  • That happened to me on Hag. Twice. My goals tonight aren't even to kill anyone it's to find these darn pedestals and if a survivor gets in my way then I need to eliminate the competition for said pedestals.

On one hand I'm glad they move if someone can't find them, but to have them vanish in front of you kinda sours the milk.

  • I'm trying to figure this out myself. To my understanding if nobody touches a crown pedestal for a while it despawns and respawns somewhere else. A survivor or killer interacting with it also despawns it and respawns it somewhere else. I don't think there's a cap on it spawns but I haven't figured it out for sure yet.

  • I did survivor crowns last year so this year I'm doing killer side. If I have gotten the crown on the killer I'm playing, then I let all crown carrying survivors escape through the exit doors and kill the rest.

If I can't find the crown then they stole the crown I was looking for and they must die.

  • Would you believe I use pop all the time and just now moused over it and noticed that?

All this sacrificing is making me senile.

  • RPD is a wonderful playground for the Trapper, like comically so. However for everyone that isn't Trapper it's a maze.

You have 60 seconds to use your Pop goes the weasel. Go ahead. Check every gen.

  • You really don't expect Trickster to be good. I'm guilty of underestimating him too at my own peril. I got M1'd off of a gen and he hit every single knife with one of those add ons that ramp up damage. It was so unusual I still remember it!

  • Schrodinger's gg. It simultaneously means 'good game' and 'git gud' and it's simultaneously both until you interpret it the way you do.

I've never seen someone get so mad at a Meg though. In that situation I'd just start typing Meg over and over like she's some sort of Pokemon.

  • Try not to be a tool unless you wanna be treated like one.

  • I've never used it, but I wanted to use it on Myers during T3 just for the sake of being ridiculous.

I prefer perks that reward you for winning as opposed to giving you a leg up when you're losing though.

  • Dwight.

    Because yes.

  • Let him play killer. At Rank 20 survivors are easy enough to collect and hook and killers on average get more blood points per trial compared to survivor which will let him fidget with add ons and stuff quicker. My first games were as Trapper but let him find his groove.

  • Working on a generator with another person can cause the killer perk Discordance to trigger. A popular perk with some killers. I personally prefer to be in a healthy state whenever I reasonably can be, because if you can't spin and make Victor miss you then that means you're in the dying state and if you don't have unbreakable or something similar like Soul Guard you're putting everything into the hands of other survivors.

Yes Victor can be blinded by a flashlight. I'm not sure why you'd want to though, because you have to stand pretty still to aim the flashlight and that gives him a clear shot to pounce on you. Prepare to zig and zag then when Victor misses you, kick him.

If Victor latches onto a survivor, the point of view instantly switches back to Charlotte. Victor can be seen as a white outline while he is on a survivor's back and gives Charlotte a pretty good idea of where to go for the down. However during this. Victor does not naturally regenerate but CAN be recalled off of the survivor after a certain period of time. If you pull Victor off of you fast enough and the person playing killer has poor map sense you can get away before she sees Victor's white outline.

Generally the Twins should be treated with the same caution you would any 115% killer. Some Twins opt in chase to unleash Victor when they get in a chase, while others use him to Pincer attack. If you see Victor just standing around and you get close to him, it triggers killer instinct and Charlotte will know you're nearby. If you're not going to kill Victor, make note of his location and stay away.

This is common around hooks, but if Victor latches onto you he can only hit you once before you smash him. You can't be downed by Victor from full health. Now if Charlotte is guarding the hook and Victor is on patrol that's a little more rough, but if Charlotte isn't aware you went in for the save you have time to get away without getting injured at all.

For me Victor's laugh is hard to hear but he's so uncanny looking it's easy to see him on the approach. Anything with a stunning effect will kill Victor, including things involving perks. That's all I can really think of at the moment.

  • Welcome to the year 2021. You can pick from one of these fine labels and build your entire identity around it, but you must use a thesaurus to communicate with your fellow human.

I recommend using dispatched, neutralized or eliminated. Isn't that much better? Because you used a different word the fact you're impaled on a meat hook with blood pooling under your body is much more happy and kind.

It's the world we all strive for.

  • I am a resident troll/memelord but even with 3 traps you can completely shut down the shack. If you start with 5 you can nail down the Hawkins room with all the glass windows and still have two traps to lock down the upstairs gen. Lerys (especially with an iri stone) can have large swaths locked down especially in the rooms with the yellow benches if you don't put the obligatory traps in the one grass spot.

Imagine spawning in the exit gate area in Lerys and your boy the Trapper comes by and traps every single running route as soon as you spawn in. gg for you sir. I know this because I've done it.

  • Honestly as Trapper is my main killer, giving him all of his traps at the start could completely seal a survivor off and give them no chance to escape. Especially on indoor maps. Not that I wouldn't enjoy that immensely I can see why they make getting your traps a chore.

If they really wanna toss Trapper a hand make it harder to get out of the traps. I always catch some immersed survivor halfway across the map and they get out on the second attempt after I've abandoned my chase.

    Cut me some slack.

  • I use Rancor / Nemesis / Furtive Chase / Deathbound on my Myers.

Survivors seem to enjoy it too and someone's getting the Tonberry Knife if all the gens get done. Drop that pallet. Save that obsession off the hook. I dare ya.

  • I just turned 35 so I'm an ol....oh.

    Never mind.

An issue is that Sachiko is a child. Not sure if the ratings boards would be fine with a super young girl being in a game like this, killing people on screen OR getting pallet stunned and harmed by Survivors.

Eh. Nintendo was cool with having it on their platform. Internationally I dunno BUT Steam doesn't have an issue with the series.

Besides, the voice actor for Sachiko also plays the voice for Ash's Pikachu from pokemon. Just imagine it's Pikachu and it's all spilled ketchup. It'll be fine and dandy.

Ehh that franchise kinda lost all that made it good if you ask me.

You're not wrong but a lot of chapters from Book of Shadows give me chills still. Everyone has always been pining for a short killer and controlling a floating Sachiko while your big hammer wielding buddy acts like a zombie that you have a lot more control over would work for me.

Just imagining the Mori of Sachiko sitting on the survivor's chest, taking her scissors and popping an eye out with a laugh. Lockers could have corpses of dead students lost in Heavenly Host. They wouldn't benefit the killer but you know. Oh well.

  • Corpse Party has a lot of content. That universe is kinda gory/brutal compared to DbD's fairly "light" horror theme but I'd enjoy it.

  • I do pretty well with Nemesis, and while I have a hunch I've beaten a few SWF I can't really confirm it. I run:

Ruin / Devour Hope / Starstruck / Nurse's Calling. I deal a lot of one shots and tentacle whip when I can't. Zombies point out where immersed survivors are and I handle loopers like I always have.

If survivors hug you to dodge the whip just M1 them. A nice pat on the back sends them running and then when they're down you're always there to pick them up.

  • I've been finding a lot of success with Starstruck. You expose the survivor when you pick up the fallen one AND again when you hook that survivor. Pair it with Agitation and things get nasty quick.

BUT out of the choices you've got available to you I like Devour Hope, Rancor and Make your Choice with BBQ. It keeps you on someone and exposes anyone who is altruistic. It also lets you know where people are both when you get a hook and when a generator is complete.

Devour Hope either works or it doesn't, but when it works...it works. If possible I like using a secondary attack when I get 3 stacks of Devour until I get all 5 stacks so I don't tip off the survivors to start totem hunting, but sometimes that insta down is worth it.

NOED is good if you're new but you're playing the whole game with 3 perks and you may not even end up in a situation where all the generators are powered so...why? If you have Nemesis though Rancor becomes much more threatening.

If you see a group come in with flashlights run Nemesis, Rancor and Lightborn with Devour Hope and suddenly issues start arising.

  • Imagine if Laurie dropped a pallet on Myers in the movie, but they made it make sense in universe and unless you played Dead by Daylight it looked like a completely ordinary horror movie chase scene.

  • This game is pay 2 lose. Now excuse me while I run my survivor around in neon flashing clothing.

  • Yeah sometimes I play when I'm spacing out and while it can go well, I can tell on my end it could go a lot better. A lot of times I'll aim where I think the survivor will be instead of where they actually are, or I'll miss Nemesis whips/Pyramid ruptures etc. On survivor I just run forward and hope for a pallet instead of planning my routes.

Sometimes its fun to just be cheeky but sometimes after my survivor is floating into the air it kind of hits you, that feeling of yeah that was dumb, I know better.

  • I've taken a lot of breaks with Dead by Daylight and it's generally one of the rare forms of PvP I'm okay with. My quarterly dividends from stocks make tossing a few bucks at this game every 3 months pretty mindless but for me it's something new and shiny to play with.

Will I take breaks in the future? Yeah. Definitely. Will I eventually wander back and mess around? Prolly. I still play EverQuest, Ultima Online, Maplestory and my other steam games once in a blue moon.

What do you mean? A large majority of people in Canada speak English, its only really in Quebec (which is where BHVR is stationed)

    The rest is mainly English

I was referring to them being in Quebec but I can't really elaborate any further without getting into politics. Still, the English on that rift challenge is so unnatural I think it would be less honorable if I didn't poke a little fun at them.

  • Old Laurie Adept was hard for me because object constantly revealed you if you so much as accidentally looked at the killer. I ended up getting it vs a baby Nurse but even then it was only because I experienced against Nurses.

"Tee hee hee if all 3 other survivors die then you can see the killer and they can't see you tee hee hee."

    Game never works that way.

  • The killer I don't like.

  • Foolish rescuer. You shall get no altruism points from healing me today. I will run Resurgence and Solidarity and leave you with a silver emblem.

    Mwahahaha.

  • index.jpg

You seeing this post Leon? You know what you have to do.

  • I'd have triggering traps reveal your aura, slow you down -a lot- and give the Hag a very heavy speed boost. Just having her warp on you and slap you, especially when you get unhooked, was okay back in the day when healing didn't take forever but you can't run around injured around Hag. You step on the wrong spot and slap, you're down.

If she's barreling at you at high speeds and you're snared you can at least try to react, and you'll avoid the current strategy of popping all of her traps when she's carrying a survivor because you'll just make her agitation speed or cause her to get the zoomies.

Traps would still be very important to the Hag, obviously, but I dunno. There's a reason she's not popular to play as. (Hint: She's slow and can't blink.)

Wait you can prestige 3 times?! How many times can you prestige?

Three times. When you level a character to 50 you'll get a skull icon in the middle of your bloodweb. That skull wipes out all of your perks/items on that character and gives you a Prestige point that'll show on your character's selection screen. In exchange you get a bloody piece of clothing (chest, then legs, then head) and you now have a slightly better chance to have better items generate in your bloodweb.

A P3 killer has a higher chance to get ultra rares than a level 50 killer without prestige. If you like to hit hard or play hard, you'll wanna P3 your main character at some point. Usually what I do is use up all the items/add ons on a character before I prestige so after I get a few perks I'm back in the game with that character. Hasn't failed me yet.

  • That's a really good guide, good job!

I just wanna toss in that tonight I had a lot of fun with Nemesis running a Devour Hope / Ruin / Starstruck / Nurses Calling build. People expect a three hit chase but a lot of the time Jimbo just got sent straight to the shadow realm.

  • It's very satisfying to whip people. I enjoy the killer because he's your basic 115% killer with a few toys in his kit. Zombies are goofy and while I spurn them as survivor while I'm playing Nemesis I usually end up killing them if they get in bad spots and since they spawn on the side of the map opposite of you, you can kinda control where they go.

  • Prestige 3. Just level up Claudette's bloodweb to level 50 3 times for her bloody pieces. Maps are brighter than they used to be but it's still the best for stealth play.

  • Survivor side I like to talk to the item I'm carrying and give it a personality. My imagination can make games very emotional especially if I lose my item. If I didn't bring an item into the trial or I am unable to rescue an item, then I act like I'm on a radio call (Think Metal Gear Series) and make fun of the other survivors and the killer.

Killer side I like watching how survivors react if I catch them in a dead zone. Also back in the day when people could chat I liked how much the survivors loved me for killing them.

    PCmemories.png

It was a simpler, less competitive time.

  • Thanks friend. With enough work I might go on to copy and paste bigger and better things but for now that's my plateau of creativity.

Don't have a flashlight, not going to waste a pallet, I do move and get interrupted at the new gen by the other zombie.

You inspired me to make this.

  • This game has always supposed to have been pay to lose. That's why P3 Claudette is still the best stealth outfit in the game.

I like playing with shiny new toys though. Ooooh. Aaaaah.

In the time it took for me to unhook Nea and run back up the stairs BOTH of them started coming into the shack and down the stairs. I was completely caught off guard and due to the way it looks coming up from the basement I didn't see the boy zombie til he backhanded me.

    This game sometimes.

  • Chadzombies.png

Things like this. Why do you ask?

  • Killers do move faster, but getting hit by a killer gives you a burst of speed. Really at the start it's a lot easier for killers, but as you rank up with survivor you start meeting people that can carry the game. It's all about risk management and a roll of the dice. Surviving is a team effort, but pipping or winning is on you individually. Just because you get sacrificed doesn't mean you lost.

To understand the community, well, here's how I feel as killer.

My friend, you have met a terrible, terrible demise. But, uh, y'know, I-I don't feel too bad about it. After all, if...if it weren't from me, it would've just been from someone else, y'know? I guess what I'm trying to say is, life...life goes on. W-well, from—for everyone else, life goes on. Not...not for you. You're...you're dead.

But that's neither here nor there. It reminds me of one summer day in the park. I was having just a delightful picnic with my good friend Orville. And I said to him, I said, 'Orville, I...I have a story.' And he said to me, 'What's the significance of the story?' And...I said to him, 'Orville, not every story has to have significance, y'know? Sometimes, a...y'know, sometimes, a story's just a story. You try to read into every little thing, and find meaning in everything anyone says, you'll just drive yourself crazy. Had a friend do it once. Wasn't pretty.

We talked about it for years. And then not only that, but...you'll likely end up believing something you shouldn't believe, thinking something you shouldn't think, o-o-or assuming something you shouldn't assume. Y'know? Sometimes,' I said, 'a story is-is just a story, so just be quiet for one second of your life and eat your sandwich, okay?' Of course, it was only then I'd realized I'd made sandwiches, and...poor Orville was having such difficulty eating it! Elephants have those clumsy hands, y'know? Actually, I-I suppose that's the problem. They don't have hands at all, do they? They're f—they're all feet! And I-I couldn't imagine anyone asking me to eat a sandwich with my feet. Now, if I recall correctly, there was a bakery nearby. I said to him, 'Orville, let me go get you some rye bread.' Now, I'm unsure if elephants enjoy rye bread, but I assure you that Orville does. Now, this was on a Tuesday, which was good, because rye bread was always fresh on Tuesday. They made sourdough bread on Monday, and threw it out Wednesday... Or rather, they sold it at a discount for people wanting to feed it to the ducks, and then, prob'ly at the end of the day, finally, they threw it all out. I-I don't recall.

I do remember a man who would bring his son to the bakery every Wednesday, and...then go feed the ducks. He would buy all of the sourdough bread. Of course, y'know, you're not supposed to feed the ducks sourdough bread at all. It swells up in their stomach, and then they all die. At, uh, at least...at least, that's what I've heard. Y'know, I-I never saw any ducks die myself, but I did notice a substantial decrease in the duck population over the course of a few years. I just never thought to stop the man and tell him that he was killing the ducks by feeding them sourdough bread! And if you want my opinion on the matter—heh, and I told Orville this as well—if you wanna feed ducks, or birds of any kind, for that matter, it's best to buy seed. I mean, when you think about it, breads of any sort don't occur in nature. They don't grow on trees o-or spring up from the bushes. I don't think birds know what to do with bread. What was I saying? Oh oh, yes yes. So I bought Orville some rye bread. What a fine day it was.

Anyway to make a long story short, the more you play the better you get. Try to soak in the horror atmosphere and enjoy it while you can. When you stop being scared it becomes a lot sillier.

I once had the joy of totally shaming someone who, at that aforementioned Blockbuster job, snuck into the employee area to allegedly use the bathroom. It was a middle-aged woman and I was out on the floor while the deaf girl was working behind the counter. When I noticed the woman disappear through the (open) door to the employee area I stopped what I was doing and hurried over to stop her. "Miss? MISS?? I'm sorry but that's the employee area, you can't be in there". She said "Well I needed to use the bathroom". I responded that it's for employees only. She pointed off toward the counter and said "she told me I could use it". I said "She's DEAF". The woman then left as embarrassed as anyone I've ever seen.

But yeah man, I love my peace and quiet. I love it. There are people who love listening to music all the time, who get a rush out of going to concerts, who love loud rambunctious conversation like big families at cookouts or gatherings, etc. Not me. I need things chill. I need things soft. So in that respect I admire that you don't have to deal with some of the more obnoxious and irritating aspects of society. Same with people who just want to approach you and start chatting. I'm not very social (again, anxiety) so I often have to look kind of mean and intimidating to make people just leave me alone.

The mobile version has a visual heartbeat? Jeez, it's also apparently had a bot mode (fully fledged, I think) for who knows how long. It would really be nice if they made the content the same across all platforms. The performance too, as I'm sure console users can currently attest.

My understanding, at least from a lot of the comments here on the forum, is that killer players HATE when a survivor is boldly doing something "right under their nose". They take it as a personal affront, an insult. But I do think that maybe in your case certain killers may notice that you're not being as proactive about running than you're used to, and may understand that something is different. I know that if I were playing as killer and ran to get someone who was on a generator, but they just continued to do it with their back to me, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and go off to find someone else. No one just plays the game as if the killer isn't there, so hopefully I'm not the only one who tries to play a sportsmanlike game when I can sense that something is wrong. I've had several matches where a team had someone who was obviously just hiding, AFK, or even just plain disconnects, in which case I'll chase them for points but never hook them. They're at a disadvantage, they don't need me making things that much more miserable for them.

Lol to be fair if a killer ever saw me being completely oblivious and left me to it I'd never know.

I'm a Red Rank survivor. The problem is, I don't really hide much. Or if I do, it's never pre-planned. I never really have a pre-planned route, or if i do I end up never using it. I'm used to thinking on the fly. I almost never know what I'm going to do until about 2 seconds before I do it.

Run Windows of Opportunity/Zanshin tactics for a week or so. Being able to see things will familiarize yourself with the tiles subconsciously.

I know every time I see a tile which is x = pallet =x===== I know I'm impossible to get until they break the pallet (unless they're cheeky) or an L T wall next to a main building can let you link tiles. Honestly though sometimes channeling your inner Meg and just holding forward wastes so much time it's amazing. Especially against a 110% killer.

You have a good attitude about it, I'm just sorry to know that sound isn't an element that you can enjoy. I feel bad for anyone in such a position. I mean I understand that deaf people don't want or need charity and are just as capable as anyone else (I worked with a beautiful deaf girl in 2000 who I thought of asking out, she and I chatted to each other over the work computers because I don't know sign language. It was a Blockbuster and I admired that she was able to keep up with everyone else). And, for whatever it's worth, I myself am very sensitive to noise - I have some kind of disorder associated with my anxiety problems that makes loud sounds, or sounds that I feel are inconsiderate (people revving up their engines really loudly, or people talking to each other in a movie theater, etc.) really invasive. They trigger me and I get agitated very quickly. I honestly wish that I could just turn off the noise of the world sometimes. A lot of times, really.

The terror radius basically works like this: When you or the killer start to encroach upon the radius there's first the sound of a heartbeat, just a subtle rhythmic thumping. If you go in the other direction it will fade out but if you go in the direction of the killer the thumping will become more pronounced and faster. The final warning is that the player will hear the killer's terror radius music, a sort of eerie or rushing tune depending on the killer which communicates that you'd better get out of there.

Unless it's different with headphones my experience is that the terror radius is directional but only vaguely, and you can really only tell when you yourself are moving. For example if you're working on a generator that's surrounded by walls and you start to hear the terror radius there's really no way that I'm aware of to be 100 percent sure which direction the threat is coming from. He could be coming from right behind you as you look at the generator, or he could be approaching your direction from the other side of one of the surrounding walls.

This is why killers with especially large or especially small terror radii are dangerous: If the terror radius is large, you're hearing it all over the place and can't pin down which direction the killer is in. If it's small, the killer can be creeping towards you and you might not have any idea. Doctor and Michael are contrasting examples of this.

You bring up an interesting point. There should be an option in this game for the hard of hearing that allows them to turn the terror radius into a visual indicator rather than an audible one, something like a subtle tremor along the edge of the screen or something.

I saw on mobile they have a heartbeat that appears on your character, that's kinda cool. If I'm out and away from a generator and it's quiet I can hear the terror radius, but I can never tell how close the killer is so I just try to get a visual on him while remaining out of sight. Once a generator is past about 40% it drowns out all noise for me as survivor or killer so I just keep my eyes peeled while watching for skill checks. It's not that bad.

We kinda have to function like everyone else. Most people instantly want to tell you about themselves and get offended when they're ignored. Then you respond to them and oops you were too blunt or didn't respond with nuance. You can't win, so I don't play. I once had a love that acted as a megaphone on my behalf, and I did appreciate that. It can work. I am glad I'm kind of protected from constant news and talking points. Everyone wants to have a label and mine is 'Shh'.

I will say though I can still be snuck up on. I had a Nemesis watch me do the final generator today and I didn't notice him until I saw his red glow on my back so I got off my gen and crouch looked up at him like 'Am I doing a good job repairing this generator?' and he nodded at me so I finished the gen and powered the exit gates.

Then he punched me in the back of the head with NOED and chased down the last survivor. I have a sneaking suspicion other killers sometimes CAN tell you're playing a bit odd, (or "bold?") but I win enough so it must be effective somehow.

Teach me your ways o' wise one. I can't for the life of me track survivors. It's my greatest weakness as a killer.

To make a long story really, really short; play survivor, and I don't mean mess around for a day. Get up to green or purple at least.

Now ask yourself what you would do if you were in the survivor's shoes. Where would you hide? What route would you take? Check the spots you would hide, and see what options the survivor has available to them. Most loops can only be ran a certain way to be efficient. A lot of survivors will walk behind a wall to stay out of your vision so looking around isn't really that valuable. Looking behind you and randomly turning around is.

No really. Skim an area. Oops survivors not here tee hee. Then turn around sharply. Straight 180. I catch a lot of survivors like that because they'll come out of hiding to go back to what they were doing. For some reason killers never turn around when I vs. them. Ever.

Plus survivors are easy to track with map sense. When a survivor is at 60% or 20% on the hook at least one survivor will be en route, or if you have altruistic survivors they'll come at 90% or 40%. Make a note of who it is and you'll know where they're at. Gen jockey needs to be pressured but not hooked. They're usually defensive and don't like being out of position. If they are out of position, capitalize.

I don't like going after weak links but usually the spirit of Meg possesses at least one survivor. One of them will do something derpy that defies all conventional logic. When they fall down, make sure you're there to pick them up. They always need a helping hand.

1 … 16 17 18 19 20 … 60
