His base is 110 and then when

holding a knife he is definently slower like pluage when charging puke slow

Then gets slower the longer you throw knives

    Right.

The thing is, Plague is only slowed for a short time (during start of the charge) Trickster is slowed so long as you are using your power.

    It's hilarious.

  • @TheWarNung said:

Well, he came out yesterday, so people playing him don't have any good perk setups or any real experience with the killer. You and your teammates have 16 perks that you spent weeks/months grinding BP to unlock and have practiced playing with them.

That said, Trickster does seem bad. But it's still morning of Day 2, so let's let things calm the Eff down a bit before we all rage into these forums and...

    ...oh, too late?

The Plague has been out for just over 2 years. The Trickster is worse than her in every way possible and she's considered an average Killer.

    I think that's enough.

  • I don't really have a list besides:

    1. He's worse than the Plague in every way.

I do have a question though about the speed thing:

Are you sure he only goes down to 100% m/s? Pretty sure he goes down to 96% (slower than Survivors) when he uses his first/holds it and eventually can go all the way down to 80% m/s after continually throwing knives.

  • Many are, but there are many of us that give actual feedback.

Yea that is why i get hard tunnel today most of my matches, killers know it is useless perk now lol

If you are able to do anything that disables DS then you aren't being Tunneled.

Sorry you can't abuse your 60-second free stun and health state anymore.

  • I don't agree on some of these placements. Specifically Hag, Wraith, Twins and Deathslinger. Twins most of all because they are incredibly strong, but they have to Camp all day. They are unfun af to play and to play against but they are in no way weak.

Trickster Tier is accurate, even if he just came out. Imagine being The Plague but everything you do now takes longer, doesn't infect other survivors, has a timer, you have to go to a locker to get your weakened power back, and you are slower. Also, your activated power has a longer start up, has a stun at the end and your power goes on a cooldown. RIP

It's more of an issue with their near complete reliance on big data over gameplay experience. Don't get me wrong, both are valuable and have their place, but it doesn't take a large amount of data to show that Trickster has all the disadvantages of similar killers but nothing that elevates him to their level or separates him from them.

That's where gameplay knowledge and experience comes in. When an S tier Huntress/Deathslinger player is struggling to down players with another ranged 110 killer, that should be sounding alarms. Even if you don't have that player on staff, that's what your PTB is for. This isn't about not using the killer correctly. This is, again, basic stuff (or should be) to anyone experienced. Huntress/Slinger land health states whereas Trickster lacerates. Trickster does absolutely nothing else to make up for that but moves at the same speed OR WORSE as those two. Zero utility. 110% movement speed. Objectively worse downing capability in every scenario.

The Trickster is worse than The Plaque. In Every. Single. Way.

Or as a company they have decided to ban words which serve no purpose but to harass, degrade, and humiliate other players. So in essence you are right - they are treating some people like children because frankly the behavior these filters are meant to deter are immature and childish to say the least.

Giving us the ability to turn it off doesn't stop this from happening though. Those who want to leave it on would leave it on. Those who want it off will turn it off. It's as simple as that. 🤷‍♀️

Pyramid Head was called OP and UP depending on which side you ask, this is pretty much always the same thing and again, that is because people dont know yet how they work, people dont know how to deal with the powers on both sides, so if it works, clearly the killer is OP and if it doesnt then obviously the killer is UP.

But ermm so you actually want to say people were right in calling Pyramid Head OP?... because ermm...he is not....like at all.

When Blight came out everyone called him pointless and weak and it was only people like OhTofu who said there was potential, not the masses and the masses have still not actually got to that level because they made up their mind of him being weak so they dont even try....(that is kinda the poitn of this entire discussion btw)

The Twins is an even more recent example, people dont want to learn and so those that do play them is exactly the same as so many (bad) players play the Hag, but again if you watch Otz for example, he states the Hag is one of the strongest killers and does not even need perks if you know what you are doing, but again, almost nobody does or can be bothered to learn, otherwise she would have been long nerfed.

Same with the twins, people dont do well for 10 matches, welp terrible killer, back to Wraithe or something else simple they can grasp.

yes everyone is stupid and knows nothing simply because of the mentality that they think they have something figured out that quickly, that is a terribly sad sad mindset, Deal with the cards dealt, make something of it, force yourself to only play the new killer for a month and see how far you get, THEN you can come with soem conclusion.

    This all pretty much incorrect.

Pyramid Head was found to be OP in 1v1s and then after some changes became a good-to-great killer.

Blight was garbage on the PTB, they fixed some of his issues, and people were like "ok BHVR. We see what you are doing." And people really enjoyed him, with some additional adjustments he's just balanced out and was known immediately that he would be strong in the right hands.

Other than the bugs, everyone knew that once Victor was able to interact with lockers the Twins would go from weak to extremely strong. No one plays them because no one finds camping fun. Basically no one has called the Twins weak since the Victor change. Before that they were literally an M1 killer.

As for the Trickster? We have all the data we need because The Plague has been out for 2 years. At base, they are extremely similar. One just does all of it better than the other. And The Plague isn't even considered strong.

  • @BioX said:

idk how many more ptb's its going to take for some people realise its not really about balancing the killer, its more about technical stuff and bugs.

The Binding of Kin showed us that that isn't true either.

  • I find it hard not to compare him to The Plaque. A killer that is considered average to below-average in strength. He's worse than her in every way.

  • @OBX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2062061#Comment_2062061

Just imagine Oni with similar conditions on his “omega power”. At least when it triggered and you didn’t necessarily want it you could still zoom around the map with a super lethal power. And he’s still 115 without it. These devs really make no sense

    Compare him to the Plague.

    It's quite astounding.

  • @Phasmamain said:

At least Ghostface got a massive buff from the ptb. Trickster is like an early test in his current state especially Main event

Main Event is the worst design decision BHVR has made in a long time. You lose time if you don't down someone almost immediately with it. The start-up, stun, and cooldown are unbelievable. If you don't down anyone with it you're basically throwing. AND you have no real control over when to activate it because the bar resets after a certain amount of time of not activating it. It's insane.

  • He is literally a worse plague in every way possible.

Power: She has no recoil and doesn't lose speed after the short one for start up. He does, and he loses A LOT of speed when he continually fires. Sickness ticks up, laceration ticks down. Sickened Survivors can infect other Survivors.

"Activation": She deals a health state, he doesn't, on hit. Plaque can hit multiple survivors with one puke. He can not. She chooses when it is best to activate it, he can't because there is a timer before it goes away and you need to rebuild it again. Trickster's has a longer startup, it stuns him once it ends and his knives go on cooldown. Plague just continues to vomit everywhere and isn't impacted when it deactivates.

    Speed: She's a 115% m/s killer. He is not.

  • Speaking of Nightmare on Elm Street.

The second movie is campy af, hilarious, and (as a gay man) easily one of the gayest movies I have ever seen.

But anyway, the people who say the Trickster isn't "scary" and/or doesn't fit the "horror theme" actually freak me out. The fact that they have such a deep misunderstanding of what horror and fear are, that they don't see that The Trickster, a human who tortures his victims and records their screams until they die, is scary at all? That's the real horror.

  • Bugfix.

There was a bug, I guess, that let players get achievements while playing in Custom Games. This fixes that. Checked the patch notes on my PS5 when it finished and this is basically what it said.

Had no idea it was even a thing.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Maybe, if the ricochet deals half stabby damage than a direct hit. Good Tricksters would be honestly quite oppressive, but with a decent skillcap to get there.

    Agreed.

  • His Lore gives him the name. That's literally it. 🤷‍♀️

  • @Zixology said:

Or... In a game about killing people and trying to avoid being killed, we can leave sexuality out of it because it doesn't matter.

Leave that "poop" to the fan-fic writers. Let people insert what they want instead.

They've already put Sexuality into their game. You must be disgusted.

This game also has deep interpersonal lore so of course sexuality is going to come up.

  • @Raja said:

Yes. It's literally insane and dumb and unfun for everyone.

    @WiiFitTrainer said:

Erm, I'm pretty sure knife throwing has been around MUCH longer than dbd hackers have existed..

    Also this.

  • What do you mean by "Explicit Horror Theme"?

Also, you say he isn't a "horror villain". American Psycho, Perfect Blue and Silence of the Lambs (to name a few) show this is actually an incorrect statement and a poor stance to take. Edit: He's also a dead ringer for a reference to Ichi the Killer.

  • @GeneralV said:

All that hype...for this? I am so disappointed. If I buy this chapter, which probably isn't going to happen, I will just get his adept and never touch him again.

You built up the hype and expected something and now are disappointed you didn't get what you wanted. Why is this anyone's fault but your own? I had no expectations, I didn't get hyped, and I like this new chapter. Maybe, just maybe, riding the hypetrain is never a good idea because you'll always be let down. Nothing will ever be as good, or as acceptable, as what you hype yourself up for.

  • Another thread being overdramatic and making some childish remark about the new Killer? What's new?

  • No mention of Deathslinger or Pyramid Head? But everyone said they were just like the Huntress. lmao

Anyway, he's nothing like the Huntress besides his reloading. Good try though.

  • Crowd Control is a Hex perk. Basically useless imo.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1988860#Comment_1988860

yeah but as said he is basically Deathslinger even in main event.

He is easier to play, more oppressive as the knife spam will more then likely down you but Deathslinger does this but better and faster.

Everyone was saying The Deathslinger would never be used because he is a "worse Huntress". But I think we all see that was a bad generalization. I just think we need time to see how things shake out.

  • I was thinking more along the lines of Chinese "Historic" Action movies myself.

  • Meg is cute.

IF you also find dirty scarecrows cute.

  • I think he'll be fine, if not oppressive, once people get better with him.

The mode where you get Infinite knives with no slowdown is just insane.

  • @Lexilogo said:

Okay, I don't mean to crack open cans of film analysis worms, but has this guy ever watched Psycho, or Silence of the Lambs?

I'm assuming most of the people attacking the new Killer haven't. They think Horror is monsters or visually intimidating killers.

They are so ignorant it's almost cute if it wasn't so annoying.

  • @Mozzie said:

No, it's where the game comes to die. If this is really what the community likes this community is so far removed from the horror genre. Did they really have the audacity to put his portrait next to Michael Myers in the PTB?

    Have you seen American Psycho?

I'm assuming no. Your shallow view of the Horror Genre doesn't make you the dictator of what is and isn't horror.

Life is full of horrors from people who look even less likely to be a killer than anyone in the game. To think that you don't understand what fear and terror are yet you act like an expert.

  • This is actually pretty accurate.

Finally, someone on the forums who has actually made me laugh when talking about the new Killer.

^this. I´m straight but I´m very happy we got more rep with this chapter!

    We didn't though.

Well, we did, we got 2 new characters that are both Korean. But beyond that we got nothing.

  • Damn, so many of you are being so childish about this chapter.

Sorry, you didn't get something you hyped up for yourself.

So many tantrums and you all think you are hilarious. Too bad really.

  • @WhoisJoe said:

Personally its because he sticks out liker a sore thumb compared to other killers. With legion and ghost face they have darker color schemes n having masks adds to the horror factor because the unknown scares people. If the made him paler and darken his bright jacket he would look great.

    The unknown scares people.

But a lot of things scare people.

Honestly getting annoyed by all these posters trying to fit fear and horror into their shallow views of what it is.

    @WhoisJoe said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1988639#Comment_1988639

I don't think the should make him gray like trapper but they could make him look like he has stop focused on his basic needs like food enough where he seems paler , It just adds a little bit of depth of how insane he is . So basically I don't want him to lose his personality but fit in a little bit more.

Have you seen American Psycho? The Trickster gives me a lot of those vibes.

  • @Lexilogo said:

These are uber-first impressions so the community's settled thoughts will likely be quite different.

Survivor is fine. Nothing exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. A new Exhaustion Perk option is always good, I think a lot of people underestimate how Head On has improved the game's health. I do like how they've tried to approach the idea of Perks around the idea of a "selfish" Survivor playstyle.

The Trickster needs to be split up into a bunch of different thoughts.

    • The design is bad IMO. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the idea of a flashy Killer or the basic concept, but I think it's poorly executed. The Trickster very blatantly stands out against the rest of the game's roster with him looking way too "normal". You'd think The Entity's influence on him would've created this interesting dichotomy between his attempts to look flashy and beautiful, combined with the inner evil that's readily apparent once you look closer. Kinda like how the Plague has one side of her face that looks fairly normal, only to reveal the other side that's rotting off her skull. Instead, he's just a BTS member with blood splatters. As a sidenote, I also really don't like his running animation, his blendspaces look pretty weird. (the successful attack animation's dope, though)
    • His Perks seem cool. Beefy and likely to add variety to games. Probably the best part of the chapter. I find it very weird that No Way Out exists alongside current NOED, though.
    • His Power doesn't seem well done. From the Survivor's perspective, this is a lot like Deathslinger, with zero serious interactivity or counterplay. From the Killer's, Huntress or Deathslinger could provide a very similar experience, but in a more exciting manner that rewards good aim more. There aren't that many scenarios where Trickster can land hits when Huntress/Deathslinger wouldn't also land hits, except Trickster requires way more hits in order to get downs, even if they come out faster.

IMO, they should make his ricochet addon basekit. They can always make other adjustments to try and balance him around this, that's just the base design change I think he needs. This would allow Survivors to think more tactically about where they hide in loops, instead of solely thinking about breaking line of sight, and allows Trickster players to have a much higher skillcap plus gives him a unique selling point other ranged Killers don't have.

Your first point about the Killer makes nose sense, really.

The Legion exists, so your thoughts on the Entity changing him are rendered moot.

  • Anime the Trickster is not.

  • @raysg said:

Or they shouldn't even go in to sexuality with a ######### game.

    Too late, they already have.

  • @Lexilogo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1988536#Comment_1988536

I'll outline it more clearly, though I kind of implied it in the thread:

-Remove most of the blood, especially the stuff on his actual body

-Use makeup to try and create a more interesting design for his face and establish his identity as a Killer, without necessarily having to turn him into an extaggerated monster and keeping the popstar look.

Killers aren't defined but having something on their faces.

And removing blood would improve this how, by the way?

  • It isn't even confirmed that he is LGBT+.

Just because he is effeminate doesn't mean he is. He's a Kpop star, this is what a lot of them look like.

But I agree, the childish dramatics are a bit much.

  • @PNgamer said:

siriously....Horror is horror..but anime is anime...and i will not destroy any fun from someone...if you happy with the new chapter..go for it. But for my self. I rly dont like the customisation from the killer... also to many colors and stuff like that. After 4 years It´s the first chapter i will not buy because it has nothing to do with horror....Sry

"Horror is Horror but anime is anime"

    Oh damn.

I wish I had a prize to give you because this is the most ignorant, dumbfounding, and mildly insulting thing I've read all day. It'll be tough to beat.

  • Need me an old lady Survivor. I've wanted one since they released that terrible Laura skin that makes her look like an old lady. (I know it's based off her look in the original film but it looks awful).

  • I like his design.

I think having a visually unique Killer was the right way to go.

  • They are still new, but I have to agree.

I literally haven't faced the Twins since the day after their release. Like, not even once since then.

  • @Raja said:

Because she sucks to use. I saw a post here where someone complain about 2 or 3 gen pop before they could even vomit on someone she sucks.

She doesn't suck, after a lot of practice, she's just difficult to use. She can snowball well, but survivors have a lot of control over her power. She's also REALLY buggy.

Besides, one person going 2-3 gens without hitting someone with vomit isn't an issue with the Plague.

  • Is this the thread where jokes come to die?

  • She's one of the least(or the least?) popular Killers. She doesn't make them much money so they don't make her a lot of skins. Like Adam Francis.

I think she deserves more but 🤷‍♀️

  • @TruffleTurtle said:

I know u did not just say darkness among them was one of the best chapters dropped.

Anyways to the point i overall dont like him because he doesnt fit into the theme of dbd. While I can appreciate well written lore what matters is how a character is presented. I like how they gave him chatacter through his animations, but his overall appearance just does not make him fit as a killer. I personally think he is too bright and humanlike. And before people argue about cosmetics being bright, there is a difference between the face if a character and extra cosmetics

Sorry. I didn't know all killers wore masks, dark clothes and/or were visually horrific in some way.

Oh wait. They don't/aren't. Are you saying they can't represent deranged Killers who don't fall into this stereotype?

  • I think his design is great.

A LOT of posters are being overdramatic and childish when it comes to him. Many of them also only equate Horror to the Killer's looks. Which is just ridiculous.

  • So many of you have such an ignorant view of horror. If it doesn't look scary, then it's not scary. Sorry, but that's not how horror, fear, and the real-world work.

What about him doesn't fit/work in DBD? The fact that he wears bright clothes?

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 41
