  • Even though you can't see the player's ID, BHVR can, so when you submit an in-game report it allows BHVR to pull the info. Just follow it up with a ticket on the forums, since the chat reporting isn't working.

And this is why hook-DCing needs to be removed.

Because Survivors quit like toddlers if the Killer is/uses perks/uses addons/rolls a map that they don't like.

Lol good luck with that. The only thing that'd make the population shrink faster is disabling SWF.

I usually ignore afk survivors since they usually are busy with something before returning to their match, at least that's my view of things. Now if you're doing it to get quicker out of a match you'll be out of luck because the most I'll do to non-participating players is slug them, no hooking however.

Hey, so long as they get to bleed out it's all good. Hold shift and crawl around the map to keep any masochistic survivors from trying to heal you back up. If the killer won't even hit you just load another game with DBD running in the background or stream something until the trial is over. Note on that, though: Two games that use EAC don't play nice together and most times the second game won't load, unless you're using VM/sandboxing software. Yet another reason EAC is one of the worst options a developer can pick.

It still amazes me we got a map repeat prevention before a (much needed imo) Killer repeat prevention.

I wish. Part of what makes killers like Wesker so annoying is that since they're popular and easy to pick up you get a disproportionate amount of trials with them. There needs to be some kind of buffer or break in there, even if it's a toggle setting that players can optionally turn on.

I'm on my 6th right now. Its so funny watching them get mad when you afk at a hook at the start of the game.

I've been in survivor groups where we all AFK'd at the basement hooks at the same time so when the crows show up it's a nice big explosion. It's funny to watch a SM/Knight/Bubba run down the stairs, stop and stare for a few moments, then start swinging at air to try to get us to run. Nope. You picked an äşşƗäşƗįċ killer, have fun with that. I'll be doing something else until the scoreboard pops up.

Really? Because so far I've seen:

-2 streamers who told me some very choice words when I went to their vod.

-A nurse that slugged the OTHER three survivors after I went next and claimed she was upset that I left.

-A blight that left me slugged then made me wiggle until EGC ran out.

Just in case it wasn't clear, I mean "I'm going stand under the hook to signify I want you to kill me so I can go next" and not a legit afk at the start.

It's best to not wiggle and force the killer to drop/pick you up repeatedly, before having to down and pick you up again to try to start over. No sense in not pouring some salt on the wound if they're already mad enough to do that.

It's also fun to fail the wiggle checks when the killer is not hooking you but not letting you bleed out by carrying you around until you wiggle off. See how long it takes them losing chases against the other survivors and not being able to kick pallets/gens while carrying you before they hook or drop you.

IKR? When someone's done with a trial, they're done. There's nothing that a killer or other survivor is going to do to change that, but it still gives me a good laugh to see either of their posts proclaiming to be doing something to "teach them a lesson" or "deny them an easy out". For me, I never seem to have enough time for resource gathering/crafting in some of my other games, and I appreciate being given the time for that. Considering BHVR doesn't do anything to anyone unless it's a verified exploit or the most vile/threatening of chat violations, I'm sure their ticket/recording will just make the rep having to deal with it roll their eyes so hard they'll see their own brain before deleting it.

I rather skip it, luckily I haven’t got any trophy yet, I will stick to single player games, don’t want to mess and bang my head into this.

I'll be honest with you, that's probably your best course of action.

This game is very far from new player friendly, the devs make some of the most bizarre changes to any game I've ever played, there're bugs and exploits that don't get resolved for ages (if at all), balance issues galore, most times the matchmaking is not even remotely accurate, some of the achievements/tome entries have cringy or outdated requirements, there's little to no communication between the devs and the players (no real community management at all), any changes or updates based on player feedback the devs listen to from the players are often too little/too late or counterintuitive (and in most cases it has to be an almost game-wide revolt to catch their attention), and most DLCs released in the past few years have just brought more problems/broke existing game elements/are generally meh.

As it exists right now, I'd never recommend this game to anyone, nor any other game this developer produces on their own. If I hadn't started playing it a while back and already invested the time, I'd have long since dropped it.

But hey, if you're a fan of Feng Min she's got şħīţłōåďş of overpriced and recolored cosmetics you can buy!

  • @Ariel_Starshine said:

If they keep nerfing add ons, items, and such, without adding new ones, items will all become pointless. I'd like the items to be more fun, if anyhting.

That's only partially correct. Survivors/Killers with nothing loaded should be the "baseline" for being able to accomplish your goal in the game.

Survivor + Perks (old DH, old CoH), Killer + Perks (old Overcharge+Call of Brine), and some killer abilities (Knight/SM three-genning, Legion having baseline Killer Instinct, Bubba being able to insta-down facecamp), should be an enhancement to help accomplish your goal in the game in a noticeable way or slightly adjust your playstyle/tactics, but not provide "I win" buttons.

Items/addons should be only able to slightly assist with certain goals or aspects of the game, or provide the option of altering an aspect of the character's playstyle (Prayer Tablet Plague), but not be so OP that they can dictate win or loss. BNPs/Syringes on survivor side, on killer side some Blight/Spirit/Michael Myers addons, for example, provide an insane amount of boost for just using one slot. When used in combination with some other addons available to those characters (particularly in the case of it being multiplied by four for survivor teams), it can create pointless trials that often turn toxic.

Also, some Killers shouldn't need certain addons to function well, or have a shot at winning above low/low-mid MMR levels. Nor should there be Killers with most of their addons being so useless that they're limited to just a few they can use at all (Freddy, Pyramid Head). It also doesn't help that for some killers one/both of their iri-level addons are worse than lower level ones or function counter to the killer's own power [Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Onryo, Hag, Nurse (debatable with Matchbox vs Spasmodic Breath)].

There should never be an instance where one or one set of perks/addons can swing a match so substantially for one side or the other. That, plus some maps/map variants, are at the core of the game's imbalance issues. It's the primary reason I'd prefer BHVR to stop with the new survivor/killer/perk cycle for a while and use that time to update and balance what we already have before adding more to it. They're treating it the same way they've treated the game's underlying code: let the problem continue without update until it's become so daunting an issue as to be effectively impossible to correct at this point.

Indeed. The rewards posted state "When the community reaches a combined 55M points, everyone receives 500K BPs, 500 Iridescent Shards, and 5 Rift Fragments!" 500k BPs is like ~2hrs of trials, 500 shards is less than two level gains post lvl 50, and 5 rift fragments is one tome entry.

For a community-wide/global event the rewards seem like an unenthused dismissing hand wave.

I thought its longer than that now since any self heal takes 24 charges now? And selfcare makes you heal at 35% slower.

Self-Care is 35% of normal speed (35/100), not 35% slower (65/100). Before the latest nerf for it it was 50% and some people used to think that was "trash". If it were still 50% it'd be one of the most commonly ran perks today.

Post-nerf, medkits used on yourself take a 33% efficiency loss. Meaning if you use it on someone else you get 100% of its value (24/24 charges, or two heals to other survivors), but if you use it on yourself you get 67% of it's value (16.08/24 charges, or one heal to yourself). If the killer is running Sloppy Butcher, Overwhelming Presence, or an addon that causes Mangled (or Hemorrhage and you get interrupted while healing), there won't be enough charges for one self heal.

In some trials I've seen players bring a medkit in at the start while the end scoreboard shows them running Botany Knowledge (reduces medkit healing efficiency on both self and altruistic heals), and I can only assume their reading proficiency is just enough to be able to log into the game.

if killer can just run franklins and force me to use it on myself?

The wording of this is odd. If the killer is running Franklin's, you're not going to be able to use the medkit on anyone including yourself. You can try to pick it back up right after you're hit, but you'll have lost a chunk of distance you could've had and you'll likely just get downed/hooked. And you'll still need a heal if you get off the hook.

It feels so good that as a Twins main I don’t have to sweat or run Corrupt Intervention to try and slow the game down.

Ill still lose against a good surv squad, but that’s any killer really.

The killer experience is so much more enjoyable though there are still frustrations.

How is playing Twins these days? I have an achievement I need to finish for them, but they've been bugged/broken so often I've not tried in ages.

  • This is delightfully creepy. It'd need a good AI and a solid/extensive list of options and pranks available so it doesn't get repetitive quickly.

If the devs could come up with something like this and make it viable vs SWF they'd have a win for an anniversary release.

  • Mandy responded to a similar post within the last few days advising that these were pieces of a larger concept that was intended for testing on the PTB only, and even at the time of testing it was specified that nothing may come of it. The indication of the post was that the entire project would have to be released, not just parts of it, and it didn't seem likely.

  • Compared to before the patch it's a breath of fresh air. You can avoid flashlight blinds and not get five-second stunned out of stealth anyway, or run Lightborn and play like any other killer with it.

DH not being standard issue on every survivor means in most cases (or all cases at the trial start) 2 hits = 1 down without having to bait it out or the survivor getting to a pallet/next loop anyway. It's easy to spot the DH crutch hards from before the patch. Most can't loop/get away well without it or try to 360 constantly and hope the killer is on a console, or act like newborn deer on a frozen lake trying to work with the DH alternates.

Against a good group hit and run still isn't terribly viable, but against a random solo queue group the nerfs to medkits and COH make it a usable strategy again. Particularly when running Franklin's. It's still funny to see some survivors would rather immediately stop running to pick up their dropped item and get downed/hooked vs just keep running for a shot at getting away or looping for a while. When they do it over a flashlight it makes me lol irl.

There're new options to the DC/suicide game now: was it the one who brought the map offering, brought DH but couldn't use it, brought CoH but no one would come to heal them, or (in the case of running Franklin's) brought Built to Last/White Ward but couldn't get value out of it. Bonus points are awarded if you leave the one that brought Boil Over to bleed out in a corner of the map or top of the tower in Eyrie while 3v1 the trial and they wind up DCing.

Anyone know how to hide from empathy? The amount of times I have died from a survivor killing our entire team with it is ridiculous. They just point as the killer follows them. It’s annoying.

    They sometimes use bond too…

Happens all the time. I report it 2-3 a month at minimum. Have had it happen twice within the span of three trials.

Unfortunately, BHVR didn't think ahead for their online, multiplayer, kill or be killed, win at any cost game, and didn't code in any way for this (or anything else) to be easily reported. So, unfortunately, the players have to do all of the legwork on it. Including having to file two different reports per incident and going through the slow, weirdly out of order questioning, thematic bot script that doesn't even have a capacity to upload video evidence over 50mb.

The latter point of which is astounding, since even using the absolute best compression codec on top of the poorest quality recording will net 150mb+ for a typical trial video. You want to actually see any detail? It's 300mb+ per trial.

  • Almost anything > DH

When playing killer I'm enjoying the new meta greatly. Far less un-earned escapes and chase extensions.

  • @ironblade said:

Don't expect anything. It could lead to major disappointment and unwanted frustration. If you think 7th anniversary is the only redeemable factor for this game then you'll only have yourself to blame for what is to come. If it's an original chapter then, yes, majority will most likely leave for good or if it's a liscenced but a bad one like FNAF then you're going full apeshit.

In other words, I can't be more excited for it because I will see either see a ton of rage posts or humble and nice posts.

My hopes and expectations for this are completely different things.

Hope: BHVR takes the critical feedback they're received to heart, acknowledges the outstanding bugs and imbalances in the game, and releases a massive QoL update instead of the rinse/repeat killer and survivor add. The anniversary tome is thoughtful with a creative/fun theme, readily accessible to survivors or killers in general without specificity, and free of any bugged or unrealistic criteria entries. Tome/Rift rewards contain three or less charms. The rest of the rewards are either non-recolor cosmetics and weapons for the killers/survivors with the least number of options, in-game store sales of cosmetics for- and in-game + DLC sales on killers/survivors that are- underrepresented characters, sizeable shard chunk rewards to help the players buy things for underrepresented characters and the characters themselves, and at least two maps reworked and rebalanced by a third party company that takes into account both killer and survivor sides and all killer powers/abilities available in the game. Absolutely no maps are weighted for heavy rotation. Anti map repeat is active. An experience multiplier and blood hunt are active on alternating weeks for playing trials while the anniversary event is going on.

Expectations: Absolutely none of the above. BHVR ignores any and all feedback/complaints received in the past year+. Rinse/repeat of the same junk that's released every time, with small BP quantity space fillers. A company you've never heard of is contracted to make some godawful/hideous DBD swag, and for an extra fee you can receive a premium upgrade with your choice of paper blades and a bottle of lemon juice or eye droppers filled with a mix of sand and sriracha. All feedback, bug report, and forum sections of the official DBD site mysteriously go down; attempting to pull them up displays a custom error screen pimping BHVR's other games.

  • Situational awareness and game sense. Most players don't have them.

  • The game's been doing this for a long while. It gets worse after some patches.

  • I'm happy when issuing any command does something. I've long since lost count of the number of times I've gone to throw a pallet or vault a window and nothing happens. I just stand there staring at the pallet or start sliding along the wall away from the window.

  • Besides the main building, Haddonfield also has an infinite/double infinite depending on if two buildings spawn beside one another. Even a killer with high mobility, bloodlust, and Bamboozle can be ran for a good while with it. The only way to take a survivor down who knows how to run it well is with a good ranged killer (which those are 4.4 killers so they have to be dead accurate) or trap killer (and even with the latter they'll just zone while you're setting traps), or the survivor makes a mistake.

  • The multiplier isn't consistent. It seems to reset periodically, regardless of how many matches you play back to back. Not sure if the length of time spent in queue is a factor, or someone DCing out of a match you're in has an effect. Some matches it seems to work, others it's just the usual point amount.

As bm33 posted above, restarting the game periodically to clear up issues with it is also a downer for getting the bonus. I tend to do this and recycle my IP address through my VPN.

  • @Krazzik said:

I'm always up for this. The only achievement I've not got is the Iri 1 Survivor and I'll never get that with hoe the current system is.

You've no idea how happy I am that I got that and most of the other achievements a good while back. If I'd just started the game today with how it is, saw the list of achievements/tome entries on top of how unfun the game is, I'd just nope out and try to get my money back. As it is I'm trying to finish up some of the non-broken achievements/tome entries that don't involve the DLCs for Knight/SM/Wesker and their survivors (not interested in buying two şħīťşħōŵş and an annoyance in a trench coat), then I'm dropping this dumpster fire.

  • Solo queue is hell. Always has been, probably will never change. If it's not bad enough on it's own, it's compounded by a janky matchmaking system and imbalanced population on one side or the other throughout the day. Even if by some miracle you get a killer that is roughly your MMR, the chances of the other three survivors being in that same category are slim. You may be able to hold your own against the killer, but the rest of your team folds like lawn chairs.

As much as you probably don't want to hear it, Crows is pretty dead on about how it works. If you're playing survivor in solo queue, you're not on a team. You're in a group of people who share the same goal, and will (loosely/poorly) cooperate until it doesn't look like an escape is possible, then it's everyone for themselves.

Just be cautious, as some tactics will get you banned. Like if you're one of two people left, the other survivor gets caught, the killer will try to get that survivor to work with them to find you. Since there are no aura blockers for survivors seeing other survivors (though there really should be), except ducking in a locker for a bit, any downed survivor can see all the other survivors across the entire map. The killer will down them, then pick up/drop them repeatedly until they stand up any try to get them to go point you out. If you can catch video of it it's a bannable offense for that survivor. Since it's not progressing the trial by hooking or bleeding out the survivor, I'm sure an argument can be established on why the killer shouldn't get off free, either.

Also, as an fyi, when the trial is going badly, or against a killer that's known to drag trials out indefinitely (SM, Knight, slug build Onryo, etc.), or for way too many other reasons to list, some survivors will leave, either DC or hook suicide. If leaving via hook, proper etiquette is to leave them be and grab as many points as you can. Pulling them off the hook will not only not change things, but it can be detrimental to the survivor that pulled them off (both in missed points and rapidly increasing annoyance).

Say what you will about DBD, if you've played it a while you'll either develop a tough skin or some form of PTSD. Plus it makes even other 5h177y games seem like buckets of joy.

It could be my set up, I have 16ram, 12500k, 3070ti, but previous patch, I had adjusted the config settings to set all graphics to max and fps to 165, and I tried doing the same again, and my game is just so laggy now. I know it's not my connection, it's just the fps that's taken a dive. Any advice?

The performance dip has been noticeable. Even the initial DBD screen with the Easy Anti-Cheat logo that pops up when you just start loading the game takes about 25-30% longer to finish and disappear. I've had to drop the graphics settings a notch down from Ultra to get about the same performance I had previously with Ultra. Getting occasional hiccups and delays that weren't there before. At times the prompt for throwing a pallet isn't coming up.

My system has double the RAM as yours in DDR5, latest gen high speed M.2 drives from the top 5 best on the market, 13600K, on one of the top 10 mobos on the market with a minor overclock. My video card is current gen but a few notches down from yours. Using an edited .ini set to read-only so the game can't mess with it. All that and it's experiencing the same issues your system is and console players are.

Ever snce the new patch, I just can't find any fun anymore. If I play survivor, I just get immediately tunneled or left on the ground till I bleed out. My teammates have the iq of a brick and go for saves in killers faces, while they are injured and now that is yet another person needing saved. WHen I play killer, all I get are sweat squads with gen rush builds like Prove Thyself, Hyperfocus, and good toolboxes. And now slowdown perks are pretty much gutted and feel like they do nothing, so the game is pretty much over in two minutes no matter what i do. Wonder what went through the devs minds when they nerfed the last of the slowdown perks, and didn't even touch prove thyself and toolboxes. Oh, and chase are non existent no. Everyone just 99's their Sprint Burst and just hold W with massive distance gained between us and it is just no fun. I have been left to just playing bot matches because that is now the only way to have an enjoyable game that isn't over in two minutes.

    @BooperDooper said:

Survivor has been very unfun since this patch dropped. It like flicked a switch in a lot of killers heads or something to where they are just doing scummy things. I just put on music and only play a little survivor and try to just vibe and not be frustrated and play more killer instead. I'll probably go back to not playing the game again soon lol. Or maybe just not much, just enough to complete the rift. Cause spending nearly a year off dbd to come back last month and now it's in this state is just... not worth lol.

It was warned about before the patch dropped. They changed the original nerf to DH because it might lead to camping/tunneling, into something that is guaranteed to lead to camping/tunneling. They gutted every useful gen regression perk, but didn't touch toolboxes or gen progression perks. They moderately nerfed survivor healing. The end result? Tunnel/camp, tunnel/camp, tunnel/camp. Killer players start moving to other killers with mobility/better anti-loop to compensate for the gen rush.

It's confusing as hell how this was not only thought to be a good idea but actually released.

I used to play friendly killer a lot (exceptions of course for any group running RPD/Lery's/Gideon's offerings or being toxic). Double hook everyone, farm some chase/gen kicks, then let everyone go. Don't camp/tunnel, rotate survivor hooks. Now, by the time I get to a point when I can start being friendly, three gens are gone and survivors are already teabagging. So, aggressive killer it is. Tunnel out one asap. Camp if the group is being overly altruistic. When it's down to the last two, slug one after they've already burned Unbreakable and camp one on the hook in case they have Deliverance. Anyone running Boil Over gets slugged and bled out, if at all possible, even if there's a hook nearby.

Then come to the forums and see multiple posts by people being legit surprised this is what's happening directly after the patch. Like...really? Really? There was no foreshadowing for this at all? Strap in, because none of it is likely to change until the devs actually balance the last changes.

Meg & Steve death, I could slug Nea for Mika, but I refused to slug for 4K.

No tunneling, no camping. Only 1 time I went back to hook because I was in chase, but I go for the healthy unhooker instead of unhooked.

You're playing against four low-Prestige survivors (at least two of them seem actual low-Prestige), two of which don't even have full purp perks, and one of them doesn't have addons for their item. I don't know if this was intended to be a brag post or counter-argument to the state of the game, but it misses the mark substantially. :/

Is it that you're playing Trapper and got a 3k? If that's it, then it is kinda brag-worthy. 👍️

  • Or a QoL boost and code cleanup. The game could use some modernization and stability.

The new killer/survivor/perk every few months thing has been done to death. There's so many killers, survivors, and perks already in the game, most of which aren't used or used infrequently. Stop it. Fix/update what's already here.

I can't tell you the last time I've seen half the survivor roster, and it seems like only 1/3 of the total killer roster are routinely used.

Perks? PAGES of them, and only about a dozen or so do you see used often on each side. Then those get nerfed into the ground, another set gets popular, then they're nerfed into the ground. Repeat, repeat.

And the maps. Dear god the maps. Killer sided? Survivor sided? Neither side likes them at all cough*RPD*cough. Still getting stuck on or colliding with tiny bits of debris or leaves? Openings that one side can go through but not the other? The map's appearance makes you want to claw your eyes out (Shattered Square)? New maps and updates of old maps not taking into account existing killers/killer powers? Just too many problems to list.

Take a year, fix what's here, release new cosmetics (not just recolors) and general tomes that everyone can do (not just if you own X character) for income, and give a solid reason for existing players to stay and new players to join.

  • This....actually looks kinda cool. Like a combination of the below two knives.

    image.png image.png

  • I keep getting Shelter Woods and Autohaven back, to back, to back, to back, to back. Right about time I was thinking they can't possibly throw another one of these, some j4ck.455 runs a map offering for one.

I can't tell if it's a smart business decision or not. A lot of people probably don't own Tools of Torment yet, especially with its poor reception. Is the Tome supposed to encourage people to buy the DLC for the Rift Challenges and cosmetics? Pay money for the privilege of paying more money?

Indeed. I don't own the DLC and don't plan on getting it, so a chunk of page one of the new tome I'm not able to complete. No idea of what the next pages will look like, but I expect the same. Which I suppose doesn't really matter in the long run, since the majority of the rewards are meh.

Probably going to be the worst tome so far, imo. I find her lore... cringe? I can't even find the right word.

It feels like they took it off of Wattpad, or a 14 yr old's fanfic.

It's probably why they set the April 26 Prime Gaming reward to be a free unlock of the Premium Track for the tome. With not having to spend cells to unlock it, and gaining the cells from the tome, they're technically paying you to do the tome. That's when you know it's terrible.

  • Same. It's particularly noticeable in the lower Bloodweb levels, such as 1-12, when there are fewer options to watch. Auto purchase almost always goes for the more expensive item first, or right after grabbing a cheap item, regardless of how many cheaper options are closer. It seems to want to finish the branch/arm of the Bloodweb each time before moving on.

  • Still getting the info pop-up about it at the bottom of the screen while loading into trials, too.

  • @Veritere said:

Removing the ability to self unhook completely would invalidate some perks and offerings. So they would have to change that aswell which I dont really see happening xD

Also, does slugging the person that tried to get off the match really do anything? The person no longer wants to play that match, he will just tab out and do something else. At that point you are just stroking your ego but go for it

Indeed. The people who complain about it never seem to get it. It doesn't matter what they do, as survivor or killer. If the person's done with the trial, they're done. A fast out is always preferred, but if they can't get it they'll just tab out.

It's like saying removing camping would invalidate terriotial imperative, except I would argue an early """""KOBE"""" is far worse than a camping killer.

Too many people on these forums try to defend this "mechanic" especially the older players it seems.

I don't want people to leave me in a 3v1 as a survivor and I don't want to be in 3v1 as killer it's just boring/work to me.

You want to leave or have consistent internet problems? Eat the dc or don't play.

That's the thing. It's going to be a 3v1 no matter what. You can rage at it as much as you'd like, but it is what it is. And your last line, "eat the dc or don't play", is not only inconsequential to the trial as it still leaves three survivors either way, but you're admitting you're ok with getting that result with a DC but but not with a hook suicide, which is hypocritical. To the person who left, they're still gone. I can promise you the DC penalty means little to them, whether it's one minute or one day, as they can play any number of other games or watch any number of videos while waiting for the DC penalty to tick down, then go back to playing DBD.

    @IWasLrft2Die said:

I wouldnt say it's reportable but it should 1. Heavily penalize their score and 2. Bump up the score of fellow survivors and the killer. I get orritated as a killer that I lose hooks because of this and my score goes down

It wouldn't be a bad idea to bump up the scores of the other players to compensate, though penalizing the score of the person dropping out would have no effect. If they're willing to eat a DC/suicide on first hook they'll likely have little/no score or points built up to penalize. And since that's the case, any additional point penalty would be negligible at best. The long requested idea is to add bots to the match for the person who left. Bots may not be perfect compared to a good player, but if you've ever played any custom games against the bots you'll know they're not too bad. Certainly better than about 20%+ of the current player population.

A player that's given up has given up regardless of whether you make them waste time in the game. Everyone keeps trying to treat the symptoms and not the problem. Figure out why they aren't trying in the first place.

    Preach.

Doesn't matter what you do people will always give up regardless of how much the symptoms are treated. People will simply be less likely to stop playing if they actually get punished for it.

Or, we could give it a shot and see what happens. There's a good chance that if the problem(s) are treated the symptoms will at least lessen. It's already been proven that punishment doesn't work as "encouragement". Both in the game and in society in general.

Or more likely to just find other ways to not try. You can't force people to try any more than you can force them to have fun.

    Exactly.

Not really. If you take away hook suiciding and make DC's harsher at least after the first, then all that's really left is trolling. It will reduce the players that act this way, whether some stop trolling or some stop playing. Other games are prime examples of that.

In DBD? Yeah, try that out.

    @Nihlus said:

Of course there are. You could just meme the rest of the game. Run laps around the map. You could just sit on a gen and ignore the killer entirely, regardless of their presence. That last one you have no way of dealing with and they were literally more useful still than 90% of solo queue players.

    Ironic, isn't it?

    @Archael said:

This behaviour made me mad in both roles - as surv im pretty sure we are screwed. As Killer i know there will be no challange nor fun gameplay.

As surv i have nothing to do with this, just deal with it and go to the next match, sometimes im reporting such people for helping the killer.

As killer i deliberately refuse to kill this one if they had 2nd stage, for as much as i can and allow all other survs to escape if they wish.

Has no effect either way. It's not a reportable offense so nothing will happen other than yet another pointless ticket clogging the system. If slugged the player just tabs out and does whatever. Whenever this happens to me I load up another game with DBD in the background and play until the trial's over. As of late I've been achievement hunting in the recently released remaster of The Last of Us Part 1.

Hook Suicide is disconnecting without penalties. Why the devs never did anything about it is beyond me. If you are going to suicide on first hook, don’t queue. Go play something else and let the remaining players actually enjoy the game.

The devs have given reasons time and again on why it's in the game and they have no intention of removing it. It's why they stopped responding to the question after the first few times it was asked. At this point, asking for its removal is like asking for the removal of killers. It was funny at first, now it's just depressing.

Hook suicide could be completely removed from the game, and it'd change almost nothing. You'd just start seeing a lot more survivors hanging out at hooks with AFK crows, or an uptick in survivors hiding the rest of the match doing nothing useful and waiting for a shot at the hatch/exit, and so on. Still going to be a 3v1.

  • Thanks all, that was it! I set it to read-only the last time I made some adjustments to prevent the game overriding them.

I loaded the game up and waited for the News window to pop up, removed read-only from the file, closed the News window, then immediately closed the game. Reset read-only back on then loaded the game up, did the trick!

I don't like default Nurse, however, these two add-ons are fun!

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UXSME2TKLQDF/image.png

Sadly, they are expensive to use, but these make Nurse a different killer and more standart with other ones and it's fun.

I'd use Matchbox with another addon as it can actually limit the uses you get out of Spasmodic Breath, and Spasmodic has the faster run speed and lets you keep Blinking until you hit someone. The downside is you need to be able to land that initial Blink attack

But Spasmodic is hella fun and tends to surprise survivors. You blink and hit a survivor, if that survivor has gone against nurses before they'll tend to try to stick to the middle ground giving them an option if you over/under blink at them, or burn a blink for shorter distance now so they can make it up running later. or LOS you. Most aren't prepared for you to just charge them for the second hit, or run them down. I've had players accuse me of hacks in the end game chat because they'd apparently never seen the addon before.

When I was first learning Nurse to get her achievements/tome entries done, I used Spasmodic and a fatigue recovery addon. Since I missed a lot of Blinks, the fatigue recovery helped so I could try again faster, and if I landed the hit Spasmodic would turn the Nurse into a full-speed M1 which I had played a lot of before. So between the disoriented survivors freaking out over getting ran at by a Nurse and my prior experience with M1 killers, I was able to find a good balance until I got the hang of Nurse.

Once you get playing Nurse down pretty well, Spasmodic becomes more of a detriment, but it's still fun to meme on from time to time.

evil incarnate achievement is dumb some time, I mean I got it on ps4 and steam so I'm trying it now on ps5 now I have one.

but every time I almost get it like I killed two and two are left or I killed 3 and 1 left and hatch is closed same thing jump in locker jump in locker jump in locker even tho you lost get over it

he should be able kill right in the locker ,I mean tho you lost you keep jumping in locker what you get out of it? so every time I try for this achievement and get close and this happens just going let you all bleed out the timer.

I play both sides at one point I just let him have the kill.

Do a good number of farm trials. Double hook everyone, do some chases/gen kicks, then let them all go. Eventually your MMR will drop so you'll be against easier survivors.

When going for the achievement, 99% EWI3 against them and play with EWI2 for most of the trial. They'll typically think you're either bad at the killer or running Vanity Mirror. Let them get 2-3 gens done (if they're really not doing great, let them get down to 1 gen left to give them incentive to stick it out).

Injure all four of them to make them easier to find/track, then pop EWI3 and start killing them off. After you get two dead, if the last two don't DC, find them and finish them. If they hop in lockers, pull them out and take them as far as you can into an area with no lockers/pallets and let them wiggle free, then chase them down. If they don't wiggle, go to a corner of the map with no lockers/pallets, drop/pick them five times until they stand up, then kill them/chase them down and kill them.

The last survivor can be a run for the hatch, however you can use a hatch offering so you'll know where it'll spawn and camp it. Helps to use Insidious for this.

As a backup you can run some different perks to help out. Bitter Murmur, Nowhere to Hide, Oppression, or Surveillance in case they try to finish the gens. Darkness Revealed/Iron Maiden if they're likely to bounce between lockers to hide. Hex: Face the Darkness if you can keep them injured so they scream periodically (works well with Sloppy Butcher). With Blood Warden or No Way Out (can throw in Remember Me), you can hang out at the middle of the map and wait for the last two survivors to finish the last gen, then try to use an exit (helps to use a map offering for a smaller map). You can meme it using Trail of Torment to kick a gen and sneak up on someone and grab them. And Stridor, Whispers, and Spies from the Shadows are good for general hunting for hiding survivors.

  • No.

Bloodlust was added to stop infinite chases, compensate for lag, compensate for skill difference (particularly in a typical MMR mismatch), give the killer a faster head start if body blocked while in chase, etc.

You can just as easily argue skill issue with Bloodlust as with DH giving an extra health state to fix a chase error/avoid an otherwise earned down. Both are there to cover problems that shouldn't be in the game, yet here we are.

A video revealing all of the upcoming cosmetics with the midchapter was just released on the DBD Youtube channel:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oQ89V-H1x4

Some neat looking ones here for sure.

    Ugh.

The Trapper outfit is half decent, but not rift worthy. Everything else is meh. They could've left the Skull Merchant buried where it belongs and put the time into making gear for a killer that's actually played and could use something new.

This falls into the "WHY GOD WHY" category. Just no.

  • Depends.

I've had SWFs that didn't seem to have any intention of doing gens, just wanted to troll me as the killer. I slugged all of them and let them bleed out.

I've had gen rushers loaded down with progression perks and fat toolboxes w/BNPs do three gens before I got my first down. None of them seemed geared for healing, so I wound up slugging all of them before the doors were opened. They split up and tried to crawl to the far corners of the map so I let them, and waited for them to bleed out.

I've had survivor groups try to unhook in my face or when I've taken ~five steps from the hook, and wind up with either all four on the ground or one on the hook and three on the ground. Depending on the map and RNG there are frequent times where there aren't any other hooks within easy travel range (coughMidwichcough), so I just AFK and watch something online while they bleed out.

I assure you, there are reasons for slugging/bleeding out a full survivor team. At minimum, half the time it's on the survivor(s) themselves.

Skip the Boil Over/wiggle if you don't want to be left on the ground. If the hatch is closed, the killer is staring at you, and it's your first hook of the trial, skip the Deliverance (all it does is net the killer more chase/hit/down/hook points). Stay where you got dropped and wait to be picked up. If it's the end of the trial or obviously no way to win, instead of running to a map corner or crawling off to wait for bleed out, run/crawl to a hook or wait for the AFK crows to alert the killer so you can jump in another trial asap. If it's a loss and you went down in an area without hooks, don't wiggle while the killer is carrying you to a place with a hook (in my trials if that's the case and the survivor wiggles more than the initial auto wiggle, I just drop them and wait out the timer).

Or just DC. It doesn't make a big difference at that point, anyway.

  • If the killer is Legion, Bubba, a decent Blight/Nurse, perma EWI3 Myers, or obviously running Lethal and downs someone in the first few moments of the trial, always expect at least one survivor on your team to DC/suicide out asap. There's no point in getting angry, that's just what's going to happen. Don't waste your time running across the map to heal/unhook, just stay on a gen or prep for your own go next.

If by some divine intervention the DC doesn't happen or the survivor isn't on stage two of the hook within a few seconds, you can be pleasantly surprised.

Oh wow, yet another humblebrag thread about how good someone is, how original! Can you link your stream of 4k-ing 99 out of 100 matches with Wrath using no perks and addons? I want to learn from the gods themselves!

I haven't quite gotten it down to no perks yet, but no addons/map offerings is my standard for Wraith. He's my BP farmer for funding my survivors and a few other killers who are more addon reliant. Can't wait for the upcoming flashlight nerf. Will give me more flexibility with my builds.

  • @stvnhthr said:

When you play do you care about other player's experience or do you just go for yourself? I'm amazed at the number of players who play in a truly selfish manner. Am I the oddball for trying to make sure others have fun? Does dbd breed selfish players?

When playing killer I used to play fair, as it's more enjoyable. Tended to rotate survivor hookings, let the survivors go after double hooking and some chase/gen kicking, unless they were being toxic. It's fun in itself to scare the survivors by popping out of nowhere and having them run while trying not to piss themselves. I'd still prefer to play that way, but it's gotten far more difficult.

Since the survivor HUD was added survivors are playing way more aggressively/gen rushy and there's not nearly as many opportunities to play chill. Most times now I have to play more aggressive than I'd like. Half the time I have to go after the player that was just unhooked because the player that did the unhooking didn't stick around to take a protection hit and start a chase.

With how gen regression perks are being gutted, gen progression perks aren't being touched, some of the healing nerfs were reversed, and how DH is being managed for the next patch, it looks like tunneling someone straight off the hook to trigger BT and deny on-demand access to DH and/or the number of times they can trigger DH, while getting a survivor out of the trial asap, is going to be the default. May have to switch my killer mains to Blight/Nurse to offset the speed gens are going to fly.

If this winds up sucking as bad as I expect, I'll likely just play another game until it gets sorted out.

  • Yoichi and Jeff.

Yoichi has no cosmetic or customization support, so with no way to personalize his blandness no one plays him after getting his adept.

Jeff. Holy crap. Guy sounds like a dying moose getting freaky with a wookie from across the map when injured. That plus being so tall you can see him even when crouched, I'm amazed even on the rare occasions that I see one that anyone is playing them.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Sort of.

The bug was actually that every available pallet spawn was used, iirc.

    That's been fixed.

The issue is that the map is dogshit and still spawns 20+ pallets that all chain together while also burning your retinas with its color scheme.

Truly awful map. I'd long since gotten the impression that BHVR seemed to have some internal issue with making at least decent maps (not even looking for good, just decent). But this just clarified that they don't have a ######### to give about building maps anymore.

Excessive amount of obvious/safe pallets that chain into other pallets/loops, color scheme that legitimately hurts your eyes to look at it, color scheme that camouflages both scratch marks and blood pools to a ridiculous degree, HUGE map to try to traverse as both survivor and killer, piles on junk EVERYWHERE to get snagged on as both survivor and killer, multiple duplicates of the shack so you don't know which one is THE shack, very few tall wall areas to avoid hits from ranged killers or block LOS to mindgame, and so on and so on.

Some maps have their own unique problems, like Midwich/hooks and Gideon's/pallets, but Shattered Square is just a terrible POS all around.

When playing killer, any survivor group that runs an offering for that place I do my best to make it as miserable for them as I am, usually leaving them to bleed out while I park in a corner facing out from the map until the timer's up. As a survivor, if someone runs an offering for it I just go next immediately.

As a survivor, I haven't seen any noticeable change. If you are just talking about the first survivor down, maybe one in five games.

I’ve started slugging anybody who tries to give up early on as a way to discourage it

I doubt that will work. If you've given up on the game it's not like you're staring at the screen, you've either alt-tabbed or are doing something else. If anything you're just keeping yourself in the game longer than necessary.

I always want someone who says something ignorant like slugging as a way to discourage it to give a logic decision chart on how they came to the conclusion that that's going to have any positive effect whatsoever. If the person gave up, they're done. Doesn't matter what state they're in in-game. They're not going to do anything but try to get out of the trial asap. If that's not a option, they'll load up their preferred streaming service and watch something enjoyable, or read through some websites. They're not there anymore to suffer, or whatever it is you think you're accomplishing.

Typically, slugging just means you're looking for them to DC right away instead of suicide out, giving you even less points.

  • Bamboozle is required on all my M1 killers. It's very much worth the slot space. Faster vaulting plus shutting down almost every obnoxious triple vault loop? Yes please.

The gravy is the survivor reactions. One survivor spinning on the other side of a windowed wall waiting for the killer to run around, and instead having the killer blast through the window at them. Another when a survivor tries to max out looping the shack only to run into the blocked window and either having to take a shot to the face, forced to burn the pallet and run, or both.

  • None. Not worth the cost, even on discount.
