinking that the survivor role will be difficult because you have this big, powerful, oppressive killer chasing you, but at the core of it all, it really comes down to 4 players vs 1.
The killer has a lot more to worry about and really can’t play casually if they care about winning. Which I think is fine, for the most part. The problems arise when the game puts you up against players who are obviously out of your league. It also doesn’t help that maps really aren’t balanced fairly for each side. Some just swing too much in the other sides favor, such as Pallet City Meat Plane and HadNoFun for survivors and Midwich for killers.
It doesn’t help much that the Devs are slow to bring up the weaker killers to be more inline with today’s “split up and rush gens” meta. Nor does it help that the matchmaking in this game is the worst I’ve ever seen and it’s obvious that the Devs either don’t know what the solution is or can’t figure one out due to how difficult it is to gauge someone’s skill in this game.
My advice to you is to just stop playing killer if it’s stressing you out. People play video games for fun. Switch to survivor which is its own form of fun. Meme around a bit. Now that Meg has a piggy mask, I’m venturing away from my Claudette in order to get teammates ,and sometimes the killer, to Boop my Snoot.
Unless you’re really good at killer, it’s best played in small bursts. Or you can just select Nurse and play her until you have her blinks memorized into your muscle memory and can handle the constant fatigue. You can always play Spirit (she’s not as easy as people make her out to be, but she is very strong if you’re somewhat capable).

Yeah I've been trying to use Bond and Prove Thyself in solo queue lately and there's just no reason to bring Prove Thyself. People do not do gens. I'm currently rank 11, and whether I get purple teammates or three rank 20s, people are terrified to play the game. I love seeing killers scream that gens are too fast. Have a life outside of DBD, and try playing solo for a few hours. It's a nightmare.
I only play solo but I’m in red ranks. 3 gens really do pop by the time the killer downs their first survivor if my team is competent (about half of my matches) and the killer isn’t Nurse, Spirit or Blight.
So no, it’s not a nightmare except maybe at lower ranks.
Anyways, back to the topic. We don’t need base kit aura reading. We just need action indicators for every survivors portrait. If a survivor is in chase, they should have a small icon of someone running, if they’re working on a gen, a tiny yellow gen should appear in the corner of their picture (same with totems and chests) , if they haven’t done anything useful for over thirty seconds, a little crow should appear on the top of their portrait. If they’re healing, a little bandage icon should appear.
This way, everyone knows someone is doing something and can make a better decision if they want to continue with what they’re doing or go for a save.
The only other thing Solo needs is better matchmaking. Yes, it should take into account people’s skill, but is should also consider the amount of time played. A player with only 20-50 hours of play time should never be lumped with or against someone who has 300 hours.

Ya I wish they'd do that as well. I could see a chucky skin for Victor.
No! They better not! We need a Child’s Play Chapter with a stand alone Chucky killer!
-
This is why you should continue on playing however you like to play. Swf, whether or not they’re any good, never consider your fun.
They never consider if it’s fun for you when they lead you to the shack the cow tree that is next to two other strong loops with two strong pallets. They never question if you’re having fun when you down someone and are about to hook them only to find the hook sabotaged right before you hook. Nor do they care about your feelings with they bring in 4 tool boxes with at least 2 BNPs and prove thyself.
Yet, when you use tactics that are actually difficult for them to counter, it’s always HOW DARE YOU! Boring, stupid sweaty killer. You’re bad! Haha NoEd, even though they’re all decked out with the Meta and have a key.
Best thing to do is ignore them. Understand that the Devs have repeatedly stated that tunneling and camping are part of the game for a reason, and that there is little chance of them ever being removed because when it comes down to it, in high level play, you’d don’t have much of a choice. Unless you’re Nurse.
-
I never ignore anyone on the hook unless they waited for me to run across the entire map to rescue them, only to Kobe in my face. Someone else can get them.
Petty, perhaps, I don’t care, I could have finished my gen or cleansed a lit totem.
-
While I'm not having many problems (Probably because my PC is upper mid tier and not a potato), I have noticed it lagging erratically here and there. Heck, I like to watch some of the funny dbd clips on YouTube from 4Gamers and you'd see lots of examples of poor performance. So if they're more widespread, the DC penalty should be removed until then. It isn't fair to punish people for something that isn't in their control and should have been dealt with a long time ago.

In all seriousness, different strokes for different folks. It's enough that she was your queen when you were new. I love Claudette, but I wish I could change things up sometimes with another survivor, but no one else appeals to me. Maybe that will change if they ever come out with a shirtless Felix cosmetic that reveals his toned physic.

Some characters are just bound to be there, and a lot don’t stand a chance. Not saying Claudette is a bad character but she most likely won’t be worthy enough to fit in my heart. Meg, Yui, Spirit, Claire, and now looking like Plague were all destined for it.
Claudette is more worthy than all of those (Except Spirit, they’re on par in the cuteness factor) you have mentioned! You just need to play her more so you may bask in her majesty.

You will! You can deny it all you want, but Claudette will claw her way into your heart and you’ll never be free of her!

Nah, he will get a pass, just like Clown, Bubba and Doctor, they will eventually get to Trapper. It’s taking them forever though, I guess due to their terrible jobs with The Twins and Trickster.
He doesn’t need much though, especially not a full rework. He should start the match with 3 traps and have faster setting speed. The only other two things I can think of without making him OP is to make sure Traps spawn closer to the center of the maps and for the traps to take on a hue that is closer to the color of the ground they’re on, since nowadays grass is nonexistent and the traps stand out so much (Ormond).

I hope you go through a permanent Claudette phase.
-
You have to sweat with Trapper. There is no casual play with him unless you don’t mind losing. Best strategy is to either find a 3 gen and trap every nook and cranny around it or bring in Iron Grasp and haul the survivors booty into the basement and never let them out. Trap the inside of the window and the two doorways to make their lives miserable.
