I'm really sad about the new map because now I can't make people sad that the past 2 maps we've had in the past year and a half have both been awful. :(
Unless ofc this one is garbage too.

dead hardy is the name, and the description is ''use dead hard to avoid a basic attack by a nearby killer 1 time(s).

Ah, thought so.
So, what could be happening is due to the validation being attached to Dead Hard, on your end the DH goes through fine but on the Killer's end it thought you were hit, probably causing some sort of issue that the system just can't handle because of some unknown reason and then stopping challenge progress.
Report it as a bug here just in case

I'm not at home rn, what's the challenge again? I think I might know the issue but need to double check

It's been working perfectly fine for me?

They were changed before going live.
Though Circle of Healing definitely needs to be toned down further. Shadow Step is incredibly underrated when a survivor is healthy but at least you still can track injured people, so I think that'd be a lower priority.
If we're going with usual patterns, a chapter usually gets looked at 3 months after release.

I only love being chased my Spirit because of her chase music lol.
Literally me with Pinhead 💀 I really hate his game design and Iri addons because solo stomping but his box music makes it all okay
-
There's only really 2 things to do in dbd. Gens and chases. If you don't wanna do either what's the point lol?
Like I love being chased by most killers (with some obvious exceptions I've been vocal about), my bf loves doing gens, so naturally when we played together I'd do all 5 gens and he'd be tunneled all game lmao

Actually it's for fairness. Everything should be decided by the servers, provided they are coded competently, as it ensures the maximum fairness possible. Whoever's information is sent there first will win an interaction and it will continue to encourage good ping.
Players with high ping on both sides of the game should not be rewarded, especially due to it leading to an unfun experience for everyone else.
-
Personally I think it's okay to delete the game, provided you can return to it later if you choose to. So long as you don't do something stupid like snap your physical disc, ofc. Step away for your own mental health.
It's what my bf did so, if you don't think it's for you anymore, then I hope you find something else to play :)

The worst thing is that everybody said "the key rework will take time, it's not a simple number change" when people questioned why weren't keys nerfed alongside Moris. A year passed and how they finally nerf it? Simple number change.
The rework they're on about is like the next one to moris too in that they're becoming base game mechanics at a cost to strength. This numbers change isn't the final rework planned

Corrupt doesn't work against swf. They just afk 2 min.
Then congrats you've bought yourself 2 minutes of time to set up, break walls, and start building momentum especially on high mobility killers. If survivors don't touch gens for the first 2 minutes it's done its job just as well as if they've all clustered together and you can chase them off the gen

Oh no, I saw that the original articles are from Sep 23. But like you said, it went under the radar. From what I see, it went nuclear Friday night right before a three-day weekend with a Canadian holiday (Monday is Thanksgiving in Canada). It's suspicious.
It only really went viral because of one specific news article published today. And yeah it's deifnitelt suspicious but it also isn't like it was first announced yesterday.

This [BAD WORD] went nuclear on a three-day weekend with a Canadian holiday? hahaha holy crap, someone chose their timing well.
But its been out there since September 23rd.
Which was a Thursday btw

Someone who wanted to stir up [BAD WORD] decided to drop this late Friday so that every easily excitable person would go nuts for the entire weekend before BHVR responds on Monday.
Maybe BHVR will come out on the weekend to say something, but usually stuff like this is dropped on Friday because it gives people 2+ days to speculate wildly.
But it wasn't on a Friday
This has been out there since 23rd September and of course it mentions DBD in these articles.
That's been over 2 weeks they could've had to deny it. It only started gaining traction recently on twitter with yet another article released, this time just by a more credible source
-
@Squirrel_Thicc said:
Not really sure 100% what's going on exactly but I do know that bhvr hasn't confirmed whether or not it's legit and made by them. Seems like some people have been jumping to conclusions VERY quickly on this.
The reason people think it's legitimate or has the chance to be is bevause they name drop BHVR, and say they're using their assets and their game.
If this is fake, then welcome to legal hell and I hope we see one massive lawsuit becuase that is ✨theft✨ and violates copyright laws.
Also the Discord server has Doug Bradley's wife in also saying it's real.
If this is real, well.
-
I'm hoping that it's fake but every comment I've made that isn't me saying i hope it's fake has been me treating it as if it's true just in case. Because deep down I'm genuinely not sure I have the faith in BHVR to not have done this just to get Hellraiser in.
Either way it's been a good opportunity to properly learn about the real environmental opportunity cost to these things
-
@Squirrel_Thicc said:
Has it even been confirmed that this nft ######### is actually real and made by bhvr?
They don't work weekends so I'm assuming nothing will come until Tuesday, since as others have mentioned it's Thanksgiving on Monday.
What I do hope, quite strongly actually, is that if this is fake (which I'm still holding out hope for) someone at the team is taking notes for everything and when Tuesday hits we have one hell of a lawsuit from them to look forward to.

But at other point it says buying the NFT will unlock the Hellraiser DLC for you. It doesn't necessarily mean the voicelines will be NFT exclusive.
At least let's hope. I don't think anyone in the whole community would like content to be locked behind NFTs, SPECIALLY Pinhead's voicelines.
A lot wouldn't, no, but there's also people here who already invest in them so my faith cannot be placed wholly anywhere 🏃

It sounds like lootboxes + NFT combined to me. I really hope that's not what's about to happen.
Also fun fact: If you the players, or BHVR staff that might be reading this thread, want to see what introducing NFTs does to a game community: Lookup the recent Neopets NFT drama.
I'm also hoping that it's fake. While every comment on NFTs I've made has been under the assumption it isn't I am still hoping for it to be fake and if it's real I'm hoping for BHVR to have been forced in as part of a contract for Hellraiser.

yea I took environmental classes near literally everything is damaging though so I know to take it with a grain of salt but none of us are qualified on any way to learn in on this matter tbh
Okay externalities badly explained in about 4 seconds.
Aight so yes everything has an external cost to thing. These are known as negative externalities. As these costs are not included in the price they can cause the invisible hand of the free market to mess up, the signals sent by the market to be wrong, and thus cause over production and overconsumption of a good. The government however intervene in markets to help combat externalities in theory, by offsetting the cost through different methods, such as taxes on the more draining goods, or subsidies for competitors which have positive externalities (and so are underconsuned or underproduced). Obviously not the full list.
In theory the tax revenue gained can be reinvested into subsidising better manufacturing processes, conservation efforts, etc.
Also we have tariffs which are the tax on imports and these can be higher to help offset the transport cost.
Obviously I say in theory in reality when does this happen?
NFTs are wasting needless energy, more than a small country produces, when you don't even get the ######### piece of media and your ownership certificate can be wiped at any time.
We need food. Trade allows us to get this food at a much cheaper rate, with more diversity. We "need" phones in our current society. They are at this point essential for finding and holding down a job.
It wouldn't be as much of an issue if most of this energy wasn't coal power but the fact that so little of it is renewable (again the 72% figure I think it was- I woke up 5 minutes ago- is disputed by many). But it's literally doing absolutely ######### nothing for that much energy consumption. The opportunity cost of NFTs and crypto mining in general is far too high.
-
@MarcoPoloYolo said:
Ok, can you clear something up with me? So Bradley is voice acting for the NFTs. That much is clear. Is there anything suggesting that the PTB voiceline is exclusive to the NFTs? I'm not seeing anything that explicit. Is there something that I'm missing?
One of the bottom paragraphs suggests that owning the NFT will unlock exclusive content, and they mention Doug Bradley so it's probably got something to do with voice lines. Also they say "A chance" meaning you're not even guaranteed to get what you want.

They're making a digital trading card, which, since it'll be secured with contracts and that the "game-as-a-service" is actively managed and overseen, will actually force scarcity with no recourse for knockoffs.

That was based on a comparison to Bitcoin. And the assumption that the creation 10,000 blockchain was the same energy used as 10,000 transactions within the blockchain.
Ethereum seemed to be at least 20x more efficient than bitcoin, (But still uses up more energy than Argentina??? ######### how much does Bitcoin use?)
So would power a US home for ~30 days.
Thank you ^^

Only thing that's weird about this whole voiceline debacle is
Chatterer is allowed to make sounds when he teleports, they are unique sound clips only he has
it's perplexing, I wish we could know what's going on with this whole voiceline thing
Chatterer also isn't voiced by Doug though, nor is he the face of the franchise.

I'm still not seeing how that ties into the voice lines being removed, though.
Current going theory is that the license holders gave bhvr the finger and said that only people who own the nft will be able to use the licence alongside other benefits, all of which will be different from nft to nft to make them unique. This could include skins, voice lines, or whatever.
Edit: not to mention the nft company are basically doing loot boxes with which benefit you get.

I think the article literally says they just copy pasted the in-game model and they're offering it as an "NFT" because they have permission from DBD to do so.
If they have permission it must have been green lit and so BHVR are directly supportive of as they've allowed the use of their models in it.
-
@SleepyWillo said:
Can those that bought Pinhead get refunds? The PTB version and advertised version had voice lines. They then removed them? How is that what was purchased?
The patch notes had it in that they were removed from PTB to live so I doubt there'd be a case there for false advertising

A little iffy on the details, but I understand the gist of it.
That is pretty lame to say the least.
But what is etherium and what does that have to do with this? My knowledge on cryptocurrency is pretty limited.
Ethereum is what is used to buy and store the majority of NFTs. Mining for Ethereum, as well as storing and trading it, is also very bad for the environment, as most of the energy used comes from coal power, and it consumes more energy than all of Argentina. I believe in one of the two threads about this someone cited the number that the same energy could power an American home for 602 years.

Because it's not promoted by Behavior, unless I missed something
They made the models for it, the NFT site says they're collaborating with DBD, they own DBD- there has to have been a green light somewhere along there.
-
@Brokenbones said:
I mean
It would explain why they are being so tight lipped about it.
Think about it for a moment right
- If it was a bug or a glitch that caused the lines to be removed, then they could literally just say that. They acknowledged this question in the Q&A too with a non-answer
- It being complications with the license holders is possible, but these chapters are made MONTHS in advance, there is absolutely no way the holders didn't know voicelines were gonna be a thing. The only way it makes sense if this is the reason would be if they didn't like the community making memes about the lines but, let's face it, why the hell would they give a damn? It's not like they made Pinhead say something he doesn't say in the films (or well, almost)
- If BHVR themselves had problems with the voicelines, again they would just say it. Their community managers/Devs clearly have no problem referencing unfunny memes so why would this particular one be an issue? Their twitter is literally spammed with unfunny memes all the time so... yeah.
I don't know if I find the whole NFT thing disappointing or outright hilarious
Find it hilarious because it'll save so much mental anguish
-

Says 10 possible subscribers will get anything on their website. Sounds like a way to build up a subscriber base and sell your information. Either way I don't think Behavior is directly involved...
Still better off just paying for the DLC because I don't see why this could be better.
How are they not directly involved they made the models being used there has to at the minimum have been legal permission for this

Same...
So long as they're being bought with cryptocurrency though, yeah, you are entirely right that these are not environmentally friendly.
Although, with the creation of the blockchain, depending on how efficient it is, the energy cost to create this "product" (10,000 NFTs) looks like it could be the same amount of energy as if you wanted to Power a US Household for 602 years... Not to mention additional costs anytime a User "trades" the NFT. (Assuming creation of a block of a block-chain is a single "transaction")
I'm genuinely so annoyed at this I don't think I can get to sleep but I also can't vent it to the full extent on here because I'm afraid it'd lead to a ban lmao but FOR ######### SAKE WHY
-
@TAG said:
From my understanding, NFTs are a digital product where the buyer pays money, and in exchange for that money, the seller gets money from the buyer. Am I objectively correct?
The money is about the second least environmentally friendly thing humanity can do right now next to detonating several nuclear weapons but facktirng that in you've got the gist yes
