  • I liked it a lot. Survivors should scream like that, they have a hook going through their chest/neck/forehead depending on how feature filled the current patch is. The original survivors are screaming, wailing or saying 'noooooooo!' so it makes sense that they're quiet-ish, but some survivors are just like oh. I've been punctured. Impaled to completeness. How inconvenient. I say dear Blight is the tea almost ready?

  • Honestly when I first saw Cheryl since I'm not too familiar with her series was 'she has a white shirt, she's going to be easy to spot if I play her' but you know my games with Cheryl are alright. She's a good bean. I'd probably buy the Alessa Gillespie cosmetic if I were to main her though. The character sounds ominous but she's cute and can be a sneaky sneak if needed.

Another question: is there any kind of necessity to talk smack? Is this some kind of basic need for people? An ego boost for people that win or don't like to lose in a video game?

Serious answer: Tilting your opponent or taunting them can upset them and make them play worse, netting you an overall advantage. When gaming was a niche hobby til about late 90s early 00s and we were playing Quake deathmatches or Team Fortress 2 taunts were actual things you could do in games. The tradition is still kept as a joke in some first person shooters nowadays in the form of dances. It's an inoffensive shell of what it used to be.

    Meme answer:

    Ye lol

  • I can't believe that player typed that word in chat. Oh noes.

  • You can do some big brain stuff with Wraith don't get me wrong, but at base Wraith is a very brainless killer. Zoom around the map until you find the survivor, uncloak and hit survivor then do it again until you win. Make sure to use your invisibility to never leave the hook and it's very easy to see why it's appealing. Out of the five (or seven on consoles) free killers he is the easiest to use.

I don't find it satisfying to win as Wraith though. I'd much rather down someone as Trapper and have the person coming in for the flashlight save step in a trap. This game has so many kino moments you miss when the survivors can't see or interact with you outside of the chase.

  • I play nice and do meme builds because I already got a majority of the achievements. Rank 1 means nothing to me. I gain nothing from winning. Why would I want to please the Entity? What's that killer going to do? Kill me?

I get a lot of fun out of this game by messing around. I don't mess around TOO much because a lot of survivors at high ranks queue up to get their mettle tested and expect you to press on them but I'll drop into memes at the drop of a hat.

  • It would explain why we see a lot of Doc and Feng (and sometimes Ace) I guess we can consider them as part of the OG collective now.

I paid money for them. Like, almost twenty bucks total. That's enough to buy two people a fast food meal. Perhaps through my purchases I have solved world hunger. I get virtual person in video game and they get a happy meal.

I guess that means you guys don't have to spend as many iri shards before you start turning perks into bloodpoints.

  • Eaaaaaaaaasy fix my dude.

  • 110% easy fix.

  • Every time I create a meme build and end up vsing a team that completely counters it in every way. It only usually last one match but it happens often enough to raise an eyebrow.

  • I'm gonna be weird but there's a christmas one for survivors that just looks like a reindeer and I think it's cute.

I've tried to get a few friends into DbD. It's all fun and games until they angrily ask me why they got insta-downed when the last gen was powered lol... At least for the new players I've tried to introduce, NOED is their biggest gripe. Such a hindrance to the new survivor/player experience, even though it's aimed for the new killer experience.

NOED has been through a lot of changes, before totems were introduced it was permanent and then it was like, something that just flat lasted for 3 minutes before finally getting tied to a totem, but it's also from an era where you could Mori someone the first time they were downed and Entity window blockers didn't exist. The survivor perk Hope still has its timed speed boost.

It scares survivors. They don't want to look for the totem. It's just zip out the gates the moment you see that exposed icon, because you know the killer isn't leaving 24 meters of that hook.

I think it really comes down to expectations nowadays. Before Myers/other big names got added nobody cared. Huntress was hyped up as a free killer and we all thought that was going to be the precedent. We cheered for Ruin in the shrine. You couldn't get to red ranks without being able to hit greats because there weren't enough event scores to bump you past the threshold sometimes.

Now everyone HAS to get points for the BIG grind. 2 survivors HAVE to escape for balance. You can't wear black clothes and play a dark map offering. People EXPECT to be hooked 3 times. (By which I mean you could go entire games without being seen by the killer and if he stuck on you then you could loop him forever. Then Bloodlust was added.)

So a new survivor sees all this and has these expectations for the game and the old clashes with the new. I've always found NOED to be a letdown personally because it's a plan for failure perk. I'm down a perk that could have helped me prevent end game from even happening.

BBQ is for the grind because we all know killers have no incentive to leave the hook, and Ruin is well, Ruin. You know when the game first started you couldn't even kick generators. Now regression has been a big thing for a long time.

Killers and survivors have been nerfed a lot, but people still stick with the old guard tried and true. Wonder why that is.

  • 1626282086662.jpg

Just get a pocket Meg. They'll make you feel better and take all the blame for things. Sure they might blow up your generator occasionally but you know you have to take the good with the bad.

  • E6RoC6lWYAAbd6p.jpg

New survivor experience is great, what are you talking about? Wouldn't you want to face NOED Wraiths and Doctors all day? (Low rank huntress is fine. They can't aim.)

At least when facing Wraith as a new survivor your games are quick since once you get hooked you only have about ~2 minutes in the game left anyway.

  • Exit gates do not count as an escape either. Neither does death.

    Death is not an escape.

  • When I use bloody coil on Trapper the traps are bloodstained. I think it started with the model revamp but there has been no official news and I've not really had a reason to chitter chat about it.

It's cool if the traps give an indication of what add ons Trapper is using though. It'd give a savvy survivor a chance to get up close and look at them.

    A little closer.

    There ya go.

  • I usually have very friendly postgame chats. I've never figured out how you guys raise so much salt.

Back in like Year 2 of the game I killed a survivor and he was really angy so I just talked with him for a while and asked him how his day was and stuff. We're still steam friends. Do we talk anymore? No, but they're on the friends list. Woo. That's kinda weird right?

  • If you're playing for rank and want to buff your Benevolent Emblem consistently, run Borrowed Time.

But yeah tell your team to stop getting hooked. They shouldn't want that to happen anyway.

  • There used to be a whole forum-wide celebration when Ruin would show up in the shrine because nobody wanted to buy Hag.

    I'm serious.

  • I was using Lightborn on my Hillbilly the last few nights because why not and it certainly disables flashlight squads like it always has real good.

I have no idea why people like Franklin's so much unless it's to knock a key out of someone's hand (that they'll immediately just hide somewhere) since you still have to M1 them. Lightborn is free and has always been a stellar choice while working at all times.

It does feel kinda funny to walk towards someone who is beaming you and getting a free hit, but the aura reading is killer.

  • I joined this forum because when it was new they bribed people to make accounts and if you got lucky you'd get Auric Cells!

    I didn't get lucky.

You guys tolerate me here, congrats me after I kill your survivor and gg me when I escape when playing my survivor. Kinda weird if you think about it, but it's good fun.

  • I just got bored of the grind and stopped using perks altogether. It's so much better.

  • Make sure you're hooked multiple times to take full advantage of all Resurgence has to offer.

I've always divided perks into two groups. Plan for failure or plan for success. This falls into the former category. It's a good perk, but if you planned on succeeding you'd be the rescuer and be running We'll Make it. You know?

It's really solid if you're learning the game, along with a lot of other perks. Nothing wrong with it, save for the fact I get less Altruism from healing you after the unhook.

  • I'm a big fan of Trapper's P3 mask. I hate most killer P1 weapons though. It's the same as the default weapon with a gif of blood dripping down playing over and over again.

    I mean it's not BAD but...thanks.

  • I generally prefer edutainment. I want to see a match play out but I also want to learn how and why things are done, see how other people are doing things different from what I would do. Pick up some neat tricks on occasion from a personality I like.

TrU3Ta1ent and Gawr Gura Ch. hololive-EN are pretty good, the latter isn't dedicated to just Dead by Daylight though and if you haven't seen one or the other they're both worth checking out. TrU3 really scratches my analytical itch but just seeing killer through the eyes of someone that's just playing the game fresh and not doing a gimmicky build can be really useful for my own games.

If I'm playing the game I like 10-15 minute videos and I'll usually tab out and watch them while I'm in queue and pause when necessary. If I'm watching a stream and it doesn't have a lot of visual gags you can just listen to them like a podcast until you're ready to look back at the screen. Definitely not a fan of the screechers. I get that they have their appeal but if you're not watching the screen and someone's going 'HUWHAT!? WAT!? WOOOW.' and you tab in and the moment has passed then...bleh.

I'm mixed on what kind of streams I like with a bias towards killer content. I can watch other survivors in game but when I'm playing survivor I can only see the killer when I'm going toe to toe with him. You don't see a whole lot of the wandering and such. Seeing new and experienced killers and watching how they play gives me an idea of what to expect and look for when I get people interrupting my skillcheck simulator.

I can't say I've ever clicked on a video because of its thumbnail, since I'm really just there for the content therein but a cute thumbnail can set the mood. Put you at ease for the slaughterfest you're about to watch. You know, just Dbd things.

  • We should give the Nurse an AK-47.

No changes to blinks or whatever, keep all that the same. Nurse blinks twice, misses her swing and pulls out the blat blat.

  • Crouching in a bush moderately/considerably/tremendously increases the chance of the killer going after you first.

No more hiding in the bush and being immersed Claudette onto the generator you go.

  • Wait til you see Ace's new smile.

  • I bodyblock when I get BT off the hook all the time. Sprint Burst + Killer weapon wipe animation lock? If you go after me I usually have a route planned and if you go after the unhooker they have a health state they wouldn't have otherwise. If you do manage to tunnel me I get a free ticket to a different trial. You really can't lose.

  • I've had survivors get mad at me for not pressing hard and killing them. It sounds counter intuitive I know but a lot of them are there for the sole purpose of challenging you so meme with discretion.

As survivor I like exploring the map. There are days I just want to sit on the generator and not be bothered but it's nice to go into familiar buildings and see if a totem is up or where the gen spawned this time. Since a lot of things are static it's cool to be able to make your trials routine with a few odds and ends. Some days though especially if survivor queues are very fast I purposely go out to be the runner and just torment the killers with flashlights all night.

As Killer it's nice to not have to do skillchecks and get in survivor's heads. The Killer abilities keep it fresh and I find if I'm not rotating my killers I'll get absorbed into one killer and just play it for hours. 115% M1 skills transfer between most killers so if for some reason my power isn't working out I can just default to what I know. Games are usually chill for me but there are games I still get blindsided if I don't apply massive amounts of pressure.

  • Honestly I think it'd be a prime opportunity to inject a lot of horror into this game. Desync the model from the person playing the killer during phase and while the killer can't see it, the Spirit's model should bolt after nearby survivors for no other purpose than to disorient and scare the survivors.

  • It's easy for me to be like hey just do the gens, pick up the crown and escape through the door, I know.

When I did survivor crowns I didn't even bother looking for the crowns until there were two gens left unless I naturally ran across it. Three of them was a last second yoink during end game collapse.

  • Every match I charge at the Nemesis and get infected just so I can take more vaccines. Every trial, every single vaccine. I can see beyond colors, and I feel like I am mutating into something more.

The Blight handed me a walking cane and threw a large beach towel over me. I have no idea what's going on anymore but I can run really fast if I bump into things.

holy heck, you've got them all already?!

You've put in a lot of hours in this Event for sure. I've not managed to get them all myself yet, I've not had the time to play much...I need to take a day off work just to play DbD at this point lol.

Hahaha, I really only have like one day off a week to play so last week I did Killer, and tonight/today I did all my survivors. It is now 8AM here and I'm going to sleep til 2PM, do some errands/mess around, then at 10PM write and internet til bedtime.

It's your guys fault for having such a fun game really.

I'm checking into this today - am not sure which way that will be addressed yet. I suspect it will be unlocked for those that have the Crown on Frank already, but I need confirmation on this naturally. As soon as I know something for sure, I will let you know.

Appreciated. I just logged in and butchered a group of survivors on Susie hoping for the unlock to no avail. I still just have Frank.

It's the last one. I have all crowns on all survivors and killers this year. I have done my part.

  • Whats bad is as survivor the hum will get stuck in your head and if you're doing consecutive games you always have the hum going and it really throws you off.

  • Some place campsite be good. Many situation of high altruism. Unfun for one but sometimes right play.

Most times waste of time. You find survivor you expect to run in and that's game over. Better strategy. Who need campfire when have BBQ and Chili.

  • It's a pretty cool perk for early pressure. I usually just walk to the opposite side of the map when I spawn in and I probably miss a lot of people that spawn just on the edge of my terror radius.

Lethal Pursuer / Corrupt Intervention / Zanshin Tactics / I'm All Ears might work for a meme build. Hmm.

You're basically playing with your base kit and down two perks two minutes into the match but who knows, maybe that early start is all you need.

  • I kind of miss the pure white screen you used to get and you'd stare at the white screen hoping for a glimpse of the survivor you were chasing. It was especially awesome in dark rooms.

Also there was that one patch where if you flashlighted the killer at any point of the pickup animation he'd drop the survivor at the end of the animation. We could do that again. That'd be cool.

Haha, shelter woods and dead dawg are my enemies, you don't want a twins map?

Being a Gemini myself I sort of have a soft spot for the Twins thematically, but all we really have to go off of with them is they're French and from the 17th century. They were experimented on in a temple so...hmm.

    c0bbbcddb91fbc99a1343c0052958727.jpg

Maybe if the art team could make a map out of that. It'd be a city map with breakable walls for some doors while Entity claws break some of the house walls to make the map playable. Like...Haddonfield but with less Strode House and more buildings. Also more French.

    Hon hon hon.

Edit: Actually give the area some backwoods too with a spot where you'd burn witches at the stake. That'd be kinda heavy but cool.

  • They both need maps. Trickster could be a studio and Blight could be a research area with lots of plant/entity/pustula flowers all over the place. Make it a nightmare.

Between the two I'd want a Trickster map with a stage in the middle with a generator in the middle of the stage while the rest of the map is offices and maybe the parking lot out front. That'd be cool.

The more maps we have, the less chance I have of getting Shelter Woods.

I know that's a completely new mechanic for them to design and all but that sounds actually really amazing. Using it to flush people out or find them would be an interesting twist, reminds me of utilizing the zombies to find people. It doesn't feel like a huge amount of killers have any type of base kit detection now that I think about it...

The way I see it OP is right. This is an ability they would activate probably halfway into the trial or late game, and only get one real shot to do it. Showing everyone's auras, giving them a spotlight cue saying 'hey, Trickster has you in his sights. Run or die.' while Trickster has no movement penalty and is auto firing should be enough to turn the tide of a game.

It's called Main Event, not side show. Ya know?

  • There is no way to save main event. It sounds cool in theory but the execution just does not work in this game.

If they really want to help Trickster, give him something else entirely for the main event. Put a spotlight on survivors/aura reading so they can't hide, or something.

  • I've never forgotten Carl.

Death is not an escape Carl, but it is an escape from the drudgery of a cash register job.

  • I find the zombies useful and fun when playing as killer because of their white aura, but a zombie actually saved me last night. I was looping the Rancid Abbatoir cow gate place thing and a zombie had blocked the way from where the gen is to the long hallway with the hanging cows right? (Of course I didn't realize the zombie was blocking the path until it infected me because I was on autopilot)

The Nemesis had saw what I was trying to do and wasn't following behind me and didn't realize I had gotten hit so he was curving around the building to cut me off but the zombie forced me to go the other way. Didn't see that Nemesis again for like, 4 minutes. Thanks zombie.

  • At that point the usual expectation is you're just playing for bloodpoints at that juncture.

Something that tickles me about survivors is if you spare the last survivor I've had spectators complain in the post game chat, and if I meme around too much they want me to go at them harder. If I say sorry they want me to be mean.

I'm a very mobile killer and find camping very tedious and boring so I never have to deal with the negative fallout from that but I can just imagine the person on the other end of the screen screaming at me to beat them harder.

  • Self Care. Red Rank Survivor and Killer btw.

I can play without it, but then I end up running another healing perk like Inner Strength or Bond to find people etc. Why do that though when you can establish dominance by healing on top of hills?

  • When the game came out I just liked the idea of hunting down and killing people. It really goes no deeper than that. Then the game ended up doing well and they ended up adding all these bells and whistles and all sorts of things.

Games don't really take that long and you get to hunt down and kill people. They're all proud of their perks and charms and they want to escape through the exit gates and celebrate and be happy...

...up on the hook ya go!

  • It's a homage to the Resident Evil games that say "Resident Evil" when you boot them up.

It'll be gone next chapter, don't worry.

  • There are spelling errors in some of them. I've found two so far.
