Wow.... Still finding a way to get mad about removing her ability to proc "exposed" hits.
The people that do play her to a point of being lethal with her shouldn't have her nerf'd into f tier! Have you ever tried to use her? She's incredibly ineffective without DOZENS of hrs of practice.
I play both killer and survivor 75/25 respectively, but I'm excited to see the status updates for solo survivors. Even though it means I will get fewer kills, now the game isn't so unbearable for solos. Don't cry nurse into an unnecessary nerf aka deathslinger! He averaged 1.3 kills per game and got nerfed to oblivion based on the fact "he wasn't fun to verse" so he would EVENTUALLY wini 1v1 chases but it took so long it was a trade-off

I am not in any way a person that gets involved in any type of social movement or cause.
That being said it is not why most people assume, I have and always will have a "live happy and don't stop others from or judge others for living happy" mentality.
But as a person that just passively excepts all walks of life (exception being if you're living happy at the expense of others happiness), and doesn't actively engage one way or the other in the societal debates. This story was AMAZING because it did help you live happily because you knew if a character was made in with so many uncanny similarities to you... Then you knew people DID understand you. Which seems like something you needed some validation on to be happy.
This story may counter every argument on the community toxicity that's so widely claimed... I think one person finding a connection in game that helped them live happy beats 20,000 posts about how tilted people get in game.
And as someone whom usually avoids responding on social matters.
Thanks for sharing.

Feng has a fan base that will buy new cosmetics. It's been this way for years. So if they want to make all the improvements that everybody so often demands plus pay server fees, wages etc to support a game from 2016 that people like... Why not?
I get confused when the community gets mad about cosmetic distribution being unfair. Well I'd definitely put my cosmetics team on whomever based on statistics too. If only 3% of people use a character, then only 20% of those total people ever buy cosmetics it's definitely not the smartest business decision to make that character a whole Gucci line ya know.
Plus for the people that get behind saying is somehow biased against characters is ridiculous. They ARE fictional characters that are only diverse enough to claim that in the first place BECAUSE there isn't cultural bias in their team. If there was an inherent bias then that character wouldn't have been made.
It's smart business based on sales. But it keeps this aging game funded to stay relevant and running.

Nevermind it was a server issue. I just got my first chance to try it again this morning and it is fine now. I'll update this

True but to be fair a week ago the said that they are going to be changing how this prestige boost was gonna work that for every p1 before the system would give 2 more when it his live I think he made a follow-up vid about this the next day they said this
I knew this type of update was coming but heard that compensation would be calculated. I've not been actively playing for a couple months. So I just had faith in that until I saw that Dowsey video in my YouTube feed last night. So it seemed like I'd lose a perk tier (from 3 that I already had on all perks to 2) because he was frantic about 2 free p levels so I Hurried and p1'd everybody (except those I was using to collect bp to finish survivor levels) to not end up regressing

That's so odd. BHVR said that you wouldn't be losing anything by leveling up and prestiging that the system would be a catch-up one.
Does this mean that your P3's from before the update are P9 atm, and your P0's are P10 or higher?
I didn't bother prestiging anybody to 3. Cosmetic aren't important to me so after doing 2 killers to p1 when I was new, I didn't actively prestige anybody til last night. I just collected tons of addon's and offerings at 50+ levels for a couple years.

@Krazzik said:
I've seen multiple DBD content creators telling people to prestige everyone if they can before the update. I didn't because you still lost too much just for some extra prestige. Think I made the right call.
Oh you ABSOLUTELY did! The killers I forgot to prestige before bed (that I was using for bp) ended up at least p5 from p0 with nothing lost. The p1s only went to p3 and I lost everything because I freshly prestiged
-
@MilManson said:
Why would you listen to him of all people anyway
Idk. Seriously just panicked bc it was the night before the update. Thought I could potentially lose a full perk tier level on all my killers. Live n learn I guess☹️

@SekiSeki said:
Bummer, ask on the forums next time.
I will. I've just been on hiatus from the game a while. So I was aware of AN upcoming change but I saw that Dowsy vid kinda late yesterday so I speed read the notes and did it because I was worried all my killers would go to p2 with all tier 2 perks. And I already had all tier 3 perks on all my killers so I thought I'd get downgraded possibly.
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
Generally speaking, just have the opposite opinion of Dowsey and you will understand the game better. He says Sadako is A tier? You say D tier. Practice it in his next video.
Lesson learned...
I just feel really jipped. But I'm less mad then when I freshly posted.

Ah I get it, you were actually effectively level 150 or whatever on all your killers and then Prestiged them. Yeah, that’s unfortunate.
I guess I misunderstood. I've been on a break from the game for few months so I saw the video, read the upcoming patch notes and did it. I wasn't even trying to manipulate the system... I had plenty enough time invested to have all at p3 so I did it just to be sure they'd be at least p3 (if they ended up just gifting the 2 levels). Bad day man

@dugman said:

I’m not sure I follow how you were screwed out of “thousands of hours of gameplay” when you just said all but the two characters you didn’t prestige now have every teachable perk at level 3. Did they already have all those perks at level 3 when you Prestiged them? Because if not you literally went from having about 45 total perk levels per character to having about 240 total perk levels per character. It’s like 100 free bloodwebs worth of perks per character.
I stopped initially after 2. I had every killer at level 50+ with every perk at tier 3 but only 2 we're ever prestiged before yesterday. I Hurried and hit the prestige node last night on the rest (except a few I was using for bp to finish off a couple survivors to lvl 50). Now ALL the killers I rushed to p1 last night are only p3 the others that I left at p0 (accidentally) are much higher p levels. I knew prestiging would cost my item/add-ons/offerings but my issue is if I had not done it, all my killers would be much higher p levels (i know this because I have MANY MANY more hrs on some that I did p1 last night).
Edit: plus I still have all common (un-teachable) perks and my addon's items and offerings on the ones I left at p0

How are they P12? BHVR capped it at 9, or did you prestige them after the update again? 🤔
Also, I had some killers at P3, and some at P1, and they haven't lost anything after the update. Have you restarted your game to see if it's not just a bug?
I just checked it's p5 to p8 that I got for those. My bad but I looked at all in a row before I wrote my comment so I thought I saw a 12 at some point... But that doesn't change the point

I think in the video he did mention some exceptions may be chars you poured hours and hours of work into and they have tons of items and add-ons. You may have overlooked that. I played 5 games of survivor today and except one, all of them have been against blight or nurse. I know that Nurse just got enabled again but this is just ridiculous. I'm playing solo as well. I won 3 out of 4 (which was already a huge surprise) but I would like to just not play against the same 2 or 3 killers over and over. Am I the only one who noticed this? Maybe it's an idea to reward killers who play a killer that isn't played much by for example giving them more BP.
I'm a killer main myself but also play a lot of survivor. After playing 5 games of survivor I think I'm done for now. Please let me know if this is just me or if you also have the same thing but maybe with different killers.
That indicates 2 things... That survivors are playing incredible efficiently right now (possible MMR change?) And that killers are relying on the 2 strongest high skill cap killers to win. Of course this could be vice versa too. Maybe survivors are playing very efficiently due to stronger killers being used.

Yeah I just looked it up but even then she just doesn't need any skins. She's known with just her white dress, she's perfect, that's sadako we all know. You know what I mean?
The white dress is iconic enough. But that skin is amazing especially considering it's actual canon from the film. I wish more cosmetics were this dynamic while also representing the license.
-
Also introduced at roughly the same time.
-
Scourge hooks are the killer equivalent. They are strong, but they rely on the killer to proc instead of relying on survivors not finding/cleansing it.
-
@Erd69 said:
Why do you do it? Why do you add skins for licensed characters that aren't even in the movie? Look at what you did to ghostface, he has literal ice outfit and am I expected to get excited when I see him? It's dumb. Nemesis with his blighted outfit, why? You ruined his look from RE3. He should've gotten a skin from the older games but not a blighted one. I just really hope Michael Myers doesn't get a blighted skin because I thought dbd was a game where we have these horror icons but you're changing their appearance? Oh I'm going against sadako? Hell yeah, oh wait, what is that new skin she has? THAT'S NOT EVEN SADAKO. All I hope is for people to not buy these outfits because they completely change the characters look and makes a licensed character less worthy. I mean, would you have bought nemesis if his blighted skin was his default?
Don't remember much of Ringu, but it looks very reminiscent of the actual corpse of Samara found in the well in The Ring. Being that The Ring was a direct American version I assume the corpse was in Ringu too.

You might be unto something!
I don't have a ton of hours because I plays this since the epic games freebie and I do so casually, nowadays perhaps 2 to 3 hours a day, not every day, but I did play killers exclusively for the first months and it's only recently that I started with some "surviving".
And it's exactly the same. I'm very good at hiding right in the face of the killer but if it finds me, I just do a beeline to the nearest whatever. Rock, tree, building. If I happen to run into a loop or pallet I'm actually pretty decent at keeping the killer at bay for some time, but it's kinda rng based whether I will find one or not xD.
Maybe it's some kind of killer syndrome?
My wife and I even joke about it. When I tell her I'm gonna play dbd (which essentially means, "there is no pause, please don't ask me to take the trash out") she just asks if I'm gonna kill people or I'm just gonna get killed
I honestly think that's the problem then. As killer you learn to follow a single target in first person view via scratch marks. Chase music kind of deafens killer too. So if that's how you learn and play only that for a while it makes a third person hard. Especially when you depend on listening for a heartbeat and trying to see a faint red glow lol
-
@Chaos999 said:
I find it more stressful to play survivor, but that's because I suck at it and if the killers finds me I almost always get hit xD.
I prefer killer and play it almost exclusively (I only play survivor for the tome and rift stuff) and although it's more hectic it's also more relaxing for me.
I feel like the survivors have to know every map by memory and since I play casually that's not going to happen.
As killer I just have to worry about what the survivor in front of me is doing and how to game the tile or loop. I can see the gens. Let the survivors worry about where they are going, I just want to chase them.
Just curious. Did you happen to have a ton of killer hours before playing survivor?
I have the same issue of being able to avoid detection pretty well but if a chase starts I literally run into the open impulsively.
I used to play F13 the game and it randomly chose the killer (Jason) from the 8 person lobby.
I bought this game because I liked the idea of being able to choose to play killer. I had probably 800-1000 hrs of killer before I ever tried survivor. I've always wondered if that's why, that's why I'm wondering.

Fair point regarding defending the box, but I don't think that matters much sadly because there's still the issue of just standing in front of the box.
I'll try that clairvoyance trick later in a private match and see if it still works to negate a body block and let you know if it does.
Granted, it's not a practical solution to bring that all the time just in case of that type of match. But it would be damn satisfying to use it lol. I used it to push a ghost face off the hatch. He was trying to stalk me all the way before closing the hatch. I kept revealing him before he could get much stalk. I slowly walked up to him and used clairvoyance and pushed him back enough to jump in before his shroud recovered lol. It was soooo satisfying😂🤣

People need to remember it's not as if survivors got boons and killers didn't get anything... I love the Scourge Hook mechanics. Not quite as strong as a hex but stronger than most standard perks. Plus it can't be permanently disabled early like a hex. I love the idea that it's activated by me, as killer by pushing chases towards those hooks instead of losing a perk from a survivor action.

CoH's nerf was nice, but many people in the community feel like it's not enough. I'm here to propose a few changes that could possibly help.
Circle of Healing: "Reduces the Range of your boon's aura by X meters", or possibly "When snuffed, the dull totem you blessed is cleansed."
The former is a much smaller nerf, but could still help in the long run as it would take much more time to get to the healing zone, while also tipping off the killer to where it could be. Compounded with an possible -25% healing speed nerf (totaling 50%), this perk may be less annoying from killer side, while not being entirely useless.
Though the Ladder addresses a different, and much greater problem the community has with it. The fact that CoH can go up an unlimited number of times after you snuff it, essentially providing infinite heals, at a much faster rate. Totems breaking upon being cleansed would provide some kind of limit to that, so a player can't simply re-bless a totem repeatedly throughout a match.
There's also many other potential effects a boon could have as a drawback, such as "Booning takes X% longer each time yours was snuffed", or "The boon's aura becomes visible to the Killer"
Boons that affect the base properties that all boons share would be interesting too, such as a support 'boon' perk that increases the radius of the totem's aura while adding some kind of drawback, such as a much slower blessing speed. Though this kind of effect with the current circle of healing would be very frustrating to deal with, so until BHVR nerfs CoH in some significant capacity, it likely shouldn't be added as it would be very problematic.
I think if circle of healing (boons in general, but CoH is the only real issue), shouldn't show ALL survivors a permanent aura. The survivor that equipped it should have a permanent aura. The other teammates and killer should just get a noise notification and a short bubble location notification. That would help. One other idea I've thought of is Hex: Pentimento should allow you to break boons and rebuild them as Pentimento stacks... Then the survivor could bless it once more but if you broke it the second time it would remain broken (much like survivors breaking a Pentimento leaves it unusable).
-
Isn't that why Haddonfield is disabled? I thought it was finally getting it's remake.
Or was it just another fubar in the update that made it buggy or what?
-
I've also only used the map offering-cancel one time when another person actually burned for a map. And we still ended up at their map. So that offering must not remove the possibility of the other map. I guess it just puts it back into the RNG pool.

It's not hostage holding because Survivors can still progress the game foward by doing gens, trapped Survivors be damned. The problem is that there is zero counterplay for certain Trapped Survivors if RNG swings the wrong way.
In the body block scenario I do agree.
And yes suicide by gen does mean it's not technically hostage. I actually didn't mean hostage in a bannable sense just in a forced to die without having access to the box at all.
But the coordinated hook style counter to a pig just hovering around the box would work. And it would render that style useless.
You'd search a box by the time the pig recovered from 2 successful attacks on teammates
-
I see this more in the remarks survivors tend to make (yes, killers do too but not nearly as often) if they didn't like your means of winning. That puts pressure on killers to play less efficiently in order to not be berated by multiple people afterwards.
The SWF dynamic makes it easier to perpetuate the general shaming of styles as it's easy for 3 or 4 people to win an argument against 1 even if it's just by repeating a fictional rulebook.
Also the general competitive nature makes it almost necessary for SWF players to find a reason to blame the killers tactics rather than just say "we lost" or "we played badly that match". It's not in human nature to admit defeat in a team environment vs a single player.
As soon as I stopped taking the toxic criticism seriously, killer became much less stressful.

I agree that the Video Tape camp box shenanigans is nothing like Saw.
"But the basement bubba RNG thing was my point. It feels more personal and toxic as it's not RNG related."
Video Tape camp RNG is worse in my opinion because it IS fully RNG with the potential for literally zero counterplay.
"So to clarify. Is the pig just camping the box so survivors choose not to use it and risk getting grabbed, or is the pig just physically body blocking the use of the box?"
It could be either or, but in this case, we are assuming she is physically blocking the use of the box.
In that scenario yes that's absolutely holding the game hostage if they refuse to move enough for a survivor to search it. Not advocating this scenario but the perk "Clairvoyance" used to have the ability to 'push' the killer while using the map-esque effect. Idk if that was intentional or a bug but I never heard it was patched out ...
The other scenario could be counter-played by coordinating a team body block revolving hits between the three while the fourth is searching the box. And if indeed the killer doesn't change strategies then go heal and repeat.
Edit: like a coordinated hook rescue

The HUD has 7 sections before you're fully condemned. She fills up 1 of the sections for every teleport, you remove 3.5 whenever you deliver the tape. Gain 1 section when you collect a tape and 1 section for every TV you turn off.
Thank you GBK for clearing that part up and so quickly! I appreciate the extra effort you put into this for us controller jockeys😃

1) He leaves him there TO DIE. Not to leave his computer running indefinitely. And Jigsaw certainly isn't standing in front of the door waiting for him to do something the whole time.
2) Seldomly is still far too often.
3) Bubba's strat, lame as it is, does not have RNG tied hard to it, and you aren't screwed from literally the very beginning of the trial.
We'll agree to disagree on the Saw parallels, as morphing into nonsense.
But the basement bubba RNG thing was my point. It feels more personal and toxic as it's not RNG related.
So to clarify. Is the pig just camping the box so survivors choose not to use it and risk getting grabbed, or is the pig just physically body blocking the use of the box?

I'm Ps5 so I've got a question for anybody with some experience and understanding of the Onryō powers.
How much Condemned progress does a survivor gain from being in range of a TV when she projects to it?
(On the wiki it labels the amounts for all other instances but not this)
When a survivor returns a tape to the highlighted TV, other than removing a large amount of condemned, does anything else happen? I.e. does it turn off that TV? Does it cause any TV's to turn back on that have been turned off?
(Curious due to wording of "sharing the video with other survivors" )
When a survivor is fully Condemned is there a time limit or natural drop of the condemned meter, or do they need to take a tape to the TV to lose it?
Does downing or hooking a partially condemned survivor reset the meter (like ghost face)?
Are there any other things people noticed about her abilities that wasn't described in the description?
Thanks to any and all willing to help me with this!😊

That doesn't make it Saw at all. If it is possible for the trial to stall out because no one wants to break the game of chicken, that is neither John Kramer nor Amanda Young. That's just an episode of a sitcom.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2814436#Comment_2814436
That doesn't make it a healthy design choice that shouldn't be changed. There is nothing good about that style of gameplay at all.
To point 1: It is EVEN MORE saw from that stance. End of original saw. Epic scene:
"Game Over" as he leaves Dr Gordan to be trapped in the bathroom indefinitely (even if he escaped in future sequels, the intention was to leave him trapped.
To point number 2: It'll be used as a meme build and be used seldomly I'm sure. If 1 out of every 20 matches is vs Pig and only 1 out of every 30 of those are played this way... I'll welcome the change to the standard slam gens n go matches if it's super infrequently. Especially knowing if I do die it was bad luck RNG.
If this style was popular you'd see WAY MORE insidious basement bubba's... It's a more effective, consistent way to force a no win or no save situation. Plus that feels toxic because it's not RNG camping you.

After the Artist was released, an anti-loop Killer, good amount of Survivors said she was boring to face and were tired of anti-loop Killers. Some Killers said she was boring to use since she was anti-loop. Ringu Killer hits the PTB and since she's more map oriented and not an anti-loop Killers she's been deemed weak, "Wraith with extra steps" "Freddy plus Wraith" etc. So what is it that people want in a Killer?
I personally find the artist amazingly entertaining. It's not just anti-loop. It's gen monitoring and (mild) gen control from anywhere. She's been my new main since release. I'm a good killer, not amazing but have no trouble hitting red rank 1 by reset every month. Mind you I play more for fun than to be ultra competitive as I've got an ungodly amount of hrs and the super sweat matches get old fast lol. But she can be oppressive in MANY ways other than shutting down loops.

Now it’s time to kill switch blight.
Lol surprise surprise. Made any new "nerf the blight" posts of your own this week?
He's only dangerous in super talented hands... Average blight players make a fun match. Even a good blight that mows down people is fun to play against. He's one of the few killers that don't tilt me even if they beat me easily because it's still a change from the usual tile to tile chase style. But he's not OP try playing as him... He's hard to master.
Have you ever played against a god tier nurse? That's WAY more OP but I still don't complain because I know only like 2% of nurses are that good. And they spent thousands of hours getting that good. It's almost a cool feeling to get one because they're so rare.
Blight is similar in skill scale (but slightly higher ratio of great players but also far less unbeatable than a great nurse).
So the morale of the story is: instead of constantly trying to get killers nerfed that spent tons of hours becoming good with them, learn from their direction and get better through practice. If the only presence you make here is asking the devs to make the game easier for you instead of getting better then maybe play a single player game that has difficulty settings.

If all four keys are in the same Box, then the game is at a complete stalemate. That's not Saw-like at all.
Also. Just as you say if all 4 keys are in 1 box (1/16 chance) then the survivors all die to start another match. Just like if 0 keys are in that box (1/16 chance as well) it's an easy win and escape. It isn't inherently tilted in any direction... It's literally an equal chance. If you consider the fact that 15/16 times at least one key will not be in there and 8/16 times at least 2 keys won't... It's really stacked to end up with 2 escapes per game average...

Yes but it's the fact that it's just as likely that 0 keys are in the camped box as all 4. Makes it a game in which the RNG decides "who is too ungrateful to be alive" much as jigsaw dictated for people but AMANDA skewed their odds as well... To me that sounds EXACTLY like Saw. Remember we're the pig... Not Jigsaw

Depends on how many Traps need that one specific box to be freed. Multiple Traps could theoretically need the same box to be freed.
I edited. It does also mean theoretically no survivors could need that specific box. It does make the match seem very saw-esque

Hatch won't spawn unless there is only one survivor in the match. The video clearly shows 4.
And only 1 box is camped... Leaving 3 survivors to complete gens. It's not taking the game hostage in any way. It's more akin to tunnelling one survivor out. But it's more chance and less personal.
If all 4 keys are in one box... That's just bad luck but also means that there is a chance NO keys are in that box

I was really expecting for the blight to be toned down/reworked for this mid-chapter update but instead they actually buff adrenaline vial. The killer has been busted since release and he’s even more busted if you can J flick which the majority of blights do and shouldn’t even be a thing to be honest. But nope, another year with this busted killer.
EDIT: I have nothing against base blight, base blight is perfectly fine. I personally think he at least needs a small add-on rework and the ridiculous flicks need to be looked at as well. Hope that clears up any confusion.
Oh, did people stop responding to your blight post from 2 days ago? Either you are an aweful Sluzzy impersonator or really just need to get better at survivor.
PSA!!!: THIS IS BAIT. THIS PERSON POSTS THIS TOPIC EVERY FEW DAYS. VERY RARELY RESPONDS.
REPEAT: PSA: BAIT.

It's hilarious but is a bannable offense. This is no different than body blocking someone before ECG, which was confirmed by devs in this forums to be worthy of a ban. Survivors cannot progress the game or the traps will activate and cannot remove them either.
Even with an active trap, you can still escape through the hatch. So it's actually still not bannable. It's not stopping the match from ending.

Utimately I'm just glad they changed OoO in the end for whatever reason they did. Hated old OoO as killer (shockingly), love running new OoO, it takes a lot of work to pull off the synergy with mettle of man (as it should) but it's even more busted than the old version when you get there :p
I totally agree! I also used it as a reference to a different time in development thought. I think the Devs have gotten much better at getting a broad view rather than using stats alone.
But yes, old OoO was so toxic.
