but playing with friends in dbd bad I shall shame you and berate you for doing so

Lel. My imagination jumped to Shadows of Mordor's orc shaming mechanic. Just grab an SWF survivor by the face and shame them, decreasing their rank.

Solo queue does bring about how this game was originally envisioned to be played and I'm always going to recommend it. I'm too finicky about my play time and I'm usually the third or fourth survivor out of a losing match. Not too sure my team mate would ever enjoy that for more than an hour.

  • Back when the game was new there was no survive with friends option and survivors would enter and exit lobbies until they found their friends and a lot of people were vocal about wanting a survive with friends feature. People were going to find each other anyway. (Game population wasn't nearly as big, its just the way it was.)

That's why it's here. It wasn't really a game balance thing. It was an inevitability. I don't think this game was ever supposed to be taken competitively anyway. It was just cheeky slasher hide and seek. Winning and losing were kinda after thoughts.

  • I just mess around. I had a really great game today against a Demogorgon where all four of us survived and opened the exit gates and just messed around until the end game collapse timer killed us all.

Another we just had people messing around on Ormond but I was trying to do rift junk so I just played normally.

If it's a sweat game or I can't find a generator I just get into a chase. I'll either die and move on to the next game or my shenanigans will occupy the killer until the gens get done.

If I'm playing as killer unless I'm trying to do something very specific I generally play with my food and try my best to get 12 hooks and 12 chases. If you die that's usually your own fault. I'm just messing around.

  • I don't know how much freedom they have as far as altering a licensed map goes, but you know on Haddonfield where it has the flickering light bulbs where gens aren't done?

RPD needs something like that. If it does have them, it's not noticeable enough.

  • The game would look so much different if we didn't have Myers. He's a relic of the game in the past in a lot of ways (tombstone, etc) but I like a lot of what this game was and I think a lot of other people do too.

There's a reason you don't see people with the ign "Mori me Wraith". Nope. It's "Mori me Myers" for a reason.

  • My favorite is Tofu, and I'm kinda sad Tofu didn't get added as a survivor. As a horror game it's important to maintain an aura of grim, gritty seriousness and Tofu encapsulates all that makes horror great.

Only Tofu can escape the chopsticks of the Entity.

  • I really enjoy playing Plague, but on survivor I run very strong healing-centric builds so I'm pretty much perkless when vs. Plague.

I get knocked out of corrupt by getting bonked by a pallet too surprisingly often, but disabling the survivor sprint on getting hit and just downing someone by staying on them for a few seconds is so strong. It's great.

Not a great killer to pip with, but great fun to play if cartoon vomit doesn't squick you out.

  • Tierlist.png

My list might catch people off guard so I'll explain a bit.

I'm a Trapper and (sorta) Nurse main. If I'm playing them I'm running really strong add ons and have a few years of experience behind them. They're fun for me, but not so much the survivors.

Spirit is D tier because I'm severely deaf and she relies on hearing. I love her concept but I can't play her at a high level.

I really enjoy killers that just keep on going and stay in the action, but depending on how a passive killer is set up I can find fun in them, but I don't prefer them.

I can threaten a purple rank 4 man with any killer, but I think everyone has more fun if I'm playing S through B. (In my opinion.)

  • I'm gonna say I'd be down for Jake in a Hillbilly cosmetic. Both outdoorsmen, you know?

  • I think Steam's down. It has always been a Tuesday thing where Steam throws a fit so I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest.

  • They do need to do more with her. It has been years.

  • Despite maining and self-inserting as Dweet for almost five years now, I'm gonna pick Felix. I'm active in the arts and into the occult and judging from Elodie, Felix is into that jazz too. He's the best match for a best buddy.

  • I always do horrible when I play Demogorgon, and I'm not sure what it is. My basic M1 game is fine, and his pounce does work occasionally but I mainly use it to make survivors break into 'evasive mode'. Portals are good, but...end game results usually aren't that hot compared to say my Trapper games where I shut down everything and walk all over people.

I don't face him often but I feel like when I'm the survivor they have a lot of trouble locking people down so it's not just me. Not sure what they could do but I wouldn't bat an eye (with Trickster in the literal sense, as it would gross up my bat) if they buffed him a tad.

  • I got lucky with Dwight and Trapper, but I had to change my Dwight from shades and a vest to Vigos with a preppy cap. I don't want Dwight to be scared. He's the fearless leader. His cosmetics say so sometimes.

  • Let me simplify ranking up for ya. Red ranks is really simple with 3 easy steps.

    1. Use Borrowed Time. You need to safely unhook at least one person per match. Two is better.
    2. Get on a generator. If you are idle, you're not ready for red ranks. The only time you should be idle is if you're trying not to be spotted by the killer.
    3. Don't go down within a few seconds of starting a chase. I don't care if the killer can one shot you, or is spirit. Learn how to loop tiles. My worse chases average thirty seconds minimum assuming I start them at full health.

This is still and always will be my favorite Feng. Gone too soon. Never forget.

out of curiosity. do they respawn after you fail them?

I activated two yellow glyphs while in chase with the killer because I'm me and after I got hit and downed I went back and the glyph wasn't there so maybe it moves, but I completed the challenge and can't fiddle with it anymore.

  • Run Dejavu and work on one of the three generators it highlights. Those are high killer patrol areas, later in the match. If you don't get the killer on you doing that then he's either being looped by a really great runner or has very poor map sense, in which case its low ranks and you don't need a dedicated runner.

  • My theory is that Trickster is showboating and not actually hitting the survivor with his knives until the 6th one, for pizzazz purposes. Like, 5 close shaves and then an actual knife throw.

Meme answer: As long as nobody throws more than 5 knives at me in real life I can just shrug it off. It's pretty realistic that way. Six knives though? I'm gonna need stitches.

  • He just had a better gamer chair. I know it's hard to admit when you've been outplayed but that was pure skill.

    no one supports me?

    I'll support you friend.

  • I had to unequip his sunglasses because his eyebrows show fear. The sunglasses were there to cover up the scare and frighten.

Now he has a preppy cap and Vigo's outfit. He's much better now. The preppy cap still strikes fear into the older killers and with the Vigo shorts I ALWAYS have multiple keys. ALWAYS.

  • I prefer Lightborn. You don't have to hit the survivor and there's no tell that you have it until they're going in for the save. I get a lot of hits on people that are just waiting for the blind.

New to the party is the blast mine and flash bang. Cheeky Jill wanna blast you? Well it didn't work and you can see her aura for 10 seconds. Good job Jill.

Franklins backfired on me once and I dropped the perk permanently. I hit a survivor that had a flashlight and downed him, but another survivor grabbed that flashlight and saved the original survivor with his flashlight. It doesn't even delete items anymore and that survivor that has his key dropped is going to run built to last and regenerate charges when he needs them for the hatch. The only real punished player is medkit users which might be enough, but eh.

  • Soul Guard when I'm playing my main survivor. It's not even for the unbreakable. If you've ever recovered to full and been picked up by a survivor just to be slapped down again a second later you know darn well why I like this perk so much.

  • I play Ghostface a bit weird. I play like he's a normal M1 killer but when stealth is off cooldown I activate it. If a survivor spots me killer's instinct shows me where they are. I very rarely use his stalk ability.

I also stealth in chases since stealthing hides your red glow. Normally I'll wait until I'm out of line of sight and instead of mindgaming the survivor I'll just stealth and run straight at them. Like a very aggressive Myers.

  • I want a blind killer that just has a pitch black screen until he moves and then the environment lights up in a sort of echolocation sort of way.

The killer would move extra fast and be extra devastating but if a survivor stands perfectly still the killer can't find them unless they're injured.

Generators being worked on light up the area very well btw. Let's do it.

  • Think of Killer as the warrior role in DbD. You pick up your weapon and go smash.

Think of Survivor as the wizard role in DbD. You learn your spells. At the start you don't know any spells, but at Rank 1 you have a full spellbook and can root and devastate the warrior. What changed? Nothing physically. You just got your spells.

There are old wizards. There are bold wizards, but there are no old, bold wizards.

  • Generally when I load in as killer there's an ominous wind blowing in the darkness. To my right, hallways. To my left, more of the same.

As I search the empty halls, I hear a familiar sound. The sound of a generator being fully completed. A generator already? I ask to myself.

    Click click.

    Click click.

    This...this is a SWF...isn't it?

    Click click.

  • Just pick up the survivor and carry them in your pocket. Like a kangaroo carries around a little joey.

Gosh. No more discomfort. No more struggles.

  • True newbie killers will stick it out because they don't have the ego built up that says this is unacceptable. They'll get you eventually and probably face camp you though.

It's generally middle of the road killers that do that. They're experienced enough to know you're trouble but not experienced enough to know how to handle you so they get frustrated enough to make silly decisions.

  • At the start of every match I tap a gen to check for Ruin. If you dropped chase with me you'd get me on a gen making hundreds of noise notification checks every second. It'll be your new killer chase theme.

    BOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOMBOOM

Let's do it. Hex: Killer Deaf

Um...Isn't lery's the place where the doctor performed Shock experiments? If it is then am I the only one that finds a slight humor in the title of this topic?

I was thinking this and came in here to make a post alluding to it. We all go a little crazy on that map.

  • I've been 7 genned before. 4 Kills 5 gens left to do. No escape.

  • This game has a perk called Shadowborn and Monitor and Abuse that changes your FOV, it's restricted on purpose. You also don't see like a foot in front of you because when the game first started you could clip into lockers and see if a survivor was inside without opening it.

In the main menu it should tell you the estimated queue times for survivor and killer.

You should be able to manually block doorways or windows while not in a chase. Just collapse them for a minute or two so you're rewarded for being able to predict the survivors at the cost of spending a few seconds, likewise I'd like if survivors could place tripwire in doorways to trip up killers.

    Trapper main btw.

  • It's easier for a woman to dress up as a lithe male. Just put some tape on your chest and male clothing isn't that hard to pull off.

I have a beard and a thick mustache. I am never, ever in a million years looking like Meg. I could pull off an Observer cosplay though.

  • Authors are typically the victim, not the killer. Remember Misery by Stephen King? Monika is just trying to escape the fact she's in a video game, and the weird effects are Monika trying to figure things out on her end. That said, I'm more than a little amused that people want to be chased around by a booknerd. Heh.

  • I usually use Nurses, Starstruck, Devour and Ruin and I try to look for the healing silhouettes when choosing where to hook someone.

If the totems go down, the two perks I have left are usually enough but if the totems stay up then I get to have a little fun.

  • It's kind of funny because killer starting out is easier to do. You don't start hitting moderate challenges til Rank 15 now I think?

If I had to guess it's because people wanna play the pretty survivor. Simple as.

  • One day you will learn that all journalism nowadays is a glorified twitter post with a picture attached to it. Not just this article, but the whole industry because if you publish something that someone in power doesn't like it gets X'd. So we end up with this. (Nice future we're building together btw.)

I remember one time there being a Cuphead game critic that couldn't beat the tutorial level, but I'll give this one credit. You can tell by the fact they're the only survivor and the HUD is in the old style yet they have cosmetics from the shop that this screenshot is a few years old. They made a private game and loaded into the map, got the survivor hit and gave it the thumbs up.

    Bravo. Bravo.

  • This game has a ton of chapters but not one literary killer. As a big champion of the arts I have to say I'm kind of surprised by that.

That said Monika just realizes she's stuck in a game and wants to get out. She'd fit more as a survivor with her theme (but get zero altruism emblem if you catch my meaning). The other girls are just video game characters in that universe. Monika self actualizes and it causes the games events. That's why nobody else agrees with the idea. None of the literary girls are malicious despite the dark tones.

A killer that works out of a book and warps the Entity's reality to his own will might be cool though kind of building off the DDLC idea. Right click and the killer scribbles in his book and blocks a doorway or vault, or heck just puts a wall in the middle of nowhere. Alternate ability is firing a barrage of quills shotgun style from his book. M1 is a big slap with an elephantine grimoire. If you're feeling really fancy another alternate ability could be conjuring slow moving yet ricocheting projectiles. L T walls would be really dangerous.

I dunno. There's a lot they could do. It'd be cool to have another talking killer doing that. "Interesting." "I see." "How did that work out for you." "Maybe you should have stayed inside and studied." "How dare you slam that...argh." "Insolent..." etc.

Edit: Mori could be shrinking you down to a few inches tall, picking the survivor up and looking them over in disgust before dropping them in the book and closing it with a snap.

  • Ability for a survivor to draw a smiley face in the Hag's triangle to disable it when?

  • Do: Run Self Care with no speed boosting perks. Heal on top of hills to establish dominance. Run against the walls of buildings like the shack or edge barriers of the trial to leave a very glorious trail of scratch marks even more visible than normal scratch marks. If you do decide to play injured, make sure to go for hook saves even if you have to trade. It'll always work out for you. Being slugged on the ground counters ALL killer perks except for Knockout. It's very powerful.

Don't: Do generators. They smell bad. Don't run Borrowed Time when going for hook saves. Make sure you do it unsafely at all times. Always run. Stealth is useless. A killer in a chase is more useful than a killer not in chase checking lockers and looking for you, but if it looks like he's going to find you don't go ahead and start holding W, make sure you let the killer hit you for a sprint burst so you can get away faster! Afterwards, follow the "Do" advice to get ahead. Make sure not to do meme perks. You need to be a predictable survivor. Always do the meta so the killer knows how to handle you!

    Thanks and have fun!

I understand. I just played a Game as Legion. When the Surivors just Move around it takes up so much time to concentrate and get a Hit. Wouldnt even be so Bad if it wasnt for that 4 SECOND FATIGUE. Wich is longer then NURSES the STRONGEST KILLER IN THE GAME.

im sorry i just had to say it.

I agree. Survivors moving around is my #1 problem when it comes to sacrificing them. They just won't stop.

I'm honestly surprised more corn-like objects haven't been used like say branches or other obscura in the trials. Maybe it's a performance issue?

  • I dunno man. In the tutorial I was repairing a generator and a bleeding survivor came up to me and started teabagging until I healed him.

An AI can click a flashlight with an uncanny precision.

  • I have a P3 Killer and Survivor, but I pour excess blood points into my P3 Killer, Trapper. He has hundreds of ultra rare add ons and a lot of Black Wards. He requires map knowledge, which is something I'm pretty confident in having and if I'm on my Trapper you're gonna lose a few survivors that round.

I play a lot of my characters in rotation and only Prestige them when they're out of add ons and items, which means I'm constantly draining my other characters til they hit that magical day. Dwight and Trapper come out when I'm doing something important where I need to tryhard.

  • I like Agitation, Mad Grit, I'm All Ears and Starstruck.

As soon as you pick up a survivor start swinging your weapon. It's funny.

  • If the standoff last for more than 5 minutes I always ended it either as survivor or killer. I've never been invested enough in a trial where I had to beat the hatch.

However I will say grabbing people out of the hatch needs to come back. Taking that away wasn't cool, man.

Oh man I love the entire story arc of Heather. I could talk about it all day and still not be out of things to bring up. The cool thing about Silent Hill is that despite the fact that Silent Hill 3 brings back the cult it still has a lot of influences from Silent Hill 2 in the concept that the town is a living entity that has a will of its own.

    (Spoiler alert.)

With that in mind Heather is a 17 year old girl, with a lot of the cliches and tropes of women that age alongside it. She's in a spot where she's mature enough to act as an adult, but still young enough that she still desires independence, yet still depends on her father for emotional supports. Heather also gets these wild bursts of emotion and acts impulsively. In other words, at the time this game was released she was an atypical horror protagonist especially when it came to video game horror. When I first played Silent Hill 3 I too was a young girl, and Heather seemed a character I could relate to (And at the time I thought she seemed way more adult than me. As an adult I realize how immature she really is.)

When her Father dies she resorts to rage and a desire for revenge, even when she's offered a breadcrumb trail about being told the circumstances of her birth she disregards all of that because she doesn't need all these adults trying to get in her head. At her core, she's a woman at the most confusing point of her life and she's trying to understand what is going on as the entire world is collapsing all around her.

Even the town takes some malicious glee in tormenting her as a teenager. Showing her distorted images of herself, getting letters from 'stalkers' or unwanted calls from strangers, and even the theme of the cult (Trying to forcibly impregnate her) are very real fears that could apply to anyone at a point in Heather's but magnified tenfold. She doesn't know who she can trust, the only family she knows is dead, and she still manages to fight these literal monsters from hell, cut through the bullshit of a cult that drank way too much kool-aid, gain inner strength from her own resolve, kill a literal god (that she was forced to birth, even if Claudia finished it) and still move on with her life with the only adult she learned she could trust through all of this (Douglas.) She is a very strong and likeable character not only despite her flaws but also because of them.

I'm surprised that PTSD was not in her storyline in the DBD 'After Silent Hill' Lore, and instead she turned to help people. It seems a bit uncharacteristic of her to want to help others, but to be fair we don't really know that side of her since they really didn't make character models of people who weren't severely plot relevant (Silent Hill does love their limited cast) and there wasn't a lot of time to get to know her. At the start she's running from a man she doesn't know who said he's been following her, then monsters form, then her father gets brutally murdered by the cult.

That sounds pretty cool. I've messed around with the Silent Hill games but as you're probably very aware the games can be really cryptic. You've given me a bit more appreciation for Heather, I appreciate you typing all that out for me!
