I think the biggest issues are that survivor looks janky as hell (the hits more than the animations), and also the UI changes were pushed through despite community feedback.
Get downed in a cloud of Clown gas. Your survivor gets quite the work out. lmao

I've said my piece on the HUD. It is, in my opinion, the worst change to come to DbD ever. Even worse than the random Revving Engine-Horse sound added for no reason that one time. The game was basically unplayable for Survivors for that patch and this is worse.

It's worse now, though, since they removed a lot of the clutter. Now you can see the killer for half way across the map due to all the empty space. There's only, what, two pallets that can be mindgamed? While the map looks good, it's terrible to play on. Worse now than before, in my opinion.
Not only can you see the Killer from further away, but the lighting also makes the red stain way more vibrant and noticable.
And some of the walls are literally broken, like, 3 times I could actually see the bloodstain from the other side of them. I don't play Killer at all and I am peeved by the shoddiness of some of this map.
It looks good though.
-
There is literally nothing good I can say about it. I've been saying this since the first day we were shown it: It is objectively bad game design. The fact it made it through the concept phase is, frankly, unacceptable.
As a a side note: Everyone I've seen defending the new HUD has not come up with a good argument as to why it is good/why they like it, or they just insult everyone who has an issue with it.
-
The Game wasn't even survivor sided even with the number of safe pallets it had before.
I checked it out with my Fiance in KYF (he was Killer) to check it out. I ran Windows of Opportunity and I was shocked. Just the number of pallets alone was mindblowing, add on to that the number of those pallets that were safe was just outrageous.
-
Only like 5%of the player base like the UI. It's awful in every sense.
-
"Hate Train"?
The UI is objectively bad game design. No hate just befuddlement.
-
I want to know too.
This design should never have made it through the concept phase.
@blue4zion Really? "I don't understand other people so I'm going to downplay their criticisms"

You mean having people look to 4 different corners of a 27+ inch monitor in a game with a first person view is bad design? Who could have forseen this?
Not BHVR.

One of the many reasons I stopped playing Killer completely.

I am gonna go against the flow, here. The new HUD might take some time to adjust to, but I am excited about it, the same for the new animations. It's gonna be easier to hide behind trees by standing straight.
It is objectively bad game design. It isn't about "adjusting" to it. It is a step back. It's like the UI of early 2000s MMOs.

Also the illogical logic of 'we want killers to think about this and track it themselves' yet you could make the same argument for killers not having any hook counter atall, at that point I don't see why you wouldn't just go all in or not do it atall
Exactly.
But it's BHVR and us lowly players can not fathom their galaxy brain ideas.

I like how in the video they did they implied that anyone actually would care for or wanted this, when to anyone who has actually played the game, a widget showing how many times an individual survivor had been hooked is the actual thing, worst part is you can't turn this ######### off
Didn't you hear? If they gave Killers this information they'd tunnel more. According to BHVR.
As if tunnelers don't already know who they are tunneling.

I'm thinking of making a weekly thread reminding everyone how terrible the UI is. I've been against it from the start and I have nothing nice or supportive to say about it. It is terrible from any design standpoint you can take. How it ever even became a concept and then had enough support to become the chosen one is actually painful to try to imagine. Just, HOW?

I honestly prefer the old one.
but the new one is not that bad once you get used to it (in my opinion)
It is objectively bad game design. Getting "use" to it doesn't mean it's okay, or even passable. It's a design that never should have made it into the concept phase let alone pass it.
From a basic aesthetic standpoint, it's just confusing.
-
Vision is important for Killers, so they decided to cover up more of it to make it harder to see.
👍️👍️👍️👍️👍️👍️👍️👍️👍️👍️
-
This is what I've been saying since the release of it.
It's terrible from a game design standpoint. Having players look all over for information now is literally a step backwards.
How it made it past the concept stage is beyond me. It just makes we question BHVR even more. Most games are trying their hardest these days to reduce their UI. The smaller, sleeker and more condensed it is the better.
BHVR has decided to jump back in time 20 years.
-
I've been just outside of Killer Terror Radius multi games recently, since the last patch. It's annoying and I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
-
Suddenly?? lol
-
Felix's story is a pretty good example of this. It's an amalgamation of nonsense and a fundamental misunderstanding of introverts and alcoholism.
-
The 2009 movie? Why would anyone want to associate themselves with that trainwreck?
-
I don't run it for two reasons:
- I use what I like, and this usually consists of no exhaustion or second chance perks.
- I don't have it. 🤷♀️

Every game times out at 20 minutes. Going 30 is impossible unless the game glitches at which point it it will NEVER end and you have to disconnect.
It wasn't like that as far as I remember back when I played it. They probably changed it if this is the case because I'm pretty sure matches never timed out, you had to wait until the last camper either died or escaped. If they did, which again I do not remember this happening at all, then it just felt like 30 minutes because it was boring af.
Edit: This would mean they actually addressed my main issue with the game which is awesome. If only the game wasn't dead and wasn't a "bully Jason" simulator. I played no-fear baseball bat Jenny and I feel guilty about it every time I think about Friday the 13th.
-
The only time I have issues with tombstone Myers is when my teammates feed him until he has Tier 3 and then the first time encounter him I'm the one who ends up getting killed. Thanks guys. 👍️
-
Play Solo Survivor?
I do that a lot, though I also play with my Fiance.
I have no issues with Solo Survivor believe it or not.
-
Most people I've seen are talking about how good it'll be with Devour Hope and, to a lesser extent, Huntress' Lullaby. To get stacks with Devour Hope you need to get x distance away from the Hook.
How does this promote camping?

@Sluzzy said:
If there is too many survivors, why are killers queues not always instant? They are slow too.
I dunno if anyone is really saying there are "too many" survivors (if they are this makes no sense tbh) but that there are way more Survivors than Killers. Survivor Queues are usually longer because there are fewer Killers, but there aren't so few that they get instant queues.
---
Sometimes I get instant queues with Survivor and sometimes my Fiance gets instant queue with Killer. It depends on the time of day really, but the only time Killer's wait 5+ minutes is when a new Killer comes out.

I haven't played for a few months, but I don't remember being stuck in matches after dying. Nonetheless that game had a lot of problems from the start & the devs just never got to fix it.
If campers can still call Tommy Jarvis then you are basically forced to sit around because he is controlled by another player who died. Back when I played you also didn't get any "points" if you left early. Don't know if they changed this. It's been a while.
It was hell. Especially if you died first and the match went on for 30 minutes. And then you had to wait another 5-10 minutes for another match.
-
Assuming Mif-February but I'm not sure. 🤷♀️

Lawsuit after lawsuit after lawsuit. You'd think one would be enough lol.
It's such a shame because Friday The 13th could've been an amazing game, and DBD would've actually had some type of competition.
Friday the 13th had promise, for sure. The lawsuit immediately killed it.
But I think having to sit around and wait for a match to end after you die would have killed the game eventually though if they didn't address it.
-
I dunno. I liked the idea of equipment but, like, RE: Resistance was such an unbalanced mess, due in part to some of the equipment.
More specifically being able to stack the best equipment's different tiers with eachother, unless they removed that after I left the game.
It might work, but it wouldn't work out the exact same since you have to put BP into every character instead of opening chests to unlock them for everyone.
-
The Friday the 13th franchise is such a legal mess, it never seems to not have a lawsuit going on.

I'm hoping we'll be able to communicate a bit more about the UI shortly - we did touch on the subject briefly during the stream last week and I think it will be an ongoing thing.
Honestly doubt many of us are holding our breath expecting BHVR to communicate about anything. But I might just be pessimistic. 🤷♂️

As in good or bad?
She's the buggiest Killer in the game. Well, was, I think the Twins have beaten her at that now.

Honestly, I can't even remember the last time I faced off against The Twins. I've encountered every other Killer more, even the Plague.

Literally no one has been banned for teabagging.
Not only that but they are, according to your words, banned for life meaning they really broke the rules (lul).
-
The fact that you define it as "stupid reasons" and give no indication of what these "stupid reasons" is telling. Besides they were banned for breaking the rules.
-
Matchmaking is a mess and was "turned off" so you get matched with who ever. It's been like this for over a year. 🤷♀️
-
@NomiNomad said:
You're not. I play Ghostie a lot, it's broken on both ends.
I've been stared at by a survivor a few feet away and revealed by someone while I'm completely behind things. Or, the classic "killer instinct not showing the person that revealed me"
Reminds me of the last time I went against Ghost Face. He kept coming to try to jump me but I kept slinking away and then revealing him. He caught me during the EGC with NoED but the whole match it seemed like Killer Instinct wasn't working because he never knew exactly where I was even when I was near him.
-
I dunno, bad and/or toxic survivors might break walls they shouldn't break, making chases easier for Killer. Though it could be used to open up stronger loops for Survivors, not that I can think of many new stages in which this is actually a thing.
-
I mainly play solo survivor or with my fiance. There's a difference in difficulty, depending on the other 2 survivors, but I wouldn't say Solo Survivor is any more frustrating. I don't really care about surviving though.
-
Sorry, this was so frustrating for you but...
Blur the names. This is naming-and-shaming which is against the rules. 🤷♂️
-
Confused.
You say it is being used as a crutch perk for new players but then go on to say that it's not fair that Survivors should be expected to do totems because they probably don't have enough time to do them. This line of reasoning literally makes no sense. Are new Killers using it, meaning Survivors have plenty of time to do nothing, or are high-level Killers using it pressuring you so hard that you can;t even attempt to look for a totem? You say yourself that you moved on to BBQ & Chili later on after you got better. Why'
Also, cleansing/looking for totems doesn't make you useless. Learn where totems spawn and check the areas as you pass through and cleanse them, if you want, or remember where it was so you can check back later to see it is lit.
You could also take Small Game. But if have a real hard time finding them there are perks, and maps, that show you the exact location of totems. It's not like it's hopeless, or that time consuming, to try and ensure an escape against NoED. 🤷♂️
-
Freddy's only real counterplay is playing well, and that's bad game design. He excels in every area a Killer needs to excel in. He needs a nerf of some kind, I don't care where. I am biased though as I really hate this Killer.
-
I use to be super trash at Chases and Looping. I forced myself to get chased to improve my skill at it. I'm now alright but I have a lot to learn still. So it's definitely not hopeless.
Also, I'm confused, how is it (paraphrasing) easier for players to learn a Killer than it is to get better at Survivor? Each Killer is different, yet you can play any survivor and you'll be playing the same (barring Perks). Sure you have to learn how to play against different Killers but with your limited actions, you get better and better at them and learn how to use them against most any Killer. Sure, you'll be less effective against Killers you aren't used too but it shouldn't take long to adjust since, again, you have a limited amount of actions you can actually perform. So if you are always playing with the same skill set, let you get better and better at, how is it harder to learn/get better at Survivor than it is to learn/get good with different Killers? 🤔
A Nurse main with thousands of hours on her should be able to dominate most players as they have spent thousands of hours using one of the best Killers exclusively, one that straight-up ignores a ton of actions Survivors have to deal with Killers. I'd bet that for a long time their games were a worse experience while learning her than your games learning to play Survivor. Not a good example to be frank.
-
Literally how?
It's aesthetically unappealing.
From a visual design standpoint, the CGI character heads make no sense when the rest of the images are drawn images, it should be the portraits as shown above. It's confusing, offputting, and confusing. The injured effect is also bad, since it's not as immediately obvious as the current downed image. Its location doesn't help it either.
Speaking of which.
From a game design standpoint, it makes no sense. The information is all over the place, there is too much negative space and too little information with one look. You'll need to move your eyes to multiple locations to get all the info you'd need, this is bad. Players should get as much information as possible with as little eye movement as possible to not spend too much time knowing what they need to do and what is going on.
Literally nothing about it works as it has been shown.
-
I have never played a game with so little communication and I played League of Legends for years. Players complained of a lack of info back then from Riot and they were more open than BHVR. Blizzard is more open than BHVR and they are Blizzard.
Colour Blind Mode isn't something that needs to be kept secret. Literally just say "we are working on it, no ETA but we are working on it." Most of us would have been fine with that. They never said anything remotely close to this, so yeah. Fact is, the colour changes look like they would take an hour to figure out, not months or even years.
But I dunno. Probably just the pessimist in me. 🤷♂️
-
This literally just happened to me. Against a Leatherface, of course. Got pulled off and we both immediately got shredded. And it was the Claudette I had saved earlier in the match.
Why you do me like this?
-
@RiskyKara said:
Did the first 3 gens solo last night. Felt surreal as heck. The killer can only kill one person at a time, there should have been progress anywhere else in the time it took me to solo 3 gens.
Feels equally weird to juke a killer for well over a minute, only to find that we're no closer to finishing gens than we were before I got chased.
Reminds me of this game I had last night.
The Felix was running the Killer (Huntress) around for a while, like at least 3 minutes. I pulled Feng Min off a hook, healed them, did a totem next to a Gen and did a Gen. The Feng Min and other survivor (Claudette)? No idea because not a single Gen other than mine was done in that span. Like, how?
