Yes it's very common. Probably better known under the term "Stream sniping".
I get that people want to advertise their channels, but it's one of those do at your own risk things.
-
Trapper's story has soul. You could imagine the Trapper fighting back. Everyone else really doesn't even have the big bad of this universe (The Entity) mentioned so it was probably like 'Let's make a cool killer. Oh right Entity whatever.'
The next time you see Trapper iirc is getting experimented on by who we now know as the Blight, but a lot of other killers got experimented on too which means if they were captured, they're probably not that tough lore wise and The Blight is trading sacrifices for drugs from the Entity. So...to answer your question only Trapper, Blight, Leatherface and kinda Hillbilly from the engravings have anything to do with the games main plot.

Thanks for the advice! I do have soul guard on zarina ( I'm running this build on her right now ) so I could try that out!
Just curious why you would swap resilience out with dead hard? Only because the point of the build is faster heals, so wouldn't it be more effective to remove spine chill ( 6% vs 9%)? ...Or am I totally wrong and Resilience doesn't give you any speed boost while vaulting?
Cuz sometimes the killer sneaks up on you and gets a cheap shot. Someone else was cool with healing to 99% but you're still injured. Plus if another survivor sees you they're gonna heal you that 1% and kill your plan.(Yes someone could point out spine chill lets you know they're coming but in practice you can still get snuck up on and relying on spine chill for killer spotting can be really detrimental) Dead Hard in general is a strong exhaustion perk, and can nullify a nurse blink/swing plus give you that extra boost to a pallet in a pinch. You can use it to bait killer swings, but meh. Too reliant on ping.
Spine chill is the only perk iirc that gives survivors a vault speed boost. I wouldn't use it solely for that but when you get a better idea of where killers path in from/patrol routes etc you just instinctively know where to look for them. (Okay I'm in this corner of the map they'll come from either there or there, etc) That said Spine Chill eventually outlives its usefulness and you can put on a battle perk in its place. Or if you really like the warning try the Alert Perk. It lets you know where the killer is with an aura every time he breaks something, which is...often.
There's no real right or wrong way. You can win games with zero perks as survivor. I'm personally someone that leans heavy into heals because I like tanking hits for teammates that are about to go down etc and I need to be at full strength again quickly. It definitely gives you a lot more wiggle room.
-
You've gotta get into more chases. There's an entirely emblem devoted to it. Get in there and get downed instantly until you're not going down as fast anymore. I believe in you.
-
It's okay. Spine chill gives you faster vaults in a chase. Sometimes that does make the difference. Having an injury perk and healing perks kinda weirds me out though. You're almost always only using 3 perks. Personally I'd swap the 2nd perk for Dead Hard but you can go full heal mode with Desperate Measures with the new survivor teachable or be like me and use soul guard. That one time you recovered and the killer knocked you down again you'll think of soul guard and never ever ever ever ever take it off again.

Dweet has +5 Charisma
Meg has the ability to be underestimated
Claudette has camo
Jake has "Leatherface has to camp you to get your face because Jakes are rare"
Ace is quiet.
Feng is smol squeak toy.
Nea puts killers on the defensive because Neas are usually good at the game. (Unless they're not.)
Laurie has fear of DS even if nobody has an obsession perk in the trial.
Bill is reliably picked up.
David will make killers hesitate to swing because Dead Hard
Quentin will turn killers to stone if he looks at them.
David (Tapp) is Claudette without the looping skills
Kate is easy to sneak up on because survivor players are staring at her boobs
Adam is known for sandbagging
Jeff screams so loud when injured it startles killers
Jane is easy to sneak up on but from the front, because survivor players are looking at her butt
Ash will try to be the hero. Kill him before he gets 3 protection hits!
Nancy will always be within 5 feet of a locker.
Steve is known for being cocky, which means he makes lots of mistakes. No one expects ninja Steve
Yui gets mistaken by a goat if you make baa sounds
Zarina can distract a killer by playing Tunak Tunak Tun
Cheryl is a Q.T. from a really weird franchise. +3 Charisma

I've always liked the Trapper because he has cosmetics that make it look like he fights against the Entity and has the hook scars to prove it. It would be cool to see skins that represent a struggle for freedom with other survivor/killers.

Customizable in what way?
I'm a bit late but my vision is this (and people aren't gonna like it)
So if you play killer for any amount of time, you probably have stacks upon stacks of ebony moris. I think I could mori every game for about a month now without breaking a sweat. So how do you get people to use moris?
So in the cash shop there should be moris you can buy. Different styles etc that shows the mori animation that you would be using in game. Some longer, some shorter, etc.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/188151/why-do-so-many-wraiths-play-like-scumbags
I had this friend who couldn't maintain a relationship. Every woman he dated, all very different, ended up breaking up with him. It would always end in acrimony. My friend would complain endlessly about how horrible women are, rant about their supposed feminine crazy, and on and on. After years of listening to this garbage, I finally had to say, "Look... buddy... the only thing all these women... all these relationships... have in common is YOU. What are the odds that these 30+ women are ALL defective and the source of the problem? Or could it be that this mystery is solved by the only common denominator?"
You sound like my friend. What are the odds "so many" of the Wraiths YOU encounter play like scumbags? Could it be that perhaps you are the one looking at things through scumbag-tinted glasses? Let's play Devil's Advocate here and consider the mere possibility that "so many" of the Wraith Players you run into play normally; that would mean it is you that sucks. Crazy theory huh?
Nah I'm pretty sure Wraith is just a magnet for gross.

When one begins to understand the true power of Dwight, there is no stopping them.
-
Yee haw
-
I thought this was going to be a hatch for a killer. If the match was going really poorly a hatch would open for the killer and he'd get a bunch of bloodpoints and escape the trial. Survivors would then have to complete the remainder of the trial without a killer present.
-
My guide is that the tome is attracting new wraith players, but wraith in general has always attracted potatoes. He's the designated afk in the corner killer for a reason. They don't know any better they're just special.
Edit: Just like Pig players.
-
As Killer I like Devour Hope or Deathbound. People just don't expect it until they have an uh-oh moment.
As Survivor I like Soul Guard and Botany Knowledge. They're just my comfy perks.
-
No. I have been slaughtering globes nonstop. That said there are no queue times, so get those globes rollin' on in.
Edit: Red rank

I see a ton of people use Nea’s, (probably to cover her ugly face) but none of the other’s like Cheryl’s or Jeff’s
Yeah that one's pretty popular, same with the silent hill nurse one. I've seen one Monitaur and one Greek clown. (Doesn't help they aren't common killers to begin with) but all the rest of them? Feels like a waste. I mean really, what sets them apart from other cosmetics though? Is there a legendary skin that has a strobe light effect around me all match with a giant yellow arrow pointing down at my head? No?
They're just clothes, and unless you're really into that set people are going to go with their favorite. When's the last time you saw a mechanic Dwight? Just sayin'.
-
It was a cool concept with a meh execution.
They made some cool skins but nobody really uses them.
-
I've telepathically spoken with every Dead by Daylight player in existence and they all subconsciously agree customizable moris would be cool.

Kinda a pointless mechanic
Imagine though. You are a slug, munching grass and observing your surroundings for music playing predators. You hear a faint sound. It's almost like a church chorus is holding a note. You are compelled to slither towards it, but there's a downed pallet in the way. So, like any other slug looking for delicious bloodpoints does, you begin to travel around the tile to reach the center.
You're almost there. Shame that pallet was in the way, the musical predator has found your quarry and eaten it for bloodpoints. All you can do now is sit there until salt consumes your slug body or allow the predator to eat you. If only you could have crawled under the pallet...

BLOOD POINT BLOOD POINT BLOOD POINT BLOOD POINT YEEEEEAAAAHHHHH BLOOD POINT
-
I stopped saying gg as killer because the survivors can't see it anyway. I'm starting to see them less as people with feelings and more as victims to sacrifice to the Entity. Send humanity asap.
-
Grabs are better and I'm hitting cheeky survivors more often that medium vault through windows.
-
Red rank killers used to have to deal with bologna queue times to play their killer. With crossplay I'm getting the globes rolling real quick. More time in game = more pips
-
Hug the wall as survivor when you're looping. The idea is that you're using your smaller hitbox to get a speed advantage on the killer since he has to move in a wider arc than you do. I see a lot of survivors afraid to touch walls and they're easier to catch.
Run perks that fit your playstyle, not "meta" perks. If you know you have a habit of self caring in a corner, run Botany Knowledge. If you know you have a habit of going for unsafe saves, run Borrowed Time. If you run Adrenaline but never make it to full gen completion, then you ran the whole game with 3 perks. Think about how you play and build on your strengths.
Wake up/Spine chill is underrated for doors.
Stop hiding. Always be doing something that generates points. Sit on a gen until the killer picks you to chase. You get points for being in a chase. At the start of the match all pallets are up and it's easy to plan your routes. You want to be chased first. Better you than Meg who tosses the pallets down instantly to build a fort.
-
There's always gonna be tons of people we never hear from. I just forum crawl because I like to be social. I play this game with other games sure, but I've never had a day where I was like 'why did I play this'. I already have all the achievements except like five though so I literally just load up the game for bloodpoints and memes.
-
It's a game against other players fam, and with window blockers, no double pallets etc it has gotten easier for the killer than it used to be. Just roll with the punches. It'll come.

Does anyone actually "regularly" use Iridescent add-ons? They're so expensive and in such short supply that I tend to save them for special occasions and not for the average match.
But yeah, Deathslinger's iri's are pretty mediocre. I tried to make his Coin work for a while, but its effect tended to not activate (even when I was certain I caught a survivor far enough away) so I ultimately ditched it out of frustration.
I do on my P3 Trapper. When I am overflowing with bloodpoints I pour them into him til I even out at about 750,000 and over time he's gotten a ton of bloody coils and iri stones plus a ton of black wards. My traps either stay open or you get hurt for disarming them. If I say no you can't go there this game...then you can't go there.
...but I also rotate through my library of other killers and I'm still chewing through their basic add ons.
-
As far as I know you can @ them on the official forums, but they operate under the philosophy that if they tell you something and don't do it, you'll be upset that it didn't happen so they don't want to tell you something's coming until it's actually done.
I mean, you can go to their offices in person but I think they're all closed due to COVID. To be honest I think at the moment their communication is scattered/only through emails so they don't know what's going on either.
-
Isn't the ugly sweater what she comes with as default?
-
-
You have to be on a generator and complete it. By which I mean if it's 99% done by someone else and you come up and complete it, you get the score point for it. Unhook and totem is self explanatory. If you do finalize a generator I'm not sure what's going on.
-
The one that gives survivors exposed has to be used with the purple add on that makes your line harder to break.
The branding iron gives you information that's near impossible to use and for all intents and purposes is better as a brown add on but here we are.
-
Take a break. I do. Alternatively become that which you hate.

Thank you for all the answers, guys!
I guess I never realized how nasty her Passive Phasing can be when playing as a Survivor. I've honestly never played a good Spirit but my Survivor experience is very limited, as in I just started playing that side in the past few weeks. I'm going to have to do some experimenting with her to see if I can play her well because when I do play her (for Dailies and Tomes) I never do well but I think I've been using her completely the wrong way.
**One last question...**
Is there any streamers or specific videos someone could point me to, so I can see high-level Spirit gameplay in action?
Go to his channel, go to videos and hit CTRL+F and type in Spirit. He plays all sorts of killers but you can get some really good info off of him.
-
Is breddy gud gaem
-
I'm kind of scared of something like this though. They're trying to make it in a horror game and it's just Sesame Street with red paint on occasion. Can you imagine Dwight drenched in Hawaiian punch? That's terrible. People might get scared :(
-
It works. As far as using it in an actual match....eh.
-
He's lucky the caged survivor didn't have dead hard. They avoided the first one.
-
You can spend a lot of time searching an area for survivors when Whispers is lit up and come up empty handed. On the other hand, it can tell you when there's no one in the area so you wont search an area you may think someone is.
-
As much as I love the idea behind the perk, in practice it's just too limited. Cruelly so. It's unusable in its current form.
-
Why not both?
-
There's a challenge in Tome 2 where you have to escape through the hatch with a key for Jane's story. Now I've got keys. I've got escapes. I just can't put the two together to save my life. I do not like this one.

Kaplan also said that with OW2 he wants to take Overwatch less "moba" and more "FPS."
The issue I have is that the "Moba" elements sold the game for a lot of folks. The market is flooded with FPS with powers. I could go play Apex Legends or Valorant or Hyper Scape or Rogue Company, or even several other options.
The core issue is, he stated that he considers Hog to be the benchmark for where he would like tanks to go. So . . . DPS with inflated HP pools?
What is the development vision for Overwatch anymore? Ironically, it's the same question we're now asking of DbD, too.
He's making the same mistake EverQuest did with EverQuest 2. No matter what he does he's gonna split the playerbase and neither game is going to come out better for it. If he wants to make a fps make a new IP or regret it.
-
I enjoy Trapper. When I'm playing seriously I'll sit down with him and pop on an ultra rare and a bag. Deathslinger is up there too. Some days you just wanna shoot survivors and he does what it says on the tin.
Really though there's little more satisfying in this game than chasing a survivor into an area you've trapped all to hell and you know they're dead and haven't realized it yet.
-
What else am I supposed to do with my life if I don't complain about crossplay though?
It's what I live for.
