  • > Too many pallets, too many windows

Correct me if I'm wrong the majority of maps have very few pallets and windows, and those with lots are very unsafe pallets/windows. Coming from the dude yesterday where I had a blood lodge match with the FunBus™ into a Long Wall, Shack into Long Wall, and about 6 safe filler pallets in the middle of the map.

There are serious issues in the game. Right now, pallet amounts aren't one.

Tbh that bugs me so much. Like it’s low key homophobic since they only do it cause he’s a big muscle man and they wanna make “UwU cute gay ships!” It’s just blatant fetishization rather than any real reason and kinda gross

I'm sorry if you think me being attracted to David is homophobic when I'm literally gay idk what to tell you.

If you try telling me Kingfield is homophobic imma have to show you the door.

  • I mean, we've been complaining about spirit since her second set of buffs and even that one nerf she got didn't exactly change much.

Could we just rework spirit instead of slinger first? Please? She's so much worse to deal with.

its been ther like 3 or 4 times already. and by this time almost everyone has the perk lol, i would like to see newer perks... not the old ones tbh- im still waiting for inner strenght since i hate nancy and i dont want to waste money on her.

Damn imagine thinking absolutely zero new players at all whatsoever have started playing since the last time bbq was on the shrine.

  • Dead Hard works a bit like grabs.

In terms of how it works as confirmed by Peanits, both are buggy because they're checked twice, a remnant of old P2P gameplay. Basically:

    • You input your DH/Grab
    • The server checks to see if it's possible.
    • If it isn't possible, the server returns that as a grab cancel/dying survivor. This happens almost insantly.
    • If it is possible, the server then sends a message to the other player's client (for Dead Hard, to the killer, for grabs, to the survivor).
    • Then, the other player's client sends another check to ensure the grab/dead hard is still possible. This takes some time.
    • If it is still possible, Dead Hard dodges and you grab the survivor.
    • If it isn't possible you get the awful grab cancel/exhausted on the ground.

Server-sided hit validation wouldn't have fixed this because it wasn't designed to fix this. Dead Hard/Grabs need to be re-coded, which has been confirmed by the devs as something they're looking into.

David King is actually non-binary and prefers to be referred to as they/them obviously. Sometimes is gender fluid and pansexual and more often asexual but not often.

This is about the worst attempt of mockery of non-binary, pansexual, asexual, and genderfluid individuals I think I've ever seen. If you're going to force your opinions here (that have nothing to do with the OP) please at least be original so I can mock you for being wrong in original ways. Thanks.

What about the thumbs up/down button? Does it do anything atm? I could see this also being abused, but less impactful. What about maybe an optional thumbs up, then? It could even encourage better sportsmanship if incentivized by maybe limited cosmetics or shards 🤷‍♀️

Thumbs up I'm not sure of, however depending on what type of report depends on what else you need to do. Chat reports you only need to report for, whist hacking reports you need to provide extra proof to DBD support.

What difference it will make from current state? Demo always have spare teleport to use, because survivors cleanse them as soon as they can. So Demo can just open new portal from where he is.

Not necessarily. Plenty of games where demo's dont place great portals survivors just don't close them, and make them redudent. Additionally, you have to waste a portal by placing it where, say, no gens could be, to make it back to the side of the map with your portals on to defend it better. With this change you could hook someone in a dead zone, then teleport to the side of the map with all your portals on and have all 6 (up to 8) able to be used to properly defend that side of the map, instead of 5-7 or 4-6.

    Every little helps, after all.

  • this is getting kinda close to the bottom so have another bump up

  • Instead of removing the cooldown, I think allowing Demo to teleport to any set portal on the map from anywhere on the map, regardless of if there's a portal there or not, would be a tremendous buff for him.

  • Damn Scott do be spitting facts doe

  • Even if I get facecamped every game and my teammates can't do anything, cross play is the best thing that has ever happened to dbd because I get to play with my friends and I asked out my bf in a dbd game. (I'm on PC, got friends on PS4, switch, and xb1).

  • Survivor perk

    Catch Me If You Can-

After stunning the killer or performing a rushed vault, Catch Me If You Can activates.

For the next 3 seconds, all scratch marks, loud noise notifications, and pools of blood will appear in the opposite direction as to your location, reletive to the activation spot of Catch Me If You Can.

Catch Me If You Can has a cooldown of 80/70/60 seconds.

"Come on #########; catch me if you can."

    Killer Perk

    Preparation-

It's always best to prepare for a hunt.

For the first 90/110/130 seconds of the trial, gain the ability to weaken standing pallets.

Weakened pallets will break immidiately upon being dropped, however will still stun the killer.

Imagine if a cosmetic was designed with David King wearing that thong - everyone would be fine with it.

    Lmao.

It all comes down to personal taste. I'd switch out David on your list (and add minotaur Oni). And I'd add quite some females to the list, bc I'm confused af about my sexuality :p

I for one can't wrap my head around why people find David attractive. He's got a nice bod, but that's about it.

P.S. Kinda glad people find Felix so attractive, boosts my ego just a little bit 😉😏

He looks like a slightly older, chad version of me, lmao. Some of his facial features are identical to mine wheres some differ slightly. Also I have that exact same hairstyle although I'm not blonde XP

Exactly personal taste (also please note I was listing characters I know people find attractive, I'm not personally attracted to Demo- but PH can torment me any day :p)

  • I mean, I'm gay as #########, but I really don't see it in Felix. David, Trapper, Wraith, Dwight, even ######### Demo; I can see why people would like all of em but I just don't see it in Felix.

  • @Yamaoka said:

You're referring to that contest winner skin right? I would be surprised if they added the skin without the thong just because it's a sexual aspect when we literally have half naked David King in the game.

3/4 naked, he got shorts UwU

  • Honestly stealth is a massive killer for him too so I'd suggest getting good at not being found

  • give me speedo david and we good uwu

  • If you've been getting this issue facing PC players then turn off cross-play and see if the issue persists. If that's the case maybe there's something horribly wrong with BHVR servers.

  • i keep taking sarcasm as fact that at this point i should just rename myself to "took the bait" lmao

  • There are so many games you could use to display how these are unfair yet you use a game with 3 escapes?

It's like when people try and show survivors are OP and then it ends in a 3-4k.

I get it might not have been particularly fun to deal with but if you wanna make a point, use evidence that actually supports your point, please.

Nurse CAN BE by far the most devastating killer... If the player has put in the countless hours and also has a natural aptitude for her. However the majority of nurses I see are decent at best and easily countered. If you don't have the blink timing down to a science and the muscle memory then she's crippled by her speed and cool down.

The hag is countered by crawling... Deathslinger is countered by using line of sight breakers and most easily countered by not running a swf savior mentality. Do gens... Don't follow the killer hoping to stun him or body block him. He is lethal 1v1 which is how ALL killers should be. Do gens, time your rescues, don't rely on BT or DS for fancy saves instead of the anti tunnelling they were designed for.

If the meta of SWF wasn't to bully the killer then people wouldn't dislike deathslinger. Period.

I ######### despise deathslinger and my entire playstyle (during solo) relies on stealth (I say during solo because during SWF it's just us all throwing the game 9/10 for a laugh). I don't want to bully the killer, I want to hide in a corner for half the game. Still hate slinger though.

  • Doesn't this question get asked like every month? Still?

Welcome to our Designer Notes, a series of blogposts presenting the fine details of upcoming design changes. Today, we’ll be going over the first update of 2020, which includes changes to The Doctor, the Gatekeeper Emblem, and Hex: Ruin.

    DOCTOR UPDATE

In the next mid-chapter update, we will be changing core elements of The Doctor's gameplay. He's been a polarizing figure since his release, and we felt it was time to revisit his kit with an eye to making it less frustrating to play against him. We will keep his core identity as a Killer who shocks people with electricity and causes them to go insane, suffering several different kinds of afflictions and hallucinations. Some of his abilities and most of his add-ons will get an update pass.

We identified a major source of irritation to be his Static Field. The problem is that The Doctor gets periodic notifications of Survivors' locations in his Terror Radius due to their Madness levels increasing passively. It's the lack of action needed on the part of The Doctor to find nearby Survivors that makes it feel annoying to play against. With that in mind, the update centers around removing Static Field and replacing it with another ability.

The new ability replacing Static Field is called "Static Blast"; this is mapped to the Active Ability button. After charging the ability for a short duration, it releases a blast of static electricity throughout The Doctor’s entire Terror Radius. Any Survivors caught in the area of effect are shocked causing them to scream and acquire an amount of Madness. If their Madness level increases, they also reveal their location to The Doctor as usual.

While charging Static Blast, The Doctor's movement is significantly reduced, and the ability has a long cooldown. The idea behind the design of Static Blast is to make it powerful as a location tool, but very difficult to use while in a chase, hence the limitations on its use.

As Shock Therapy and Static Blast are now linked to separate inputs, we've removed the different Treatment and Punishment stances to improve the gameplay flow. The Doctor's base movement speed is still 4.6 m/s (the "regular" movement speed for most Killers), but he can now use Shock Therapy more easily as he doesn't have to switch stances to gain access to it. So we've added a brief pause after using Shock Therapy before he can attack or use another ability.

One last thing we've addressed is the frustration of using Snap Out Of It to drop from Madness level III to Madness level II. After the update, missing a skill check during Snap Out Of It will cost the player 25% of their progress instead of resetting it entirely. Also, if they stop the interaction before it's complete, they will not lose their progress and will continue from where they left off on the next attempt.

    HEX: RUIN AND GATEKEEPER UPDATE

The upcoming mid-chapter update will also include a major overhaul to Hex: Ruin, and an associated update to the Gatekeeper Emblem. Recent data show that Hex: Ruin is used in over 80% of all games in the red ranks, and across the entire userbase it appears in about 45% of all games.

We took a close look at the perk to identify what makes it so frustrating to play against. Three key issues were identified:

    1. Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better.
    2. The passive nature of the gameplay pressure it provides means that there is a huge amount of potential with very little effort or risk on behalf of The Killer.
    3. Its inconsistency due to the random nature of the appearance interval of skill checks.

We also looked carefully to see how it functions as part of a Killer's loadout. Beyond the obvious desire to slow down generator repair, Hex: Ruin functions as one of the very few perks effective as slowing generator repair in the first couple of minutes of the Trial. This is important to Killers' rankings because the Gatekeeper Emblem highly rewards keeping as many of the 7 generators incomplete as they can for as long as possible.

Because Hex: Ruin is one of the few tools a Killer has for getting an Iridescent Gatekeeper Emblem, the update needed to respect that. Just a straight-up nerf without considering the consequences for that Emblem wouldn't be a good plan. So before getting into the Hex: Ruin change, let's go over the Gatekeeper Emblem.

Currently, Gatekeeper's underlying points are scored as a number of points per generator remaining to be repaired multiplied by which minute the match is in. Additional points are scored for any remaining generators at the end of the Trial. This provides much less of a reward to a Killer who loses three gens quickly, but then doggedly keeps the last few until the end of the match.

The new version of Gatekeeper is simpler: one point is scored per generator remaining to be repaired per minute for the first nine minutes. At the end of the Trial, if both Exit Gates remain closed, additional points are scored. With less focus on keeping seven generators up, we can move on and change Hex: Ruin without making it significantly harder for Killers to do well in Gatekeeper.

The new Hex: Ruin is simple:

All Generators are affected by Ruin; if a Generator is not being worked on, it regresses at [1/1.5/2] times the normal regression rate.

The Hex effect persists as long as the related Hex Totem is standing.

This version of the perk has many benefits:

    • Survivors who are working on generators are unaffected as the perk no longer affects Skill Checks.
    • Killers must be active in pushing Survivors off generators to get value from it.
    • It is less useful in the early game, but very useful in the late game. Survivors now have a more interesting choice about when it is necessary to find and cleanse the Hex Totem.

The changes outlined above, along with the Lery’s Memorial Institute rework, are slated for the mid-chapter update and will be available to test on the Player Test Build (PTB) starting tomorrow. Please be sure to let us know what you think once you’ve had a chance to try them out!

She is also rarely ever seen. so nobody has a reason to complain.

Flashlight... seriously? just happen to have a flashlight and somehow see a brown trap on brown dirt during a chase?

    People don't complain about nurse?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

She was the most bitched about killer for 3 years to the point streamers openly demanded their audience DC against her. Nobody complains about nurse now because NOBODY PLAYS HER.

Billy just got gutted and from what i have seen hardly anyone plays him either. I can count on one hand the amount of billys i saw while doing my rift tasks, and yes i am in red ranks.

Everyone complains about iri huntress, other than that you can waste a crap tone of her time as she is exceptionally map dependent and can't do much around tall loops if you play smart as survivor.

Well then I guess we're completely different there. Yeah hag traps aren't actually that hard to see and I'm blind as a bat.

People don't complain about current nurse, no. And current nurse can still end the game in a matter of seconds. She's still incredibly strong.

Billy hasn't been gutted and I've seen plenty of them.

  • @Zozzy said:

If hag was meta and showed up in 40% of peoples games then yeah they would be here crying to.

Hag has constant, consistent counterplay that's actually entertaining. Crouching, OoO, Flashlights to name a few, and she encourages a more cautious playstyle. That's why nobody comes for her, combine that with the difficulty she has actually being played to her maximum capabilities and yeah, people don't complain.

Like people don't complain about Billy. Or Nurse. Or Huntress (they complain about the servers). Or Oni. But they do about Slinger and Spirit. If we all wanted easy games why would we complain about Slinger, one of the weaker killers, and not anyone else?

  • @voorheesgt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1562317#Comment_1562317

So... Nerf every killer that has any kind of ranged attack to counter looping. Oh, except the nurse because she's actually slower than survivors and has long cooldowns for her anti looping... sounds like some survivors spent too long learning 1 surefire way to play and win, and now they lobby for nerfs rather than adapt.

Whatever floats your boat man but if you think Nurse isn't the strongest killer in the game and can decimate teams in seconds then sorry you're just wrong lol

Hag is stronger than slinger people don't complain. You have to play around her differently too. Please just stop.

I'm glad someone else likes the name lol

  • I'd suggest submitting this to the "Technical Issues" section of the forums.

  • this thread is actually popping up every day so i actually need an "Obligatory daily discordance post". Why do you do this to me?

Like @Aven_Fallen has said, devs have confirmed it's on their list of things to do, to make the best of both worlds.

As it stands though, I prefer T3 to T1. I hate the constant noise, it makes tracking harder for me, my anxiety spike, and I can't deal with it. At least on T3 it makes the noise tolerable. If it was just swapped then ######### me gently with a chainsaw I guess because I'm never ever using that perk again. At least as it is, if people want T1 they'll often be able to have it (not all the time I'm aware because the bloodweb is a #########).

  • Here's mine:

    image.png

I ranked these based on how much fun they are to play, to play against, or both, to me, with a few exceptions (mainly Pig).

Firstly, Trapper. He's very fun to face, the constant feeling of paranoia of just "aaaaAAAA is there a trap" is amazing and makes the game feel so much more tense. Additionally, he's the icon of DBD, and so should stay.

Next, Wraith. I stan my bing bong boi, he's adorable, and amazing fun to play and to face. He might not be the best but seeing someone uncloak the yeet themselves around a corner and get you, that feels fair and fun and "oh ######### he can do that too??". It's such a blast.

Bubba. He's amazing to play but I haven't faced enough to make a decision on if he's fun to face or not. What I do know is seeing him chainsaw at you from like 30m away and getting closer and you just going "oh ######### oh ######### oH #########" is hilarious.

Freddy. My main man, love him to death. Pretty fun to face imo, when they play like normal people not ForeverFreddy:tm: or haha tunnel go brrr, and so much fun to play. Mained him for coming up 3 years, still love playing the character, and BHVR did a great job with his rework tbh.

Pig. She's pretty good to face from my experience but I haven't played as her enough to say if she's fun to play or nah. Honestly I mostly kept her for Cheers since he loved to play as her and told me she was amazing fun, so imma trust his judgement lol.

Pyramid Head. Reading him correctly can be amazing (this only goes for bad ones) and otherwise managing to stealth around all game is also amazing fun (hi I main Blendette). To play he's more fun than Freddy in my opinion provided you go for risky plays. Just sticking to the same old boring sword in ground, haha I win ain't that good but predicting where people will run based on past experiences in chases and guessing correctly for a well-timed Punishment is so ######### amazing. I love this killer to death and I'll stand by this till the day he gets changed.

Now we got Nurse. Despite her double cooldowns and how sick she used to make me she's still actually fun to play. 1 blink Nurse with Matchbox, bamboozle, endfury, and fire up is surpringly effective (because who expects endfury on a nurse lol) and even with 2 blinks she can be fun (just gotta stack double recharge for the best time). To face she feels great from my experience, so long as they're playing for fun. Facing a Nurse who kills the entire team in 0.2 seconds with Infectious is just boring, but hey at least it isn't Spirit.

Hag. She can be ######### monstrous in the right hands, but I'm not really the best hag player so sometimes she does feel very boring to me. Other times, however, when I predict correctly and get the trap placement just right she's almost as fun as PH to play. To face she's terrifying; she gives me the same paranoia as Trapper with 30x the strength. Just so long as it's a good hag, not a hag that uses all 10 traps around a hooked survivor.

Huntress. This is mainly going for a huntress on good internet, but she's very fun to face imo. Everything always feels fair (again, good internet being specified) and I enjoy going against her. I don't like playing her but that's because I don't know how hatchets work yet. If I put in the time I'd love it.

Demo. He's a good boy and deserves all the head pats. His power feels fair and fun, he can zone well but not too well like PH and there are some loops you can run him on where he can't shred, some he can shred amazingly well. Basically demo is just a fun killer.

Doctor and Clown- I put these two together cause their counters in chase are to just pre-drop pallets. Add to that that I'm a blendette main and Doctor removes stealth and he makes me feel sad.

James- James is so much fun to face but he's mostly here because I didn't want to axe anyone else above out. Sorry James.

    Legion- It's legion. Moving on.

Myers- I just don't like facing him. I hate having to rely on my teammates to not give a killer their power and I hate how he can 99 off of the Claudette self caring, oblivious to the world, then come to me, pop his t3, and one-shot me instantly. This happens 3 times in a game, because of course it does, and I'm just there like "guess i should've swfed huh".

Billy. He's like James, I didn't want to axe him out but I couldn't think of who to swap him for. Sorry Billy.

Plague- She's just kinda boring ngl. It's either remove all stealth and be one-shot for the game or make her super-buffed Huntress. Just not the most entertaining thing in the world, but she's tolderable. She'd be in stay if I had room for her. Sorry Plague.

Oni. I hate him. I hate everything about him. I hate the way he looks, sounds, walks, acts, is related to spirit, all his cosmetics (except minotaur that's sick I'll give BHVR that one lol). I hate how he plays, I hate how he plays against, I hate relying on teammates to not get hit because of course we have a ######### meg who throws down shack pallet and still gets mindgamed on it. I hate everything about Oni and there's only 1 killer I hate more. At least playing Slinger is fun but Oni is just p a i n.

Deathslinger- I hate facing him, I hate how he's basically a stealth killer, I hate his ability to ADS and oh guess I should've reacted better to the ######### speeding towards me at the speed of sound to give me some pretty bad anal. But at least playing him and landing some amazingly predicted, charged shots is fun.

Spirit- I don't know where to begin with this #########. I have such a burning hatred of this killer I can't even put it into words. She's the definition of unfair and if I could remove a single killer from the game it'd be her in a heartbeat; I wouldn't even need to think about it. Spirit is the worse designed killer in Dead By Daylight and I will stand with this opinion till the day she gets changed.

Thanks for coming to my TEDTalk.

  • I've seen plenty of nurse players camp but never a nurse main. If a nurse main wants to win in seconds she can. They're what I like to call Sally Slugson players and they'll just slug everyone with Infectious and one hook them and game over in seconds. They don't need to facecamp because they're so good that they can end a chase faster than you can say "#########".

The perk is fine. I'm getting a little tired of the selfish comments about its use - it isn't for you. Nor is Zanshin Tactics, nor is Windows of Opportunity. It is a training perk and should be treated as such. Is is stupid that it's coming out on a DLC character? Yes, but they all are on DLC characters. Just because they are worthless to you doesn't make them worthless.

However, would this change (allowing you to determine repair progress based on the intensity of their auras within a, say, 16m/24m/32m range, and then removing the cooldown of the perk) remove it's use as a training wheel perk? I think it'd be only beneficial- it retains the ability to provide much needed information to newer players whilst also becoming an invaluable solo-q perk.

  • I remember that someone earlier made a thread on how to increase FPS on PS4 and PS4 Pro and I wish I could find it to see if you'd commented on it already. Basically you can change your resolution to 720p instead of 1080p, and do something else that I can't completely remember, to give a smooth 20-30fps, sometimes even hitting 40, instead of going into a Powerpoint Presentation whenever you breathe in the wrong way.

Okay, first off, none of the "techs" you mentioned are of any use against even a Wraith or Trapper. They exist to bully noobs, something you can easily achieve against a Slinger.

That being said, he is a ridiculously low-counterplay killer and there's nothing really to be done about that. The game needs the variety that 110 killers bring, but nerfing his power would force him to be a 115 killer.

I feel like they could nerf his oppressiveness in-chase at the cost of letting him shoot onto walls and grapple himself closer to them at a fast speed (and could then tap m1 to break the chain, and need to reload) and make him 115% too. Increase his general map pressure but make the 1v1 more fair and fun, a bit closer to Huntress. I'd enjoy facing him a whole lot more if I didn't just get quickscoped every bloody time; I remember in a KYF once against one of my friends and he'd spend time aiming and lining up his shots perfectly, there was even a sound queue to show he was aiming at you! It was amazing fun and I wish that was the optimal way to play as Slinger because taking time to make the perfect shot is great fun to do and to face.

Of course threads like this wont get any attention.. :/

They never do; negativity is what draws our attention first and positivity second.

It's why the news is always so negative- bad press sells better than good press.

  • If you don't like them don't buy them. The best thing you can do as a consumer is to pay with your wallet.

    Welcome to capitalism, I guess?
