Funny how if a killer is good, they're 'unfun'. But if a killer is bad they're 'fun to play against'. Yeah he's fun to play against because he's trash
Ah so Nurse, Billy, Huntress, Hag are all bad killers? Gotchu :D

There is an ever growing percentage of survivors that simply put are unbeatable. With the survivor meta, their skills, and the generator speed, you flat can't win unless you're a godlike nurse. They are the problem because you need strong killers to beat them, but they're also training killers to be near unstoppable against anything but the best.
I'm not entirely sure how that's related to me saying that the complaints have always been there, op just hasn't been paying attention, but okay.

In total I only remember seeing one deathslinger hate thread. Plenty more for spirit though.
Survivors are complaining about slinger because Scott complained about him. Some people genuinely do not like slinger which is fine, but if Scott didn't complain then there wouldn't be even half of the slinger hate threads were seeing now. 100% survivors are taking advantage of this.
I'm actually surprised how they managed to make Scott's opinion look like fact when he clearly states that it's his opinion.
Well trust me, I know plenty of people who've been complaining about him since release. Just because they're not on the forums doesn't mean they don't exist.
And Spirit has had complaints since she got her 2nd set of buffs, and those complaints have continued up to the present. They didn't come out of nowhere and they still haven't come out of nowhere, and they're not likely to go anywhere either.
People have always been complaining, you've just never realised (and complaining with valid points not "ClOwN iS fAsTeR tHaN aLl OtHeR kIlLeRs BhVr NeRf ClOwN aNd FiRe Up PlEaSe")

Bold of you to assume we haven't been saying to nerf Deathslinger and Spirit for ages and the devs didn't just decide to nerf Billy out of nowhere. Nobody complained about Billy. Everybody complained and still complains about Slinger and Spirit.
You're just noticing them now.
Huntress is strong, people complain about her when they get hit around 3 walls because of the servers. Not about her at all.
Nurse is unbelievably strong, but she at least still feels semi-fair.
Billy is still strong and is still fair.
Hag is ######### broken in the right hands yet nobody complains about her either.
If we all wanted easy games, why wouldn't we still be coming for Nurse and Billy, as well as going for Hag and Huntress too? Why is it Spirit and Deathslinger, especially when Slinger isn't even regarded as that good because he lacks in map pressure?

It actually is helpful since none of the killers other than Spirit are totally invisible when they are Undetectable. Because if the icon is off then you know you are looking in the wrong direction to see them and can turn until the icon is lit so you’ll always know what direction to face to spot them. It’s much harder for them to come at you from behind.
It's harder for them to do so, yes, but still not impossible, especially if the map has plenty of LOS blockers.
@MadLordJack said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1561376#Comment_1561376
Yes, it is super helpful, because you can move your camera around and know exactly where they are in your FoV. It's almost like Whispers, but for survivor. Or reverse Spine Chill. You know exactly where the killer is coming from, and if you have any game sense you also know when you should leave the gen. It isn't as strong as it used to be, and still is against Freddy, but it is still the strongest info perk in the game even against stealth killers. Better than Spine Chill.
The killer is still able to constantly move though, and so you have to be doing that each second. Especially on maps with plenty of LOS blockers, it's often a hindrance rather than a help, and imo Spine Chill is better.
Also facing it as Freddy is actually pretty fun imo, especially if I have a blindness add-on equipped.

Ah yes, I know if the killer is in... My Fov.
Very helpful.

Okay hi heres my freddy build for a fun time (for you anyway).
Save The Best For Last
Pop Goes The Weasel
Surge
Surveillance
For add-ons, you want to combine any two of Nancy's Sketch, Nancy's Masterpiece, Jump Rope, the yellow Rope, or Swing Chains. It's suggested you go one Nancy's one Rope/Chains.
Or if you want blood points swap out STBFL for Bbq.
If you wanna see this build in action let me know and I'll try and record some footage for you

I mean spirit has lot of problems with her kit, her synergy with stridor isn't the first thing I'd take care of tbh. Also if you nerf stridor just becuase of her synergy with one killer means it will be played even less then ot already is on other killers.
Oh I'd agree. Spirit has so many issues that need to be fixed imo, stridor being one of them. I'd rather they change her entire kit and give her a full rework.

Hes supposed to be strong in the 1v1. You aren't going to be able to loop him forever. And that is exactly what survivors want, maybe not necessarily to bully killers but they want to win games easily of course. Any killer that makes that harder to do, "boring".
Ah damn guess that's why I love facing nurse and Billy and a Huntress with functioning Internet cause I think they're really weak and I can loop them for ages not because I think they're pretty balanced in the 1v1 and still have great map pressure to let them slow the games down isn't it, cause I just want ez wins bby killer

Yes, Huntress requires aim and thought put into her. When taken to high levels, she is completely oppressive. Yes I know that you are not a Huntress main. When I mention that a killer can be looped, I mean that they are required to break safe pallets.
Imagine thinking huntress doesn't need to break safe pallets.
-
@ZaKzan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1561226#Comment_1561226
Huntress is the strongest killer in the same way that Nurse is one of the strongest killer. Huntress can negate most loops in the game, Huntress can also zone players. Huntress is entirely consistent at higher levels of play. Hag is limited by the range of her traps, Billy still needs to loop survivors, Freddy still needs to loop survivors, Spirit still needs to loop survivors, Oni still needs to loop survivors.
With Huntress, all you do is wind up your hatchet to zone the survivor and keep them from running to stronger tiles, then you take it down and move into the weaker area you just zoned them into. Deathslinger can also do this. Killers that negate the geometry of the game are the strongest killers, despite their mobility. It's probably best that you base your opinions on actually playing and playing against killers, rather than rely on what other people have to say.
Oh damn we got a lot to unpack here lol.
The difference between Huntress, and Nurse and Sprirt, is that Nurse and Spirit can travel around the map quickly. They're both even more oppressive in a chase, and with spirit you sometimes don't even need to do anything to win because standing still is fun (but that's an argument for another day).
Hag being limited by the range of her traps doesn't change the fact that a good hag will end chases in literal seconds.
Freddy's ability to end chases quickly, combined with built-in game stall and massive map mobility means that any gen setup can be a 3 gen for him, and his chases still end incredibly quickly.
Billy's need to be looped is made up for with the fact he can insta-down out of position survivors and that he still shuts down loops quickly through curving. Add into the fact he has the fastest movement speed in the game (with The Blight actually equalling that speed but incredibly limited with how he can use it) for, you guessed it, map pressure.
Deathslingers can be rushed into oblivion because their power is very strong (and fun amiright) in a 1v1 and yet their map pressure is non-existent.
Oni is better than Huntress because once he has his power he snowballs faster than you can say "crap" and usually getting a single m1 isn't too difficult because someone will always be out of position unless they all have object.
Thinking that with huntress, all you need to do is wind, is wrong. You need to wind, predict, aim, and know how hatchets both arc and how they collide. Additionally you move slower while winding so survivors make so much distance by just running and looking to see when you throw. Not to mention the very loud audio queues and obvious vidual queues she's going to yeet.
"Killers that negate the geometry of the game are the strongest killers, despite their mobility"
So then tell me why Pyramid Head isn't considered strongest despite his ability to ignore everything survivors can do, hit through walls, and negate pallet and flashlight saves?
"It's probably best that you base your opinions on actually playing and playing against killers, rather than rely on what other people have to say."
Oh honey. Oh honey no. Oh honey please tell me you didn't just go there. Oh honey oh no oh no oh no.
I have over 1,800 hours in the game, split equally between survivor and killer. I started playing in November 2017. I only have so few because I'm still in the education system so can't play this game 24/7. For the last year I've been playing enough to get rank 1 consistently since about a week into the season and stay in ranks 1-2 for the rest of the time. For about 2 years I'd be a survivor main (though honestly I'd never use ds because I hated facing it) and now I'm a killer main because solo survivor is literal ######### torture.
So please, don't assume that I don't play the game. Thank you for your time,
Check yourself before you wreck yourself,
Sincerely a rank 1 Freddy, Pyramid Head, and Wraith main
Xoxo
(oh btw if you need some proof that I play just ask, got some people on here who've seen me go :3)
Ps: Huntress still needs to loop survivors x

The playerbase has not stabilized, past 30 days has a ~2500 player decrease. DBD got about 15000 players during covid. These players are still in the phase where they're not experiencing DBD as it truly is. I'll explain to you what player retention is and how certain game companies (that usually don't last very long) market their games around low skilled play. The game is meant to be very shiny when you first get it, lots of licensed killers and survivors. The way DBD is marketed is that you're supposed to buy the base game, probably for $10 on sale, then buy a couple dlcs and maybe a couple cosmetics before you quit.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1559715#Comment_1559715
Huntress is the strongest killer in the game, barring a couple maps, and is incredibly oppressive at higher levels. Peanits doesn't need to loop survivors and he even has enough power to partially negate windows. So him being a Huntress main actually takes away his experience on balance issues in this game. I'm one of the top Deathslinger players in the world, based on speared downs, and I play a lot of Huntress also, whenever I don't balance my ranged killer play with normal killers, I become very bad at the game, and very bad at judging how much time I have to catch up to to a survivor before they make it to a strong tile. Having to actually put dead hard and sprint burst into chase calculations makes the regular killers much harder to play. Also being a killer main, and only a community manager, I doubt much of his input on killer balance is listened to by the people that are balancing the game.
"Huntress is the strongest killer in the game barring a couple maps"
Okay ngl I stopped reading right here because of how wrong this statement is.
Huntress is not the strongest killer in the game.
Nurse exists. Hag exists. Billy exists. Freddy exists. Spirit exists. Arguably Oni exists.
There is no way huntress is the strongest killer in the game, even on maps like Blood Lodge because Nurse and Spriitt are still better and yet are 80x more consistent on every other map and when they spawn indoors don't instantly immediately ######### die.
-
Ah damn I use DS and Iron Will together and I think NOED is a ######### perk guess I just haven't played since 2017

Yes the game released June 2016.
-
I really dislike Whispers tbh. I don't find that much value from it, because I can find more value in other perks. I got some pretty ######### hearing too so having the noise being made in the background does actually hinder my tracking too (which is bad enough as is lol). I just dislike the perk, and I find that I can get more value from, say, BBQ, I'm All Ears, Nurse's, etc.
-
I wanna introduce whataboutism here but in a positive way.
Not only do I want to make sure that we shoutout the nice killers, but the nice survivors. Those who see that killers are struggling and, either in-game will "mess up" to give people downs or hooks or hits, or who give feedback in end-game chat like "Yo, Pyramid Head, you wanna tip".
Can we just shoutout everyone who's wholesome in this community because we need more positivity. <3
-
Okay when I said I'd need a weekly "Fix discordance" thread counter I wasn't being serious.
@Almo has confirmed Discordance is being changed to ensure that it keeps the best of both worlds.
Also it's a matter of personal taste. I refer T3 over T1 because hearing that many notifications sends me panicking and my anxiety spiking and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa whilst at least with T3 it's a lot less frequently. Many people like DOWSEY also prefer T3 over T1.

I don't know about you, but legitimate infinites, as in the past, where it was literally impossible to catch up with the survivor, was insanely unbalanced. Giving survivors a maximum of 4 minutes of invulnerability for them to do whatever they want is also extremely unbalanced. Then to compound that, for some odd reason, the algorithm that determines tile strength doesn't take into account adjacent tiles, so you can get 5 minute loops on some maps, and you still even get double pallets albeit very rarely. So with all survivors running the meta perks, combined with one of these map layouts, survivors can get a good 9 minutes of free time. Then there's a plethora of maps that encourage survivors to use the strongest tool they have in their arsenal, their W key.
I wish there was a word to describe how unbalanced it is in the english language without using multiple adjectives, but there isn't. Not really an opinion, I mean I'm sure it looks fine on a spreadsheet, but when you actually play the game, most especially at the highest levels, things are a bit different.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/QV8JOUG76MNX/untitled.jpg
There's probably a pretty good reason why the DBD population was up and down there before it got the covid injection. When you're gaining thousands of players and then losing thousands of players, there's probably a problem with player retention. A PvP game with good player retention is usually a game more favorably balanced towards higher skilled players.

New Survivor: karuma "karu" eichh
A determined believer
I really don't know about some lore since I'm still young and in college lol, apologies.
Perks
- Determination
You've always been determined to hold onto hope, no matter the chances.
Gain a 30/40/50% bonus to repair, healing, recovery, and sabotage speed. For each survivor remaining in the trial, this bonus is reduced by 10%.
Additionally, if you are the only survivor remaining in the trial, gain the ability to recover fully from the Dying State.
- Antagonism
Your hatred of the killer fuels your antagonistic nature, and you love to taunt those you dislike.
Whilst being within 20m of the killer, press the Active Ability button to cause a loud noise notification at your location. For the next 10 seconds, your grunts of pain are reduced by 100% and you leave no scratch marks or pools of blood. Afterwards, your grunts of pain are increased by 50%, and you bleed considerably more frequently for 8 seconds.
Antagonism has a cooldown of 100/90/80 seconds.
- Confusion
You've always had a way with lies.
After vaulting a window or pallet, or stunning the killer with a locker or pallet, all scratch marks appear in the opposite direction as to where you're running for 3 seconds. During this time, gain the ability to see your own scratch marks.
Confusion has a cooldown of 60/50/40 seconds.
-
Thisd be cool but I'd rather just be able to buy people cells directly ngl

We have been hard at work creating a fix for Error Code 112 (sync error), and we have a potential fix ready for testing. Since this issue only happens to certain people, we want to make sure it is working properly before we push it out for everyone.
We are looking for volunteers!
In order to ensure that everything goes smoothly, we are looking for volunteers who:
- Regularly experience error code 112 (sync error).
- Play the game on Steam.
- Are available tomorrow (August 20th) to play the game.
If you are interested, please leave a comment below.
We will select some of you and send you instructions on how to access a special build with the fix in place. You'll need to download a small update (around 200mb*) containing the fix, but the build is otherwise the same as the live version of the game. Then all you'll have to do is play the game as you normally would; you'll match up against players on the live the game as you normally would.
We'll also ask you (privately) for your Player ID so we're able to track the error code and ensure that it's fixed.
* Note: The update will be larger than 200mb if you are currently on the PTB.
Please do not apply if you do not experience this error.
As much as we appreciate your enthusiasm, we are specifically looking for people who experience this error in order to test the fix.
Thank you to anyone who volunteers!
it seems like they had a small test for people to try and fix error code 112. it would be a roughly 200mb update, and yesterday was the day theyd test it. clearly it worked and this might be the 112 fix.

also let's address OP here:
The last original, male survivor we got was Jeff. December 2018.
In the top 4 killers, 3 of them are females. Nurse, Spirit, Freddy, Hag (and you can argue about their order all you like). DBD is doing amazingly in terms of representation and forcing representation is nothing but harmful.

No it its absolutely fine now that I know you'll do it one time man go crazy with it. No problem when I saw your original post I felt so, so, so bad. My heart was in pain. I just felt that I should do something to help this guy out. Because No one should go through this alone, No one. And it may not seem like much but if it means that it helps ease the pain for someone, then that means a lot more to not only me but to that someone. I hope Cheers is doing well and I hope that I was able to help.
Being able to just sit here and read supportive messages and cry has, ironically, been really helpful.
I hope he's doing a-okay too. And he'll keep being okay forever.

For anyone who doesn't know what I mean, here's a breif summary. It's all about my
friendnow boyfriend (holy ######### I'm so lucky) @Cheers. He's been through so much, and I'm pretty sure we're reaching the end of his time with us. It's not about quitting the game; my man's dying.Cancer, in his lungs. He's been through chemo and surgery and everything but they found it too late. His best mate cheated on him with his (at the time) girlfriend, shagging and all. He's been through a bunch of other bullshit I'm not even sure I'm allowed to say, and now we're losing him.
I've known him for all of 2 days at this point. I didn't realise, through talking on the forums, how bad it had gotten. Only recently did we start dming and now I truly realise that I'm going to lose one of my friends. His last hope was a surgery yesterday, and it didn't work. All other alternatives are too costly for the chance they have of succeeding, and so come this Thursday he's giving away everything to his little brother and spending as much time as he can with family.
So, I wanted to make a tribute to him. To my boyfriend Cheers. In the only way I truly know how; long, emotional game forum posts.
He's funny, kind, and was a great friend in the short time I knew him (I'm going to make the most of these next 3 days). He was entertaining and kept my company during my recent wonderful idea to play 10 hours of DBD. He's been amazing whilst talking through these forums too on each other's walls, and I'm so, so glad I got to meet him. We played some games since the introduction of cross-play (joined by @Respectfulnancymain) and the bastard even stream sniped me once <3. Literally perfect lol.
Don't worry, he was facecamped.
I guess, my point here is I'm going to miss him. I'm going to miss him a lot. Despite how hard he fought, cancer claimed another victim, another one close to me, another person I care for. So, as much as I wish I could spend 30 years apologising for everything that happened in your life, Cheers, I'd rather appreciate the time I got left with you.
It's a shame we didn't know each other IRL, even though you don't live too far away in comparison to many other people I know. Trust me, if we did, I'm sure we'd have been friends for a long time before now. But as much as I regret not being able to hug you and be there for you properly in your final days, I want to show as much support for you as I physically, possibly can.
Cheers, you were a valued member of these forums. People here liked you and you didn't play toxic (except in those KYF matches lmao). You were fun to hang around. You were amazing. I won't forget about you, ever, so while you're up in Heaven or whatever afterlife there truly is, please don't forget about me either.
One day, I'll meet you. For real. And I'm giving you that hug. I ######### promise you.
I'm sorry your life is being cut so short, so soon. I hope you go out happy and I hope you go out knowing you're loved and valued and treasured by so many people. Remember one thing, "No matter how much you hate yourself, or how much you think you mean nothing, you do to at least one person." That one person, right now, is me; so please don't die feeling like you're alone.
I guess this is one of the last times I'll be able to make this joke.
So, one final time, here's a cheers to my friend Cheers. I don't know how much time you have left, but make it good. Go out happy for me, and I'll see you again.
I promise you, I'll see you again.
I'm never going to forget you.
so, yeah, any of those hugs are appreciated. even tho cheers is the cute one.
